Maduros at the bottom not from juquila; everything else on top is the carnitas platter!
    Karen S.

Ordered their platter to go upon recommendation from a friend and Juquila did not disappoint! Carnitas platter will easily feed 2 (if your're not large eatters). Don't know how they do it, but the pig ears are the best and marinated perfectly! Will definitely be back to try some of the other things on their menu!

A group of 8 of us descended on Juquila, ready to feast on food as colorful as the decor. Smokey meat lovers will adore the Carnitas. Green-goers will enjoy the Verdes Chilaquiles. And the Walking Dead among us--AKA those nursing a hangover from last night's fiesta--will no doubt need a big, piping hot bowl of Pozole, which you can drink scorpion bowl-style if you so choose (we did). The guac and Jamaica agua fresca were both solid, but I'd skip the Mole Poblano con Pollo, which was just eh.

Deliciosa is the words to describe our meals and drinks. A short walk from the 7 train to the 82nd St. stop and you arrived at this Mexican gem. First I want to thank Rubin our waiter, he gave 100% from beginning to end. Rubin was very friendly, efficient and made excellent recommendations when we were a bit unsure of certain items to choose between. The drinks were some of the best we have ever had. A margarita and by far the best pina colada I have ever tasted. Shared guacamole and yes we like a bit of spice....it was freshly ripened avocados with the perfect blend of cilantro, onions and tomatoes. The tortilla chips were bought to us and freshly made (not from a bag) and a hint of salt. Moved on to two tacos one shrimp and one goat. The goat meat was beyond tender both were served on a mini tortilla. Out of the array of soups to choose from Rubin suggested the beef soup which comes in a large or small portion. The perfect bowl of heaven, albeit the smaller bowl It was extremely filling. The soup consisted of tiny cut pieces of corn on the cob, potatoes, spices and beef so tender that after one bite on a cold nite it warmed your entire insides. Soup served with a side plate of finely chopped parsley and onions.....use as much or as little to your taste. Entree was fried pork chops (2) I was asked if I wanted it alone or with cooked onions (trust me get the cooked onions they were tender and finely sliced), with a side of beans and rice and a mini chopped tomato, onion and green pepper salad. We thought it was over (the meal) and Rubin lured us in with those magic words....."are you interested in dessert"?........choices were fresh flan, dulce de leche and churros (I have lived in New York my entire life and never had a churro but always wanted them)......well todays the day!!!! We split the churros which comes with a small cup of dark chocolate. I don't eat chocolate but the churros were bought to us freshly fried and warm with a hint of sugar. The only thing that was missing was a pull out bed next to the table so I could fall fast asleep after my meal lol. Now that I know where Juquila is I will make the trip and try more items on the menu.

I really liked this place a lot, a friend picked this place out as part of a taco crawl we were having in Jackson Heights and I thought this place was great. I really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was great. The food: Barbacoa Taco- These were some bombass barbacoa tacos. It had a very pronounced lamb flavor, more than other Mexicans I have tried it in, if you don't mind the gamey flavor you will love these. The lamb was nice and tender with some nice fatty pieces. Must get. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?select=MOKKX5sJFUxwv0NNm9f0PQ&userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA Lengua Taco- Really delicious. The tongue was properly cooked and was seasoned well. The lengua was a close second. Chorizo Taco- Flavor on this was great and I appreciated how they left it in small chunks. I don't like when they chop it too fine but this had a good mouth feel. Carne Asado Taco- The only taco I had that I would skip, it was super safe and not that exciting. Pork Pazole- This is the dish that surprised me the most. I thought this was excellent, it had such a wonderful soul food feel, kinda like chicken soup on a cold winter day. The pieces of pork were cooked perfectly, they had so such wonderful texture and flavor.

We came on a Saturday night around 6:45pm and it was packeddd. We opted to sit by ourselves in their outdoor seating (mistake but that was our bad...it was freezing outside and while they do have a heater you won't feel it at all). Also, the outdoor dining door doesnt fully close so theres a huge draft that comes in. That being said, onto the food. Tacos: Lengua: 3/5 Carne asada: best of the 3 Shrimp: 3/5 All 3 came with onions, cilantro, and guac on the side. There was also lime to squeeze on it. They gave green sauce and hot sauces too. All the tacos were $4+ which is kind of pricey. Mole poblano con pollo It's kind of sweet, came with arroz and beans. Because it was so cold inside, the food kind of got cold by the time we finished the tacos. We ended up taking it to go. Not in photos: mexican hot chocolate ($4.50 for a large) and michelada: $9 it was good! All in all, I wouldn't say go out of your way to eat here but if youre in the area and want tacos, and they have room inside by all means check it out. Just dont have high expectations to be wowed. I left feeling meh. Not bad. Not good.

They give complimentary nachos & beans which were good. I got seafood stew which was amazing ($22). It wasn't spicy at all, perfectly mild for me. It had celery in it but I couldn't really taste it & it didn't have that nasty celery smell. It comes with shrimp, squid, clam, mussel, crab. They also give you a bun to dip it in. My friend got mole which was good.

