CASH ONLY. Ambiance (3/5): Expect some no frills for the interior with old furniture and décor. The establishment is family-friendly and not loud. The dishes were dirty with caked on leftover stains and the soda cans (rims around the mouth) were filthy. Definitely use the provided straw! Service (2/5): There was only one server and one bus boy running the floor. We had to request water cups before they served us. The server was extremely nice and was efficient at the job manning all the tables. It may take some time to get their attention. Food (3/5): All around the food looked good and smelled great. *super* affordable with huge portions for about $15 on average per plate. The table Aji Verde (green sauce) was creamy and spicy--an absolutely must condiment to drown your dishes in!! Aeropuerto "Sam Si" ($14) was a unique dish mix of noodles and rice! The pork was flavored well but chewy. The chicken a bit over salted. Overall, the dish was bland without soy sauce or the special green sauce. Lomo Saltado ($16): The chunks of beef were slightly sweet and tender. This was my favorite protein of the meal. The sauce was delicious and did not need the green sauce. However, I was not a huge fan of the soggy fries that the dish sat on. Bistek Encebollada ($18) The slab of steak was grossly overcooked and thus chewy. It was not that flavored either without drowning it in the green sauce. The side salad was laughable which was just some sliced iceburg lettuce. We also had a scoop of their Lucuma ice cream. The flavors were pronounced but the ice cream itself was a bit iced over. At the end of the meal, both my boyfriend and I had stomach discomfort!! We were not home on the toilet but definitely pangs of pain throughout the night. Heard previous cases of stomach issues from friends... so be warned!

The food was excellent and service was great. Fusion nature of the items was evident with the lomo asado, slightly different from Chinese roast pork. Pescado al vapor entero was fairly fresh and meaty. Tai pa was an amalgam of elements; shrimp was crisp while the quail eggs were pleasant surprises. Lucuma ice cream was unique, with a coffee/nutty kind of flavor. Note the restaurant is cash only.

Very bad customer service, quality and experience. Walked in with coworker as we were in the area, Asian gentlemen at the register was speculating wether we walked We accidentally walked into this restaurant and decided to give it a try. When we asked about the type of food they served, the waiter mentioned it was a mix of Chinese and Peruvian cuisine. After seating ourselves and reviewing the menu, which had over 100 items on one side, we felt a bit overwhelmed. I asked the waiter for a chicken dish recommendation, but instead of helping, he walked away, telling us to let him know when we were ready. I specifically asked if the chicken fried rice contained only chicken, onions, and eggs, and was reassured it did. However, when the dish arrived, it had pieces of pork in it. As someone with strict religious dietary restrictions, I cannot eat pork, so this was very upsetting. The waiter quickly took it back to the kitchen, but I was left unsure if the dish was remade or simply reheated. Things only got worse from there. The spicy beef had a strange odor, and the meat tasted undercooked. To make matters worse, I found small hairs in the beef stew. When I brought this to the waiter's attention, the manager came over and offered to cancel our orders. We decided it was best to leave at that point. Overall, the experience was extremely disappointing, especially with serious lapses in food quality and service.

Disclamer: We never had true authentic Peruvian food, but we have a trip planned to go to Manchu Picchu soon. So we decided to try some Peruvian food before our trip. We ordered a bunch of food from the Lunch Menu just because of the great deal. I mean $9 for a meal and soup on a weekend is a pretty good price. We got the Lomo Saltado, Tallarin Salteado de Pollo and Chifa Combinado de Pollo. Additionally, we ordered the Cheviche de Pescado Lenguado, the Chicha Morada, and Bubble Tea with Lychi Jelly-no milk. Appearance wise the food look like Chinese fast food but the taste was not quite the same. Everything was tasty...my favorite being the cerviche and Bubble Tea. I wish the place was closer since it took me about 20 min to get to the restaurant and the fries for the Lomo Saltado was a bit soggy but I could imagine how it would taste like fresh out of the chicken and the sauce was tasty. I was also shocked Uber eats did not have the Lunch specials-otherwise I would have ordered from there. Doordash didn't even have the restaurant as an option. Another nice surprise was this nice Peruvian lady selling more food outside. She was not associated with the restaurant. I bought some pretty good cookies from her. P.S. the restaurant only accepts cash

I found a piece of rubber band and a dime in my food I can't believe that the restaurant didn't want to refund my money back im so upset ease this twice before going to eat at this disgusting restaurant

Basically it's the type of Chinese food I would eat on Christmas as a child. It's standard fare, although I've only had two dishes -- if you are accustomed to Americanized Chinese food nothing here will be a profound revelation. I had the vegetable soup and the chicken with tamarind (pollo con tamarindo). The sauce, I don't think, had any tamarind but in fairness, recipes for the sauce don't include it either -- it's a sweet & sour sauce with a very reddish color. The taste was fine but it was serves lukewarm which worried me -- had it been hot and crispy it would've tasted much better.

