Birria Tacos
Eszee R.

My go to birria taco spot when I can't get to the truck in Jackson Heights. Every single item I've tried here has been delish! The fish tacos are really good as well. And they are not stingy with the amount of meat the put in anything you order.

Forgot to take a picture, first had a shredded beef on a flour tortilla grilled to perfection. Then I had a fish burrito with fires inside I was missing the coleslaw but I didn't ask for it thought it can with. Add a lil bit for some spicy mayo and ketchup and to wash it down a coke on ice. Dame it was good

Great local spot to get authentic Mexican food located underneath the Woodhaven station. Incredibly easy to place an order online (especially if you need to make modifications) -- they even have a reward system on their website. I ordered: * Al Pastor Taco * Carnitas Taco * Carne Asada flour Quesadilla ($10.80) with extra lettuce for 85 cents * Lengua Flour Quesadilla ($11.90) with guacamole for $1.95 I'm from the Bay Area and these tacos very much reminded me of the tacos I used to get at home. They're loaded with fresh toppings, grilled onion, cilantro, and radishes. The quesadillas were very filling with lettuce, meat, and cheese. They are amazing with the salsa habanero, you have to get it if you love spicy, otherwise the green salsa is a mild alternative. I'm definitely returning back to try out their burritos and other dishes. I'm glad I stumbled across this place.

This place is so good! Their birrea tacos are sooo delicious ! As well as their pastor tacos. I didn't take a pic of them because I gobbled them down! Lol

Chicken Tacos and Steak Quesadilla

La Ruta Del Taco needs to start bottling and selling their sauces because they don't know the magic that they bring. I wasn't aware of the secret sauce until I dined in for the first time. My partner and I ordered a variety of tacos, a steak quesadilla, and loaded nachos and we moved to the seating area to see a cooler with sauces and pickled onions for toppings. The tacos alone are amazing with the tender meat, great seasoning, and fresh herb garnish. But pair these tacos with one or all of their sauces? *cue chef's kiss* Wow. All the sauces with the exception of the guacamole sauce pack the perfect amount of heat to have your mouth salivating without the killer effects of a ghost pepper. All the sauces are extremely flavorful and I would take the whole cooler of salsa roja, salsa verde, habanero, and guac sauce if I could. I can't sing the same praise for the steak quesadilla or the nachos because I found them standard, but they can satisfy a common craving. As for the atmosphere, you don't have to worry about being fancy. Wear a pair of sweats and a T-shirt and come out for a spontaneous late night date. The staff behind the counter are very friendly and make you feel welcome. You can feel the authenticity from the people and the decor on the walls. They have a beautiful portrait of a working Mexican woman and also had sombreros lying around on Cinco de Mayo. Casual and fun. La Ruta Del Taco has become a favorite late night hangout spot for me. It's only a matter of time before the word spreads and I'm not the only one waiting in line. Until then I'll happily enjoy my late night tacos in peace.

Their tacos are the best tacos I've had in NYC. Los Tacos #1 was my favorite. I had a chorizo and…read moreal pastor taco. Although the al pastor is not cut fresh off the spit, it was still moist and crisp. They put slices of radish and cilantro on top. Chorizo is hard to mess up but with the cilantro and onions, it was perfect! But what really makes their tacos special are the corn tortillas. They must dip them in the meat drippings and then throw them on the grill because they are extra delicious. Their sauces are excellent too. Warning, it's just a food cart and there's no place to sit.

As a longtime resident and foodie of the world's borough, I can tell you that Tacos 3 Hermanos will NOT disappoint and will leave your taste buds completely satisfied. I've passed by this food truck almost daily during my commute to work on the busy Jamaica ave and finally decided to stop by today for some grub. I usually get tacos from a taco truck (duh) but settled for a torta de bistec today and boy oh boy was it worth it. The bread was fluffy and crisp, toppings were fresh, and the steak was packed full of flavor. They have a selection of additional sauces to choose from if you so desire, verde, rojo, and some chilis. And what better drink to wash down this mouth-watering meal than a Jarritos of course. If you're in the mood for some good tasting, decently priced Mexican street food, then look nowhere else and check out Tacos 3 Hermanos, you will not regret it!

Even though this vendor sells tacos pequeño (small tacos, 2-3 bites), they are $3-4 each, which is not cheap. For that reason, I can't give them 5 stars. It's quite pricey considering that most full size tacos are selling for about $4.50-5.50 nowadays on the streets, but double in size. With that said, I appreciate the smaller size for me to enjoy more variety every time I stop by. My favorites change from visit to visit, but generally I always get Suadero (roast meat), Campechano (roast meat & sausage), Buche (pork stomach), Cabeza (beef head), and Lengua (beef tongue). I also like the extra weird parts like Cesos (beef brain) and Ojos (beef eye). However, the texture is very mushy and definitely not for everyone. As accompaniments, for every two tacos you order, they also give you a long stem onion that is quite tender and delicious. On the down side, instead of the traditional lime and radish that most places give, Tacos El Borrego offers lemon and cucumbers. I'm not sure why, except maybe they are cheaper options than the normal garnishes. Also, don't forget the flavorful green and red sauces on the table if you are eating there. Otherwise, ask for some to go. I miss the days when our group of friends would get a few tacos late at night after a party or night out drinking. The prices are no longer the same, but the food is still perfect for sobering up while having some laughs on the streets during the warm months. I think back to those days fondly whenever I'm at a taco stand nowadays, and Tacos El Botrego is one of my favorites in NYC.
