Three tacos filled with chopped meat, onions, cilantro, and green sauce are served on a white oval plate, garnished with lime wedges and radish slices.

Delicious authentic tacos. I loved the green sauce they gave with the complementary chips. Horchata is also great here too.

Shrimp Tacos. Chunks of freshly cooked shrimp. Simple goodness. - Shrimp tacos topped with chopped onions and cilantro, served with lime wedges, in a close-up view highlighting fresh ingredients.

What a lovely hidden gem in the local area! We were craving some really authentic Mexican Tacos and of course, we know there are options in Northwest Queens but we wanted to find something nearby. After axing out several spots we've tried before and didn't love (places so downhill so quickly sometimes!), we decided to follow the highest-rated option - El Huarache. And while we know that this is known for huaraches and alot more than just the tacos - we think that the tacos are always the standard test for how authentic a place might be. We ordered for Take-Out and can I just say .. how unbelievably sweet and homey the atmosphere and service was?! We met Ernesto, probably the owner - and he was so welcoming and friendly and professional. He told us it would be just a few minutes for our order while introducing us to some of his specials and answering our questions. They don't have a long list of taco-types, but we were fine with that. Because apparently they have what they do well and not a bunch of things to busy their menu. We ordered the set of beef and al pastor which come with 3 a set. We also added a chorizo and some shrimp tacos. The sets of 3 come with 1 for free as per their current promotion (call directly to order, or walk-in, dine-in .. not on the food apps). They were all delish and freshly prepared but we especially loved the Al Pastor and Chorizo. We were so impressed by the portions of fillings - compared to many spots that follow the street-taco style and give just a small portion of meat with other fillers. Here, no silly fillers like lettuce and tomato (Mexican tacos should not have these!) - just their marinaded grilled meat with bits of onion and cilantro and sauce, on two small corn tortillas. Their corn tortillas were so savory and nutty and authentic! Tacos are served with lime wedges and grilled scallions - such as nice extra authentic touch! Their hot sauces were also excellent (for me, this matters!) - ask for their hottest one if you love extra heat. We will definitely be going back to try some other menu items! Be sure to try and give them a try - a hardworking family-run local shop that has great food and rare-to-come-by, great service!

Chips and dip (complimentary) - A white bowl filled with tortilla chips and a small white ramekin of green salsa on a vibrant, striped tablecloth.

Loved my first visit here. Looked at the reviews on Yelp and Google so I figured to give it a try. First and foremost, the mom and pop shop are very friendly and welcoming when you walk in. I didn't expect the warmth just for asking for a take out menu. (Now that I have it, I'll order ahead to pick up). While we waited, they served us some chips and dip. Totally didn't expect that since we were ordering take out. It felt like we were dining there! The wait for our entrees were about 30 minutes because I ordered a lot! And I had not thought of what to get so it took some time with so many yummy options. The one thing I loved the most was my enchiladas... Chicken was the protein and the sauce with the slices of avocado, cheese and red onions was so delicious. There were red and green chili based sauces given on the side. I'm glad they didn't put it on my food as I'm not great with too much heat. Other items we enjoyed: - Mango salad, contains walnuts. Mangoes were super sweet, cranberries gave it a nice second layer of flavor, the walnuts and tossed salad was excellent. Dressing on the side. It was so refreshing it didn't even need the dressing but I tried it anyway, a red vinaigrette. - camarones (shrimp) with rice and asparagus, decent portion and lots of asparagus. Made eating out less guilty. Ha ha - chicken quesadilla, it was two large pieces and nicely presented. I would get this again. - torta con carne, came with fries. Wasn't sure how the beef was going to be made but my kiddo enjoyed it very much. I realize it was a sandwich (for dinner) but he didn't mind. Beef was nicely grilled and not dry. Very good. - flan (so good!) The owner was so nice and asked if it was my first visit which I said yes. She told me she hopes I will enjoy the food and hopes I'll return. I totally would but maybe next time, I'll eat in. Food was great on takeout so I'm sure it'll be even better sitting in.

Great portions. I loved the beef tacos and beef burrito and it came out fast. The beef burrito included fries.

El Huarache has some great food and is a much needed addition for Mexican food in Little Neck. I got the pollo huarache and it was delicious but unfortunately a little dry hence I knocked off a star. The portions aforementioned are more than reasonable and the service is great as well. Loved the chips and salsa to start! I will be back to try other things as I frequent the area regularly.

Ligit, old school Mexican restaurant. Food is always on point. Service is friendly and quick. Prices are great and food is fresh. This is an authentic Mexican restaurant, not like some in the area that sells "fast food."

Stopped by the other day to pick up some lunch and was so happy I found this place! really fun atmosphere and decorations. The staff were also very friendly and kind. You can see all of the food being cooked towards the back of the restaurant which was cool. The Burrito was probably the best item i tried, with the quesadilla a close second. Will definitely be back to try the tacos!

