One chilly Saturday afternoon, I met up with a friend for brunch. Seated at table #13, had the nicest waitress with red retro glasses and we were seated in a booth made for like a Seinfeld plotline. The kind of place where you're served large humongous platters of food with condiments (jelly, sugar, and syrup). I had the jackson breakfast special which included waffles, scrambled eggs, toast, two sizeable sausages, a small amount of hash browns and unlimited coffee for around $18 as I write this review. While the atmosphere is bustling, and the aisles are tiny, the welcoming vibes can't be beat. The waffle was lightly sweetened and the toast was buttered but I really liked the sausage. A great place to catch up with an old friend that you haven't seen in ages and catch up over many cups of coffee. read more

Jackson House is a gem! Jackson house is a cozy diner with all the staples. I really enjoyed the vibe of an old diner and menu filled with any diner food you can want (with pictures of the dishes like a true diner lol). The service was super quick and friendly, despite being busy on a Sunday afternoon. The food was fresh and I was pleasantly surprised to see an impossible burger on the menu! My friend had the platter with 2 eggs, sausage, toast, and hash browns. She said they were delicious! Of note, egg dishes currently have an upcharge given current egg prices and the economy lol. I got the hot cup of coffee which is a classic. We ordered the following dishes to share: Jackson House Breakfast and the Bacon Cheeseburger with fries! Both of these dishes were perfect and I had no bad remarks! Jackson House Breakfast, we got scrambled eggs, breakfast sausage, home fries, challah french toast, and toast with butter on the side. Everything on this plate was so delicious especially the challah french toast - this was my favorite part! The challah french toast was so fluffy and flavorful in the middle and probably my favorite french toast ever! The breakfast sausage was very unique, it's the fat sausages. It has a nice crisp on the outside and meaty inside. Bacon Cheeseburger, this was a delicious burger! The burger patty had nice grilled marks on it and I loved the charred flavor. I have surprisingly never stepped inside this diner despite working only a couple of blocks from here. It is not the most nicest looking diner I have been to but the food speaks for itself. Our server was so lovely and attentive which made the breakfast experience great. She made sure we had all we needed and that our coffee was always filled. The western omelette was tasty and was a decent size. The home fries were seasoned well. I know these are basic breakfast items but they were very tasty. What really impressed me the most was the service and I would completely be returning for that reason. read more

Updated the below review, revised wording and expounded upon some of the content. After months of eating here practically daily, it comes with a heavy heart that I must find a new go-to restaurant. I really wanted to like this place, but too often the food isn't right. It might be that some of their cooks just aren't very good at cooking. The final straw came today when I ordered an omelette cooked soft. What I first received was an over cooked omelette with way too much cheese. I quickly pointed out my concerns and with the next omelette that arrived the waitress stated "here's a soft omelet". I sensed that something wasn't right and after a couple of bites I realized it was woefully undercooked, during my last bite when I could feel part of it drooling out of my mouth I had had enough. Did anyone come to ask how the food was, no. When I clearly wasn't eating any more, they asked if I wanted it to go and I indicated I did not, they again didn't bother to ask if I was happy with my meal. Instead I was charged full price for the rather disgusting food. I left there completely disappointed with an upset stomach. A few things about my overall experience: 1. the food quality is hit or miss 2. For several dishes, the amount they're cooked, their flavor, and the ingredients used aren't ideal, but by providing instructions they can usually make it right the next time. 3. I've only complained twice, the first time I tried to just eat the food but as I reached the halfway point I realized I couldn't stomach another bite. When I complained I was advised that I should have complained sooner. So the second time I complained, I quickly informed my waitress, but the experience was rather uncomfortable. I had to reinforce two or three times that the eggs are overcooked and then showed them on my phone a picture of what the omelette should look like (ironically, it was the omelette that was served to me during my previous visit) and the responses I received from them weren't positive - I expect better. Previous Review from three months ago: Five star review This place is fast becoming my go to American diner for all things diner related. This was my second visit and both times they did not disappoint. The first time they made me a delicious omelet that had fresh sliced avocados, cheese, and few other wonderful tasting items. On todays visit I had the Jackson House Combo platter and everything was very tasty. Both times I ordered coffee and they kept it topped off without having to ask (I never had an empty cup). I use to enjoy eating here.. i came in one day with my husband and I ordered a club sandwich with veggies, the waitress looked at me like I ordered something disgusting ( I ignored that). This sandwich is not on the menu but they usually accommodate with no problem. She said she would ask the kitchen if they can make it and let me know. I said that was fine since she had never taken my order. As im waiting I decide to ask her for orange juice she stayed quiet then bursted out laughing and said they didn't have orange juice so i kind of looked confused then she walked away and whispered something into another waiters ear and laughed. I was so confused.. idk if she was trying to be funny either way it came off as rude, awkward & was uncalled for. She then came back with the orange juice and told us they were unable to make my sandwich and acted as if she did not understand what we were asking for. The omelet could have been better, the vegetables were cut way too thick so they were warm on the outside and cold on the inside, and no seasoning at all. Home fries were seasoned well but once again fried crisp outside inside cold. Toast was perfect. I ate the eggs and toast because as I said I was starving but I was disappointed because I didn't think you could mess up an omelet order. The service was wonderful. I was immediately greeted, the waitresses were super friendly and attentive and noting my disappointment they tried to offer additional items but I wanted out. As soon as we sat down, they took our drink orders, then gave us the menus. After looking through the monstrosity of options, settled on the Open Steak Sandwich ($15.50), Short Stack of chocolate chip banana pancakes ($6), and a coffee ($2). Pancakes are moist from the bananas, plus just the right amount of chocolate chips that the syrup wasn't necessary. My steak sandwich was gigantic - with several tender cuts of beef places on top of tasted bread and served with fresh-cooked fries. Meat is cooked properly and I didn't need any extra sauce; was hoping for some cheese on top though it wasn't much of an issue. Fries are perfect, not overcooked at all. Love the service here as our waitress was extremely nice and they give out free coffee refills. Wish this spot stayed open later, though an easy pick for breakfast moving forward. read more

