I wanted to like this place more than I currently do. Don't' get me wrong - it's still good enough for me to return if I'm already in the area and hungry. But here are the misses: - empanadas aren't that great - bread options also not that great - stop serving fresh juices early in the afternoon - service could be more friendly - needs better dessert options Aside from these drawbacks, the hot dishes are great, as well as their soups - and are definitely among the better options in this side of Jamaica, Queens. Usually there's also plenty of seating, and the area is clean. read more

- [ ] NutriPan Bakery 2 (Jamaica NY) - corner neighborhood Colombian bakery - nice spot for lunch or a snack (both savory and sweet). Stopped by to pick up a few empanadas, and they were pretty steady for lunch with many dining in. The lovely lady at the cashier was friendly and welcoming. I had a short wait for the cheese empanada and left also with a chicken and beef empanada. They were pretty good, I love Colombian empanadas because they put potato. Of course cheese is always a winner, and out of the meat empanada, I liked the chicken best. Super cute and reasonably priced. read more

I didn't know what I was missing by not going to this place sooner. This place is a bakery but they also sell yummy hot dishes. I usually get their rice and beans with salmon or chicken and plantains. It's very filling and seasoned well. People also rave about the empanadas well. You can eat in or take to go. read more

I didn't think I could find good Colombian bread outside Astoria but I did. This bakery is conveniently located down the block from the Sutphin Blvd train station and across from the queens courthouse. The line was long but I was in and out. The girls were super sweet! I got a large cheese bread and 3 pan de bono for $13. The pan de bono was fresh and a nice size. I would definitely come back here to try their lunch specials! read more

This is a solid lunch spot if you ever find yourself in queens county court (jury duty no felonies here). Got the Lunch special on Monday (typically a protein and 2 sides) which consisted of chicken, yellow plantains and rice and it's a great cheap deal! read more

What can I say? The food was TOO good I forgot to take a picture!! AGH! Take my word, try their empanadas, guava pastry, and sausage!! Always a must for me. I am so happy to have found another Colombian bakery not too far from me. They help take orders fast and are always kind. It's like a restaurant/bar situation and super cozy if you want to sit in and eat, very homey. Give it a try!! (Spoiler alert, it's not my first time visiting and surely won't be my last!) read more

The pan de bono here was unfortunately very disappointing and not good at all. It was stale and even after microwaving it, it didn't get fluffy at all. Would not recommend this place, at least not for classic Colombian baked goods. read more

Their lentil soup is a must try! It tastes amazing and you can get a side of rice with it. Make sure you call ahead to check if they have it because each day they have different soups. I've also tried their steak, rice, and beans and it tasted great. They offer many different food options and desserts. The staff is very pleasant so service was great. I will definitely come back to try other options. read more

I stop at Nutripan multiple times per week on my way home from work while transferring from the air train to the bus. They always have a good selection at the hot food table. I have tried everything from baked chicken, ribs, fried fish, soups to the empanadas. Everything that I have tried hits the spot. The staff is always very pleasant. They have a bakery section and fresh juice section. I haven't tried either but I always see a steady flow of customer's purchasing those items. If you are in the neighborhood this is a good stop. By the way they also have a full menu to order from. I have never ordered from the menu because I am usually in a rush. read more

Lunch near the Queens County Supreme Courthouse can be a daunting experience in a walking distance food desert. Your options are limited. There is amazing food nearby, but not necessarily close enough to get back fast enough if you are on trial . Nutripan 2 is a serious gift. The menu is quite substantial and you will find something. Recently I had an amazing grilled chicken with rice and beans and took half of it with me and the packaging was court appropriate. The next morning I was able to get a nice coffee that I poured myself and not have to worry about the ridiculousness of Starbucks. The staff is very nice. The place is clean. read more

The food, incredible. The staff, marvelous. Nutripan 2 truly exhibits all of the flavors of Colombian delicacies - in the heart of our very own city. I've eaten way too many items from here to list, but I would travel in the horrendous Belt Parkway traffic, to the ends of the earth, for the food here. read more

