this place feels very authentically mexican which is impressive and lovely. the complimentary chips and salsa and the tacos were amazing. waitresses are very friendly and they have regulars at the bar on weekday evenings.
really good quesabirria!! Open late with yummy agua frescas. Service is fast and attentive. Always busy inside but there is a ton of seating. They have a big menu as well.
Great food, the only reason why I'm giving 3 stars is because there is a charge of service of $22? in this place. Service charge? If this is intended to be part of waitress tips it is not right to charge your card and then bring the receipt to the customer with a copy and put tip again. Service charge in one ticket and tip charge in the copy for customer? This is how you're gonna lose customers, I don't recommend this place to go and eat, the bigger the party is the bigger the charge is. And besides that you have to tip again to the waitress? Not coming back, overcharging customers is not a way to survive in business. No lo recomiendo este lugar te cobra por servicio y aparte tienes que dejar tips.
i tried the al pastor taco & the huevos chilaquiles! the al pastor taco was absolutely loaded with meat & toppings, and the meat itself was so juicy! i really enjoyed the green sauce on the chilaquiles, but be warned -- it is quite spicy. the chilaquiles comes with beans on the side, which definitely helps to mellow out the spice! their tacos are either $5 or $6, and the price is definitely worth it for the portion sizes & quality of food.
I got their birria taco, lengua taco, and Carne asada taco for about $18 with tax, and I was completely stuffed by the end. The portion sizes are huge and they put a huge dollop of guacamole on top. The Carne asada was a bit chewier, so I recommend their beef tounge taco instead. The birria taco was also very good, but can get a bit messy because of all the sauce. I made the mistake of waiting 15 minutes to eat it because I was just so full, and by the time I got to it, the tortillas were starting to rip. The minute you sit down, they offer you chips and salsa, be warned, their salsa has a kick!! But it was so good, I kept eating. Their menu is extensive and ther are so many options, but their tacos really shine. Wonderful place to get some amazing tacos, and it's guaranteed to fill you up.
A hole in the wall in Jackson Heights. So many interesting places here. I've lived here all my life but had not stepped foot into this place. Mainly due to the fact, that I don't speak Spanish whatsoever but staff was very welcoming and helpful. I've been craving authentic tacos (cause the Homemade Taqueria a block away doesn't satisfy my cravings) I've decided to try this place and I'm so glad I did. As soon as you sit down, the waitress brought me nachos to munch on. The prices here. Come now. I'm surprised that it's so reasonable and portions are huge for the price you pay. I like how the menu is very descriptive and illustrative. I've decided to go for the pico de gallo (side $5), 2 carne asada tacos (team guacamole here!), a nice pretty drink (forgotten the name) complete with cute decor since I went on July 4th. I've throughly enjoyed my time here. I'm looking forward to coming here again and trying out the whole menu c:
I could have sworn I wrote a review for Taqueria Coatzingo before but apparently not! I've been coming here for yearssss! I've celebrated so many friends' birthdays here, and have come here just for great authentic Mexican food! They never disappoint. Tacos: Their tacos are fantastic and HUGE; totally stuffed and delicious! They have a nice variety of tacos on their menu. The hard part, as usual, is picking which ones to order. I mean, how many of these huge tacos can you eat?! lol They're usually served with a side of chopped onions, cilantro and lime wedges; if you don't get this, definitely ask them for it. And there are several kinds of hot sauce on the table; pick which one suits you, or have your tacos without hot sauce. Either way, these tacos are delicious and so satisfying! Soups (all served with a side of warm Tortillas): There are soooo many delicious soups on their menu! My fave is always the Mole Verde Res Soup. It's a slightly spicy beef rib soup; with root vegetables and corn. Another great soup is their Birria Soup. It comes with soooo much meat! (But only meat; no veg). A friend ordered their Chicken Soup but was disappointed; describing it as bland and boring. Obviously, not recommended! lol I've also tried some of their entrees, and they were all very good. They have a huge menu, and everything sounds delicious. So the hard part is picking what to order. The restaurant has expanded over the years; taking over the space of the establishment next door. It looks small when you first walk in, but know that there is a doorway towards the back that connects both dining rooms. So this place is huge; great for big groups. Service & hospitality is great but be warned, not everyone speaks English. So have patience! If one server doesn't understand you, there is always someone else there to help. Service is always friendly and efficient. P.S. they have a fantastic Horchata!
This was one of the stops in my mini food crawl of Jackson Heights and I absolutely loved it. I got the lengua taco and an al pastor. The portions were quite large and the meats were so tender. They held so much flavor and it felt like it all disappeared way too quickly. Next time I return, I plan to try their other menu items as well but this was genuinely so delicious.
I've been trying to find good tacos in NYC, and my search led me to Taqueria Coatzingo. Came on a Tuesday at 11am. There were a few tables seated inside, but otherwise a little empty. Upon seating, I was served chips and salsa. Had to be the best part of the meal. The salsa is so fresh and flavorful, and the chips are thin and perfectly crunchy. I could get full off that alone. Ordered two tacos. The lengua was super tender, but it could have been seasoned a little better. The al pastor seasoning was so well, but it was just the tiniest bit dry. I wanted some pineapple pieces to accompany it, but there were none offered. Limes and radishes were given on the side. Flour tortillas held up the tacos nicely, and there were made pretty thin, so I appreciated that the tacos were served with two tortillas. The tacos are huge. Two was more than enough for me including the chips and salsa. One of the better tacos I've had in NYC but still has a little to be desired.
The tacos were absolutely amazing!!! My goodness, we have been eating average tacos our entire lives. I ordered two tacos (carne asada and carnitas), and they were honestly the best tacos I've eaten in my life. The tortilla was soft and warm, the meat was perfectly cooked, and the tacos were heaping with ingredients. Each taco is $4.25, and they're HUGE. If you dine in, you get chips and salsa for free. The food is amazing here, and I'd love to try more of their dishes another time. The service is fast, and there are plenty of tables. The restaurant has a casual, bustling vibe.
Taqueria Coatzingo has some of the best tacos in NY - big fan of their Al Pastor and Lengua tacos in particular. All their tacos come with guac and are piled high with meat In general - the portions are generous, the food is great, and the people are friendly. Make sure to ask for the red and green sauces in the squeeze bottles! Also - they have Happy Hour until 7:30pm! $6 drinks
1st time customer I had to order the chorizo taco and mole tamale. I ate the chorizo taco while hot. Then, I nibbled on the tamale which got cold and dry and left it uneaten. Perhaps I should've eaten the tamale first. The Passion fruit margarita with casamigos was delicious. A bit too sweet which I'll specify less sweet next time. 4th star cuz its near the subway station. Also, there was a security guard since 9 pm. read more
Cuisine: 8 Service: 7 Decor: 7 Value: 9 Overall: 8 Been coming here forever, so not sure why I have never reviewed one of my favorite spots for a nice snack or a filling meal. Came again a few weeks ago, so need to give them the props they deserve. No doubt I come here for their tacos more than anything else. My favorites include the Lengua (beef tongue), Oreja (pig ear), and Camaron (shrimp). The Al Pastor and Carnitas are great too. All their tacos are always filled to the brim, which is appreciated. I do like their freshly made Guacamole and the Seafood Soup too. However, not a big fan of their cemitas or fluetas. Regardless, most of the food is quite excellent. Open early and close late, this has been a staple in my Mexican diet over the years in the Jackson Heights area. The decor is festive and the service is always friendly. I will continue to visit this Mexican restaurants for my taco fix. read more

