I ordered an Irish breakfast via uber eats. The food took over an hour to arrive. When I opened the dish it was like I ordered Irish beans soup. I couldn't eat any of it. I could not taste anything other than beans. When I called the store the guy who answered was very apologetic and said they were busy and went too heavy on the beans. He told me to contact uber eats for a refund. However; uber eats only gives $5 back because they just handle the delivery of the food. The condition of the food is the responsibility of the store. Beans should be put on the side for those of us who don't want a plate of beans with breakfast items thrown in. read more

The food here is honestly some of the best comforting meals I've ever had. Eveything from the Stew, shepherds pie, chicken pot pie, chicken curry - down to the sides and small snacks is amazing ! The jambons are buttery and flaky - I suggest the curry one- it's to die for ! Their turnip and mash is heavenly! They have changing daily dinner specials- call ahead and ask! They are kind on the phone and have even gone out of their way to replace something for me with a friendly note upon delivery ! Delicious Irish tea and some Irish goods to buy inside! Cold out today so I was looking for something to stick to ya ribs !! I had a to keep it healthy so I went with their grilled chicken with this delicious carrot smashed purée ... totally replaced the mash potatoes !!! Along with their sautéed broccoli & cauliflower, everything was super moist & very tasty !! Also had to get two pieces of their delicious Roast Pork with their brown gravy !! Really hit the spot !! If I was not dieting my would have had their Irish bangers, their 6 inch home made ham & cheese pies; their mash potatoes and a lil of everything that was in their steam table ... big selection !! Also looks like they import a lot of cookies; candies speciality / novelties from their country huge selection !! The servers were very polite & the store was super clean ... This review was solely based on my chicken & Roast Pork .... 5 stars, as my fellow yelpers know I can't throw out the 5th start without exploring the rest of their menu !!! We've passed by this place countless times, and I've always wondered what we would find in this cute little deli in that peculiar spot. I looked up some reviews and noticed they had a yummy-looking pork sausage roll that reminded me of something I loved as a kid, but could not find the equivalent of as an adult no matter where I looked. Oddly (but fortunately) enough, I finally came to try Shelly's sausage roll, and believe it or not, this Irish cafe's version has actually been THE closest to the Chinese pork roll I loved as a kid. I don't need to tell you how shocked I was to find that it was even better than the pork rolls I've had at many other Chinese bakeries. Shelly's sausage roll is flaky, served warm, and the sausage encased within is very flavorful, and pretty hefty. I have to thank the other yelpers that posted photos of it that drew me in. I am officially hooked, and will gladly become a regular just to sink my teeth into that savory pastry, which is priced just right (I believe it is under $3). They have another savory pastry called the "jambon" which is ham and cheese, which also sounds great, but I didn't try it on this trip. The deli also sells a ton of fun treats and goodies imported from Ireland and overseas. They have a lot of different snack items like chocolates, chips, cookies, crackers, breads, frozen meats, and pantry-safe sundries like sauce mixes, jams, and I even caught an Irish soda bread mix. They also have a hot bar with delicious-looking Irish entrees, and we learned that they have nightly dinner specials. They also have coffee and teas, and some interesting latte concoctions. For now, we just went in just for the pork rolls, and I picked up a few other drinks and snacks that caught my attention, but I'd gladly come back to try their hot foods. This Irish deli is a real gem of a place, and I love that it is something I have not really seen in the five boroughs, let alone Maspeth, Queens. Rounding up from a 3.5 here. I ordered lunch for St. Paddy's Day today. The food was good, but rounding up to a 4 because it's a pretty good value for the amount of food you get. I ordered the corned beef and cabbage with champ and a slice of the Shepards pie. The food certainly wasn't light, but I decided to indulge a little more since it was a holiday. I also got a side of the cole slaw. The corned beef was good, not too fatty. The champ was very rich and buttery. And the shepards pie was good, but the mashed potatoes were a bit drier on this one. The cole slaw was a bit too mayo-heavy for my taste, but that's personal preference. All in all, a pretty good meal! read more

