Very good food and attentive service for this local authentic Mexican restaurant. We tried it based on the yelp reviews and will be back!

We called to make reservations but really didn't need to because there was literally no one there. We got chips, steak and rice and some birria tacos. I didn't like the birria tacos or the steak and rice but the chips were good. Our waitress also spilled Coca Cola on my new uggs and it was slow over there so I'm not trying to see how they are when it's busy. Overall, I will not be back. read more

Flavor explosion! Broad menu of Mexican favorites. El pastor burrito is delicious. Chicken fajitas were seasoned excellently. Quesadilla gobernador had the shrimp cooked to perfection-- juicy and well seasoned. Staff are friendly and always accommodating which really helps. Walls are decorated with Mexican memorabilia adding to the authentic feel of the place. Reasonable prices. I've gotten this place for takeout a few times now and have found it to be very very inconsistent in quality. The food also had a weird smell once or twice where I questioned the ingredients freshness. Even the chicken pieces they used for the enchiladas were different front order to order. I was just really turned off by the weird smells and quality difference. I hesitate to order from them anymore because of it. It sucks because this area really is in desperate need of more Mexican options. read more

Loved my first visit here. Looked at the reviews on Yelp and Google so I figured to give it a try. First and foremost, the mom and pop shop are very friendly and welcoming when you walk in. I didn't expect the warmth just for asking for a take out menu. (Now that I have it, I'll order ahead to pick up). While we waited, they served us some chips and dip. Totally didn't expect that since we were ordering take out. It felt like we were dining there! The wait for our entrees were about 30 minutes because I ordered a lot! And I had not thought of what to get so it took some time with so many yummy options. The one thing I loved the most was my enchiladas... Chicken was the protein and the sauce with the slices of avocado, cheese and red onions was so delicious. There were red and green chili based sauces given on the side. I'm glad they didn't put it on my food as I'm not great with too much heat. Other items we enjoyed: - Mango salad, contains walnuts. Mangoes were super sweet, cranberries gave it a nice second layer of flavor, the walnuts and tossed salad was excellent. Dressing on the side. It was so refreshing it didn't even need the dressing but I tried it anyway, a red vinaigrette. - camarones (shrimp) with rice and asparagus, decent portion and lots of asparagus. Made eating out less guilty. Ha ha - chicken quesadilla, it was two large pieces and nicely presented. I would get this again. - torta con carne, came with fries. Wasn't sure how the beef was going to be made but my kiddo enjoyed it very much. I realize it was a sandwich (for dinner) but he didn't mind. Beef was nicely grilled and not dry. Very good. - flan (so good!) The owner was so nice and asked if it was my first visit which I said yes. She told me she hopes I will enjoy the food and hopes I'll return. I totally would but maybe next time, I'll eat in. Food was great on takeout so I'm sure it'll be even better sitting in. read more

What a lovely hidden gem in the local area! We were craving some really authentic Mexican Tacos and of course, we know there are options in Northwest Queens but we wanted to find something nearby. After axing out several spots we've tried before and didn't love (places so downhill so quickly sometimes!), we decided to follow the highest-rated option - El Huarache. And while we know that this is known for huaraches and alot more than just the tacos - we think that the tacos are always the standard test for how authentic a place might be. We ordered for Take-Out and can I just say .. how unbelievably sweet and homey the atmosphere and service was?! We met Ernesto, probably the owner - and he was so welcoming and friendly and professional. He told us it would be just a few minutes for our order while introducing us to some of his specials and answering our questions. They don't have a long list of taco-types, but we were fine with that. Because apparently they have what they do well and not a bunch of things to busy their menu. We ordered the set of beef and al pastor which come with 3 a set. We also added a chorizo and some shrimp tacos. The sets of 3 come with 1 for free as per their current promotion (call directly to order, or walk-in, dine-in .. not on the food apps). They were all delish and freshly prepared but we especially loved the Al Pastor and Chorizo. We were so impressed by the portions of fillings - compared to many spots that follow the street-taco style and give just a small portion of meat with other fillers. Here, no silly fillers like lettuce and tomato (Mexican tacos should not have these!) - just their marinaded grilled meat with bits of onion and cilantro and sauce, on two small corn tortillas. Their corn tortillas were so savory and nutty and authentic! Tacos are served with lime wedges and grilled scallions - such as nice extra authentic touch! Their hot sauces were also excellent (for me, this matters!) - ask for their hottest one if you love extra heat. We will definitely be going back to try some other menu items! Be sure to try and give them a try - a hardworking family-run local shop that has great food and rare-to-come-by, great service! read more

4.5 stars! Finally, authentic mexican food! We had Huarache de Longaniza con Papas, Tacos al Pastor, Large Guacamole and Tacos de Carne a la Parrilla for delivery. The guacamole was the perfect texture and seasoning but they didn't give enough chips! Only a couple chips in a plastic zip lock bag. The huarache was huge! but the flavor was kind of meh. The Al pastor was tasty with chunks of pineapple. The star was the carne a la parrilla. Will definitely get that again. Wish they had lengua and carnitas!! read more