Great place, service and prices. The inside is colorful, spacious and very decorated to the occasion. Friends ordered a few different dishes they enjoyed, flautas, chilaquiles, menudo de pancita, café de olla and conchas. I ordered the carne asada plate with nopales (cactus). It was a very hearty dish, a big piece of flavorful steak, the only downside? The meat was over cooked and the cactus were not cut up. Still everything had great flavor. Servers were great, attentive, suggested items on the menu and friendly. Seems their bread is made fresh, daily. We all left satisfied and happy we made the trip to this restaurant. read more

Decent mexican food but below average for Jackson Heights. You'd think you would be wow'd by every mexican restaurant in this neighborhood but this place was definitely a bit disappointing... even though it was all filled with locals. The skirt steak plate was very meh. The guacamole was watery, there was a large splatter of beans that had no taste, and the skirt steak had a dull taste. The shrimp nacho platter was also below average. Despite all the toppings, everything was just very bland and tasteless. The only good thing is the crispy bread they provide alongside the platter. I've never had anything like it in mexican cuisine before so it was a pleasant surprise. The ambiance of the restaurant is old and run down but also very homely and gives off an authentic feel. The service was pretty good overall as we got our food quickly. read more
Really good taco spot in Jackson Heights! The tacos were massive. Service was great! They even give you chips and salsa when you first sit down. The inside has a huge space and you can either order togo or dine in. I highly recommend this spot for tacos! read more

I'm pretty impressed by the tacos here! As a San Diego native, we're a bunch of taco snobs so we look for good tortillas, tender and flavorful meat as well as tasty salsa. I was especially impressed by their lengua, it wasn't gamey at all. Also, it's a huge restaurant with lots of bathrooms. Service was very friendly but a little slow. But not bad at all, since the 5 of us were seated right away on a sunday afternoon. read more

Highly recommend worth the trip Festive vibes, fast service, and delicious foods. We went with friends who love to travel and this spot brought us back to Mexico! The sandwiches are huge! (Keep toothpick in) Tacos are fresh. All dishes were flavorful, nothing was overly salty or greasy. Dining room connects to California Bar next door. The menu is big, so we can't wait to come back and try more dishes. The waiters were attentive and accommodating with gluten free and dairy free options. We ordered the quesabirria without the "quesa" and it was perfect on the first try. Muchas Gracias Taqueria Coatzingo! read more
I don't think I fully understood how amazing Mexican food can be until I went to Jackson Heights. I had the Lengua (tongue), Carne (beef), and Al Pastor tacos, all of which were insanely fresh and flavorful. I would legitimately consider commuting to Queens after work just to eat any food from here. The restaurant itself is large and expansive, with festive decorations, live music, and several large screen televisions playing soccer. My waitress was very kind and prompt during my dining. read more

