place is overpriced, food was good though, however our waiter wasnt that good she forgot two parts of our order like the yuca and papa a la huancaina. we also tipped extra after the the tip had been already included in the bill which we saw later on

I love this place for ceviche. I'm Peruvian and I must say it's kinda hard to find a good place for ceviche but this is it !! Really tasty and nails the flavor of authentic Peruvian ceviche. My only issue is the price for the quantity you're getting. It was about 20 dollars for what I think is an appetizer size and it was a special. Could go sitter bigger or less on price. Also no cancha if you know, you know.

I have always love this place, It never ever disappoints, food is always flavorful, filling and always a good bang for your money. Service is great, friendly staff always make great recommendations. Portions are very generous and the chef maintains the traditional flavors of good peruvian food, so when in queens New York definitely a place to visit.

A good Peruvian friend of mine told me that the food here was similar to home and that was enough for me to want to run over there right away! I didn't have enough Peruvian food while in Peru earlier this year and was aching for more! Ever had Colombian food? Great food, even better portions ~ Peruvian is this - But BETTER! You sit down and get a lil bowl of corn nuts to munch on. We ordered 5 different dishes (and I tried them all! Haha I'm such a little piggie): PESCADO A LO MACHO - BEST DISH! ($18 ~ Everything else was $11-15) Sauteed Mussels, Calamari, Shrimp in a spicy "A La Crema" seafood sauce over fish, with some sliced fried potatoes, separate bowl of white rice I had leftovers because this plate was so monstrous, my parents said it was one of the best thing's I ever brought back and asked why there were leftovers to begin with. LOMO SALTADO - 2nd Best Dish! It's just so mouthwatering delicious! Tender Beef sauté with onions and tomatoes in a soy sauce Served with French fries and white rice BISTEK CON TALLARINES VERDES - This steak was HUGE (It's not a steakhouse thick steak, it's served Peruvian style) Steak, Served on Top of Spaghetti with Spinach-Basil Sauce and Parmesan Cheese POLLO APANIZADO CON TALLARINES VERDES - Wow, did they put the entire chicken on the plate? HUGE Breaded Chicken, Served on Top of Spaghetti with Spinach-Basil Sauce and Parmesan Cheese BISTEK CON TALLARINES A LA HUANCAINA - Looking at this makes me drool Steak, Served on Top of Boiled Potatoes with Special Cheese Sauce Don't forget the SALSA A LA HUANCAINA This is the magic Cheesy Sauce, it goes on Everything! Oh! I almost forgot about the Pisco Sours! Excellent! Check out my Pics - You'll be out of your seat and over there within seconds!

Ceviche mixto- SO GOOD (best around)

Best entrana (skirt steak) in the neighborhood. Make sure to stress the temperature to your server if you want anything less than Well or Med Well. Honestly, everything is so fresh and properly seasoned that its hard not to gush about the entire menu. The ceviche mixto is really the standout though. One order is big enough for two people or one person's entree. Each ceviche is served peruvian style- meaning with sweet potato, regular potato and hominy. Yum. Wine is priced reasonably although it's mostly reds- so so reds at that- which seems to be typical for most of the Spanish speaking establishments in this area. Really wish they would add some Albariño or prosecco- would pair great with the seafood!!!

El Sol it's my second home away from home, we almost share the same zipcode but these border lines are keeping us apart. Anyways i have been a loyal customer since back when el sol used to be called sunrise (bad joke). Seriously though i have introduced many of my family members and friends to this spot whenever they ask me where to go for some good ole inca food, mis paisanos at el sol have never let me down, representing us well. I have tried many of their dishes and they all have been delicious/exquisite but as I have mentioned on other reviews, I stick to what works.. Kind of like if it ain't broken then why fix it, ya feels me. We decided to pay another visit today with my wife and daughter, my lil one being 6 loves ceviche and is not picky when it comes to peruvian cuisine, real recognizes real. We started with the queso and choclo as well as ceviche mixto for starters, then we all got a plate, wife got un bistec a lo pobre, i got the arroz chaufa special and daughter tallarines verdes with bistec, oh yeah she doesnt play and orders typical salchipapa or something off the kiddie menu, her tastebuds fully developed. Ceviche had the amount of pica and the fish was fresh as always, bistec a lo pobre based on what wifey mentioned was very good and a huge amount of food, tallarines verdes didnt disappoint as my chuckyface went in and got rid of I would say 60% of a growns serving, our dry cleaning lady is gonna have fun removing those green stains from her uniform and finally the arroz chaufa, one of my favorites, has everything you could think of to make ur life just a little better than what already is, highly recommend this spot. Reason why I gave it a four star review its because they started adding tips automatically to the bill, even when it was only 3 of us. I was going to give additional tip on top of that but thankfully wife checked before paying and noticed the tip included, very slick el sol even after I asked our waitress to get me change for tip, well played well played but not on my watch, gotta love my peruvian people and their hustle if you can call it that.

Recently came here for dinner since a good friend recommended the place. Tucked away in jackson heights, El Sol is a representation of good authentic peruvian food. Interior decór is nice, cozy ambiance. Staff was very friendly. We ordered spicy ceviche mixto and chicken tamal to start. The ceviche was very fresh, flavorful and declicious. Among one of the best ceviches I have had in a while. The tamal was also very good, came wrapped in banana leaves and exposed a tasty peruvian tamal. Definately recommend both dishes. I had the breaded steak with rice and papa ala huancaina, my girlfriend ordered aji de gallina. I wish I could have taken a pic of these entrees but it was so good we couldnt resist digging in. Everything tasted amazing. All ingredients were incorporated well and gave the plates a well rounded burst of flavors on my palate. To drink I had the chicha morada, which was also an accurate representation of how a real good homemade chicha morada is supposed to be. Sweet, slightly tangy, and refreshingly good. I knocked off a star only for two reasons. We had to request for water to be served and when our waiter brought it, he only brought one cup, hence we had to tell him again afterwards to bring another one for myself. Also, just an FYI, this restaurant only accepts mastercard or amex cards. Other than those two things, we had no issues otherwise. Service was great, food delicious, prices very reasonable, what more could you want?

