I gave it 4 stars because their regular sangrias weren't good but their frozen sangrias were the BEST!!! Both red and white were so good, try them! The meals were delish, we had: Tampiqueña - medium and the Tinga de Puebla and boy did we enjoy our meals, the black beans in both plates are delicious! I've been here a couple of times, but never had a chance to write a review. I didn't dine inside, but did takeout this one time. It's very close to where I live. So, it wasn't a big hassle to bring my lunch home to eat. I ordered the grilled steak sincronizada. They gave me salsa on the side so it wasn't so bad. It's very similar to a quesadilla, just the tortilla is different, ingredients, and the way it's shaped where it looks.like a sandwich. A super cute restaurant with delicious food! We arrived on a cold weekday morning and were the first ones in the restaurant. The staff were incredibly friendly and let us take our time ordering. We got some guacamole, fish tacos, and al pastor tacos to share. The guacamole was super fresh, as well as the house-made salsa which was addictive. The tacos were great as well (al pastor was my favorite) and the portions were generous. I ordered an appetizer of taquitos and they gave me a free chips and salsa. I think it was salsa -- very finely blended. Service was friendly and quick. The place has two sections of seating. I was sitting by the front door but the heavy curtains kept the Artic blasts of cold from making the place uncomfortable. We recently visited De Mole for brunch. Our order included a few drinks and: - Enchiladas De Mole Con Huevo: $14; $15.24 with tax. It's hard to say this dish was worth $15, even in this era of price inflation. The mole sauce seemed simplistic, and seemed to have mostly have sweet notes. - Taco Pollo: $12; $13.07 with tax. The chicken in these tacos were a bit dry. - Avocado Toast: $13; $14.15 with tax. The eggs were perfectly runny, the heat from the peppers made the dish. The brunch menu and main menu had to be accessed on smartphone via QR codes. I would have preferred paper for all of the menus; it is just easier to browse menus on paper than on a small phone screen. However, online menus do make it much easier for the restaurant to rotate and refresh its offerings. Other: There is a well-maintained unisex restroom. There is a 3% discount for cash payment. We started by going to their place in Sunnyside and we were so happy when they opened a place in Astoria. I love every single item on their menu. This use to be a really good Mexican restaurant. They have gone downhill! I ordered a chicken burrito for delivery & they put tomatoes in it..they have never done that before! The use to put on the side not in the burrito! There was barely any chicken it was all rice & no cheese at all either! They also didn't give me the hot sauces that they usually have on the side! This is your sign to never order from here. The prices and portions are insane. I ordered a burrito, enchiladas and 4 tacos and it came out to $78 they even forgot my coke. The fact that their food is basic and they charge like it's a restaurant in Manhattan is laughable. The enchiladas come with barely a cup of rice and beans and i paid $21 for that?? I had the pleasure to eat at de mole once before the pandemic occurred. It was a pleasure to have a nice quiet place to catch up with a friend. During the pandemic, I was grateful to find out that de mole had an option through Yelp to order take out/delivery. We picked delivery since we had to go pick up other items. Keep an eye on the app since we have discovered you are on your own for when the food notification is ready. Not complaining; more for your awareness since it's easy to get distracted doing other things. The first time we ordered: Chicken de mole - it was great... Hands down. Chicken burrito - I liked it... My friend not so much after the de mole. Second time we ordered: Steak de mole -- my friend liked the chicken better since he didn't realized the steak was so small. Chicken burrito - still as good to me. Steak Nachos - pretty good. One recommendation if the place reads this. Could you put the nachos on the side away from the liquid? Some of the nachos were soggy when you pick up the nachos. It would have been fine in the restaurant though for takeout/home delivery there needs to be some adjustments. One of the best Mexican food in the NYC area! We were returning from JFK and were super hungry. So glad we landed up here. The restaurant has a cute patio outdoor seating, it was empty and we felt they were almost closed. The server was nice enough to seat us. They have a great menu for meat eaters as well as vegetarians! Omg the tamales are to die for! So authentic. Definitely will go back to try more of the tamales. We ordered veggie enchiladas and veggie Fajitas! Enchiladas were delicious in green sauce, but the Fajita's were mind blowing, the veggies had such great flavors! I love a corner restaurant and this place has been here for years. Depending on the time you visit, they have two small dining areas. If it's not busy, they'll only have one open. I am obsessed with the De Mole salad with breaded chicken. It's so healthy, delicious and I crave it pretty often. I've also had the steak and spinach quesadillas. **Delivery Review** Saturday morning, placed an order for breakfast through Yelp. Pretty much the full menu available in the morning, which is better than the usual brunch options. Between two people, ordered the Huevos Rancheros ($11), Enchiladas de Pollo con Mole Poblano ($18), and de Mole Nachos ($10). Foods arrived within the delivery window, mostly lukewarm. Enchiladas are two wrapped tortillas filled with chicken, cheese, veggies, and mole sauce. Chicken was under-seasoned but the accompanying mole helped as it drenched the entire dish. There was a side of rice and beans as well which were also plain. Nachos were much better, though not layered because it would have been too soggy by the time it arrived (good call). Chips are hearty and the Guacamole/salsa/sour cream are all spot on (wish there was melted cheese). Huevos Rancheros are pretty straight forward, could have used more jalapenos but it's nitpicking. Fine enough food that probably it's better in person. Will try again at some point. read more