The woman with clearly NO customer service experience lies through her teeth. I ordered a black pudding sandwich with home fries on a roll, and paid for extra black pudding since they wouldn't take my cc due to the $10min. There were 4 small-med black pudding pieces already made, everything was already made, only needed to be made into a sandwich. I'm waiting and waiting rather long for sth so bloody simple to make, so I approach the counter, she gives me a look like I said sth extremely dumb, "that was for another order, your black pudding is being made, they're made to order." Ok, that's a lie, they make them ahead of time and put them there with all the heated food, but whatever, I continue waiting. I get my order and leave and a little voice tells me, check the sandwich, sth isn't right. Sure enough, ONLY FOUR black pudding pieces in the sandwich, and they looked like the same black pudding pieces that were already there to begin with. Also, they weren't properly hot like freshly made black pudding so that's another giveaway. I go back to tell her what's happening and I get her stupid looks and her telling me that the black pudding sandwich only gets TWO pieces instead of four, a normal size roll with only 2 pieces, really? So the order before mine, yes, they were entitled to those 4 pieces, but I only get 2 plus the 2 she charged me extra??? The gall of these people. They come to this country with no prior customer service or food preparation experience and don't understand anything around running/managing a place properly, mainly treating customers well. I was furious - I told her, "we pay for your wages by consuming from this place and you are basically lying and robbing me. I've come here before, I'm no stranger to this place and I've gotten 4 pieces in the sandwich." She wasn't going to budge, her kind never does, and I left because it wasn't worth it. I should've left the food and gotten my money back. NEVER GOING BACK, I'm a NYer of several decades now and I know how it works in this city. They don't like you, you're ill served and they can even spit in your food. Avoid places with poor-to-no customer service. TLDR: NO customer service, can't be reasoned with; LIARS; greedy (you pay more, but get less); you want Irish fare? go somewhere else or cook it yourself. read more

Kindness and a cordial call goes a long way if you're gonna have an order that needs attention. I usually only order from grubhub and a few times my orders needed attention to the written instructions that the kitchen did not comply with. However, I called today and the lady who picked up was cordial, helpful and she ensured my grubhub order was properly made to order based on my written instructions. Since the vegan burger and fries here are really tasty, I imagine everything else is yummy too. They're consistently busy so I can see why the kitchen can mess up sometimes. Great neighborhood addition! Nice daily selection of hot entrees, they always have either Irish curry or Chinese curry available too. I ordered delivery from Shelly's the other day and was pretty impressed with the food. Delivery was late, but I live about 2 miles away, so I guess I should just be happy that I am in range. Anyway, I tried the Irish chicken burger and it was so good! You can tell that the chicken was good quality (along with the other ingredients, too). It was a HUGE sandwich. I cut it in half and made 2 dinners out of it. It came with fries and they were okay. I also ordered a caramel square, which was yummy too. Ordering for delivery seems to be a stressful experience at Shelly's. The girl who takes your order over the phone is rude and knows not a thing about customer service. Ordered a sandwich and took over an hour, had to call back & asked where it was. Finally delivered, the lady who delivered it said she was given the wrong phone number, sandwich was cold AF! Another terrible experience was when they got my order wrong. Food got delivered & it didn't come with the Irish sausage that I ordered. I called back and the lady kept insisting that it was put in the bag. So am I lying then???? After getting really upset over the phone, she said that they were going to deliver again. After waiting almost 40 mins for it, I called back AGAIN & she told me that they never put it on the route because they were not going to deliver just the Irish sausage & never bothered to tell me! It seem there is a recurring problem with ordering food. I placed an order 1 week before Christmas for delivery on Christmas eve, at 3pm they called to tell me they had run out of ham. One of the dinners was a ham dinner. There remedy was far from acceptable. They had been paid for the food a week in advance and could not fill the order. I think it is disgraceful, the girl was rude and very unhelpful. What a way to run a business. Shameful. Care for your pre_order costumers and make sure you fill their orders as ordered. read more

