Delicious food and excellent service. I've been coming here for a few years now. The quality of food here is always the best. I've tried their jalea (crispy fried shrimp, fried yucca, fried squid, fried fish, fresh mussels), cau-cau (honeycomb tripe stew with tumeric sauce served with white, tallarin verde con bistec (pesto sauce with pasta and grilled steak), and papa a la huancaina (steamed potato covered with yellow pepper cheese sauce + a olive on the side). Every single one of those dishes are very delicious. My favorite is the jalea. Get the large! Additionally, I really enjoy their chicha morada. It is very refreshing and not too sweet. We come here for good ceviche and good Peruvian food. Every time we come it's a must have if ceviche mixto. All the flavors and the amount of leche de tigre, always must finish. The choclo and the amount of ceviche is delicious. You can share or you can have a plate of your own. If your like me you want a plate or your own. After we tend to get a entree to split which is usually more than enough food. The service it usually pretty quick here and you are not waiting a long time. The food is flavorful and tastes fresh. The sangria here is also the perfect amount of liquor to juice. But we only wish that there were more fruits. The desert, alfajor, was baked just right. Best entrana (skirt steak) in the neighborhood. Make sure to stress the temperature to your server if you want anything less than Well or Med Well. Honestly, everything is so fresh and properly seasoned that its hard not to gush about the entire menu. The ceviche mixto is really the standout though. One order is big enough for two people or one person's entree. Each ceviche is served peruvian style- meaning with sweet potato, regular potato and hominy. Yum. Wine is priced reasonably although it's mostly reds- so so reds at that- which seems to be typical for most of the Spanish speaking establishments in this area. I ate at Sol Inca with my family for lunch they have great varieties of drinks and apps as well. Servers are really friendly, they offered us drinks right away and follow steps of service. As a restaurant manager I want to be treated the way I treat my guests when I go out. We ordered the anticuchos, pescado apanado and salmon a lo macho. El Sol it's my second home away from home, we almost share the same zipcode but these border lines are keeping us apart. Anyways i have been a loyal customer since back when el sol used to be called sunrise (bad joke). We started with the queso and choclo as well as ceviche mixto for starters, then we all got a plate, wife got un bistec a lo pobre, i got the arroz chaufa special and daughter tallarines verdes with bistec, oh yeah she doesnt play and orders typical salchipapa or something off the kiddie menu, her tastebuds fully developed. Ceviche had the amount of pica and the fish was fresh as always, bistec a lo pobre based on what wifey mentioned was very good and a huge amount of food, tallarines verdes didnt disappoint as my chuckyface went in and got rid of I would say 60% of a growns serving, our dry cleaning lady is gonna have fun removing those green stains from her uniform and finally the arroz chaufa, one of my favorites, has everything you could think of to make ur life just a little better than what already is, highly recommend this spot. Reason why I gave it a four star review its because they started adding tips automatically to the bill, even when it was only 3 of us. I was going to give additional tip on top of that but thankfully wife checked before paying and noticed the tip included, very slick el sol even after I asked our waitress to get me change for tip, well played well played but not on my watch, gotta love my peruvian people and their hustle if you can call it that. read more

Recently came here for dinner since a good friend recommended the place. Tucked away in jackson heights, El Sol is a representation of good authentic peruvian food. Interior decór is nice, cozy ambiance. Staff was very friendly. We ordered spicy ceviche mixto and chicken tamal to start. The ceviche was very fresh, flavorful and declicious. Among one of the best ceviches I have had in a while. The tamal was also very good, came wrapped in banana leaves and exposed a tasty peruvian tamal. Definately recommend both dishes. I had the breaded steak with rice and papa ala huancaina, my girlfriend ordered aji de gallina. I wish I could have taken a pic of these entrees but it was so good we couldnt resist digging in. Everything tasted amazing. All ingredients were incorporated well and gave the plates a well rounded burst of flavors on my palate. To drink I had the chicha morada, which was also an accurate representation of how a real good homemade chicha morada is supposed to be. Sweet, slightly tangy, and refreshingly good. I knocked off a star only for two reasons. We had to request for water to be served and when our waiter brought it, he only brought one cup, hence we had to tell him again afterwards to bring another one for myself. Also, just an FYI, this restaurant only accepts mastercard or amex cards. Other than those two things, we had no issues otherwise. Very cute and cozy place, Went there last week, because I was craving green pasta. Upon walking in I liked the interior very much, it screamed "date night". I like that sort of atmosphere. There was live entertainment, a man singing song in the front right by the entrance..he was a bit loud in my opinion but still it can easily be overlooked. the seats were nice with white table cloths and he entire restaurant was nicely lit and had those tree lights around the restaurant and I really liked the sort of lighting effect that added. