Pastor taco & tacos de Barbacoa

"An authentic taste of Mexico" in New York, Miami and dirty D.C. - the crime rate there is unsettling, such as we've got here and its becoming very dirty here, the statistics are friendly fluffed as the streets crumble below my feet. Dude started it in a VW bus in Mexico apparently and like most of my peers that ever sat in one, they're cool as the underside of the pillow. Combi is a bus I think, my bilingual skills are atrocious so I had to look that word up. I lived in Mexico, Rosario to be exact however I'm not making the immefiate authenticity connection as I'm reflecting back upon my meal, but there's still time for that. I remember reaching up for some of my street meals, up to the server in a truckish vehicle, never sitting much of the time. Tecate swirling in my glass, sun on my cheeks and necklace in my hand. Back to Tacombi, thankfully there was no signs of Tex Mex on the menu, rice in burritos? That's just wrong on all culinary, economic and social levels, a cheap filler in my opinion. Then the murder of a pretty word by the calls for "more guac please", just use the full word. It's a beautiful word to speak, I feel the desire to See my fingers in an upward fanning motion when I say it. Guac,a,moooleee.. Austin Street certainly needed a taco spot, tired of going to Bushwack (Bushwick) and Corona. Unpretentiously large with simple white walls, thin tin chairs and exposed grills with Mexican chilies scenting the air and the Mexican cheese swimming upon my first delicious bite. I didn't see the processes of turning bags of corn into corn tortillas, but I could sense it. On my plate they sat smiling back at me, beautifully imperfect, uniquely different - leaving a feeling of love for the traditional experiences of a beautiful land.

Returned for Taco Tuesday deal again (BOGO free taco, lowest price get deducted) and Happy hour (4-6pm). Didn't realize they change the menu options which made this visit better. Was happy to see new items. We liked the taco de barbacoa -with charred salsa and spicy mix of chilies (asked for this on the side when given the option so can control the amount of heat). Birria, and baja fish were still good here, chicken tinga too. Michelada with Monopolia $5 HH price

My friend and I ate here last night and absolutely loved it! The restaurant has ample seating and is adorable with the string lights. The servers and staff here are so friendly and welcoming. What is really incredible, though, is the food. The homemade salsas are amazing with the perfect spice. The chips are made in house snd the guac... you can tell it's authentic and fresh. It's not made with olive oil so it's GOOD!! The tacos... to die for. The avocado tostada is amazing and vegetarian friendly. I also tried the crispy chicken tinga and it was phenomenal. My friend had the birria and steak taco and loved both of them. And I would like to add... the corn esquites? You must try them! I will be back!!!

Anytime I'm hungry and in the area, you'll see me at tacombi. My favorite is their Baja crispy fish and their agua de piña.

First time trying this location, and as always, the food did not disappoint! The fish taco was definitely my favorite -- fresh, flavorful, and perfectly done. The avocado tostada was packed with a mix of vibrant flavors that really stood out. Service was pretty good, and the prices were affordable, which is always a plus. There's also a bar on-site, though I didn't get a chance to try it this time. Casual atmosphere -- no need to dress up, just stop by and enjoy a great bite to eat.

Stephanie was my server, and she did a wonderful job placing my order. I really enjoyed the food while also watching how they prepared it--everything was so clean and neat. The whole atmosphere felt comfortable, almost like being in another country. I tried the new crispy chicken on the menu, and it was amazing--just one piece was enough to make two tacos. I kept it simple with water this time, but I was already so full. Of course, I couldn't resist finishing with the Churros with chocolate dip, which was the perfect sweet ending to a great meal. The food, service, and atmosphere all come together beautifully here. I'll definitely be back!

Took my family to Tacombi after an afternoon out, and we had a great time. My mom ordered the carne asada burrita, while my brother and I went for the rib eye burrita. The rib eye version came stuffed with seared ribeye, French fries, Chihuahua cheese, and refried beans. The flavors were delicious. The sharp bite of the Chihuahua cheese really stood out but we wished there was more steak and fewer fries since the burrito leaned HEAVY on the potatoes. My mom's carne asada burrita, on the other hand, was perfect. Every ingredient felt balanced, and the cabbage added just the right crunch and brightness. The green and red salsas were both so good spicy, tangy, and full of flavor. The servers were attentive and kind, the vibe was bright and welcoming, and I loved being able to see the food prepared right in front of us. Get the guac too

