I got the caufields dream and two pilars. Both so good ! The pilar was so savoury! My friend says his patty melt was "so good" with some real gusto in his voice. And he's not one for compliments. The atmosphere is what really seals the deal. It has that je ne sais quoi. I might end up coming here every time I visit New York.

Some amazing cocktails - check Great food - check A Backyard for summer drinks - check Wonderful people - check Bushwick vibe - check One thing that keeps it from being 5 stars - check** **The Narrows has by far the worst bar stools in all of Brooklyn. Yup I said it. Now they are pretty, they look wonderful with the backdrop of the space, but they are so so wrong. Well unless you are over 6'4 in which case you might be ok with them. They have no backs, are super high and have no footrests. Even my tall man friend had his legs dangling like a 3-years old. They have a slight dip in them as well. You can't adjust how you sit what so ever.... like I said worst bar stools in Brooklyn. So for that they lose a star, that's seriously how terrible they are.

This bar sucks. The music is quiet. The bartenders cater to their friends. They are rude. Very unwelcoming.

Old school, roughly elegant. These people are genuine, pleasant and polite hosts. Unique vintage movie like bar experience!

The ceviche was probably the best ceviche I've ever had in my life. It was blood orange based, but the citrus was really well balanced. The king oyster mushroom dish was soo delicious. The sauce and the texture of the mushrooms were to die for. I've salivating thinking about them right now! The fish was also so amazing. The bottoms were so crispy, it was almost like it was a layer of potato chip! Really great texture, and the fish meat was cooked to perfection. Really sad that they're closing, but looking forward to whatever the chef/restaurant team does next!

It's a beautifully designed space, and we went in the evening so it was dimly lit and had good tunes, contributing to an intimate and cool vibe. The service throughout was good both by our primary server and the rest of the team that was bringing out dishes. For the food, we did not feel that it was a strong start, but the ending was great! The first dish to come out was their cornbread, which we agreed was very light and had a super tender texture, but there was just nothing special about the taste profile to us. The second dish were their prawns. We couldn't put our finger on the off-putting flavor in there, but we agreed that something just wasn't right and almost tasted spoiled. You also had to work a bit to dissect the prawns and remove the heads and skin. To work for it and then not enjoy the taste wasn't a great combo for us, unfortunately. It started turning around with their sweet potatoes, a type I'd never had before that were "baby" and purple on the outside while white inside. They served the potatoes with a gorgeously whipped Greek yogurt that added the exact right amount of tang to balance the sweet potato and the herby topping. The stars of the night were the coconut basmati rice and the lamb shank. My goodness! The rice dish was so complex from a flavor and texture profile and just hit all the right notes for us, and that lamb! Definitely one of the best lamb dishes I've had - Impossibly tender and seasoned to perfection. One other note I'll make regarding drinks is that they did not have a strong wine list. I ended up ordering a red, but later heard our waiter recommend against getting their wine to another table and suggesting their cocktails and mocktails instead. Just something to keep in mind if you're a wine lover!

Without us asking, he brought over extra bread to accompany our lamb tartare. He also gave us complimentary espresso martini shots when we were too full for dessert. We ordered the lamb tartare, French Onion soup, and burger. The lamb tartare was great (especially combined with the salt flakes and sauce, which brought out the lamb flavor in a light way). The French Onion soup was flavorful but light, and the burger (European style) and fries were delicious. The cocktails were interesting. We'd love to come back and try the mussels and creme brulee!

The tables are closely packed, there were fresh flowers at every table, and the floor has a fun black and white pattern. I tried the old fashioned Recette to drink, and the kale and Brussels salad. The old fashioned had a phenomenal blend of flavors. The salad was maybe a bit heavy on the dressing, but the flavors complemented each other well. The portion is small though. Overall, I had a great experience at Recette and would highly recommend them for a light brunch in Brooklyn.

The smaller bites are the best. Yellowfin Tuna has so many flavors to complement, Sugar Snap Peas really sing in their sesame sauce, and the Surf Clam Skewers are just so cool. I like the Sablefish less - I think it belongs on bread, but I did enjoy the Seafood Rice. Very flavorful in a quieter, more subtle way. The Blue Crab was just heaven, soft-boiled egg, chunks of crab in chili. Use the baguette to soak up every single drop. You must order the Pavlova. It is flawless. The Panna Cotta is also interesting, with pickled cherry blossoms both floral and tart. I got up at 4 AM to get this reservation, and I WILL do it again next time, every time I am in New York.

I think that would've been good, but we ended up getting 4 which was fine as well. We started with the yellowfin tuna and gnocco fritto, which was delicious, but maybe my least favorite bite. We then got the seafood rice, which was probably my favorite. It was a good size, and very creamy. It had an herby seafood topping which was delicious. After that we got the blue crab and soft boiled egg, which came with a baguette. It was super flavorful and the baguette was fresh. We ended with the muscovy duck breast, which was delicious, but a tad tough. Service was great. She was super attentive. Dishes came out one at a time, which I liked because it gave us enough time to enjoy each dish. Their menu rotates weekly, so if I lived around here, I could see myself coming sometimes to try other items. It is definitely on the pricier side, but very good food! I would come back again!
