I use to come to the one on 90th st all the time! I lived near here and wow this always satisfied the hunger. I came here recently and I think they lowered the quality of their ingredients. Looking for something different on a late Saturday night, and this spot was pretty lively. Basic storefront with a menu up top and an awning to wait while your order comes out. Options are mostly based on tostadas and tacos, with some other Mexican standbys. Settled on the Al Pastor Burrito ($10) and a Pollo Taco ($4). Food comes out within a few minutes, packed well in containers. Are the taco on the walk back. Good tortilla and basic ingredients inside. Burrito has a lot of flavor, and the meat inside is plentiful (not just rice). Perfect with some hot sauce. No fuss place and better than the trucks nearby. Delicious super filling mexican food just a couple stops from Mets Stadium. I used to go to Taco Veloz years ago and decided to visit recently after visiting the US Open. Just as good as I remember. They have lots of different toppings and a pretty thorough selection of tacos, tortas (sandwiches), and burritos. The service is fast and friendly. Eating in means standing and eating at the counter which is perfect for late night with some friends. The tacos slap. The only change I would make is for fresh tortillas. Still on the hunt for the best tacos Went here on a late weekday night. I was one of only a few customers that was waiting outside. They do have good tacos but I wish they didn't reheat meats on the grill. It would have been so much better if it was fresh. However still good nonetheless, I recommend going on a weekend or maybe Friday night when there are more customers so you can get fresh meat and not reheated on the grill. How have I missed out on these 24 hour tacos until now!?!? The variety of available tacos is incredible. Is there anything missing off the menu that you could possible want on a taco? Everything is made super fast and comes out super hot with Cilantro and Onions on request. On a recent visit, I tried the Spicy Chicken, Al Pastor, Goat Tacos, Carnitas and Pollo Tacos. All the meats were tender were with the goat tacos being my favorite. There's not much room to stand and eat. Actually there is really no room to stand and eat. If you are able squeeze out what little counter space is available, be prepared to eat quickly. Traffic in this neighborhood is just short of a nightmare and parking is always tight. Went Friday night and was very underwhelmed by the quality. The meats were all thrown on the flattop from containers sitting out at room temp. And only heated for a moment they were like warm and a breeding ground for bacteria. Luckily no one got sick but the general lack of care into the preparation was unfortunate. For one the chicken in our tostadas inclined a fist size knuckle of chicken tendon and fat that I couldn't believe made it onto our plate. Inedible. *4.5 stars* I've had some really great tacos in my lifetime, and Taco Veloz is easily one of the best places I've been to in NYC. Taco Veloz inhabits an open kitchen with a counter area that was covered by weather plastic to account for the November chill when I was there this past Saturday. I imagine in the dead of winter you will want to get a takeout order. I chose 2 tacos: chivo and chorizo. The goat was fantastic, juicy, yet crispy, steaming hot, and so savory. The chorizo was a perfect specimen as well. It will be hard to deviate from this order in the future. I had a bite of my husband's huitlacoche quesadilla, smothered in crema and stuffed with rajas, and can whole-heartedly recommend that for a vegetarian choice. The only complaint I can muster is that I wish they had a better salsa bar, and that the meat was perhaps slightly less fatty. They also don't make homemade tortillas, a practice that the absolute best taquerias employ. I know, I know, I'm being overly picky. These were some outstanding tacos. read more

