    Italian Wrap
    Samantha C.

Being that I'm a girl who lived on Long Island for half of my life, I feel like I am somewhat of a diner aficionado. That being said, when our friend suggested Michael's I was excited to grab some late night eats at the amazing Michael's in Astoria. A quick nod to the host/server as he motioned for us to grab a booth. We quickly obliged. Four typical diner menus spread across the table and after a brief deliberation we decided on 3 wraps and a burger (coming soon to a theater near you). My wrap was the Italia wrap. Prosciutto, mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes and roasted peppers. The prosciutto was crispy which was delish. A few too many sun-dried tomatoes, but you can always take them out. Overall a good wrap. Fries were crisp and their honey mustard for dipping my fries was a good one. A pretty good unsweetened iced tea was also given to me in a to go cup upon my request. I knew I would need it for my ride home. Overall a solid spot for some late night snacking or comfort food. I'd come back for sure!

This is seriously a neighborhood gem! Angelo the owner is a wonderful man that treated my parents like family because this was their neighborhood go to dinner place. I grew up in Astoria now in Eastern Queens but do visit the area and came here twice last week and twice it was a hit! It is even better than it was before. The spinach pie I got was perfect!!!! The thing that hit the spot was my second visit when I ordered a Salmon dinner special with baked potato. I loved my potato and the skin was burnt a bit I love that. So glad I decided to come here and did not go somewhere else to eat as this was delicious. Do not be shy to ask them how to cook your proteins fish meat etc... they will gladly oblige. The coffee here is really good NY coffee! Really good vibe here they are open 24 hours! If you get Maria as your waitress you are in luck she is a doll! Angelo if you see this and your short a waitress please let my mom Yvonne know to contact me. It is such a good vibe I would love to help out. Will definitely visit if I am in Astoria again!

Great diner option in the area. Very friendly staff. It has a typical diner decor and feel inside with plenty of booths. You can not tell from the outside that it is a diner and probably why I passed it so many times. Nice photos in the wall showing areas of Astoria in the early 1900s versus the '90s. Went here twice recently for breakfast and food is pretty good. They have typical diner menu with about 6 pages of options, and prices are not bad. Will definitely revisit when in the area and in mood for a diner option.

Have walked by this place countless times. Nothing glamorous from the outside, and even inside looks dated. But this is family owned, owner sat us down. Orders were taken quickly, you could tell plenty of regulars here. Huge menu, never bodes well even for a diner. I decided to take a stab at the Roman pizza, we also got fried chicken, fries, sausage and eggs, chicken souvlaki platter. Wow that grilled chicken was so juicy, very flavorful. The potato from home fries amazing, so simple but good. My mom loved the chicken orzo. The fried chicken was average and pizza was interesting. So why didn't it get 5 stars? Mostly because this is the standard for diner food, and if this was in rural Kansas maybe but in Astoria NY, I think it's got to stand out.

Got the Roast LI Duckling, very well prepared and comes with a lot of food! Soup, potatoes, vegetable (carrot for me) and the stuffing with the Duckling was really sweet especially with the orange sauce! Also forgot to mention the bread -- butter at just the right almost melted temperature, and the bread was soft to my braces. Did I mention the cracker too? Perfect for dipping in the orange sauce and the soup. Lasted two days -- word of advice, when reheating duck, do it on the stovetop. Also, it won't come out as good the second day, so eat what you can the first time! Service was right on point, with everything from water to the right questions and good timing. My gripe and the loss of a star: I forgot to get my tea and dessert and didn't get reminded or asked. Granted, I'm better off without it and wanted a glass of milk at home anyway.

There's not a ton to say. It's a pretty solid diner. Our waitress seemed to fall out of a Neil Simon comedy and I actually loved it. The food was good. Solid dinner fare. I had a nice breakfast and didn't have a single complaint. If you're looking for a good diner, you found it!

I've posted pictures and the food is delicious but, the place is infested with ROACHES. I'm sooooo disappointed. The waiters are excellent and I wish them the best but, I can't dine where there are ROACHES AND WATERBUGS! Micheal-GET AN EXTERMINATOR ASAP OR ELSE.....

Nothing like a late night breakfast meal after a crazy cool Yelp event in Queens. So happy that they are still open 24/7! Sometimes you just want morning food at midnight when sporting a nice buzz.

DO NOT GO HERE! I am writing this review in tears after leaving here. I don't even know the older lady's name, as she approached my table with no care, just a bad vibe. Although I can say it is 2am, she rudely and I mean RUDELY belittled this elder homeless guy (whom I'm guessing always comes there as the entire waitstaff knew him) and I can honestly say it was HORRIBLE!!! It made me cry because no human on this earth should ever be spoken to as if they're not as valuable as the next! I don't care what anyone situation is I always treat everyone with respect! Another couple that sat across from me agreed as I was checking out and had a speech of how to treat people. About the food/service: DISGUSTING, I ordered 3 eggs w/ corn beef hash and it looked and tasted so terrible. NO ONE asked if I wanted a refill on my coffee, let me also mention the lady who was supposed to be my waitress NEVER CHECKED ON ME ONCE! Just avoid this place. Overall, just avoid this stupid place. Unethical, unprofessional, rude, and mediocre food (yes I'm aware it's a diner but I've had WAYYYYY better). If only someone had made it to my table in time I would've bought the guy some food but he was in a disarray leaving the restaurant, and I in fact didn't blame him as he cursed her nasty mouth out. And btw he let her speak and you could just see the hurt and embarrassment in this guys face. :(

It has a cozy interior with exposed brick and a sought-after outdoor garden area that is enclosed in the winter.  A few of their menu items include "Astoria's best burger" (using Pat LaFrieda beef), the Dirty Pickle Martini (featuring McClure's pickle juice), and beer-battered fried pickles. I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!

I'm a big fan of the jalapeño double cheeseburger, prepared (smartly) with sliced fresh jalapeños (as opposed to icky pickled jalaps). I prefer it without the sauce, but to each their own. One thing that makes 7th Street Burger so compelling in that they offer vegan burgers which taste just like the real thing. It's truly an impressive culinary feat, in addition to being a sane and sensible option both for non-meat eaters and customers simply seeking a healthier burger. I've eaten here several times but, in the interest of full disclosure, I did recently get a free meal as part of a Yelp event. Try out the new mobile app if you prefer to order ahead and earn some rewards as well. I recommend taking your order down the street to Judy & Punch where you can get a refreshing adult beverage to wash down your meal on the back patio. Summer is coming.

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

The fish was cooked to perfection, the cannelli beans I thought were going to be weird but it added a nice creaminess to the fish. This should be put on the regular menu. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=xNVfJCmf89OOY-1ME3FY7Q Controfiletto- grilled prime angus N.Y. strip steak served with roasted marble potatoes. I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce. This was good but came off a bit plain. The pasta was homemade but it was almost to a fault since the pasta came out too soft. The flavors were good but I felt this would have been a better, reheated the next day kind of dish.
