Shrimp shell. It was in the bottom of the salad. Contaminated the whole dish
Elena B.

We ordered a whole chicken combo for delivery that came with the avocado salad, fries and rice and beans, the salad had a left over shrimp shell that probably either someone ate while preparing the salad or it was on the container and no one checked if it was clean. Absolutely disgusting, it looked like a tomato at first and then we saw the legs and immediately put it down. We couldn't even eat the rest of our meal.

Whole chicken

I have passed by this particular restaurant on numerous occasions. And yesterday I decided to go inside to place an order. The decor of the restaurant was decent, the place wasn't a big restaurant. But they had seating in the back .I ordered a whole chicken with rice and beans, plantains a salad, and a few Peruvian green and white sauces. The chicken was seasoned just right ,beans and rice was on point, salad and plantains as well was tasty. The cashier was nice and courteous, and the prices weren't to high.

Does that look like half a chicken?

UPDATE: My Co-Worker was nice enough to share his meal with me and the bottom line of the food. Not great. The chicken itself was dry, Sweet Plantains were dry, no green sauce to compliment it. I am sadly disappointed in this place. Will not be coming back to this location. It's upsetting when a company orders lunch from this establishment. You would get what you ordered. 4 orders of the half chicken combo... with missing thighs? Who DOES THAT!? Missing green sauce... and one of order was completely crushed ... I have to throw my lunch out mainly cause half of it was in the plastic bag. It could easily be the delivery service...but, losing an entire thigh!? from 4 orders!? I know I'm ranting. But, this was poorly executed.

Chaufa de Carne

I wish I could have given a 5 star review but the one item ordered was underwhelming to say the least. I ordered a beef fried rice referred to as "chaufa de carne". I've included a photo and my iPhone makes all food look good. However, this fried rice included a sub par meat that was similar to chewing gum. Additionally, it only included clumps of white rice, salty taste of soy sauce, scallions, and scrambled egg. It was missing vegetables and flavor. I make this dish better myself and I'm not Peruvian. Even the green sauce didn't help. I won't be ordering from here again. By the way this one plate of rice was $18. Not worth it.

Our total bill, very affordable

Was on a double date with my girlfriend and friends on a Sunday night, roughly around 10 p.m, and we had such a difficult time finding a place to eat. Our first and back-up choices had closed, and we'd given up until we found this place on the monocle feature of the app. The shop is small and is very easy to miss. The front is very narrow and leads to maybe 4-5 tables with seating in the back. The space is bit tight but warn and comfortable. The staff is very friendly. Although most for he waitresses and cooks only speak Spanish, the language barrier is very manageable. They're very attentive and quick to take your order. They offered complimentary wine while waited and later when we were waiting for the bill. As for the food, it was all really good too. Two of us ordered the 1/2 chicken combo special with a side of avocado. The rice and beans were nothing special, and the plantains were not as sweet as I hoped they would be. The highlight of that dish was the chicken. The chicken was plentiful. It was savory and not dry. Our friend ordered the rice chaufa, and she loved it. She loved how much beef was put into the dish and loved the simplicity of it. Finally, our other friend was unsure of what to get, so he played it safe got a chicken cutlet with rice and fries. He had no complaints at all. This place is a gem, especially for late nights! Be on the look out for more gems in Jamaica, Queens.

The food is amazing here, but staffs attitudes are not so pleasant. I definitely do not feel welcomed whenever I order here in person.

