I'm a big fan of Pio Pio, but this place is closer to me and I'm happy to say that the food especially the rotisserie chicken is just as good. The green jalapeño cilantro sauce is actually slightly better because it has heat. So far I've gotten the 1/4 chicken, fried rice, and beans combo as well as the chicken causa or causa de pollo. Note that I was here a month ago and service was so horrendous I told myself I'll never come back and only do take out hopefully it will be better. Happy I returned and received impeccable service. Note that tip is atomically applied to your receipt and strangely they don't require signature not that it matters because the food is extremely affordable. Glad to see this restaurant doing well recently! Absolutely delicious food!! I want to try different things next time. I would like to see this restaurant stick around so I don't have to go far for Peruvian food.

Love this place!!! I will definitely recommend. Things to try are ceviche, arroz de marisco, chupe de camarones. I haven't try their chicken yet. Green sauce is good too. A lot of people do take out which is a good sign. They have an A for health inspection.

Really awesome goat stew for takeout ! Very affordable at only $16 as well. Well sized portions and great quality. Delish !!

Got their goat stew and it was BOMB.com. The goat was so tender and the amount of food was quite a lot for a lunch entree at only $16. Flavor was spot on. They give a good amount of rice and beans. the combination between all the flavors were amazing. Highly recommend!

Flan with mold and black spots

i ordered flan for my daughter and it came with mold on it and was completely rotten and inedible. whoever packed this definitely had to see it. how can you serve this?! and it was for a child. needless to say she was highly disappointed!

This review is for the delivery. The food came very fast and was still very hot. The whole chicken was kind of salty but I doused it green sauce. The maduros were delicious. The French fries could have been pass. I would order again because the green sauce was great. The chicken combo came with a a lot food for $23.

Ordered maduros from them. This pool of oil though? Seriously? Disappointed.

Ordered from here for the first time and wow! I'm so mad it took me this long! I ordered the Jalea with the chaufa de pollo. First of all, delivery was quick, in about 40 minutes I had my food and they're not super close to my house so that was a pleasant surprise. Secondly, the food was amazingggg!! The jalea's seafood were all super fresh. I could tell that It was freshly made and not just sitting there. Im so upset that I was ordering from Don Pollo all this time when La Cabana Peruana was there all along. No offense to any Don Pollo patrons but La Cabana is seriously some tough competition. I will definitely be dining here soon and be ordering again. Also, portions were huge. My mother son and myself all ate and there's so much leftover. The green sauce and onions for the jalea were also divine. I have zero complaints. Even the delivery guy was a sweetheart! Order/eat here guys! So after ordering 5 times (one time the food never ever arriving) I have to say that my love and adoration for this little restaurant is surely dwindling. Today we ordered the Jalea and the seafood was unbelievably tough as if it was sitting for a long time. Not fresh, basically. They also forgot the onions and green sauce so it tasted even more dry. I think I'm gonna fall back from ordering here often. I was such

Worst place ever! Food takes like an hour to get to you even if you are the only person there. Waitresses well that doesn't exist instead it's a like a twelve year old girl texting and you have to call her like crazy to get an order. On top of it all got a cookie (Alfajor) and it was old smelled like rancid grease and they over baked a batch then tried to fix it by putting an over baked top with an underbaked bottom. Really? Absolutely disappointed.

This Peruvian restaurant provided really good service! To start, we had these really good nuts to much on instead of bread while we waited for our food. For drinks, we had chicha morada, which is a Peruvian sweet drink, but wasn't too sweet. I ordered tacu tacu with steak, while my boyfriend ordered arroz chaufa con carne. My tacu tacu was well cooked and went well with the steak. The arroz chaufa was also not too heavy and had great flavor. My boyfriends parents also had a seafood dish called jalea, which was a big portion size but was well cooked also

I was pleasantly surprised with this place. It looks a lot bigger and cleaner from what you would expect from the outside. I'm sure the mirrors and pretty organs walls help. Anyway, located on crazy Liberty ave, so park on side streets. There are a couple booths and chairs- however they are very uncomfortable! I felt like I could feel the guy seated behind me spine every time he moved. The server while really nice was slow. Like super slow. However, in their defense there was only one waiter and seriously I think I only saw one dude cooking. I'm sure there was more but not that I saw in terms of the kitchen. Customer traffic flow was steady but not insanely busy. I ordered their Chicha Morada, Anticuchcos, tamal de cerdo, and Pargo Frito. Yes-it was all for me. Chichi was chichi-you love it or hate it. The food servings are large, The anticucho ( chicken hearts-although it looked like pork and tasted like it) could've been a entree on its own. The tamale was okay, it had a lot of meet but the super bitter sole black olive made me angry. The Pargo Frito ( fried sea bass) was very good. Nice flavor and crispy. My friend ordered the giant fried seafood platter which could have fed 2 ppl. She also ordered the ceviche mix which i found to be okay nothing spectacular. Overall? Not a bad spot, I would come back if I was in the area to try something new but wouldn't go out of my way.

Last night my in laws invited my wife an I to La Cabana Peruvian restaurant for the first time, and let me tell you that the food was exceptional. I ordered the Ceviche de Pescado which was the best that I've eaten in years. The pollo con arroz was very juicy, along with the chicharron de pescado . A must go to restaurant if you're in the Queens, Ozone park area. Thanks Blanca and George for a lovely dinner.

It was a…read moreSaturday around 10 p.m., and finding an open place to eat at that hour was not easy, so this felt like a practical option on the way home. I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.

They had just opened so the place was still a little chilly. They sat us under the heater so we could stay warm. We immediately got some menus and placed our orders. The food came out relatively quickly. I got the quarter chicken and tried an emoliente, a traditional Peruvian drink. The chicken was a little dry but the green sauce really helped. I really like that sauce. I can do shots of that all day. It's creamy with just the right amount of heat. The skin of the chicken was surprisingly crispy. The drink was very unique. I can't tell you what it was like but it had a slight citrus, licorice, and herbal flavor. The liquid was a little thick and had a slight sweetness. I can't say if I liked it but it certainly warmed me up. My friend had the empanadas and another had the half chicken with salad, fries, and beans. They were both happy with their meal. We shared the ceviche mixto, arroz con mariscos, and a dulce de leche dessert with tulle and cookies. The appetizer and entrée were excellent; the ceviche mixto was incredibly fresh, and the seafood in the arroz was perfectly cooked, with rice that was well-seasoned and flavorful. Unfortunately, the ice cream in the dessert was grainy, as if it had been sitting too long. This could have easily been a five-star experience. I wouldn't have held the dessert against them, but the service fell short. When we arrived, the server was on her phone and minimally attentive. Communication was a bit difficult, especially when asking about desserts which weren't on the menu. We had moved a candle from another table because it was so dark, and although she noticed, she didn't offer assistance. After dropping off our food, she didn't check on us at all and remained up front on her phone. She did inform us ahead of time that the credit card machine wasn't working, so payment would need to be cash or Zelle, which was fine. However, when we paid in cash, she didn't return with change, we had to ask for it, and she then disappeared to the back to retrieve it. The whole process was awkward. That said, the entrée was so good that I'd consider coming back to try more dishes...hopefully with better service next time.

Instead, another group walked in after us, and I watched as a table was cleaned and prepared for five people. I approached the manager to confirm whether we were being seated next. He acknowledged that I was right, admitted he remembered speaking with me earlier, but said the table was for five people. Despite that, he still seated the other party before us. By this point, our wait was well over 20 minutes. I even confirmed that the other group did not have a reservation--which would have been the only explanation that made sense. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and this kind of oversight completely ruins the experience. It's the simple things that matter.