We came from Manhattan to try these tacos and to say the least, they definitely had good tacos! I think they had many options and were good sized but the only great things about the taco were the meat. The tortilla did not really compliment the meat as they are store bought and not hand made there at the restaurant. This place was awesome! The portions of meat were generous, and the green sauce helped balance the taco. They offer radish and limes as garnish, and double the corn tortilla so that it doesnt get wet and fall apart on your paper plate. Theyre also speedy- Four tacos took like five min to cook. I liked the spicy pork the best, but the steak and regular pork were also fire. You can scarf down your food on the counter top, but maybe dont take too long because it gets crowded? Pretty good taco place. Everything is made to order. We had the tostadas al pastor, taco w/carnitas and Horchata. (1) Tostada al pastor were pretty good. They didn't skimp on the ingredients like some other places that think they are serving a taco on a tostada. Meat was tasty, beans were on point, nice cream and cheese on top. The only thing for me was the al pastor overall, there was a complete absence of pineapple bits. I don't know about you but I eat al pastor just for the fact that it was grilled with pineapple and you LONG for that burst of sweetness while you're eating. An absence just doesn't cut it for this particular item. =/ (2) Taco w/carnitas was very good. Meat was good, tasty, soft and juicy. This was my favorite taco here. Add the guacamole sauce and salsa, squeeze of lime, much on radishes together. Yum.... Horchata was a bit watery for me, but the flavor is there. For 13 dollars with 2 tostada and 2 tacos is a steal. Carnitas (soft juicy pork) The tacos are big. 2 would be a full meal for an average person, 3 for a big eater. For $3.00-$3.50 each this is a good deal because they are stuffed with meat. Tacos come with a generous cup of guacamole salsa and a smaller cup of red salsa. The guacamole salsa is not spicy but the red one is. They also give you limes and radishes. It's a takeout window on the side of a building. There is a little plastic barrier around it. It has always been this way. Including pre-covid. They have other things like tostadas and tortas. I've only tried the tacos. Right by the 7 train. Parking is difficult in this area. Open 24 hours. Amazing tacos in a neighborhood with many great taco options. Worth traveling for. read more

If you're hungry late at night there aren't too many options but this sure is a good one. I came here around 2am and they still had a small line of people. I had the steak and carnitas tostada and to my delight the tostada still tasted fresh. That's a pretty tough feat but I guess they're almost 24 hours so they know how to make it work. I thought the carnitas were on point and had enough fat and to me thats one of the best indicators of a good mexican place. I'll be a customer anytime im in the neighborhood. read more

Literally just finished eating my tacos. Yelp says 24/7. But they actually opened at 6:30pm on Thursday. This location had a few people lined up while they were setting up. They unfortunately didn't have a take out menu but its the same as any taco truck. I had 1 steak, 2 spicy chicken, 2 salted beef, and 2 spicy pork & my favorite jarritos grapefruit. Total came out to 22$ and was well worth the CHEAP total. They had already put in all the veggies, sauces, limes into the bag while packing the tacos. The meats were so tender and juicy unlike the inconsistent trucks. I just can't see myself going elsewhere. This place is straight fire. Wow! I moved to NYC recently and have been looking for a place to replace my last favorite authentic taco spot back home...and THIS IS IT! I had the Bistec tacos (incredible) with onions, cilantro, and both salsas! They also give you a ton of limes, jalapeños, and radishes (game changer). The tacos were $3 each which was inexpensive already but when I tell you they are FULL TACOS... I normally could eat 5-6 tacos but I could barely finish my fourth and I'm a big eater. As far as I'm concerned, late night eats are a wonderful thing - especially in the form of tacos. Taco Veloz in all its grimy, divy glory gets a thumbs up for producing some of the better tacos along Roosevelt Ave. If one isn't feeling the trucks, feel free to head on over here, where quality Mexican grub is served all day, all night. Start small with the tacos, which are slightly below the street standard at $2 each. Whether you're all about the asada, cecina, chorizo, or carnitas, they do it well. It's a little more expensive for premium meats like orejas (pig ears), lengua (beef tongue) or chivo (goat) but all worth it. I haven't fared as well with the pollo or their al pastor, both key choices in any taco scene. The chicken isn't as meaty but is more of a mesh of fat, skin, and other bits. This can be common with how some northern Mexican meats like carnitas, but it isn't my favorite. Al pastor is always a great thing when they have a spit where they can trim the meat directly but there isn't always one available. The cast of characters will vary from night to night, but the ambiance is as dodgy as any Mexican hole in the wall in Jackson Heights / Corona. The guys working the counter are a friendly bunch but English can be a bit limited. If speaking Spanish is at all a burden, relief can be found in the form of a picture menu. read more