As a Peruvian let me tell you it's the best chifa option if you have craving or want to give it a try and eat good food. You will not be disappointed; great service , okay environment, Everyone was so nice and friendly. The wanton soup it's nothing like those Chinese restaurants --not saying is bad -- they don't add the lettuce , Chinese onions and that amazing taste of wanton soup. Fried rice ( arroz chaufa) what can I say of the arrow chaufa; I'm just gonna say: Amazing! Fried noodles ( tallarín saltado, second picture) -I forgot how much I missed eating my tallarín saltado! It's been ages since I had my favorite plate. Eating all that with an inka cola , last but not least : fried wantons= delicious. Definitely coming back again

***ALERT THIS PLACE ONLY TAKES CASH!!**** While i was waiting for my new car to be finished and ready by nissan i decided to check this place out. the Yelp reviews were very high and i love when people give recommendations. it makes choosing something for lunch by yourself a little more independence! I was intrigued that it offered both chinese and peruvian food. last i checked both China and Peru or in different areas. But we live in this great city called NYC and they offer all sorts of food pairing. The food pairing was definitely a success i ordered the pollo chicken lunch special, it came with white rice and some lettuce already dressed in a light oil and vinegar dressing and 1/4 chicken breast they also brought this wasabi/ cream im going to guess mayo based dressing to the table and i added it to my rice and it was pretty good not too wasabi spicy. the portions they gave were huge definitely will fill you up. and for $6 bucks perfect spending. the inside decor is very cute, their back bar looked really cute had some Peruvian and Chinese culture mixed. although the cat with the moving hands was a little weird, it kept catching my eye to its attention. the staff was very friendly. when it came time for my check i told the guy bring it when you can no rush. so he brought it and i said when you have a chance i will need change. he never brought it back. so i just hung out a little while longer because i knew i would have to be waiting at Nissan still. but he never brought it back i didn't even see the waiter come back out. so i had to go up to the hostess station and ask the gentlemen do you still have my check? I said the guy never brought me back the change. that was my only disclaimer for this place i think he took the bring it back when you can a little too literal. but i would definately come back to try other things.

I think this is the best chifa I've had outside of Peru hands down!!! The food is perfect and the prices are reasonable! The only thing that sucks is parking but oh well.. this is my go to chifa spot whenever I'm in New York

This is a must-stop for Peruvian-Chinese cuisine. Honestly, don't bother ordering anything that is not considered Chifa, it'd be like going to an Italian restaurant and ordering tacos. This is their specialty and that's why it's called "Chifa". I've eaten here to get my Chaufa fix, because the one in Montreal isn't really as close to the real deal as this one here is. We ordered family size trays of Arroz Chaufa and you can accompany that with other side dishes, my go to is Pollo Chi jau kay, to me that's a must, but they also have other classics like Tallarín Saltado or other veggie dishes with quail eggs (love those lil guys, hadn't had them in years!). We did have a plate coming with a little piece of plastic or something like that, yes, it's not a pleasant thing to find but the staff was really good about it, fixed the problem right away and was super apologetic. And that's why I still rate it 5-stars, it's that good.

