This place has been added to my recommendations of taco spots. The food here is really good. I went with a group of friends and we each got a good amount of food. We had about 7 tacos, 1 burrito, consome soup, 5 drinks and it all came out to less than $100. Nice to note is that they have a seating area in the back of the spot, so it's nice that there is a dining in area. However, some heat in the back would be nice. The chicken tacos that I got were really good, cilantro and onions added, the sauces were a great touch to it, especially the orange looking one which was super spicy, something you'll love if you're a person that loves spice. Great local spot to get authentic Mexican food located underneath the Woodhaven station. Incredibly easy to place an order online (especially if you need to make modifications) -- they even have a reward system on their website. I ordered: * Al Pastor Taco * Carnitas Taco * Carne Asada flour Quesadilla ($10.80) with extra lettuce for 85 cents * Lengua Flour Quesadilla ($11.90) with guacamole for $1.95 I'm from the Bay Area and these tacos very much reminded me of the tacos I used to get at home. Outstanding taqueria. The tacos here are as good as any street style tacos that I've had anywhere in NYC, Austin, San Francisco, or Mexico City. The value here is excellent too. Tacos range from $3ish to $5 which is great for a taco post inflation. We shared six tacos. The best was the alambra. It's one of their house special and is listed on the last page of the menu. It should be one the first page. It's a must order! We both really liked the birria taco too. I was also a big fan of the cabeza tacos which were ultra tender and the lechuga which were super succulent. The pastor taco was great too. The only taco which I wouldn't recommend was the suadero which was dry. It provided an opportunity to try their sauces which were superb, so I'm glad we ordered it because it prompted me to try the sauces. No alcohol here. The have a takeout counter plus seating for approximately twenty in the back. There was one waitress managing the seating area and she was great. Very attentive and kept the area very clean. La Ruta Del Taco needs to start bottling and selling their sauces because they don't know the magic that they bring. I wasn't aware of the secret sauce until I dined in for the first time. My partner and I ordered a variety of tacos, a steak quesadilla, and loaded nachos and we moved to the seating area to see a cooler with sauces and pickled onions for toppings. The tacos alone are amazing with the tender meat, great seasoning, and fresh herb garnish. But pair these tacos with one or all of their sauces? *cue chef's kiss* Wow. All the sauces with the exception of the guacamole sauce pack the perfect amount of heat to have your mouth salivating without the killer effects of a ghost pepper. All the sauces are extremely flavorful and I would take the whole cooler of salsa roja, salsa verde, habanero, and guac sauce if I could. I can't sing the same praise for the steak quesadilla or the nachos because I found them standard, but they can satisfy a common craving. As for the atmosphere, you don't have to worry about being fancy. Wear a pair of sweats and a T-shirt and come out for a spontaneous late night date. The staff behind the counter are very friendly and make you feel welcome. You can feel the authenticity from the people and the decor on the walls. They have a beautiful portrait of a working Mexican woman and also had sombreros lying around on Cinco de Mayo. Casual and fun. La Ruta Del Taco has become a favorite late night hangout spot for me. I ordered via Uber eats last night on a whim, the birria tacos combo. The consume was good and the tacos were filled with tender beef but the food was missing salt and some seasoning for sure. I wish they came with cheese. The price is great though and their green sauces are delicious. If the food had more seasoning I would have loved that. Los Tacos No1 in the city is alright and Taco Veloz is probably the best i've had in NYC but this place is a really stinking solid. My go to is the carnitas tostadas. The staff is very friendly, their sauces are amazing, and I really love the different birria items they have, the birria torta is my favorite.