Reading some reviews from my friends, it seems there was a UYE here (over 15 years ago), before I even knew what Yelp was. We were all set to try out one of their Combo meals. On a quiet Tuesday night, I wanted to do takeout, but since it was pretty empty, we decided to dine in and there was only 1 other couple on the other side of the dining room. Our server brings a cup of the signature salsa verde (green sauce) and a dish of Peruvian corn nuts to snack on. Before having Peruvian food, I never knew corn kernels could come in Paul Bunyan size. The soup of the day was Sopa de Pollo and we got 2 bowls to share between the 3 of us. It was very tasty with big hunks of chicken in each bowl. We ordered Combo #2, which consists of a whole pollo a la brasa (rotisserie chicken), avocado salad, salchipapa, maduros and arroz amarillo (yellow rice). The chicken is marinated and grilled perfectly, though on the small side, which made it really tender. I really wonder about the dish origin of salchipapa and how Peruvian cooks came up with serving French Fries and butterflied hot dogs together. One odd thing was that condiments (ketchup, mustard & mayonnaise) were served in packets like at fast food restaurants. What's also odd was that they are the exact same brand of packets used by all the other Peruvians restaurants that I have been to. They must all use the same supplier. I really want to come back to try the Lomo Saltado and the Chaufa. I always tease my Peruvian co-worker about the parallels of Peruvian and Chinese that chaufa comes from chow fahn (fried rice) or see yow is soy sauce. Don't ask me what Lomo is in Chinese because it's NSFW.

Angelina used to come here as a little girl and it was wonderful and special for her to bring me here. The family meal fed as and we even had leftovers to bring home! Gracias a todo en el restaurante and I cannot wait to be back again!

Caleta 111 is a culinary gem in Richmond Hill!…read more This place NEVER disappoints. My husband and I have dined here a few times, and have ordered takeout just as much. Honestly, if I could eat this every day, I would. The menu offers a journey through vibrant, sometimes unexpected, yet surprising flavors and thoughtful dishes. My personal favorites are the Tiger's Milk, Lomo Saltado, Chica Morada, and cancha - which is a perfect snack on its own! The Tiger' Milk is an explosion of fresh, tangy and savory flavors that excite the palate, while the Lomo Saltado is the ultimate comfort food - perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with bold flavors. If you're looking for something different, order the Chaufa de Mariscos. From the very first bite, we got instant dopamine hits - the unexpected flavors were a sensory experience that left us saying "ooh!" with each bite. Don't leave without ordering the Chicha Morada. Its a definite must-have. This refreshing, cold Peruvian purple corn drink is lightly sweet with hints of cinnamon and clove that make you feel at home. It's like a non-alcoholic mulled wine, but better - comforting and reminiscent of Christmas, pure perfection in a glass. [I think they rotate desserts, but if the Peruvian ice cream is on the menu, definitely try it. I'll be back to try the others.] The staff is always attentive and friendly. Whether it's your first time or 10th time, they'll ensure you have a great experience. If you're unfamiliar with something on the menu, ask and they're more than happy to explain and recommend dishes that suit your tastes. This definitely adds to the cozy vibes of the restaurant. The decor is another standout feature, most of it seemingly handmade - I think I've seen them working on a few pieces in the past (I live in the neighborhood). Every detail feels intentional, with a personal touch that perfectly complements the amazing food. From the appetizers, to the desserts, you can taste the quality and care that the chefs put into every item on the menu. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Caleta 111 is more than a meal - it's a flavorful adventure I know I'll return to time and time again.

We tried because of the Michelin guide recommendation. Ceviche with 2 plantain chips for $29, who are kidding? walked in and there was no host to attend us, we waited for a bit, I had to walk up to the kitchen and they said to take a seat of preference. We chose the bar, they said the bar setting table was not stable so we had to sit down inside the restaurant while it will still sunny out (it's summer in NYC, so obviously lightning is key). Then, we ordered the chicken combo of 1/2 with rice & beans which is only to-go service and they didn't have but their menu listed. The ceviche took about an hour to arrive which is the only appetizer and 2 beers we ordered, while the restaurant wasn't even full & then we landed up ordering 1more beer while still awaiting the ceviche. Then came the check- they said their system was down so no cards & only Zelle or Venmo- which we Zelle them the $ and then the owner went to verify in the back if they received after she took my phone to double check the amount. I'm sorry but not sorry, we have travelled 60 countries together for 12+ years and this is not the experience we expected from Bib Gourmand / Michelin FALSE Guide! I hope you can take notes from this comment and make improvements to thrive because this is NYC & the options are infinite!
