We were sent to this spot by a long time customer. Our family has an array of pallets and La Comadre met them ALL. A spot that serves traditional Mexican with some American breakfast goods. The littlest ordered pancakes made with love by the mama of the shop. The next wanted a cheesy quesadilla that was made with fresco y mozzarella. The grown ups had a Mexican breakfast- we left with leftovers. Very great serving portions. All the ingredients were fresh and the aroma so close reminded me of home. Sensory/Texture input: queso fresco is different from traditional cheese so if gummy textures aren't your thing, let them know as they cook with it as default. The shop sits above a subway station; makes sure to bring a headset as it goes frequently. The shop itself plays low volume música buena but the vibration and volume of the tracks still enter. They cook directly in the room and are working on an outdoor area to serve more customers if smells are unsafe. The pancakes had the right amount of fluff and crunch. . We had the pleasure of meeting the whole family while we visited. They all stopped and greeted us, making sure to include the littles. Please check them out!

I have visited this restaurant twice. My first experience was so pleasant that it made me want to come back. My food was served fresh, the customer service is good and the food is amazing. It's delicious and I can tell that the cooks put love into the food. I highly recommend grabbing a bite to eat here if you want something that is homemade, affordable, and tasty.

    Cheese quesadilla

Hands down the best quesadillas in NYC, freshly made I had the corn ones I order mushrooms quesadillas and one just cheese, they use authentic Mexican cheese which is a plus. I also ordered tortas with mushroom which is not in the menu (I don't eat meat) She was very accommodating to my order I'll definitely will be back for more!

Rice and beans for breakfast is not common to me, but when in a traditional Mexican restaurant (and bakery) I make every effort to eat what is typical and traditional, typically preferancing my order by asking-you guessed it. "I'd like an order of whatever is typical and traditional". The breakfast special consisted of two eggs prepared anyway you wish, my over easy eggs with chorizo was excelent, I'm still a touch weary of black beans beneath my eggs, it must be the texture change is too much to handle so early in the morning while sporting a semi significant hangover. Ivdid have a minor issue with the way the rice was scooped out of the tin receptacle, as the rice water was too much for the meal to absorb and quickly pooled into a purpleish black liquid at the bottom of my oyster shelled, styrofoam container, resembling a thin squid ink. Needless to say an unenjoyable visual under such delicate bodily circumstances. The breakfast special costs a mere $6.50 including a drink, a great price such a filling meal. But please--strain "thustly" in the future. /Alton Brown/ Lunch specials cost $7.00: Guisado, Arroz, Frijoles, Tortillas. Additionally La Comadre offers Tortas, Cemitas, Tostadas, Burritos, Quesadillas, Tacos and Soaps Y Huaraches.

The parking lot serves all the businesses in this collection of businesses. The entrance is gorgeous with a big Dia de Los Muertos mural as you enter. The person greeting me is very friendly. The entire restaurant is very clean and has ample seating. I was seated while I waited for my friend. I ordered a red wine sangria. It had a good amount of fruit in it, was perfectly chilled, and not too sweet. We each ordered fajitas. I ordered shrimp. I was able to sub flour tortillas for corn. The portion was so big I had enough for another meal. Everything came out together, perfectly hot, with sides of salsa and seasoned sour cream. There were also sides of rice, black beans, and cotija cheese. My friend has a non alcoholic Mojito. I also had a tamarind Jarritos soda. We each ordered a sweet. My friend had churros. They came with three flavors of dipping sauce. I ordered the house made flan. The custard was great! The caramel was burnt. I feel the prices are very reasonable considering this is NYC, and the cost of food now a days. If I am ever in the area again I will definitely return to try more of their extensive amazing menu!

My partner ordered the battered chicken cutlet and guess what?? No seasoning at all! We took it home and made chicken parm. Extremely disappointed. We look forward to going out having a good time with food and drinks and this was horrible. Not our 1st time coming here but always want to give businesses a second chance. They failed. Margaritas you can't go wrong. Kudos to others that find their food exceptional and delicious. Margaritas were good. Can't go wrong there. Music was also good just hard to hear and communicate but that doesn't bother me. My opinion Have a great day

But I went there today with some family and was hoping to find a Mexican restaurant that's comfortable for eating on the property. It's a really small space, I think there were 4 to 6 tables, and somehow I didn't get that from looking at the yelp reviews. For the food alone, the place is at least worth 4 stars. The Guacamole here is better than at many, many places... freshly made, has enough salt, cilantro... I'm a guac snob, and I liked this. The chips are a typical fried tortilla, and they were good. 3 of us had Quesadillas, one with mushrooms, one with beef, and the other with shrimp. We all liked them. One of us got a burrito, which was pretty hefty, and they liked what they got. Same person got a slice of Tres Leches and a slice of cheesecake and loved them. Service was fine. The place is on a corner with plenty of street parking around (on a Saturday afternoon). It's not much to look at but I would return with a smaller group.
