    Loaded Nachos !!!
    Greg D.

Was in the mood for some nachos and some real deal authentic tacos..... Just a heads up that this taco joint is really a take out joint ... they have some seating for about 16 people or so ... they do have table service .......... We were three people so we ordered 9 tacos total; 3 grilled steak, 3 salted beef & 3 grilled chicken .... All were very delicious super fresh & tasty; must add their green sauce to everything & a Lil of their hot sauce ... ask for sour cream & they give you the bottle ... nice !!! Super fresh guacamole with nachos !!! Also had their loaded nachos also delicious .... Very clean & neat form the front to the back of the house ... prep area & kitchen wide open .... Definitely our new taco joint !!! Thanks, Greg D & Family

I'm not usually a fan of Mexican food so I came in with low expectations. A very small private little place, they took my order rather quickly and prepared it quickly as well. I ordered a steak taco and a shrimp taco as well as pastor Torta. The steak taco left much to be desired. I was a bit disappointed with the portions and the steak was quite bland and unseasoned, but with the lime and red/green sauces it came with, it helped merry the flavors more. The vegetables were chopped unevenly so presentation wise couldve done better in that regard, but as I took a bite, although the steak was tender it left me wanting more spice and salt overall. The shrimp was slightly better, had a nice touch of seasoning on it that was accentuated by the acidity of the lime. The radishes on the tacos also left a nice fresh crunch that helped each bite go down smoothly. My favorite part was the pastor torta, I threw it in my air fryer to add crunch to the outside of what was typical sub bread, but the meat itself was tender, and a good ratio of meat/cheese/vegetables which was helped by avocado that added creaminess to the sandwhich. It was a decent size as well and there seemed to be some sort of a thousand island dressing I thought was solid as well. Was definitely not lacking in flavor comparably to the tacos. All in all, a decent little spot but a bit pricey. $19 for 2 tacos, a torta, and a snapple, perhaps I will try something else on the menu and have a better experience.

My tacos were ok. Just ok The reviews did not match what I had. The best taco was the salted beef! I wish I would have gotten all three as salted beef.

Ok.. from the outside I was like "oh, god" but inside I was very surprised. I thought it was going to be a deli but it's not. The workers are very very nice, patient and friendly. The atmosphere is very plain with the exception of a few sombreros hanging on the walls. The restaurant is small but clean. Our order consisted of steak tacos, chicken tacos, a shared nacho platter, cheese quesadilla, and the Mexican sodas. The tacos come one of two ways : Mexican (just cilantro) or American (lettuce sour cream). I got the American way because I hate cilantro. The chicken was good but I'd pass next time because I don't like dark meat chicken.. the steak though..... dio mio..... HEAVENLY! The nachos were very good too - cheesy goodness! The quesadilla was very big and filled with lots of flavor. I would deff come here again!

This is a great location, is clean and easy to order. Food looks great and taste delicious. I ordered 4 tacos(2 Al Pastor, Carne Enchilada and 1 Chicken) I recommend the enchilada tacos. I will come back for more.

    Bistec Taco

I was craving tacos on a Friday night and decided to order them for pick up, came across Compadres. Order was ready in 7-10 minutes. When seeing it from the outside it looks like a cute Mexican deli on the corner. Walking in they have their seating for dining in, fresh homemade sweets and drinks in the coolers. I like the atmosphere of the restaurant, everybody was very friendly. I ordered 3 bistec tacos and it comes with lemons, radishes& hot sauces. The tacos come in 2 flour tortillas with meat of your choice, onions, & cilantro. I drenched my tacos in the sauces and it was soooo good! Definitely satisfied my taco craving for the week. Great authentic Mexican food in the neighborhood, check them out, they have a nice variety on their menu! Looking forward to eating here again!

Delicious steak burrito! Fast delivery service, and spicy seafood soup. I called in and did not use Uber eats/ Door dash services. Enjoy!

You can tell real care goes into every taco that comes out of the kitchen. The tostones were fried to absolute perfection: golden and crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and seasoned just right. They were addictive on their own and even better paired with the accompanying sauces. The Spanish corn was a standout side--sweet, smoky, and creamy with just the right amount of seasoning. It added a comforting yet vibrant touch to the meal and complemented everything on the table. To top it all off, the ceviche was incredibly fresh and refreshing. Bright citrus flavors, tender seafood, and a perfect mix of herbs and spices made it light, zesty, and the ideal contrast to the richer dishes. Overall, this was an unforgettable meal filled with flavor, texture, and authenticity. From start to finish, everything was executed beautifully, leaving me already excited for my next visit.

My partner ordered the battered chicken cutlet and guess what?? No seasoning at all! We took it home and made chicken parm. Extremely disappointed. We look forward to going out having a good time with food and drinks and this was horrible. Not our 1st time coming here but always want to give businesses a second chance. They failed. Margaritas you can't go wrong. Kudos to others that find their food exceptional and delicious. Margaritas were good. Can't go wrong there. Music was also good just hard to hear and communicate but that doesn't bother me. My opinion Have a great day

My favorites are the Tiki Colada, which is sweet with a red wine float, and the El Picosito, which is smoky and delicious. The margaritas and mojitos are cheaper and come in a few different flavors - these are also $7 during happy hour. The food is better than you'd expect for a bar. My absolute favorite is the grilled octopus appetizer, which is perfectly cooked every time. They have the classic Mexican staples (tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas, fajitas), and the fish tacos and steak enchiladas are my favorite. The mango salmon and conchinita pibil are also great if you want something a little special. The tortilla soup with chicken is also way underrated, it's hearty, smoky, and perfectly seasoned - I've ordered this to go several times when I was home sick. Prices are pretty standard for Forest Hills, and the happy hour deals are a great value if you want the basics a little cheaper. The space itself is pretty big, and it accommodates large parties or smaller groups. The decor is cute, and there are several TVs always showing different games. As several other reviewers have mentioned, it does get pretty loud in here, especially when they have DJs there on the weekends. It's a matter of preference for sure, so to avoid it I usually go during the week or earlier on the weekends (as in I try to be out by 7pm on Friday-Sunday). This is perfect for me, as the regular playlist is pretty good and I usually catch the happy hour deals. The service is friendly and quick, especially the waitress with the short bob. HOWEVER - sometimes they add an 18% automatic gratuity and sometimes they don't. I've noticed that they typically add it if you're sitting at the bar or during busier times, but I'm not sure if there's a clear rule on this. I get it - they work hard here and the servers don't want to get stiffed by folks who have had a few drinks. It's clearly stated on the receipt, so it's not like they're trying to hide the charges. Either way, make sure that you double check the first receipt that they give you when they bring the check, since the final receipt (the standard one where you sign and tip) isn't itemized. Don Tequila is a reliable neighborhood spot, with great food and drinks. There are ways around most of the things that other reviewers have complained about. I'm happy to have them nearby, and I'll be back soon!