Chifa is a new Peruvian Chinese place that just recently opened up in Jackson Heights, Queens area. The place intrigued me as I didn't know what Peruvian Chinese food is. Brief History on Chinese in Peru: So here goes a brief history, according to Wikipedia history (I know it's not an official source) but it's a guide to get some quick info. Chinese contract laborers (also known as coolies) migrated from Macau (then a Portuguese territory) to Peru for work in the mid-1800s. As time passed over the years, coolies started migrating from Guangdong, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia (to include Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia, and Singapore). In the 1960s and 1970s, many Chinese Peruvians left Peru due to the socialist government, worsening poverty, and earthquakes. Many emigrated to the US, Canada, Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Australia, and New Zealand. Food: With that said, the type of food that is served here at Chifa is really Chinese food with a bit of a Peruvian flair (and maybe a few Peruvian dishes). Some of our favorites are Pollo a la Brasa and their fried Calamari Appetizer. Both bf and I think the Chicken rivals that of Pio Pio's. The green sauce at Chifa, however, is more buttery tasting. Bf prefers Pio Pio's green sauce better. As for the fried Calamari, freshly battered and fried. The lemon sauce that comes with it is very intriguing. Loved it. - Pollo a la Brasa (Half Chicken) with Green Sauce - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=3bPNaoVFmBA7NwlxvcU90g - Fried Calamari Appetizer - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=R7KDDpxHB8RRLeUauuM0Vw Other dishes that we like include the Tai Pa, Tallarin Saltado (Sam Si) and their Langostino Con Champiniones. All 3 dishes have a brown sauce that is very similar to the brown sauce that is served at Chinese take out places. As a kid that grew up in a Chinese take out place - their brown sauce brings back good memories for me. - Tai Pa - with Chicken, Duck, Pork, Shrimp, Quail Egg, and Mixed Veggies - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=otmi0cHaa2D-qGFRL3iEcw - Tallarin Saltado (Sam Si) - Noodles with Chicken, Duck, Beef and Mixed Veggies - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=Yu2Uwmx6jAXZFE5RphrONw - Langostino con Champiniones (Shrimp with Mushrooms) - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=KeAIQvmyNdcKzZFvb020uQ We've also ordered the following: - Sopa Wonton Especial - Their wonton skin was thinner than the average wonton at Chinese take out places. It's the type of skin that is used at Cantonese restaurants. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=DMYnv8ZNeJhjLEnjvQkr1w - Shumai (Chinese Dim Sum Appetizer) - good - http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=_1DLLne-NY3Vbg_N9fnqMg - Chuleta (Big size of Pork Chop pan fried with garlic and onions) - the onions were pan fried perfectly. Seasoning was good on the pork chop. Pork chop itself was a bit dry in some parts. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=bWnPUDHBfn-dr9oigJcKtA - Chancho con Tamarindo y Pina (Pork with Pineapple in Tamarindo Sauce) - good. sauce was a bit sweet from the pineapple. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=bksA9qi4m-G4RfhTKiqo-g Some kinks: - Chifa also has a selection of bubble teas with pearl tapioca, jelly, or pudding. I have ordered the bubble teas twice with pearl tapioca. The first time, the pearl tapioca was too tough. I usually like my pearl tapioca at Taiwanese places that make it very soft and chewy. The second time that I tried to order the bubble tea with pearl tapioca, they didn't have pearl tapioca available. - They also didn't have Lobster with Ginger & Scallion dish when we tried to order it. They need 24 hour advance notice for this dish, which wasn't indicated on the menu. - We also tried to get the Pescado con Vendura (Fish with Vegetables), but then the waiter told us that he didn't eat fish, so we didn't know if this was a good dish to get. Not the answer we were expecting. I don't think I even know a person of Asian descent that doesn't eat fish. Guess there's a first time for everything. - We tried to get the Chicha Morada drink but they didn't have that available. - During one of the visits, they didn't have the Pollo a la Brasa (Rotisserie Chicken) available. This disappointed me the most... it's their signature dish!! (Also note that it was a Tuesday night... I wonder what would have happened if it was a Friday night!) Picture that another Yelper took of the dining room. Very minimal decor. http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/oVdiFY9zSvgW0u-J0DoKbw?select=4dkBH7tbiaGh4MtuVk35FQ Service: Service is a bit slow as the waiters seem a bit absent minded, so some patience may be needed. Overall: Worth a stop by to try their Rotisserie Chicken (if they have it).

    Wonton soup is hottest item.
    Sally W.

The flavors were were only okay, kinda bland. Not somewhere I plan to go back to for another meal. The noodles (Tallarin Saltado) were super soggy. It's my preference to have the noodles crunchy like Cantonese style chow mein. The food wasn't hot enough for me. Most of our dishes came out lukewarm except the soup which was nice and hot. The fries in my Lomo Saltado were not as hot as I would like it and not crispy as if the fries were fried up a while ago. I definitely had better. I was quite disappointed. It was not an empty restaurant. The prices are cheap, portions are okay. Which is a good start but maybe the way they cook is just not for my taste. Would I come back, no. Once was enough for me.