This is a great Mexican place. I loved the tamales with mole and chicken. I've never tried that flavor before, it has very smooth taste, not overpowering. I recommend it as an appetizer if you never had mole before. I got the tinga which was very filling for lunch. Plus, they give you 2 tortillas to help you scoop up the mole. Unfortunately, this Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde burrito made with chicken, pintos and rice, looked beautiful--but had the mouth feel of a dry sponge. With a beautiful garnish of pico de gallo, this large meal in a tortilla (it's not a wrap!)--looked hearty and yummy--but it fell short (once again) because there is no sauce. No salsa--no salsa verde, or red salsa, leaving it just dry. This is comparable to a PB&J, without the J; or Thanksgiving turkey meal, but with no gravy; or a hamburger with no ketchup! In all seriousness, I am not sure why this place, and others in the area, do not supply / provide some appropriate salsa for meals like this. What they DID put in the bag, is a tiny cup with some heavily watered-down guacamole-flavored seafoam green colored sauce, and a tiny cup with some Earth-scorching red hot sauce--these are not salsa. I ordered this six months back, and It was the same. I had ordered it today thinking it would be better, but no. Now, they lost a customer. This place is amazing.. I've read the reviews and am quiet taken back... people say the guacamole is old but I haven't had that problem... I always get the same thing one Large chicken quesadilla extra crispy with sour cream and guac on the side and I've always been very satisfied... if your ever in the mood def give it a try.. just some reference I think it's better than the Cemitas next door and better than the burritos at the loco place nearby id even say better than the chicken nachos I get from Santa Fe across town.. 10/10 everyTIME!! read more

Buried in the southern end of Sunnyside and Woodside, De Mole offers the Mexican bistro experience with plenty of contemporary culinary flare. It may not look like it in this quiet stretch of the neighborhood, but it may just be the most popular Mexican option in the area. And its popularity from reviews alone would suggest this is more gringo safe than it is a Mexican hangout and each visit here has proved that notion right. Most of the wait staff speaks better English than the rest of the hood and patrons are usually gringo more often than not. The space is small, perfect for dates and medium groups. There is a TV that plays occasionally in the background during the day time, and a wait during dinner service or Cinco De Mayo. Prices are not out of control but are by no means dirt cheap either. Nearby Mexican restaurants and taco carts charge their food for the same if not a little more than what De Mole has to offer. De Mole just happens to serve their offerings on nice plates rather than out of a styrofoam box. For the most part, I've been happy with the food. Portions are controlled, presentation is solid, and for the most part, tasty. The mole enchiladas de pollo ($10) are full of juicy flavor, the burritos ($7) are nice and plump, and tamales ($1.50) are good when they have them. The tacos are well made but seem expensive ($3+). The taquitos ($4.75) are usually too crispy with little filling, and the guacamole with chips ($5.50) is barely enough for two people. Brunch is my favorite time to come here, the menu is limited but the options are outstanding. Huevos a la Mexicana ($5) and Huevos con Chorizo ($6) are both excellent. They come with a flavorful beans and rice, as some steamed corn tortillas, perfect for dipping and stuffing. Huevos Rancheros ($5.75) are also solid, but don't pack the same punch as the aforementioned two. No business is perfect and that includes De Mole. Service is abysmally slow at times and their delivery works at mammoth speeds. As the food is being prepared, the staff is often seen chatting behind the counter, leaving many patrons waiting for everything from water to the bill. But in spite of the service issues, this place is still worth a visit. Dining in beats delivery any day, and it seems my daytime experiences have trumped my dinner outings here ten fold. Where Sunnyside ends and Woodside begins is a tough sell for anyone coming from the city or beyond, but as a neighborhood option, De Mole still stands out. read more