Came for Taco Tuesday Lunch and were happily surprised they had a BOGO deal for Tuesdays- we came on the right day! The interior has many tables and lots of seats available. Each table comes with its own coat/bag hanger. And there's a sink for customers to use because we know tacos can get pretty messy! I think those little details to attention are worth noting! In terms of food, we ordered 2 Baja crispy Fish tacos, a beef birria taco and a crispy chicken tinga taco. I usually order the fried fish tacos everywhere I would normally order tacos so I was expecting a lot since it usually is my favorite by far. However, these Baja crispy fish tacos while crispy to perfection, was lacking in flavor and badly falling apart in our hands with a single bite. We found that while the birria and the chicken tinga tacos were double tortilla-ed, the fish ones were single which is our guess as to why they were the only ones falling apart and not the other ones! The birria taco was very good! It came with consomé on the side but wasn't really needed as the taco itself was already very flavorful and packed with so much meat. The chicken tinga one was also flavorful with a slight kick of welcomed spice! For drinks I ordered the Agua de Sandia which is basically watermelon juice, and my friend ordered the horchata. The drinks here were a bit lacking in flavor. The horchata wasn't creamy but more like cinnamon water. Slightly disappointing there. Here's to hoping that it was an off day to the chef who made the fish tacos! I really expected much better.

Went on a Saturday around noon and there was no wait. Everyone was very friendly, food came quickly, and they even gave us a test of an upcoming menu item - chicken tortilla soup! Looking forward to that being a seasonal menu item. All of the food was very fresh, will definitely be going again. We had 2 tacos each, shared small guac between two and shared the corn. If you are more hungry, I recommend three tacos. I am gluten free and never have any issues with Tacombi as they use corn tortilla. Pictured is the Beef Birria which is an all time favorite!

Came here for Taco Tuesday and it was worth it! We left fully satisfied and we'll definitely go again. We got our monies worth.

Takeout tacos definitely do not hit the same way as eating there. The tacos were stale and soggy. But the fish and pork was good. Pork was a tad bit dry, but overall it was fine.

Ribeye Quesadilla (greasy and yucky and small) for $16.

Oops. Went from 4 to 2 stars in a year. This is strictly for pick up (by me) and not in house service. Order was ready when I arrived Host was friendly Order was correct Got home and saw order I've included a photo so you can see the small, greasy, poor excuse for a quesadilla that I received. $16 for this? Super disappointed. I took a bite. The flavor was fine. The grease was overwhelming and there was no avocado crema (or whatever they call it). The rice and beans were fine. If I had eaten at the spot and been served this I would have sent it back immediately.

Back again for their Taco Tuesday BOGO dining in only! Such a great deal but most importantly yummy delicious food! Service is super quick good bc I was hungry bc I didn't have any breakfast today except for a small bottle of OJ. We sat in the back at same table as last time bc it was actually super sunny today! The seats in the front seemed to be in the skyview which was sunnier and warm.

Not fluent in English, but very friendly service. They have an extensive menu! They give complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is a sweet tomato-y salsa and the chips are crisp. The Chimichanga with Cecina (Salted Beef) was stuffed! Crisp fried exterior, covered in flavorful red (tomato-y) and green (herb-y) sauces. The cecina is perfectly salted. I enjoyed the guac and chips (same as the complimentary chips) and pico on the side added freshness. They also have a house red and green sauce, which have a good kick and flavor to them. The Pineapple Juice is the right amount of sweetness and tart. I like that there's no ice so it's a full glass of juice! Overall a neat local spot to hit up for good food and friendly service (and a full bar!).

Surprisingly, it is a dish that is hard to find in the Flushing/Fresh Meadows area especially in a sit down, comfortable restaurant. The Chilaquiles was a nice little plate of deliciousness - I loved the tangy green salsa soaked bed of tortilla with nicely fried over easy eggs (they way I ordered it). A fan of avocado, tomato and onions top the dish as well - it comes with a side of rice and beans. I recently returned when I was in the mood for enchiladas - they have combo option with beef, chicken and cheese. I ordered them divorced style with both red and green salsa. It comes blanketed with a shredded lettuce salad with tomato, onions and avocado. Rice and beans round out the dish. A couple of other dishes I tasted were the eggs with chorizo and the chimichanga - both were very good. I love their house salsas both a dark red and green one. They bring out tortilla chips with a thick salsa that is tomato-ey sweet. They have a full bar if you are so inclined and the service is very good here.