The food and cocktail were not commensurate with the prices. The Rotisserie Chicken was moist and tasty, and the portion was huge, but the green sauce was too spicy for me. The chicken stood well on its own. The filet mignon in the Lomo Salteado was not seasoned. It was so bland that not even the extra salt that I added could fix the taste, but the Yucca Fries were outstanding--especially when dipped in some green sauce. The Arroz Chaufa with Shrimp also let me down. It tasted like slightly rancid oil was used to make it. The shrimp did not taste fresh caught, either, and the chicken was pitifully dry. The Pisco Sour left a lot to be desired although the foam on top was decorated nicely! The place is large and well decorated with Peruvian masks on the wall. The waiter provided good service, and the owner was walking around the floor, managing the place, but I AM ONE AND DONE! I will not be back!

Dishes we've had include: - Half Chicken: $9.50; $10.34 with tax. The chicken and accompanying green sauce are above average; 4 stars out of 5. The chicken is flavorfully marinated and moist, and the green sauce has a little heat to it. - The Sampler: $16.99; $18.59 with tax. The most flavorful component of this dish was the chicken. The rice was on the mushy side. The ceviche was OK but the proteins didn't quite have the right textures. - Aeropuerto Special: $15.25; $16.60 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. A mixture of thin lo mein noodles and rice with some roast pork, chicken, and shrimp. The dish seemed to have a decent wok hei, which was confusing because the chicken rice from the Sampler was on the mushy side. This dish would be much better with more proteins, and the wok hei suggests that the restaurant has untapped potential. - Papa Rellena: $8.95; $9.74 with tax. OK; 3 stars out of 5. Stuffed deep fried potatoes that seemed factory-made, instead of house-made. Atmosphere, Service, Other: The restaurant is casual, clean, and comfortable for dining in, with a mix of regular tables and booth-style seating. Those who choose to dine-in should order food at the counter, receive a number placard, and find a place to sit. Staff will bring plates, utensils, and later, one's food and drink; and will clear the table when your party is finished eating. Service is notably upbeat. Suggested tips are based on pre-tax subtotals, and start at an affordable 12%. Overall ticket time (the time between placing an order and having that order served) is reasonable. By contrast, Bayside Chicken Lovers often requires that orders be placed in advance to minimize wait time. The restroom is adequately maintained, but oddly pipes in music louder than in the main dining area. Simple Peruvian is a couple of storefronts away from Kora, which is a superb place for dessert afterwards.

I've tried their jalea (crispy fried shrimp, fried yucca, fried squid, fried fish, fresh mussels), cau-cau (honeycomb tripe stew with tumeric sauce served with white, tallarin verde con bistec (pesto sauce with pasta and grilled steak), and papa a la huancaina (steamed potato covered with yellow pepper cheese sauce + a olive on the side). Every single one of those dishes are very delicious. My favorite is the jalea. Get the large! Additionally, I really enjoy their chicha morada. It is very refreshing and not too sweet. I recommend the half pitcher for a table of two. Great spot for a date or just to catch up with friends!

The choclo and the amount of ceviche is delicious. You can share or you can have a plate of your own. If your like me you want a plate or your own. After we tend to get a entree to split which is usually more than enough food. The service it usually pretty quick here and you are not waiting a long time. The food is flavorful and tastes fresh. The sangria here is also the perfect amount of liquor to juice. But we only wish that there were more fruits. The desert, alfajor, was baked just right. It's tough to find a good alfajor but this place has one of the best in the areas. This is a small restaurant so get there early and give it a try. It is a great place for Peruvian food!

A lot of Astorians say that they're the best Peruvian rotisserie chicken in the area & "Chino Latino" restaurant (more than the other one further down Broadway). I think the food here is better than it's viral sister restaurant in Sunnyside. And cleaner, brighter, & with more of a neighborhood feel. An young man was just finishing an early dinner with his grandmother, helping her leave the restaurant with her cane. Other small families came in for dinner also. The other place's dining area seems like a hallway rest stop for workers, couples & their late lunch. I ordered the around $22 1/4 Chicken (dark meat) & 3 Spare Ribs w/ white rice. Be prepared to wait a bit - they are THAT busy. I got there around 5:30pm on a weekday & there were already 5-7 people in the front area waiting for their orders. The Green Sauce! is good & Much better than their sister restaurant's. Balanced between savory with a bit of spice & herb. I enjoyed the spare ribs more than the chicken. They were super tender & a medium flavor. Would actually appreciate a little bit more marinade, but it was decent. The chicken was just okay, needed more marinating time/flavor. Rice was long grain & mostly moist & cooked well. Never a fan of place's fried rice - always lacking flavor & not moist.