At first I thought I was reviewing that lame reality show that was hosted by Anderson Cooper before he became a cable news celebrity, and I was thinking "ugh, one star!" but then I realized that was "The Mole", not "De Mole". I'm totally giving De Mole four stars, mainly because it has nothing to do with Anderson Cooper! Came here with friends and had a nice time. The food was great...from the chicken taquitos to the skirt steak, everything was vibrant and full of flavor, not to mention well prepared. Sometimes you'll get a dry steak or some overdone rice, but that was not a problem here. My friend's chicken also looked good and she said it was delicious but she was clearly too selfish to offer me half of it. They have a limited drinks menu (wine and beer) so if you're looking for a margarita, you're out of luck. Service was friendly and very leisurely, but that was okay because I was enjoying catching up with my friends. This may be off the beaten path but that's a plus because you definitely won't run into Anderson Cooper here. read more

De Mole serves some delicious Mexican food. Quiet and intimate setting and the interior decor was simple and so was the food. The food, though, simple, was delicious and well seasoned. Portion sizes were pretty good for the price. My friend and I had a very enjoyable dinner here on Saturday. I had the Tampiqueña, which was the skirt steak and she had the Carne Asada Encebollada, which was the grilled steak, rice n beans w/ corn tortillas. For drinks, I tried the Jarritos Mandarin. While waiting for the food, we were given a small bowl of chips and salsa. Nothing special. We both agreed the salsa was rather bland. My steak was cooked medium rare, and it was cooked perfectly. Steak was moist, flavorful and seasoned very well. Rice wasn't too mushy and I actually finished all the beans..lol My plate was wiped clean after about 20mins. I tried one of my friend's steak tortillas and it was very tasty, along with the rice n beans. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We didn't stay for dessert..as neither of us was in the mood for flan..lol This first experience at De Mole would have been 5 stars, except for one mistake made by the waiter who took our order. Initially, I had ordered a Guacamole appetizer, and I saw the waiter write it down in his little pad. But our entree platters had already come out and my guacamole was nowhere to be found. One of my friends told me De Mole was rated one of the top mexican restaurants in the city recently. It is great. They use fresh ingredients, the salsa looks like it was made 5 minutes ago. They have interesting vegetarian option you typically dont find like Seitan (wheat meat), Spinach Burritos and Nopales (grilled cactus). Its a good spot with good service, wait staff is always inquisitive about your needs and ready to answer any questions about the menu,. Theres a line around the corner on the weekends but I would try and go during the weekday to avoid the crowd. Ive been going here since it opened its always been clean and fresh tasting. My only drawback is the location. It must be the only restaurant on the street and there some bodegas around that about it. They did a good job with what they had with the interior decor but if they secured a location on Queens blvd they would probably have too much business, Beer and wine only. Theyre sangria is tasty and so are their desserts. Highly recommended read more

Yum Yum Yum! I love this place. A Sunnyside/Woodside standby, always good, always fresh, always cheap, always delicous! I've gotten delivery a few times but perfer eating inside the tiny restraunt, if you can get a seat. On the weekends this place is really bumping and you might find yourself waiting up to 40 minutes, but if it's nice outside it's worth it, or you can walk home all call for delivery on the way. I will say the one downside is that you can't make a reservation and there isn't a list to put your name on, you just have to wait outside. The chips and salsa, guac - to die for! My favorite dish recently is the "beef stew" - I only put it in quotes because there are a couple menus floating around that place (they just got new ones) and it's called different things. Imagine spicy seasoned juicy beef brisket cooked perfectly next to back beans, rice, with cheese and sliced avocados on top - yes please!! Great place for a date, intimate, great service - and they just got a liquor licensee but they are so cool that you can still bring your own if you wish. If you live in the neighborhood you've GOT to check it out. If you don't live in the neighborhood and want some daaaaamn good food hop on the 7 train, get out at 46th and get ready to get your mind blown. read more

We received a flyer weeks ago and wanted to try it. Had to order through their website, which I liked since it means more money going to small businesses. But... It was expensive for what you got. The flavors need some serious work. The pastor tacos were fatty and unremarkable and the fancy quesadilla (that looks like a taco) was a little bit better of an option. Guacamole was $12 and lacked garlic and salt. The pollo with mole was tender and delicious but for $19 with a half cup of rice and beans? The worst part was the tres leches. I started with my scallop ceviche without tomatoes and then decided not to order a main course because the ceviche had two pieces of tomato in it PLUS the avocado was brown and there was very little lime. Disappointed I got some of their amazing pinto beans (as that tends to be reliable). I normally order a couple of tacos (Barbacoa, carne asada and nopales/cactus) and quadadillas tradicionales (squash blossom is a must try!). I also recommend their Tinga de Puebla (beef brisket stew) or Pollo con Mole Poblano (chicken leg with red rice, beans and mole sauce).
