I am a regular customer here that has bought it to the attention of 2 people on the register that the prices on the new menu are misleading and nothing was done about it. The price on the menu is displayed that as one pays with cash there's a discount. This is not true. Its the same price whether food is purchased with cash or a card. read more

Cutest little corner restaurant! Love love love their empanadas and their happy hour deals. I got the chicharron and was absolutely stuffed afterwards. Would highly recommend their HH sangria (red is my favorite but the white sangria is pretty tasty too). My BF got their home burger and when they accidentally left off the cheese and took a bite, they made him a whole new burger! I had a most wonderful and peaceful breakfast by myself at Ricky's cafe while the rest of my family shopped around the neighborhood. I ordered a western omelet with rye toast (my usual) and hot coffee. My server could not have been nicer. I apologized for needing to make a couple of phone calls while I was there and he said there was no need. There was an older gentleman who entered, seemed like he had fallen on some tough times. He ordered a bowl of soup and was kind of agitated, but eventually settled down. When I went to pay for myself, I offered to pay for the older man as well, but they waved me off and let me know they had already covered it. How kind! I ended up having a long conversation with the owner, she though she recognized me, but I was not who she thought I was. Beautiful presentation and tasted great on a cold day like this one. Solid 5/5. The BLT? Meh. The bacon was crispy enough to shatter into bacon dust, but the multigrain bread? We stopped by while in the neighborhood, and they were very busy because of the parade. We did enjoy our food, it was lovely, but it was especially sweet how the staff took a second now and then to ask and smile about our toddler who fell asleep. Upon walking in a busy Saturday morning, the waitresses were reluctant to seat my parents and I. My father lost his cool after being ignored for what seemed like ten minutes. We noticed another Hispanic couple being dubbed while the white customers were treated first. Kinda sucked seeing that especially in Jackson heights... but whatever. The food was delicious diner breakfast food. It's less greasy than other options around queens and the portions are smaller for sure. The toast came already buttered for anyone that cares about toast customization. The coffee according to my mother was "real coffee" and the home fries were sooo yummy. I came here for a quick breakfast the other morning. The location is great, as I live just a block away and it is situated just a few blocks away from the 74th St Jackson Heights train station. I ordered a very basic breakfast of eggs with bacon. the order came with a home fries, a choice of toast, coffee/tea, and juice. It was plenty of food for a reasonably priced breakfast special. The staff was friendly and using straws and paper cups to cut down on cross contamination with Covid-19. I will certainly come back for breakfast or lunch soon. read more

I'm a regular. For years. I grew up in this neighborhood. Ricky's is my go to for friendly, neighborhood feel and good food. The coffee, the breakfast (eggs Benedict, steak and eggs, omelettes, pancakes) all delicious. Sandwiches are BIG and tasty too. The service here is why I always come back. They are so friendly and inviting. Also, I love the lemon ginger iced tea the owner makes. I look forward to it when it starts getting warmer out. read more

Around here there is only street parking so make sure to come by train if possible. This place is a dinner like at the corner and the staff is very friendly. We sat here drank coffe and our waitress was awesome. She did not bother us making us order things. she only told us to make sure to call her when we ready, and that is great cause we took our time. Tuna melt- I got it with dinner roll and a cheddar cheese. Amazed with the taste. The food here was pretty good. this is a very nice meal. I will come back to have it again. I do have to say that they took a little long to bring the food and it was a little cooler when it got to the table. So the biggest negative to me was the food not being as warm as I hoped but besides that it was a great place to come a chill, drink some coffee and not worry about a crazy waiter trying to flip the tables. Sausage egg & cheese croissant sandwich Steak & eggs w/potatoe Croissant fluffy yet crispy, sausage of choice not too salty and flavorful. Even with the cheese everything tasted "clean" and not greasy. Steak was done medium the way it should have been and eggs tasted fresh. Tea was just the hint of zen needed to make this meal on point. However, with only 1 cook, service was very slow. It took about :20mins to get our order, but she forgot the tea. So I asked mentioned to the waitress about the tea, she said I never ordered it. What?! When we stepped into This place, I asked if they had tea, and made the order. Ok. Fine, ordered a tea again. When it finally came, the tea was cold. Apparently, the waitress made the tea only with cold milk. What??!! And when I reminded her we wanted a hot tea with milk, she made the tea again, but this time with only hot milk. OMG!!!!! Is this her first time making tea? We told her this is taking way too long, and we have a train to catch, if we can just get a refund on the tea, she said "NO". Since we were running late, I did not argue with her further, and just left. This was my first time, and will be my last time ordering from the place. The service was HORRIBLE. The waitress wasn't very inviting from the beginning and it just got worse. She filled up our coffee once and once the food was delivered, she never came back. I had to work hard to get her attention to fill up my small glass of water. I finally just went up to the front to get the check and was trying to pay for it but the 4 people at the register were just arguing at each other with a calculator and paid no attention to me. I sat back down and fumed a little more. Finally I went back up and paid the bill and left $0 in tip. I've never been so annoyed at bad service as I was today. The walls are pretty gross and need a nice cleaning. The food here is okay which is the only reason they get 2 stars instead of 1. Definitely go to any other place for breakfast. read more