I ordered food from grubhub for delivery. The estimated time was 70 minutes but I ended up waiting about an hour and 50 minutes. The delivery man apologized and explained that they had a lot of orders earlier. I wasn't too upset because I was expecting to wait long because of previous reviews. I ordered the curry cheese fries, sausage rolls, and croissants. The curry cheese fries were amazing. Most of the curry had fallen to the bottom of the plate but you can just dip your fries in the curry. The sausage rolls were delicious. The pastry and flaky and delicious and the sausage was very tasty. I got one plain croissant and one Nutella croissant. The Nutella croissant was just a plain croissant cut open with Nutella spread on it. The croissants were good but obviously not the best I've ever had considering this isn't a bakery. I love this place so much. I can't believe that they deliver as far as me. I'm like 2 miles away from them. After a 65+ hour work week, when I don't want to leave my apartment, but I'm craving something hearty and delicious, Shelly's comes through. I order the full Irish breakfast, and it is exactly what I need. The food is good, period. Everything I have ever ordered has arrived hot, even with the distance, and is fresh and prepared so well. I also love that I can order Irish crisps and snacks from the grocery section on the menu. Yes I want chocolate digestives, thank you! For me, Shelly's has the most comforting of comfort foods, and it's my mission to make it there myself one day. For now, I am so grateful for their delivery service. 12/9/2017 Update: it's 8:30pm, I'm working on set overnight in Brooklyn with hours of filming to go, my husband is home sick in Queens, and he texts me asking for bread. There's no way. Then I remember Shelly's. I can order bread and butter and milk and a whole bunch of other delicious Irish grocery items delivered to him. Shelly's comes through again! And I usually run downstairs to get deliveries, but my husband had fallen asleep, so driver Eamon was awesome enough to take the delivery to our top floor apartment and leave it outside our door. My husband got his food and I'm now able to focus on work. Thank you Eamon for being awesome again, especially delivering in the snow. You're the best! This place used to be good, but in the past 2 years the staff has changed and unfortunately this place has gone downhill. Me and my mom went to get a dinner and we called before we came to ask what they had (they closed at 6 today). We got there at 5:30 and one of the chefs from the kitchen is starting to put all of the food away as we are looking to order. My mom tells him that we are going to get a dinner and he ignored her and continued to put away the mashed potatoes, vegetables, etc. Then when the girl was ready to take our order, there was nothing even out and they said it's because we close at 6. I got everything positive to report on my first visit. Shelly's is your old school neighborhood Irish food joint. I miss authentic places like this. Parked my flatbed tow truck right out front. *Plenty of parking*. The customer service is excellent, courteous, and responsive to all my inquiries. The food is the best part. I read previous reviews of long waits. All I have to say is quality fresh food, cooked to order on the spot takes longer than refrigerated pre-cooked food that is then reheated/microwaved. The food is good at Shelly's, but just Wednesday I ordered and it was officially my last time. My delivery took An hour and 25 mins to arrive, after an hour I called to check where it was, OSCAR the very rude guy who answered the phone told me it wasn't it problem it was the companies, so I asked to speak to the manger but he insisted Michelle was not there, he was so nasty and rude on the phone. Then when my order finally did arrive it was $42. I have the guy $60 and asked for $12 back, he told me he didn't have change, i said what would you like me to do and he threw the $20 back at me and said have a good day in a sarcastic manner! I have seen other people have the same issues I have. The staff is horrible. Their drivers rude. I would not recommend this place at all. Food is not even that good for them wanting to lose customers. That is not how you act or treat people. Guy refused to drive around, rather be lazy and not find parking and then make me go downstairs when I nicely said I was not able to at the moment, which I was not. Then he proceeded to oddly text me like I knew him. Guy was unreal. I again, nicely, said please just cancel as he was rude and I did not even want to order from them anymore. Guy sends me a rude text message. Then all the sudden mysteriously found parking and came upstairs anyway. They apparently do not know how to follow orders, which is why this place has horrible service. I WILL NEVER BE ORDERING FROM THERE AGAIN. Find other places guys, there are many places around the neighborhood that are awesome. Do not waste your time with these crazy people. OH let me not forget when he confronted my roommate and not me, he walked away and called him an as*hole or me. Either way, DISGRACE. Dude obviously has anger issues. We're from CA and came across Shelly's while going back to our hotel. Loved it!!! Great food and coffee. Prices and portions were great. We didn't feel like going out that night so we called them and had them deliver to us (free delivery). Fast and delicious again. Giving this place 1 star and that's for the parking as it really isn't good for anything else.Went here with some friends to enjoy some nice Irish food,what a disappointment.The place is cold empty and DIRTY the staff are not friendly and really don't seem to know what their doing. As for the food all I ordered was the chicken burger with coleslaw and garlic fries omg the burger was like rubber and the fries where way over cooked maybe because it took almost 50 mins to come out of the kitchen.My advice is don't go here unless you want bad food from a dirty cold deli. read more

This place is really a little gem in the neighborhood. We usually get our breakfast sandwiches (bacon, egg, cheese) on the weekends. Those are really good - sometimes we add a hashbrown or home fries to the sandwich for something different. Today, I ordered the chicken pesto panini, and it is delicious. What sets this place apart from other places, is that they cook the chicken to order so it's fresh and tender. I once ordered a grilled chicken sandwich in a restaurant which was horrible because the chicken was tough and dry and it was obvious that it had been sitting around all day. So, I appreciate the cooked to order of the food here. They also have a hot buffet with various selections for dinnertime. Mostly Irish/American fare. read more

Had a lovely breakfast here. Its a nice deli, great variety. The food is one of the best in Maspeth. The food comes out quick and hot! The scones are also amazing!
