Kind of had the worst drink selections of any bar I have been to in a long time. It was all mediocre macrobrews, and the cocktails were not good. On the other hand, I loved the burger shack, and thought the prices were very reasonable. Fries and burgers were awesome and good portions. PS-went in to watch the world series. Was lucky enough to make it to their happy hour recently with a couple of friends! It's 5-7 on weekdays, $6 drafts, $7 wells, $10 wines. They have a good cocktail selection too, but its not on happy hour (they $15-17 if i remember correctly?). Playlist was great, a lot of pop punk/2000s emo so it was great to relive the classics. Pretty spacious front area of the bar, and there is a back room where people can hold events. It also seems like they host things regularly - I was intrigued by the crafting Friday's, and would love to come back for one! They also have a food pop up from Strange Flavor which serves burgers and such if you're feeling hungry. Cool spot with a great vibe! Will definitely be back. read more

My partner and I decided to check out Crystal Lake for HH and we both very much enjoyed the vibe, drinks, and bites! If you couldn't tell by the name, it is a Friday the 13th / horror themed bar (lots of fun decor), and it has some pretty great HH deals ($6 drafts for most of their beers, etc.). The service is very friendly too - we felt very welcomed there and the bartender was patient as we were deciding what to order. I ended up grabbing a beer and shot ($8) and my partner got an espresso & pb whiskey based cocktail (on regular cocktail menu), and both did the job! We were a little chompy, so ended up ordering some food from bichn kitchn (the biz that runs their kitchen), and really enjoyed our Mac n cheese bites (10/10 would order again)! Crystal Lake Bar was a place that I was invited to many times when people threw parties there. After all this time I finally got the chance to go there, my first and last impression of the place was very positive. Nice large bar on Grand St, Nice size front area added to that a large back area as well. Very friendly bartender and one of the owners that was there was one of the nicest and coolest people. I was going for a friend's birthday party and she had a Karaoke DJ.. Everyone who came was welcomed as they ventured to the back of the bar.. Drinks were reasonable I think I bought over $200 worth of drink's for friends and was offered a buy back a few times. With one of the best owners around (he has some partners whom I never met) But he and his courteous staff made me a believer in this place. Will 100% be there again. read more

Came here a few weekends ago after having dinner with a friend across the street. I am a horror nerd so I've always wanted to come here. I loved it and had a great time. Unfortunately, we came on a night when they were having a party in the back. Music was blasting so we could barely hear ourselves in conversation. Had to shout for most of the night. It's a classy horror-themed bar if that even makes any sense. Not an abundance of tacky horror memorabilia. Just enough. Some posters, Freddy masks, a super cool portrait of the owner of the bar with his family, etc. A good amount of seating. They have a self-serve water fountain. Awesome cocktail list. The best part for me was the bar eats. They have a nice little menu. The BEST thing on there is the Queso Frito bites with Guava sauce. Holy crap!!! These things are like crack. So addicting. I even had to tell one of the bartenders about my mouth's joy. I'm taking away 1 star because the patrons of the party in the back if they wanted a drink, had to come to the bar itself to get it which made for crazy line-ups and service dragging. Crystal Lake is cocktail bar on a strip of Grand St that has a surprising number of bars. They have a pretty extensive menu of beer and cocktails, though don't trust their QR code menu, because it's all very outdated. Our bartender told us that multiple cocktails were unavailable due to lack of ingredients. And she had to look up how to make most of the ones we ordered. I assume she's new. That said, the space is nice. Good vibes all around. Great art on the walls, and cool bathrooms. read more

I would call this more of a dive bar than a cocktail bar, but still a decent place for a drink. They were out of multiple cocktails when I visited (lots of missing ingredients), so stick with well drinks or beer. They do have a huge draft / can list, as well as several hard seltzer / cider / wine spritzer options. The bar itself is very large and there is plenty of seating. My partner and I rented the backroom of Crystal Lake Brooklyn to host a welcoming party the night before our wedding. It was a perfect space for us and our 75 guests. The staff were all an absolute pleasure to work with and made sure we had everything we needed. The reasonable rental fee and food/drink minimum made this place an incredible deal, especially for Williamsburg which can be very pricy. I love the authentic old New York feel. I mostly drink wine which they have both on tap and in the bottle. . Great atmosphere and really friendly bartender. They open the windows in the summer so it's a great place for people watching and there is never a shortage of characters in Williamsburg. Rebecca was our Bartender. She was great. That was ok.... We heard great things about the backroom but that was occupied with a comedy show. So we sat at the bar in the large open front room. The bar baseball team showed up and looks like a cool team. The drinks were fine and strong. But the space is far from cosy. Huge space!!! Seriously the biggest space on Grand Street. The ambiance is great for birthday parties or even a relaxed date. There is a real charm to this place. The staff is welcoming and they stay open till 4am everyday! This is a must go if you're in East Williamsburg. They are always having open events like comedy shows, art shows, trivia and movie nights. The 10ft projector in the backroom is pretty boss. Excited for the World cup finals this weekend. For a cocktail bar, this place does not make a good Old Fashioned. Maybe this isn't the place for that, but the bartenders were at least willing to throw one together and friendly. Stick with very simple cocktails. I'm not sure what's in this Old Fashioned, but it's very red and mostly just bitter with a low quality liquor taste. Not undrinkable, just... not good. Almost tastes like what a sports bar would make if you asked for an Old Fashioned at one. I'm sure the beer is okay. read more

Love this place. I recommend stopping by on a weeknight: If you sit at the bar it's almost a guarantee you'll end up having a fun conversation with the bartenders or friendly regulars. If you sit at the window or tables it's perfect for relaxing or having close conversations with friends. I got a little worried when I first sat down at the bar in Crystal Lake: What is this voodoo? Friendly bartender, friendly owners? Did I get drugged and end up in Wisconsin? No, but I did make sure I had my wallet, phone, and organs. Clientele, staff, and owners have been absolutely great every time I've been to Crystal Lake. A rebooted older bar with a good beer selection and a heavy pour on the booze. Its a definite destination when I have to drink away my fat man blues. Suitable for those local and gentrifier, it's a no attitude bar. Which is getting harder to find locally. read more