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet, she brought us our order I ordered green pasta which is basically pasta with pesto sauce with potatoes. Yummiest Peruvian food ever. Me and my friends ordered ceviche con camarrones, tacu tacu bistec encebollado and Lomo saltado from grill. Everything was very fresh and cooked to a yummy perfection. I am definitely coming back here again. The waiter was very polite and attentive. The only "but" there was the espresso, no foam..... I tried this sweet burgundy colored, non alcoholic drink, chicha morada, that I really liked, tasted like non alcoholic sangria. The interior was very authentic. Our bill was $76 without tips. This place needs better management. Had to wait 25 minutes just to get the waiter to serve us a coffee. There were only two guys there today(on Fathers day), the short one kept trying to avoid eye contact and the second one looked like he had no idea what he was doing. And the girl behind the bar was twiddling her fingers half the time. She should have been out on the floor helping out. The food was good, its just a shame that the service has been getting worse and worse throughout the years. This may have been my last visit to this place. Cheap good Peruvian food. One of the few in the area that offers many dishes not just chicken. Tight space means you'll be waiting for a seat on weekends spotty service but it is what it it. They're not nasty or anything just lack attention that you probably want at a restaurant. Parking in the area is tough. I'd give this more stars but my girlfriend ordered a Picante de Marisco dish and it was according to her "ok". I know her and that means it's a 5/6 on a 10 scale. Not a bad place. El Sol is just ok. The place is relatively romantic, with white plaster and faux-stone walls, Andean decorations, and a friendly waitstaff. Food is restaurant-style Peruvian. We ordered a mix of meat and seaffod. Tacu tacu with bifstek got the rice-and-beans part correct, with plump beans and flavorful rice; however, the skirt-steak meat needed a little more tenderizing, coming off as being a bit too chewy and dry. The grilled red snapper was much more satisfying; a whole fish grilled to perfection, served with tangy and crunchy red onions (the kind they serve with ceviche), fried yucca and salsa. Never thought I would rave about seafood from a restaurant on gritty Northern Blvd but maybe El Sol does fish better than meat. Sadly didn't try the ceviche, because at ~$18/entree, it already felt like a spendy meal. Maybe that's my problem with El Sol. High prices are not justified by quality of food or experience. Additionally, our dining experience was overshadowed by the "C" restaurant sanitation rating in the window, a rickety table, a few fruit flies, and a pesky photographer roaming the room, wanting to take our photos. I guess it's all part of the charm, right? Tell me I'm right... If I am going to drop ~$25+/per person on Peruvian, I'll class-it-up and go to Chimu in Williamsburg. None of the old staff is there and he micromanaged the one poor waitress who has to work for him. The food is off as well and he cannot get an order right. My friend got her order first. He didn't understand enough English or Spanish for 2 separate entrées of Salmon. He couldn't make a simple cranberry and vodka and her food was stone cold by the time mine arrived undercooked. The poor waitress offered us a free desert which we declined. All we wanted was to get out. Took a half an hour to get the bill. I went yesterday with my family 12 people total for a celebration. The food came out fast and was good no complains on the food. We ordered ceviches, jaleas, soups, lomo saltado and so much more. However the waitress really sucked! She was rude nasty and had this attitude as soon as we walked through the door! Sucks for them because we had lots of cash to spend on food drinks and tips. She didn't deserve it. We spend total $240 that was so little for us considering when we go out on special occasions we spend anywhere from $590-$800. The point is having nasty rude people working in a customer service industry will mess up your business! Secret: Some of the best Ceviche you'll get I love the variety of Peruvian food, and I love the common use of red onion, often as part of the dish and sometimes even as a garnish. I'm not a connoisseur of Peruvian food so I might not be the best judge of this in terms of comparing to other places, but I thought this place was pretty good. The atmosphere is quite cozy, in fact, I was with two friends and we looked into the three Peruvian places within a few blocks --this one and Punto Fijo and El Anzuelo Fino and found it to be the coziest-looking. We did not consider Pio Pio because we wanted a quieter atmosphere. The service was attentive and the food was fine. I don't think it's the best food I've ever had, but I thought it was good and I would go back because I liked the place in general. We didn't drink alcohol that night but got the mango-milkshakes which were nice. Sorry I can't be more descriptive about the food- it's been a few months since my visit. read more

Being from a family of Peruvian Foodies, I've proudly eatten alot of Peruvian food in my day and I would def. put El Sol up there in terms of Peruvian food I've tried in the US. Its just a really cozy and friendly environment with great authentic food. The "ceviche de pescado" (fish ceviche) has always been extremely fresh and delicious. As is the accompanying shot of "leche de tigre" which is a concoction of all the lime and fish juices that marinate the fish into a hearty WOOHOOO shot of citrus bliss.haha The "Choros a la chalaca" is this traditional mussels dish that is really tasty also. I especially like the tomato,onion,corn salsa it comes with. Some other favorites include: the cau cau (tripe), Pescado a lo Macho (whole fish with seafood on top), lomo saltado (beef and potato goodness), Churasco al Lo probre (steak platter with fried egg to top it off), Arroz Chaufa ( Chinese-Peruvian Style Fried Rice). Judging from the outside, you wouldn't expect such a cute place inside. As far as the food, service was pretty descent. The ceviche was delicious. I asked for spicy but I didn't get my ceviche as spicy as I would have wanted it but good flavors and a good portion too. The waiter was nice enough to not charge us a corkage fee for our bottle of wine. Gratuity is already included in the bill which is fine by me but my Peruvian family was not too happy about that. My husband had the seco de Cabrito and the meat was nice and tender. My sister had the salmon and it was tasty and a good portion too. So I went back and took a friend and the food was horrible I've been there so many times before the meat was just not good at it tasted old even though it was supposed to be a new grilled steak the rice tasted as if it was two days old and the server was extremly rude I felt that when I ordered my food and she brought it out she was going to throw it at us.
