#5. Roasted Pork Combo

I was in Jamaica yesterday and found this place, best Puerto Rican style food I've ever had! Service was great and was very clean. Definitely recommend! Great pricing too!!

LAS PALMAS Italy under a palm tree. As you walk into the Restaurant, Salvatore and his brother Franco greet you into their home. Sitting down I can't help but feel I'm at the family table. I learned that if I asked them what I should eat they will feed you as if you were one of the family. As an Italian, we always measure someones cooking to our mothers. I have to say this is the only place I would take my mother out to eat at. It's nice to know there's a place I can call home in Puerto Plata. LAS PALMAS restaurant.

Stewed Chicken with Yellow Rice & Beans. ($5.00) It's amazing!

$5.00 Spanish Lunch Specials?! - I'M A FAN! Their advertisement outside the restaurant is not a bluff. I ordered take-out, the Roasted Chicken with rice and beans. It was amazing and it was a lot of food! By the time I finished, i was having food coma at my desk! The chicken was so tender and juicy yet so flavorful with their special spices. Rice and beans were cooked to perfection - love the taste when it is still burning hot! Although the restaurant itself does not look attractive but the food was worth every penny! For take-out, just order at the front. The staff behind the counter will serve you. Quick service, they get you in and out in about five minutes.

You cant beat this for $5 lunch special

I used to come here all the time when I worked in Jamaica, Queens and the lunch specials were $4. I was in the nabe and saw the lunch specials were $5 which is still in my budget range. LOL. I ordered the stew chicken, peas and rice. I was disappointed it didnt come with a small side of salad or few plantains but you cant ask for much when you're only paying $5. The food was good and tasty and I definitely had enough to eat for later. They remodeled or change the place around because the seating area looks bigger, I will definitely return when I can.

Steak with peppers and onions with yellow rice and beans!!! Steak is perfect!!!! (I'm still eating it now!!! Lol)

I had the shrimp Mofongo. Forgot to add the sauce that goes on top but it was SO good!…read more My friend ordered on one of the many apps out there. They came quickly. Food was hot and ready even sitting around while I had to finish some work. They included fresh lime slices and these little containers of sauce (I think l hot sauce). The sauce was delicious too. Only slightly spicy but had a nice kick. I feel like when you order shrimp Mofongo some places try to charge an arm and a leg. This was reasonably priced and delicious. Definitely looking forward to ordering lunch here again.

I have been coming to this place since I was a kid, mostly ordering food for delivery to my house…read more The food is generally good; however, lately they have hired a lot of disrespectful people to take orders. They are either dismissive of your requests and send you whatever they feel like, even when you are very specific about what you want, or they take an incredibly long time to deliver your order. At this point, it almost seems intentional. Today, I placed my order at 7:00 p.m. I waited an hour and 17 minutes before calling because I wanted to be considerate, as they often take a long time. I was told my order had left only eight minutes earlier. When another 23 minutes passed (an hour and 40 minutes after I had originally placed my order), I called again. A different employee answered and said she would check on the delivery and call me back. When she called back, she informed me that my order had never been made and asked if I would still like them to prepare and send it. I said yes, but I hoped it would be at no cost given what had happened. She said no. If this had been the first time something like this happened, I would have let it go. Unfortunately, this has become a consistent pattern. I have genuinely tried to be understanding, but it is unfair that I had to wait nearly two hours for food that was never even prepared. I also had to stay up much later than planned while waiting, only to end up ordering from somewhere else. What makes the experience even worse is the complete lack of any effort to make things right for the customer. This is terrible customer service that borders on disrespect toward loyal customers. Although I have been a loyal customer for over two decades, I do not appreciate being treated this way. Good food is not enough to make up for consistently poor service and a lack of respect for your customers.

I searched Yelp for Dominican restaurants and came across El Campeón de Los Pollos--and we were definitely not disappointed! I was especially impressed by how clean the restaurant was. The food was beautifully displayed buffet-style, and everything looked fresh and appetizing. You order and pay at the register, and they serve your food on a tray with your drink. I ordered a lunch with a drink for $16.33, which I thought was very reasonable considering how expensive everything is nowadays. The food was good, the portions were satisfying, and even the bathroom was very clean--which honestly made me happy! I would definitely come back. My only complaint is that it's a little far from me! But if I'm in the area again, I'll definitely stop by.

It's right in front of a bus stop and next to a school. There were so many options. I settled for Combo 2, which includes 1 whole chicken, rice, beans, small salad and soda. The chicken was a bit dry and the pieces were huge. The rice and beans were really tasty, the beans had so much flavor. The salad was simple and small. I tried the Colombia coke and it was a cream soda, very refreshing with the meal. I also ordered a medium oxtail with rice and it was $14. The huge amount was pretty worth it. They didn't skimp on the oxtail. It was more on the saltier side, but still very tasty. I will come again when I'm in the neighborhood and tried their soup. Next time I might even get a small size to try a bunch of other options.