I really try to spend money at small neighborhood businesses and support them, however a full service restaurant WITHOUT a working bathroom for customers to wash their hands and use the toilet is 100% UNACCEPTABLE. I pull up the establishment on Yelp to check out the menu and decided on the Cuban sandwich and a Snapple. Had I ordered the items on grub hub or via Yelp, I would've saved $3. Now why is it that I was charged $2 more for the Cuban sandwich and $1 more for the Snapple? Had I been charged the correct amount I would've probably tipped $3. This is a review for the waffles. The waffles are huge but sadly they are not waffles. The staff assured me that the reason they take time to make is because they are made fresh. However the end result is actually pancake batter put in a waffle maker. The result is a dense dry not crispy waffle - To Ricky's please make waffles - you can find the recipe online - yes it takes time because you have to make meringue from the egg whites and you need to use more sugar but you won't get called out by the inspector... read more

Saturday morning, was finally able to check out this cafe after passing by it constantly. Typical diner/breakfast spot with your familiar fare of omelets, pancakes, and the like. Around 8:30am and still plenty of table space (though filled up fast about 10 minutes later). Decided on the Challah French Toast ($6.25), which comes with a cup of coffee and some juice. Coffee is fresh and unlimited. Orange juice came next, about the size of two shot glasses, but good enough. The french toast is four thick sliced halves of challah; a little burnt yet tasty with the butter/syrup that is served. Service started off well, then got less present after more patrons started pouring in. Overall the value here is very good, so want to give it another shot considering the extensive menu and location. read more

NOPE. NOPE. NOPE. The food BRINGS them up to 2 stars. The SERVICE was awful. I've never not left a tip and today the service was so bad that it warranted no tip. The front of the diner was kind of cute but the back table where we sat was filthy. The walls were covered in food and needed a serious wipe down. The floor was so greasy and slippery it felt like it hadn't been washed in weeks. The plastic ketchup bottle had been refilled so many times and the exterior was perhaps never cleaned, just disgusting it makes you wonder why they thinks it's ok to put this nasty bottle out on the table. I'm unsure how they have an "A" rating. The waitress was cold, and rude. Only bringing 2 cups of water for a table of 3 people. I asked sweetener for my coffee which never came so we needed to get up and go ask for it again, at which point she came and threw it on the table. This place has been here for as long as I have been in Jackson Heights. (almost 30 years) My father worked here in the late late 80s and I always just remember him being by the door on the side of the cafe with the really tall step that I was never able to climb as a child. The food here is regular diner food which is good because the only other diner that is decent is pretty far away (for my lazy ass). I saw a NY1 report that said that the owner is going back to culinary school to learn how to change up her menu. I think that is a great way to show that you want to keep your customers happy, and make new ones. I have always had a pleasant experience while being a patron at Ricky's and look forward to eating there again soon and seeing eventually what the new menu options have to offer. I have had regular BLT's, breakfast platters and they have always been delicious. I have not had any dinner specials here and I guess I will never call in my order after reading what other Yelpers said so far. read more

Overall good experience and food at the restaurant. The delivery option is a disaster. Food took 90mins to deliver. Food packaging was crushed. Food with sauce was packed with paper cover which spilled all over, created a mess and covered all other food and drinks. Took some time to clean everything before we can eat. I grew up with this cafe but I hope they realize that charging 13.95 for a avocado toast is just insane. Saturday morning staff is pleasant. Wouldn't recommend the delivery service. We absolutely love this place. I had originally passed it by for a while, figuring it was just a typical diner - but it is so much more. The QUALITY of the food is very high. Love it for breakfast and lunch. Great ingredients, fantastically prepared. And as a chef and frequent restaurant-goer, I have a high standard. And the service is so warm and friendly, it feels like friends. This kind of warm, wonderful place is so special.