A solid spot for Mexican food, evident from the crowd and how packed this place was. Ordered a variety of tacos while here and they were all delicious, and seasoned well. Packed with seasoning and sauces, they were incredibly well done. Would definitely come back to try the rest of the menu here

We ordered 3 appetizers and the person over the phone took down the incorrect address. Left my number so they can review their system after clearly giving my address in the J.Heights district. Also ordered food last week which led us to choose Juquila over It's competitors Coatzingo, Molcajete, El Poblano etc. Somehow the poor delivery guy was sent to long island city. It would be common sense why would you send a courier for over 40 blocks for a delivery. 34th avenue is well known in the area . 55 minutes later I give the manager the correct address only to be passed to the server who wrote the order for me to reiterate the same address and phone number. I want to support a small business and you would think they would accept their error and offer at least a 50% discount or a comped meal considering the lateness but what we received was cold food. Not sure how customer service oriented the Manager is willing to accept errors like these. Pretty disappointed with the delivery and honestly will rethink ordering a delivery from here again. I do recommend to eat in person if in the area but even that last time we went there the waitress didn't know how to make the cocktails but the food is good. Hopefully they learn on customer service and how to rectify this situation in the future. A cold taco and queso fundido with chips and guacamole is not turning my night around. Tipped the guy well for his efforts in the cold weather. Paying full price is throwing your money away considering the other authentic restaurants in Jackson Heights. I'm glad I didn't have friends over while we watched lucha libre, saved myself the bad experience.

This is one of the best places for Mexican food. I love getting the agua fresas, tortas, the breakfast, etc. Note that they stop serving breakfast at 12pm. They have various dishes to choose from, you'll never get bored. They used to give free chips before but I believe they stopped due to COVID. They do temperature check and have a contact log for you to fill out.

The food here is amazing. The service is good even when the restaurant is quite busy. Their tacos are just out of this world, my favorite is the Al Pastor. There are so many appetizing dishes this gem offers. The vibe is so colorful and cheerful, I love how this restaurant is great for families and groups. Highly recommend!

Really good guacamole and chips. Pricey, but what in life is not? Juquila is slightly more expensive than other places in the area but I really like their guac when I feel like splurging. Their calamari is good too, with a decent amount and the most delicious chipotle sauce to dip in. Wish they just offered this sauce with everything! Their tacos are pretty good, along with their chicken quesadillas that come along with a side of rice and beans. The cemitas and tortas can be a hit or miss depending on the meat- it can come out a bit dry. I like their sauces on the side, and everything is pretty tasty!

The menu is entirely in Spanish but the waiters can help if needed. We ordered the Gobernador taco, a half dozen shrimp, the regular guacamole and the aguachiles verdes. The Gobernador was a large size - really more like a mini quesadilla than a taco in my mind. It was flavorful and filled with seafood. The half dozen shrimp were cooked well, but a little hard and messy to peel. The guac was good, a little oily but tasty. The aguachiles were really good but borderline too spicy for me. The spice continued to build as I ate them and it did feel less enjoyable but it was good to start. My main grievance with this restaurant was how loud it was. I was yelling and struggling to hear what my friend or the waiter said, but the food was delicious. Maybe if it were less crowded it would be ok, but definitely not a great atmosphere for having a conversation.

They offer a different special for any day of the week, first time around on a Thursday Margaritas special , Tamarind & Mango nice big glass great margaritas, good tasty & nice & strong They start u off with some cake pieces, has a banana bread taste very good. Apps , we tried the Tostones con Birria very good great tasting meat & Chorizo Mac & cheese , also very good. Main dishes , Al pastor tacos & Chicken Burrito were both very good. Next time we stopped by for brunch, we got the bottomless option tried the Sangrita white, good sangrita price wise makes sense assuming u drinking more than 3-4 glasses a person. On the food Carnitas Benedict & short rib hash were both very tasty. For dessert gave the Tres Leches a try not bad, just the right amount of sweet. Another brunch visit & we tried Paloma spritz, good & Mexican coffee, pretty strong in taste. Chicken & waffles topped with bacon, very good chicken good combo dish. & the Lady's enchiladas great taste the enchiladas w the green sauce & cheese on top. Good size restaurant, small bar area towards the back, simple but colorful decor. Service overall has been good, they are attentive. Reasonable prices & u get a decent amount of food. This place has been around for some time, happy we discovered it recently overall good vibe, food & drinks, we will continues to visit from time to time.

Ironically, earlier while trying to decide where to go for dinner, I had sent this restaurant to my friend but we ended up going somewhere else and came here for drinks afterward. The drinks were really good! We tried the "Sexy Oaxaca," which consists of 7 Misterios Doba-Yej Mezcal, Cointreau, grilled pineapple, mint agave, fresh lemon, and warm salt. This drink takes your taste buds on a ride. It starts off light and refreshing with the mezcal throughout, then finishes with a smoky effect from the pineapple since it's lit. It was really good!! I also tried the "VIP Old Fashion," made with Patrón Extra Añejo, Nixta corn liqueur, Angostura, and orange bitters. This was also good and was smoked prior to being served, giving it a smoky aftertaste. It's definitely a drink you sip slowly. Although we arrived about an hour and a half before closing, the waiter was very polite and professional. They also didn't rush us out once it was closing time, which I appreciated. There were other customers still there enjoying themselves as well. I will definitely be back for dinner. I'm very curious to see what the food is like. I really enjoyed the drinks.