Very cute and cozy place, Went there last week, because I was craving green pasta. Upon walking in I liked the interior very much, it screamed "date night". I like that sort of atmosphere. There was live entertainment, a man singing song in the front right by the entrance..he was a bit loud in my opinion but still it can easily be overlooked. the seats were nice with white table cloths and he entire restaurant was nicely lit and had those tree lights around the restaurant and I really liked the sort of lighting effect that added. Our waitress was very friendly and sweet, she brought us our order I ordered green pasta which is basically pasta with pesto sauce with potatoes. You can either order steak or grilled chicken with it (I ordered steak) it was delicious! my friend ordered skirt steak and it came with a side of potatoes with this yellow sauce, very tasty I see myself going back there again.

    Zarina A.

Yummiest Peruvian food ever. Me and my friends ordered ceviche con camarrones, tacu tacu bistec encebollado and Lomo saltado from grill. Everything was very fresh and cooked to a yummy perfection. I am definitely coming back here again. The waiter was very polite and attentive. The only "but" there was the espresso, no foam..... I tried this sweet burgundy colored, non alcoholic drink, chicha morada, that I really liked, tasted like non alcoholic sangria. The interior was very authentic. Our bill was $76 without tips. So you get great food, big portions for a good price.

Loved loved loved it AUTHENTIC PERUVIAN you hear. From appetizers to dinner to desert and can't forget the drinks. You're not living if you're without alfajores and chicha morada and both were on point. Their papa la huancaina couldn't get any closer to my mom's. The lomo saltado, chicken causa and tallarin with huancaina sauce amazeballs. Chicharron de pollo not their thing had no seasoning. Can't wait for my moms next visit to take her but I'll definitely be returning with family and friends.

The food and cocktail were not commensurate with the prices. The Rotisserie Chicken was moist and tasty, and the portion was huge, but the green sauce was too spicy for me. The chicken stood well on its own. The filet mignon in the Lomo Salteado was not seasoned. It was so bland that not even the extra salt that I added could fix the taste, but the Yucca Fries were outstanding--especially when dipped in some green sauce. The Arroz Chaufa with Shrimp also let me down. It tasted like slightly rancid oil was used to make it. The shrimp did not taste fresh caught, either, and the chicken was pitifully dry. The Pisco Sour left a lot to be desired although the foam on top was decorated nicely! The place is large and well decorated with Peruvian masks on the wall. The waiter provided good service, and the owner was walking around the floor, managing the place, but I AM ONE AND DONE! I will not be back!

The friendly employee checked if I ordered from the kiosk, and I did. After 5 minutes or so, my order was ready and I took it to go. The stir-fried beef was really salty (think it's the marination) even when you eat the beef with the white rice or fries to try to dilute how much sauce there is. The tomato and onions were great. Dishes we've had include: - Half Chicken: $9.50; $10.34 with tax. The chicken and accompanying green sauce are above average; 4 stars out of 5. The chicken is flavorfully marinated and moist, and the green sauce has a little heat to it. - The Sampler: $16.99; $18.59 with tax. The most flavorful component of this dish was the chicken. The rice was on the mushy side. The ceviche was OK but the proteins didn't quite have the right textures. - Aeropuerto Special: $15.25; $16.60 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. A mixture of thin lo mein noodles and rice with some roast pork, chicken, and shrimp. The dish seemed to have a decent wok hei, which was confusing because the chicken rice from the Sampler was on the mushy side. This dish would be much better with more proteins, and the wok hei suggests that the restaurant has untapped potential. - Papa Rellena: $8.95; $9.74 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. Stuffed deep fried potatoes that seemed factory-made, instead of house-made. Atmosphere, Service, Other: The restaurant is casual, clean, and comfortable for dining in, with a mix of regular tables and booth-style seating. Those who choose to dine-in should order food at the counter, receive a number placard, and find a place to sit. Staff will bring plates, utensils, and later, one's food and drink; and will clear the table when your party is finished eating. Service is notably upbeat. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at an affordable 12%. Overall ticket time (the time between placing an order and having that order served) is reasonable. By contrast, Bayside Chicken Lovers often requires that orders be placed in advance to minimize wait time. The restroom is adequately maintained, but oddly pipes in music louder than in the main dining area. Simple Peruvian is a couple of storefronts away from Kora, which is a superb place for dessert afterwards.

A lot of Astorians say that they're the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken in the area & "Chino Latino" restaurant (more than the other one further down Broadway). I think the food here is better than it's viral sister restaurant in Sunnyside. And cleaner, brighter, & with more of a neighborhood feel. An young man was just finishing an early dinner with his grandmother, helping her leave the restaurant with her cane. Other small families came in for dinner also. The other place's dining area seems like a hallway rest stop for workers, couples & their late lunch. I ordered the around $22 1/4 Chicken (dark meat) & 3 Spare Ribs w/ white rice. Be prepared to wait a bit - they are THAT busy. I got there around 5:30pm on a weekday & there were already 5-7 people in the front area waiting for their orders. The Green Sauce! is good & Much better than their sister restaurant's. Balanced between savory with a bit of spice & herb. I enjoyed the spare ribs more than the chicken. They were super tender & a medium flavor. Would actually appreciate a little bit more marinade, but it was decent. The chicken was just okay, needed more marinating time/flavor. Rice was long grain & mostly moist & cooked well. Never a fan of place's fried rice - always lacking flavor & not moist.