We found this place while looking for tacos in the area. We ended up getting al pastor tacos, one of the specials which was a burrito with shrimp, chicken quesadilla, Mexican corn, and a Horchata to go. The guy also offered us chips and salsa while we waited, which was nice. The food was on point and one of the best Mexican places we've been to. We'll definitely be going back. Prices were also decent compared to other places. The only bad thing is they add 3% to the bill if paid by credit card.

my order came quickly and the nachos were the best I've ever had. Usually nachos are soggy when delivered, but not these. Lots of meat too!

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant - Carne Asada Chimichanga

El Ranchero Mexican Restaurant

Not fluent in English, but very friendly service. They have an extensive menu! They give complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is a sweet tomato-y salsa and the chips are crisp. The Chimichanga with Cecina (Salted Beef) was stuffed! Crisp fried exterior, covered in flavorful red (tomato-y) and green (herb-y) sauces. The cecina is perfectly salted. I enjoyed the guac and chips (same as the complimentary chips) and pico on the side added freshness. They also have a house red and green sauce, which have a good kick and flavor to them. The Pineapple Juice is the right amount of sweetness and tart. I like that there's no ice so it's a full glass of juice! Overall a neat local spot to hit up for good food and friendly service (and a full bar!).

Surprisingly, it is a dish that is hard to find in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area especially in a sit down, comfortable restaurant. The Chilaquiles was a nice little plate of deliciousness - I loved the tangy green salsa soaked bed of tortilla with nicely fried over easy eggs (they way I ordered it). A fan of avocado, tomato and onions top the dish as well - it comes with a side of rice and beans. I recently returned when I was in the mood for enchiladas - they have combo option with beef, chicken and cheese. I ordered them divorced style with both red and green salsa. It comes blanketed with a shredded lettuce salad with tomato, onions and avocado. Rice and beans round out the dish. A couple of other dishes I tasted were the eggs with chorizo and the chimichanga - both were very good. I love their house salsas both a dark red and green one. They bring out tortilla chips with a thick salsa that is tomato-ey sweet. They have a full bar if you are so inclined and the service is very good here.

Ironically, earlier while trying to decide where to go for dinner, I had sent this restaurant to my friend but we ended up going somewhere else and came here for drinks afterward. The drinks were really good! We tried the "Sexy Oaxaca," which consists of 7 Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Cointreau, grilled pineapple, mint agave, fresh lemon, and warm salt. This drink takes your taste buds on a ride. It starts off light and refreshing with the mezcal throughout, then finishes with a smoky effect from the pineapple since it's lit. It was really good!! I also tried the "VIP Old Fashion," made with Patrón Extra Añejo, Nixta corn liqueur, Angostura, and orange bitters. This was also good and was smoked prior to being served, giving it a smoky aftertaste. It's definitely a drink you sip slowly. Although we arrived about an hour and a half before closing, the waiter was very polite and professional. They also didn't rush us out once it was closing time, which I appreciated. There were other customers still there enjoying themselves as well. I will definitely be back for dinner. I'm very curious to see what the food is like. I really enjoyed the drinks.

Nothing bad, but I felt like it could've been a bit better overall. The food was good though, I ordered the mixtos tacos, which let's you pick three different tacos from the menu. It was around $23, which is a little pricey. But the tacos were a decent size and definitely filling. My favorite thing I tried was the chori queso. I never had it before and it was honestly the standout dish for me. I would order that again. I also tried the enquites which is street corn. It had a bit of a burnt taste. I know some people enjoy that smokey flavor, but it really wasn't for me. Overall, it was a nice time and for some of the dishes too.

This is Mexican food with a twist. There is all your favorites here and then some. After the New York Times paid a visit here a few months back, the reputation of this little restaurant in Sunnyside takes on a new meaning to flavor. I got three items, all of which had varying degrees of success. The main item I wanted to try was their famed Fried Chicken Cemita, or a Mexican sandwich layered with just about everything the kitchen sink throws at you. Considering I live where Doña Zita roams as the king of the Cemita, this has big shoes to fill. After taking a bite, and making one big mess, I knew I made the right choice. So much flavor and texture going on that I could not figure out how to attack the next few bites. My only criticism is that it is a little on the small side, and I was still hungry after eating one. I had to order something else. That is when I went full San Diego on this restaurant and got a fish and a shrimp taco. The fish taco is great but you cannot eat the fish with the taco. Otherwise it falls apart. The other flavors are there but it should be as one happy family, not two separate entities. That is how I felt eating this. Unfortunately you order individually with these it can get pricey quickly. The shrimp taco has the same criticisms. Like the fish tacos, these are also ordered individually. I like that the shrimp is succulent and there are three large shrimp in the taco, but this is a taco, not a Po Boy. I should not have shrimp spilling out the shell for me to pick later. It should be one harmonious flavor packed into a shell. I did not get that here. San Diego, you are safe for now as having the best fish tacos. In another review, I mentioned that New York is not known for Mexican food. A good one is a big fish in a little pond. I will be back here to try more food items here, as my selection for good Mexican food in New York is pretty limited. As long as I do not end up in one of the nearby cemeteries first.
