This spot was the Odyssey Diner years ago, then became Mela's Café, a Dominican restaurant and is now a Noches de Colombia, a local chain of Colombian restaurants. I've been to the one in Port Chester and the look is very similar with bright lights, large TV screens and a bar. They spent a lot in printing the menus which is huge and all color pictures, so you know what you're ordering with big sections for appetizers, salads, chicken, seafood & steak. Their latin cuisine has shared similarities to others like Dominican, Cuban, Brazilian & Peruvian, but with unique Colombian qualities to the meat and seafood dishes. Noches also has their own bakery on the premises making the fresh breads, pastries & cakes in their display case. On a Thursday night, 3 of us came in for dinner and spent some time going through the menu. We started with the Mini Picadita platter as an appetizer and it was not small by any means with mini chicken empanadas, sliced chorizo, chicharron, grilled chicken & steak, potatoes, tostones & cassava. It would have been a whole meal by itself. The grilled chicken & steak slices were very tender and tasty. There are even bigger Picadita appetizer plates if you have an even bigger appetite or more people to share with. For entrees, my son went with the Pechuga Marinera, a big slice of chicken fillet topped with shrimp and a savory cream sauce and it came with maduros and choice of 2 sides and he got rice and more tostones. He was barely able to finish. My wife ordered the Mar y Mar, grilled fish fillet topped with shrimp and creamy wine sauce, but with 1 side for her which was a "small" salad. It was a very fresh and tasty salad. For myself, I had the Filete a la Plancha con Camarones, similar to my wife's fish & shrimp minus the sauce and got a big inverted cup of white rice with mine. The fish fillet was expertly grilled, but the large shrimp (5) looked like they were poached (steamed?) but retained their flavor. We're also given 3 different sauces for dipping: a white sauce, a pink sauce and a spicy sauce. The pink sauce was very good with the shrimp. Because of the size of the dishes, we ended up taking part of the Picadita home with half of my wife's entree. My dish was perfect for me and I polished it off. We definitely will have to come back to try the rest of the menu (and baked goods), which will probably take at least a dozen more visits!

I like to come here for lunch since it is close to my job and they have a great lunch special. For $12.95 you can get pernil, rice, salad, potato, beans, and sweet plantains. It is a great portion of food for the price. The food is also delicious. This place was recently renovated and changed their name from Mela's to Noches De Colombia. The inside of the restaurant looks really nice and vibrant. The waitresses are all really friendly. I definitely recommend to come and try the food.

I was impressed by the large variety of options on this menu. I ordered an empanada to start followed by a mini bandeja. There was nothing mini about it! As you can see by the pic, portion size are not skimpy. Overall, the dish was good, only thing I would change was the steak. Had a little too much fat for my liking. But the chicharron and frijoles were great. The jugo de guanabana was delicious. Empanada was good too, though I would've liked a bit more of a flavor kick. They have a few tables and bar area for indoor dining and a covered section outside. Restaurant was busy, with customers dining in or picking up orders. Seems like a staple for the local community which is great to see. Service was friendly and moderately paced. Will return if in the area!

That makes no sense, especially considering how quickly I called back. Even more concerning, when I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor, I was told there wasn't one available. That's unacceptable for any business. Instead of helping resolve a simple issue, they made it unnecessarily complicated. Customer service here needs serious improvement.

** Delivery order **…read more Ordered around 9:30pm, arrived in about 45 mins. Food was still warm. I ordered - Skirt steak w/white rice, red beans, sweet plantain - steak extremely thin & bit chewy. Beans and plantain alright. Tiramisu cake - decent sized slice that tasted pretty generic. Overall an okay place to eat. Price to portion ratio is disappointing, especially the steak. More of a last resort type of situation.

Placed an order of 83$...TWO BANDEJA PAISAS, colombiana soda, smoothie with milk and side orders. Food comes and first mistake is that we got the smoothie with water..... fine that's not so bad but then we open our food order. It's not steak...it's PORK. I called the restaurant to see if they had sent me the wrong order and they said "we didn't have steak so we sent you pork chops" They also said "we didn't have milk so we made the smoothie with water" Making the smoothie with water is understandable... but to send me a completely different meat is something I've never heard of and to do this without even consulting with the consumer is NOT okay. We didn't even get a call to ask if this was ok, because if this was the case I would've cancelled the order and ordered elsewhere. On top of this everything that came with the bandeja paisa was disgusting.... The food looked like it was cooked days ago and they just threw it in the microwave. The beans smelled rancid..who knows when the last time they actually changed those containers. And to top it all off, the Manager was absolutely no help. As I'm explaining the situation she goes "get to the point" and then proceeds to tell me that the workers don't know how to use a phone to call the costumers. I have never experienced this kind of disrespect.. what about the people that have food restrictions, allergies or even religious restrictions when it comes to food? They have the audacity to just replace and send whatever left over meat they have in their fridge. I should've read the reviews before ordering. Be very aware of this place before you waste your money here.

When we received the food my father in law went to ask about the plantain since it was not even the half of the plantain yet the photo had the entire plantain. The small piece of plantain was cut in half, so when my father in law went to tell the person in the counter which I'm assuming is the manager, the manager said, "You want me to glue them together?" He was so shocked at the response that he walked away but I found it so disrespectful and unprofessional. My advice to the manager, is fix your deceiving menu pictures and charge a fair price for the small plates you serve but most importantly learn to be a manager, a leader, and learn manners. That is not the best answer you could've given a customer. And lastly, I will never recommend the lunches and dinners here. Bakery is good, fair, and easy to not mess up in.
