Yummy Taco has been a fan favorite for a very long time between my friends and me. We used to order from here all the time, or sometimes just walk over when we lived in the neighborhood. They've done so much with this place, but it still gives you that real, good-deal Tex-Mex feel. The menu has expanded a lot and now includes more trending and popular items, which makes it great because there's truly a little something for everybody. Still, my go-to favorites never change: the taco salad bowl in that crunchy, delicious tostada shell, the chicken tacos, the steak tacos, and every now and then the shrimp tacos if I'm feeling fancy. I always ask for extra sour cream and salsa. Speaking of salsa, the recipe has definitely changed over the years. It's gotten a bit spicier. While it's still really good, I'll admit that as I've gotten older, I can't handle the heat quite like I used to. These places tend to be hit or miss, but this time it was a straight up home run. Yummy Taco was a very pleasant surprise on a recent lunch order with co-workers. Had the beef quesabirria which was hot fresh and super flavorful. But what put it over the top believe it or not was the accompanying sauces. They had a bunch to choose from, but I went with the coco lime mayo and the salsa verde aioli. Coco was pretty good but not necessarily the best pairing with this dish. The salsa verde aioli however was a match made in heaven - I was genuinely annoyed that I didn't have more of it. Also got a bag of their fresh made tortilla chips with mango salsa and let me tell you that was one good salsa, perfect hit of cilantro to compliment the sweetness of the mango, truly an enjoyable treat. I really enjoyed the food here. We got soft tacos, hard tacos, and loaded nachos. The beef is pretty spicy so be aware of that in case you don't enjoy spicy. The steak tacos were delicious and not spicy so get those if you prefer non-spice. The food was ready in about 15 minutes. There is metered street and side street parking so get delivery because parking can be tough around there. It is basically just a store front/takeout place so no seating available. I'm still house sitting for my folks in Fresh Meadows and ordered some delivery for lunch the other day. I remember having some pretty good tex mex from New Yummy Taco years ago and was excited when I found them again on Yelp with online ordering as an option. When I opened it up, I immediately thought "hmmm it looks like they forgot the guac". Upon inspection, I realized that they did not forget however I kind of wish they did. It wasn't green, it was gray/yellow. I was very nervous but did one of those quick tongue taste tests you see old-school cops do in the movies, when they see oil residue on the street or a mysterious powder on the floor. I've been in the restaurant service industry and I would never serve a customer anything looking like this. Overall, the steak was rubbery and the entire thing needed a ton of sauce. Did some take outs twice, both time I had a very bad experience. First of all when you call in to place a orders, this lady who answered was very rude and annoyed. I asked three simply questions regarding there menu, sadly they don't know there own menu very well. When I asked about the menu the women sounded very annoyed. First question I asked regarding their lunch menu, are burrito part of the lunch menu. The minute I mention lunch special, they said the lunch special was over, mean while lunch time was on the menu, between 11:30 - 3:30pm I called in at 3pm. Second question I asked was, what's the portion size of there side order jalapeños?. The lady said side order cost 3$ to $6 from 4 ounce to 8 ounce. What I was kinda confused was on there menu, add on is $1. The menu was very confusing and deceiving. First of all, you walking to a Mexican spot, jalapeño should be free, this place not only over charge for jalapeño, they have three different prices for jalapeños on the menu. Last question I asked was, if it was delivered a block away, is it free. The answer was no, there is a delivery charge is $7, wtf ! And that does not including tip. They want me to pay $7 and on to of that tips for delivery, within 0.7 miles. I am so close to this place, from then I stopped ordering from this spot. read more

I love coming to Yummy Taco! It reminds me of my college days. The food is Tex-Amex. And yes, in New York City that typically equates to Asian people making some delicious Mexican fast food. The food is fresh and prepared as you wait. The menu is extensive and you can let them know what to leave in or take out. They have sodas and Snapple's as well. Parking can be tight on Union Turnpike (beware of the speed cameras as you race to catch a spot). Just decent. It wasn't the best but you get what you get for the price. The guacamole didn't have enough avocado and just didn't taste that great in my steak fajita. The chicken steak was not bad but everything else inside the soft taco was bland. My husband liked the tortilla from the fajita though. The super fajitas appeared and looked like a big portion but underneath all the good stuff was just rice. Again, my husband praised the tortilla because it actually smelled and tasted fresh unlike other places he's been to. And it's pretty decent for the price you pay and for being the only Mexican food place in my neighborhood that delivers here. I ordered the Chicken Fajitas, 2 ground beef soft shell tacos and 1 steak & chicken soft shell taco. The food didn't really come hot, more like lukewarm. None of it is really fresh, you can tell they just pre-make everything and throw it together when ordered. You get a lot of it. The ground beef tasted weird, I wasn't a fan. Same for the steak (it all just tasted old and fake). My main issue is that the fajitas barely came with any peppers and onions (which is pretty much what fajitas are, no?). It's mostly rice. I would definitely ask for extra of those and less rice if you order it honestly. Everything else was ok. Not really sure if I would order from here again, probably not. read more

Most of the stuff I've tried here are good. I love their soft taco dough. It's different from real Mexican tacos, but that's why I think it tastes better! (No offense to Mexican tacos). It IS a bit odd that they're all Asians, making tacos, but they're quite friendly, and they MAKE IT GOOD. They make it right on the spot, right in front of you with their high tech machinery, while you stand there in wonderment. I had a craving for a quesadilla the other night. Seeing as how it was around 11, I realized all the Mexican places where I was were closed, oh but wait not "YUMMY" Taco. I ordered a chicken quesadilla with jalapenos. I quickly glanced around the place to notice the all Asian staff and the less than clean seating area. All of a sudden a loud whirring noise sounded, and I looked to see the dough being flattened in a high tech machine. Soon my quesadilla was being made. A young Asian lad with ear buds in ear and cell phone in hand put a glove on with the other hand and proceeded to make the quesadillas as an older woman (mom?) looked on smiling. I really didn't care as long as my quesadilla tasted good. Well after about 5 dollars later (is that even a good price? i dont think so), I was eating what I hoped to be a delicious quesadilla. I was sadly proven wrong. The cheese had melted into what became a hard crust almost along the edges, and the sour cream had no taste. The chicken tasted alright, but the jalapenos were not a good mix. Street, metered parking that is hard to even get a spot in. Overall a bad experience and a somewhat costly one at that.
