I'm not huge on this type of bar. Not that I don't like them, it's just not my usual go-to. That said, I honestly look forward to coming here every single year. The staff is great, the beer selection is perfect and the food isn't just your typical bar offerings. Sure, you can get wings and mozz sticks, but even the salads are excellent. I can't say that I'd recommend the salad at most bars, but Connolly's is the exception. Ok, I didn't have the salad, but my wife did and she was impressed. Aside from all this, the ambiance is good, the vibe is good, and it's just comfortable. None of the usual busted chairs or sticky table tops. Although I don't live very close, it's a place I'd def recommend if you're in the area.

They cook their burgers exactly as requested: we had one medium & one well done with both cooked spot-on. They have a great selection of customization for their burgers. Both the fries & sweet potato fries were done right. Try the spice dusted shrimp & corn appetizer, it's out of this world! This time we tried the stuffed mushroom special, which was very good. Their salads are generously portioned, fresh & delicious. The blackened chicken is particularly great!

It reminds me a time in the neighborhood when Irish folks were the majority and when times were so much more simple. This pub is low key, rarely crowded, somewhat easy to miss, and extremely local. The place reminds me a ton of the Courtyard Ale House in Sunnyside, from the exterior to the darkly lit interior with an intimate bar setup. They too had an outdoor setup during the pandemic. The bartenders are friendly enough and the clientele is a lot of older folks that drink alone. There are some TVs, which are as small as the pub itself. The drink selection is pretty basic with some bottled beer and some limited taps. Whether it's a glass of Stella or a pint of Guinness, it's what most of the place is often drinking. There are some TVs playing sports and no food that I'm aware of. The plus side is that the drinks are going to be affordable and there is vibe is the least pretentious in the area. If one is looking for a simple ambiance with a little sports and a lot of local vibes, The Dugout completely fits the bill. Indulge in the personalities and have a pint while playing something from their jukebox. If one is lucky, it might just be on a night where there's a little live music.

This Irish pub seamlessly blends old-world charm with a welcoming vibe that makes it feel like home from the very first step inside. Whether you're a local or a first-time visitor, there's something undeniably special about this place that keeps you coming back. First, let's talk about the Guinness. If there's one thing McGuiness does right, it's pouring a perfect pint. Each glass is poured at the perfect temperature, with that signature cascade that transforms the beer into an art form. It's the kind of pour that Guinness enthusiasts live for. The rich, creamy head that rests atop the dark liquid is a mark of excellence that sets McGuiness apart. But McGuiness isn't just about beer - their Irish coffee is an absolute standout. Every cup is brewed with care, delivering the perfect balance of whiskey, freshly brewed coffee, and just the right amount of cream. Honestly, if I had to rate it, I'd say a 9.9 out of 10 - it's that good. The slight edge away from perfection is just my way of staying humble, but believe me, this is the best Irish coffee you'll find in town. What makes McGuiness truly exceptional is the service. During the day, Kieran is the man behind the bar, offering friendly conversation and expert knowledge about every drink on the menu. By night, Nile takes over, continuing the tradition of impeccable service while bringing his own energy to the space. Both bartenders know how to make you feel like you've been a regular for years, with just the right blend of warmth, humor, and genuine care. The atmosphere is cozy, quaint, and perfectly suited for everything from a quiet pint to a lively evening with friends. It has the kind of intimate saloon-style charm that makes it easy to relax, whether you're the only one at the bar or surrounded by a lively crowd. McGuiness manages to strike that rare balance where you feel like you're part of something special, whether you're a local or a newcomer. Whether it's a laid-back Tuesday afternoon or a packed Saturday night, McGuiness consistently delivers on quality, service, and atmosphere. There's no pretense here - just authentic Irish hospitality that makes every visit feel like a cherished moment. For anyone seeking an authentic Irish pub experience in New York City, McGuiness Bar is an absolute must. A perfect pint of Guinness, unbeatable Irish coffee, and an atmosphere that makes everyone feel like family - it doesn't get much better than this. Perfect For: * Irish coffee lovers * Guinness aficionados * A cozy night out with friends * Local regulars and first-time visitors alike Final Verdict: If you're in Sunnyside, McGuiness Bar is your spot. It's where tradition meets community, and where every pint and every conversation feels like part of something bigger. A true hidden gem in Queens.

I've been to Donovan's, Sean Og's, and a smattering of other Irish pubs across town - and I've enjoyed them all. This place is the one that served me the single best-tasting Guinness I've enjoyed in NYC, anywhere. Came in for St. Paddy's and there were clearly a lot of regulars piled up at the bar and around me, but I didn't feel unwelcome for a second. Hyper-busy staff but good at what they do. Plenty of Soccer games on all the screens around to enjoy, if you come alone and want something to do while sipping your drink. Happy to come again, next time I have a hankering for a good Guinness.