It seems like there are only a few tables when you first walked in but if you walk in a bit more and make a turn, there are more seating available. When you first sit down, they offer chips and salsa. The portions were a lot bigger than I expected. I ordered 3 tacos and was full after two since the tacos were packed with meat. Highly recommend the al pastor and birria. The horchata was really good too! read more
A warm, cozy taqueria serving very reasonably priced and authentic Mexican food in Jackson Heights. The service is friendly, and the food is satisfying - they make their tacos from scratch in-house. I ordered the Al Pastor Tacos for takeout and was satisfied at the end of the meal. I enjoyed the flavor and consistency of the meat inside the taco, but honestly, if you're in the area anyways then I personally like the birria tacos from Birrialandia a little more. Should that truck be closed, however, and you need Mexican food in a pinch then this should satisfy that craving. All in all, I have heard good things about Taqueria Coatzingo from friends and will make sure to stop by again next time I'm in the neighborhood to give it another try! read more
Wow, the tacos are out of this world! Super delicious. I bring my friends and fam here all the time! I even attached some photos of my meals so you can get an idea of portion size. There's no way you would leave hungry. The service is pretty good. See the size of the mole enchiladas, my maragarita, and my burrito in the photos below. The servers speak Spanish and English, and they are friendly. There are sport games on the televisions and also an open bar on the far left. There are so many options of food to get here. I like their carnitas (fried pork), carne asada (grilled beef), and the al pastor tacos (marinated grilled pork) and the camaron (shrimp with cheese) tacos. Each taco arrives with fresh cilantro, raw onion, radish slice, and lime wedges. The tacos are big, so my suggestion is to start with one or two...or bring a huge group of people to split. It is worth it! I promise you won't be disappointed. read more

June from Delish did a recent video on this neighbourhood and I followed her directions. One of my favourite Mexican restaurants. Clean, bright, AC, menu with English and prices (rare in this area). I had pig ear, vegertarian and carne asada tacos. All delicious. Coffee was out sourced, but that was also excellent. I miss this taco joint already :( read more

I don't usually do reviews but this business is not honest. The food is ok / good depending on the plate. But my issue is with them charging you a tip and not advertising it up front. They also tax you on food and tip. Imagine how many people they do this too and get away. Not an honest business practice. After I brought it to their attention they decided to change it but didn't seem to happy. I don't mind paying tip especially if you tell me upfront it's 15% or 18% or 20% but tell your customer. Anything else is a dishonest business. read more

Always a fan of a good taco. Found this off the $50 Delish video & it did not disappoint. Free chips and salsa for each table made for a delicious (if not decently filling) appetizer. I only ordered one taco bc we were doing a food crawl (got the carne asada), but I would most certainly return for more. The taco was $4, which is borderline Manhattan prices, but the taco itself was on the hefty side. Mine was chop full of beef chunks, guac, and veg -- they also give you a plate of roasted peppers, pickled onions, radishes, and limes to further adorn your plate. We all split one of their massive frozen margaritas ($18) -- pretty yummy and would drink it as one person tbh. Would happily come back. read more

I'm always on the hunt for good tacos is the city and these are definitely up there. For $4 a piece (including guac!), you can't really beat the price than others I've seen in Manhattan. Quesillo is an extra dollar. House made jugos/horchata is also always a win in my book. read more
Fire tacos, complimentary chips, kind and patient staff (even during hectic periods) - we love. Tacos are HUGE and filling. At $3.5-5 a taco, it seems like a steep price, but the size and amount of fillings inside more than justify it. I tried the cecina (salted beef), birria de res (beef stew), and camaron (shrimp) tacos -- all DELICIOUS. My faves were the cecina and birria de res. The meat is so juicy and flavorful and the amount of fillings inside the tortilla (which is soft) is ABUNDANT so much so that I had difficulty taking a bite lol Camaron taco came in a fried tortilla and was good too, but wish the shrimp was more seasoned. Tacos come with a side of pickled onions (which are so good I ate them by itself LOL), radish, and lime. Complimentary sauces include a green and red sauce and Valentina (not too spicy) We were seated in front of this one framed photo of this dude that was intensely gazing at us which made me chuckle We went on a super busy day and while it took a while to get service, our food came relatively quickly. As for the ambiance, it's pretty casual and there is a bar in the front and a ton of seating on the back and left side through this door Recommend :) read more

I hope you guys are not closed. Gate was down and number went to vmail. My fave spot to order at 1-2am that actually delivers. Open?
Closed for construction
Can we place orders online? I don't see a website. Where can we order for delivery?
The best way is to call them directly. And if i am not mistaken they have Door Dash which I dont recommend, too many hidden fees