We got here pretty early in the morning and it was busy but it was too early for food. They have hot fresh cooked delicious foods ready for the morning rush. It was like a buffet style but you don't serve yourself. Everything looked so good. People came in to pick up coffee, Columbian breads, empanadas, rice and beans plus more. We came back a little bit before lunch to pick up some beef empanadas, cheese breads plus a couple of chicharrons (Columbian fried pork belly). I have to say that their chicharrons were were very impressive. They were large and cooked perfectly. They do offer indoor seating and they also get a nice lunch crowd. I really enjoyed everything and there are a few dishes that I want to order the next time I am in the area. read more

Nutripan, a Colombian Bakery, offers dine-in services as well. The majority of both staff and customers appeared to be Hispanic. Despite the summer season, I was pleasantly surprised to discover they served hot soup. Although I was the sole person in line, I wasn't assisted by either staff member. Then, dining-in Spanish-speaking customers arrived and they were served ahead of me, even skipping me four times before finally helping me. This behavior was entirely new to me. Once I was eventually assisted, I ordered the two soup options and rice and beans to go, since their restroom was out of service. The food's pricing was more reasonable compared to the city's rates and did taste like what I had expected. It was good. Despite the heat outside, the air conditioning inside provided relief, even with a full house. Although credit transaction fees has become a trend. It's worth noting they impose a higher credit transaction fee of 4%, but there doesn't appear to be a minimum purchase requirement. To enhance their service, it might be beneficial for the staff to wear name tags and label their position such as waitress only and they could work on improving their customer service skills. read more

Not the best comida Colombiana en Nuevo Yorke. But certainly a wonderful oasis for almuerzo in a neighborhood and on a street where the choices are so limited. I had craved this after a conversation as I was leaving my meeting across and down the street, and I found just what I was talking about: pollo y arroz, frijoles y maduro. But the chicken is very dry and the rice was not the most moist and flavorful either. The beans and maduro hit the spot very well. I will give this place another chance in the future. read more

The pastries are good but not didn't care for the chicharron. L just bought a pound of chicharron from a restaurant not too far away so this was disappointing after we tried the other one. L said it was a lil fishy smelling? Maybe they fried fish in the same oil. Wasn't horrible, just can't compare to some of the best chicharron I've had before. The pan de bono was great. Soft and chewy. Great with coffee or hot chocolate. Typical breakfast. Arepa de choclo wasn't too sweet. Not as greasy as other places in Queens. Would've liked more corn flavor. L had the chicharron de guava again and it was still pretty good even though we ate it in the evening. Wasn't too sweet either. So I guess this place is good for pastries. read more

When I think of Colombia, I think only of coffee and cocaine. This restaurant totally changed my entire, previously exceedingly ignorant, worldview. Food: huge fan of the chicken leg and rice for $8 lunch. This price makes it on par with the Chinese dumpling place next door, which is quite price competitive already. The baked goods are okay, too. I just pointed and said one, one, one, and over time, tried nearly everything. I like that cheesy ball bun thing. Sutphin Boulevard is no longer the food desert it once was when I first started practicing law. Service: The Colombian people who run this bakery/restaurant could not have been more considerate and patient with my limited Spanish speaking ability! Restaurants/bakeries like these are what make Queens County so amazing. I love living near here and working across the street. Life is made richer for residents because of these hardworking immigrants. Thanks for choosing Queens County. read more

Jurors - lawyers - I strongly recommend this place for breakfast or lunch. Went back today for lunch before court. They have several special ms of the day in steam tables behind the counter like fried chicken and beef stew. I had a tamale, which was different than Mexican tamales in that it was huge, very moist and stuffed with chicken, pork and something like garbanzo beans in a masa breading. It was very filling and satisfying. I do wish their hot sauce was hotter but minor complaint. Proximity to Queens Supreme and Civil can't be beat! read more

