I find Claras to be a solid neighborhood bar. It's never too crowded/rowdy, it's not too expensive, and the food is good. On Monday and Tuesday they have some food specials for wings and burgers as well as draft specials. It's a chill spot to watch a game with some pals or alone and have a drink or two. I have liked everything I've tried off the food menu here which includes wings, mac and cheese, as well as the burger. They have a pool table in the back area as well as a shelf with a bunch of games too! Bartenders are always great too. read more

Clara's is a solid local option if you're looking for a bar to watch a game. I recently visited Clara's for dinner, and was a little underwhelmed by their fried chicken sandwich. The original sandwich has just chicken, a couple pickles, and a bun, so I though it was missing some sauce or coleslaw that would have made the sandwich much better. The fries were ok. They seemed short staffed the day I visited, but nonetheless service was friendly. I would come back to watch sports or to meet up with friends for a drink before going out in Bushwick, but would try some of their other options for food or eat elsewhere. read more

The service here is truly immaculate. Went last night to play pool with some friends, and the pool cues were missing tips. Doesn't bother me, I'm used to playing with bad sticks at dive bars. A bartender (I believe named Sophie) questioned us while we were looking at the pool cues and sent someone to the basement to get us brand new sticks. Didn't even ask for it. Another bartender, Quinn, was absolutely on top of the drink orders, rarely needed to go to the bar - a rarity at dives. Solid staff, fun joint, cheap drinks, 10/10 recommend. read more

I had a great time at Clara's when I went to watch the ncaa women's final. I've been there before for other events in the past and it's always a great vibe, the staff is great and always get good service. I've only ever had the wings there but my friend got the burger last time and said it was great! This place has pretty good bar food! We shared some wings and fries, I have zero complaints. The wings were meaty and the fries were golden. They don't have much beer on tap though and they weren't really able to make any cocktails cause they ran out of mint at 8pm...but I was able to hear conversation. It wasn't too loud. read more

I've been coming to this bar a lot recently to watch Michigan sports (Go Blue!) and there's a reason that this has become my home base for the games. The food is excellent. I'd recommend the fried pickles, Buffalo Mac and cheese, and the deviled eggs. Most recently I watched the Wolverines dominate and felt extremely welcomed by the owner which isn't something you see every day! I was waiting for a large group to arrive and secured a couch in the front and he even helped me arrange furniture so I could have a seat for everyone. I was seated for a minute waiting for friends so I could go grab a drink but he ended up bringing me a beer and was beyond nice even on a busy big game night. If customer service isn't your strong suit, you shouldn't be in this business. It's not hard to admit your own mistakes. Try losing the attitude and writing down your orders if it's so hard for you to remember them. One of my friends ordered wings and they didn't come out for about 10 minutes, so he reminded one of your servers and he brought them out. Then the owner brought another order out. So before you go and say "hope you enjoyed the free wings your friends took home," don't forget that you tried to charge us for those, gave me attitude about it at checkout, and merely sent them home with us so you didn't have to throw them away. This, however, does not excuse the attitude and poor customer service you provided during our entire visit. Secondly, I didn't get a chance to read your entire first response to my google review, but I'll leave a screenshot of what I was able to see. In response to that response, yeah, of course I ate the wings because I paid $33 for them. And thirdly, I will happily NOT be leaving the city, I think I'll stay in Astoria where the food and service is actually good. Truly, popeye's wings are better than what you're serving, but I think I'll take my money to wingstop before I do Clara's for wings. I ordered Buffalo wings and they were so dry with very little sauce and the blue cheese dressing that came w it was a really weird translucent milk-slime consistency (much like a certain bodily fluid). It's the worst blue cheese dressing I've ever had and maybe I'm harping on that too much, but the wings are a vehicle to dressing for me so it's v important ;) That aside, the Nashville hot chicken sandwich and the fries were really good. Those are a 5, but the wings are a big fat zero. Would definitely eat that sandwich over and over again, but be warned it's pretty spicy if you're sensitive to that. I'm sure the reg chicken sandwich is prob pretty good too though! Rating really depends on what you're ordering based on my experience and other reviews. The food is pretty good I never had an issue, I do however feel like the buffalo wings could be a little more saucy they can be a bit dry for my taste but overall I'd still recommend especially because I think the burgers and fries are great. It's a little pricey but considering the economy I don't think it's too bad.