I just ordered delivery and it was delicious and a lot of food. The Reuben sandwich was really good and enough for two. They had 7-layer cake, which was fresh and outstanding. I was able to pay by credit card directly and delivery was very fast. I used to eat in the restaurant, and they were always friendly. Breakfasts are good, especially waffles, omelettes, and sausage. I have been eating here for more than ten years, and this place is a local gem. The diversity of Jackson Heights is often visible inside this restaurant. There is a steady crowd of regulars, most of them from the neighborhood. Most of the staff are fully bilingual in both Spanish and English. Sometimes there are large boisterous parties, and the occasionally ill-behaved children are just part of the flavor of the hood. The personable and funny waitresses, most of them middle-aged and Latinx, are an absolute delight. I can think specifically of Candi, Erika, and Rosa. If you come in a few times, they will get to know you quickly and know what your regular orders are. This place is very popular during peak times, primarily for Saturday and Sunday in the breakfast and brunch time frame; expect it to be crowded, and possibly even a short wait if you go at that time. . They maintain reasonable prices and serve consistently good food, focusing on New York-style diner staples and Greek dishes. The burgers, omelets, and sandwiches will not disappoint. Their house-roasted turkey is excellent and in fact, several of their turkey offerings, including the hot open turkey sandwich, are outstanding. Also outstanding is the cream of turkey soup, sadly available only on Sundays. And actually, all of their soups are consistently delicious, including chicken noodle, Yankee bean, lentil, and split pea on different days. Jackson House reminds me of the chain - Waffle House. As soon as you walk into this diner in the Jackson Heights area, you're smacked in the face with a very strong smell of waffles. YUM! The place also has an open kitchen - so you can watch them cook (which is a big plus for me!) Highlights of the meal include their veggie burgers, fries, and french toast. The spaghetti that comes along with it was your basic tomato sauce... Not horrible, but doesn't come close to my own. Portions are quite generous, I took most of my food home. Our waitress was very nice, I love it when everyone is efficient at their job. They took away our empty plates asap. Our coffee cups were filled just as fast. Great service. Hmmm...it's clean inside and also has a welcoming waitstaff. I don't need much at a diner, but I did find it pleasant in here. conveniently located across the street from my bother's apt is this diner that I often frequent when I'm in town. On my most recent visit I sat at one of the stools and ordered an egg white veggie omelet since I've been trying to be fake healthy. I also had a side of hashed browns and wheat toast. The portion size was huge and I stuffed myself by eating every bit off the plate. the gentleman behind the counter made sure my glass of water was always filled and even filled my glass one last time for the road as I was getting ready to stand up. That awning - so cool, with the Jahn's name on fire and the brick red fabric faded from time. The burgers must be soo good! They're okay. The burger at Jackson House - Now that's a good burger! Unfortunately for them, there is a big tree in front of the store. You won't see it unless you know exactly where it is. I was hearing about it for months but hadn't seen it until I made a point to find it. Their veggie burger was a revelation. It wasn't a mock burger, it was more like a vegetables mix formed into a pattie. Every bite is an individual, different textures and flavors. Takes a bit to get used to it actually. And it's huge, it overflows the bun without apologizing. This is a really interesting burger. Kitchen is right in the front, totally transparent. Walk in and it's hard not to start a conversation with the cooks. The waitresses are warm, I feel like they are they are proud of what they do, what they represent.