Well where to start.. outside is very unassuming... just another columbian restaurant. On entry the cakes.. the cannoli.. i had to backtrack. Ordered a cannoli to go. The food was also a surprise. Unlike most hispanic restaurants, it's NOT SALTY!!! Not riddled with Sazon. Salt and pepper on the table, salt it up if you like. My rice, beans and stew beef was on point. I cleaned my plate and so did my tablemate and apparently so does every other patron. A pleasant addidition to a columbian restaurant - a juice station. OMG!! Don't know the words to describe. The $6 a cup is more than worth it. No ice, no water, no sugar, no powder, no "can't see what we are doing" issues. Pure fruit and veggie goodness. When chick picked up 3 oranges a whole apple two whole carrotts i was dumbfounded. All of it went into a see-through machine that squeezed every drop of goodness into the cup. Move over Tropicana - you've been served! Service with a smile always scores with me. My food was sent to the wrong table and remedied immidiately before i even noticed. Smiles, no attitudes, not to the customers, not to each other, not even when i asked "are the cakes made here?" Even after I ate the dishes were whisked away pronto! Four stars for one detail.. they need a bigger space or one or two less tables. I was a bit crunched and from the looks of it, so is everyone else - full house. So this is now my goto spot when am in the area during lunch hours. See ya Dunkin, Subway and Popeye's! read more

We ordered bistec encebollado (steak with onions), entraña asada (grilled skirt steak), and cola (oxtails). The steak with onions was basic but the rice was really not very good. The black beans were not typical of the meals served with much to be desired. The grilled skirt steak was a bit salty and the oxtails were bland but incredibly soft considering it was 8pm when we ate. To drink: Lulo in water, a Colombiana, and Mango in milk. It's embarrassing to know that I can make it better at home than a professional restaurant who prides itself on natural fruit juices. The "juiceing" area was closed at seven so we could not order anything from that part of the menu. Highlights of the meal included the hot sauce (picante) and the potato salad. Both were great. Lastly, the tab came to us and we were told upon providing a credit card that there is a 4% processing fee. Apologies for not having told us sooner. I believe that is illegal in NYC! I will need to look into this further... read more

Great display of a Colombian bakery. Right on spot for their lunch specials. Buñuelos are Great and cheesy. If you want to try a true Colombian christmas classic, get the Tamales. They are available here year round. Contrary to Mexican Tamales, their Colombian counterparts are meal sized, the "masa" is not only of corn but also of rice, they are wrapped in banana leaves (not corn husks), they have peas and carrot for veggies and boiled egg, pork, beef, and chicken all at once for protein. This variety of tamales is from the Department of Tolima. They can be bought in advance and frozen. Steam to reheat and voilà! read more

I'm always in the mood for Colombian deliciousness but this wasn't it. I was in the neighborhood for work and had some time before my appointment. I went in and it's a very basic look restaurant. I wouldn't be able to tell it was Colombian had I not seen the beverages in the fridge and sign on the window. They have 3 large TVs with 3 different shows in this small place, no clue why. Anyways, it was 10am and they were still making and putting food out. They had some empanadas and I chose a beef and chicken. I also ordered an ice tea. The female behind the counter put the items on the high counter and walked away signaling me to go to the register on the far end of the counter. I was puzzled and tried to get my food but again she had left it on the high counter towards the back. I had to ask this guy next to me to get it for me. I pay and don't get a thank you or anything. I sit down and begin to eat the chicken one and it taste ok but there's no chicken in it. It's just mashed potatoes. And it was hallowed. I then ate the beef and same thing. All hallowed and barely anything in them. I swear I sat for 20mins and my stomach began to bubble lol. Badly. I had to run to bathroom which by the way was so disgusting. 3 women running the place, 10 am and that bathroom looked worse than a McDonald's one. Ummm, I wont be back. I was left disappointed and with bubble guts and $6 less rich. read more

This place has the advantage of being one of the very few restaraunts in the neighborhood. (I dont personally count Popeyes or McDonalds as restaurants.) It happenes to be a mixed residential/ business area. It is surrounded by two courts and office buildings. That said, options for lunch are somewhat limited. So far I have eaten here four times. It's clean, has adequate seating arrangements and the girls who work here are really nice and helpful. As for the food, good Columbian food, delicious. On one occassion I ordered baked chicken, avocado and yucca and some seafood rice. The next time I had a salad, pork chops, rice and peas. I had some chicken soup to go. Barbecue chicken, yellow rice, plantains, everthing was very tasty, not to mention fast despite the lines. The bread is amazing. Yummy, I could pack on pounds just looking at it. Did I mention reasonable? The prices are nice. I am happy to welcome this new business to the neighborhood. I think it's peachy to finally have something other than fast food chains if you have to eat on the go. read more