El Huarache has some great food and is a much needed addition for Mexican food in Little Neck. I got the pollo huarache and it was delicious but unfortunately a little dry hence I knocked off a star. The portions aforementioned are more than reasonable and the service is great as well. Loved the chips and salsa to start! Came here for dinner last night and was thrown off at first because there was no other customers. My husband and I decided to stay anyway. Im so glad we did. The food was delicious. They gave us fresh chips and guacamole to start. The chips were so good. Since we were the only ones there the service was quick and effecient. My husband ordered the pork and pineapple sandwich. I got the combo fajitas, chicken, steak and shrimp. We both loved our meals. My two year old loved the french fries lol. Its a cute little restaurant with a great selection of food. Stopped by the other day to pick up some lunch and was so happy I found this place! really fun atmosphere and decorations. The staff were also very friendly and kind. We found this place while looking for tacos in the area. We ended up getting al pastor tacos, one of the specials which was a burrito with shrimp, chicken quesadilla, Mexican corn, and a Horchata to go. The guy also offered us chips and salsa while we waited, which was nice. The food was on point and one of the best Mexican places we've been to. We'll definitely be going back. Prices were also decent compared to other places. The only bad thing is they add 3% to the bill if paid by credit card. read more

Authentic, fresh, delicious! I'm so happy to find this small family restaurant. Every person is so friendly, the food may take a bit of a wait but that's because they're making it fresh and the food was just a delight! We ordered the chicken quesadilla, the street corn (they have 2 options- the corn on the cob or the corn in a bowl-which is very convenient for kids! And still delicious!) , regular huarache- I cut and folded with their spicy salsa- so creamy with a kick, steak tacos, and the scrambled eggs with chorizo and black beans and freshly made corn tortillas warm and so satisfying...everything was good. Amazing authentic Mexican food in Little Neck! This tiny mom-and-pop place recently opened but had zero internet footprint, small signage, and is easy to miss even though it's right on Northern Blvd. Delicious authentic tacos, great nachos, enchiladas, and honestly the best (free!) chips and green salsa. Seriously, I'd go and make a meal of just those tortilla chips. Bubbly, super crisp, light yet crunchy, perfectly salted. . . Just perfection. The huevos rancheros and el patron platter are also great! My favorite tacos are the al pastor, chorizo, carne a la parilla, and pork enchilada. The chef does a great job with all the dishes and often is also the one taking your order, and the service is so friendly. I hope word gets out about this place and it stays in business because it's so good and a very welcome addition to the neighborhood! read more

Second time around I tried the Tacos Dorados (prepared with/shrimp) that was excellent with the right amount of flavors. Pleased with my first visit here! Passed by this spot multiple times and finally decided to give it a try for take out one day. We ordered steak & al pastor tacos. Both were great, but I personally loved the pastor tacos! They also have homemade drinks like horchata and tamarind. The owner saw I was contemplating between the drinks and he gave me a drink on the house to try out. I forgot the name of the drink I got but it was refreshing and tart, exactly what I was looking for. These small actions make a large difference. Very difficult to find good mexican food around Queens unless you make the venture out to Jackson Heights/Elmhurst or Brooklyn. This place is ab excellent alternative! We ordered the Al Pastor Tacos and the Enchiladas to share. The portions were bigger than we expected and the flavor was great. Very mom and pop vibes with laminated menus and welcoming music. Really very disappointed. The first time I ate here I loved it. I had enchiladas suizas and it was great; very authentic. About a week ago, I ordered a carne burrito that was fresh and tasty. It came with a side of crispy fries. Today, I ordered another burrito and it was almost inedible. The meat was tough and not a good cut, but the burrito was made so messy I just ate a few bites with a fork and tossed it in the trash. The real shocker is there were no fries, just sliced up greasy potatoes. I'm so annoyed I wasted my money. I think it's a different cook/staff on the weekends because when I go on a week night it's good, but on a Sunday it's totally different. I almost ordered 2 burrito meals so my friend could try and I'm so glad I didn't. Now I'm cooking dinner because I'm still hungry. Really wish there was some consistency. I finally like Mexican food outside of Mexico! Our first visit was on cinco de mayo, with a large party, and the food was delicious. As for the review from another below re: cinco de mayo service- they are a new restaurant that just opened a few months ago. Give them a break, it is clearly a small family run business on their busiest day of the year. We just went back tonight to pick up dinner and the owners greeted us with such warmth, there was a mariachi singer there, felt good to support a family run business. And the food. This is my first Yelp review ever but this modest little restaurant deserves it. Not only is the food surprisingly delicious but the owners and staff are warm, welcoming and generous. They always offer something while waiting for take out and when eating in they take the time to talk to you and make you feel part of things. They even remember me from one visit to another which is something I never experienced before. I fully recommend. Everything is good but we particularly love the Burria tacos only served on weekends as well as the specials they offer which are always .. well... special! read more
