Had a drink here on a Sunday night. It looks like they have a healthy amount of people who go there just for whatever game is on TV and to play pool. People were chatty and the bartender seemed cool which is always nice. Facilities were nice and clean. Only thing I'm knocking it for was that one of their bartenders, when asked to make a drink on their menu said he couldn't do it and only the other guy could? Weird. read more

Two types of Mezcal are available here and that alone wins some points. The covered, outdoor oasis that is their back patio ranges from a fun place with friends featuring a catwalk to an intimate nighttime nook to have private conversations. The drinks were amazing! Do check out the specials board prior to ordering! I was so stoked to see that the lead mixologist, Mike, was a true mastermind. Ask him for a margarita or a mint julep or a dirty martini or a mojito or an old fashioned and he got it down without missing a beat. Happy hour prices are phenomenal but non happy hour prices will make you happy too. I wasn't thrilled about the food but it met the requirements of being hot, available and enough for sharing. We tried the calamari, mozzarella sticks, fries, boneless chicken, and mac n cheese. I tried to order the mushroom bites but they were sold out. The boneless wings had a weird consistency so I'd skip that next time. The mozzarella sticks are actually egg roll wrappers stuffed with cheese which was a mood killer for me. (Why would you mess up a perfectly good thing like a hot, gooey cheese pull? But I digress.) Beware that there is only one bathroom and while it does the job, it could be better and cleaner. Overall, Talon is a great choice for outdoor enjoyment-- especially during COVID-19-- although the inside area sets the mood so don't be shy and check it out! Came here on a Saturday night in a group of 4 around 10pm and had no trouble getting a table out back. (It did fill up pretty quickly after that.) I absolutely loved the vibe of the backyard area: Open spacing, tons of foliage, and big doors to the interior that make it feel like one big space. I came to this spot on the weekend hoping to enjoy a few drinks and relax after a stressful work week. But the staff was so rude and unnerving I could not enjoy my time there! Right before I left, there was a tussle with patrons that were hired for entertainment in the basement downstairs...I believe it was for a fundraiser on abortion rights. The way staff and manager treated the guests were very unprofessionally and unnecessarily escalated the situation. They even called the cops! Calling the cops on your own bar is ridiculous. We came on yesterday on Wednesday right after my bestfriends funeral. The bartender was rude and was annoyed when we asked for a drink menu and when we was ready to order drinks he ignored us and kept asking other people what would they like, meanwhile we kept waiting and the way he made the drinks was like shit, the cups was mostly ice and barely any drink in there. As a bartender these guys looked like amateurs. P.S. it was better a year ago, when I came by a couple times when the drinks were better. You guys need better bartenders. read more

Reliable local bar. Not quite a dive bar but it has a very chill ambiance. I come here with my friends for casual drinks. The bartenders are very nice and I love a burger with a drink. Downstairs can be a miss so I recommend staying upstairs, especially since the garden/backyard is open when it's warm. read more

Pretty good ambiance and the space is great overall but bar staff is very mehhh.. I'm a bartender myself and never try to give bartenders a hard time by ordering complicated cocktails, especially if it's busy but some of the people I was with wanted to try some of the drinks that were clearly and conspicuously written on boards right at the bar.. and the bartenders seemed very annoyed by this and even caught an attitude with my friend.. (who isn't industry and innocently didn't understand the problem). I understand that it's annoying when it's busy, trust me I really do.. but maybe take down the cocktail signs and make some fast paced friendly drinks for people that don't just want just a beer or a vodka soda? We went here on a rainy day in search of a happy hour retreat post a long and tiring workday.it's very much a goth plus nature vibe. Kinda weird but it somehow works. They serve food until 1am and the drinks are delicious and we'll made. It can get crowded but it's a solid bar option with enough people watching, clean bathrooms and music that allows you to hear others speak. Definitely a favorite spot of mine on Bushwick. read more

Talon is the perfect example of a place that you have to go a couple times to get it's true essence. My first encounter was a pop in for a beer. Everyone was indifferent towards non regulars. Perhaps it was too new or perhaps it was weird early in the week. Wellll everything changed the recent time I came. My friend was visiting from Philly and I convinced her to go with me to a goth dj night being held there. After some arm twisting we arrived. One of my fave goth 80's dj, Andi was in the line up and I didn't want to miss her. We made it just in time. And this time we were into the basement. Walking down the steps you see a bar and people jam packed around it. I kept walking down to see the other space and surely there was the best little goth dance nook ever. I loved the red low lighting and the right amount of smoke machine. The DJ's were all great and had their own unique goth sounds. Some leaned in the rare goth, some more 90's goth and some more popular "you know all the lyrics" goth! I was truly in heaven or hell or a little of both. At midnight there was a special burlesque performance done to some Waits tunes. She truly brought some elegance and grace to the show. It was a great break between sets. And you could also see the cave we were in better. It appeared to be more of a living room. My friend's wanted to get a smoke. The bar has a giant patio with tons of seats and tables. There was tons of people. I even bumped into a couple more friends. As some of my other friends had to leave the other friends had just arrived. I had to introduce them to the dark cave. And when I went to the bar for a refresher I was happy to see a familiar face, Aida. This evening converted me into a Talon fan! Keep it gothy! read more

I went for a goth night event in the downstairs space and came away very impressed with the decor and ambiance. Properly dark save the bar lighting, which could be changed from white to blue or red. But all in all a cozy space with a lot of character. read more

Cute, two story bar with nice decor and ambiance and plenty of personality. Atmosphere is welcoming to all with a diverse staff, and I appreciate the diversity of events booked here, including goth, LGBTQ+ and alternative friendly nightlife. It's great to see indie venues supporting truly supporting grassroots community efforts. The outdoor patio is especially fun in the summer, and interior has booths as well as a cozy downstairs with an exposed brick wall, which is enjoyable year-round. They offer drinks to appease a variety of palettes: fancy cocktails, simple/well drinks, on tap beer and cider at reasonable prices. My first visit here reminded me of some of my favorite spots in Berlin: worth a visit! read more

This place would have received 5 stars from me before the end of our night.. The burger and pizza were very good, and the drink and food prices were very reasonable. Loved the ambiance (even with the rat problem in the neighborhood)... But the reason this gets 2 stars is because the bartender came to our table and asked us to leave while we still had drinks that we were finishing, and after having spend $100 at that point. The explanation was that they needed to make room for more people. Note to Talon - don't disrespect the patrons you already have, by asking them to leave before they're done enjoying the drinks they paid you for. read more

I gave it one star because i dont have the option for a non star, the place ambient is nice but they only have one bartender and as he told me he was alone no servers or busboy ( which is bad because the place was completely open and he was overwhelmed). ( bad point for the. Managment or owner. The bartender inform us if we find a table we can sit down and we should order with him at the bar which we did but with another person and then this guy approached to us informing us the burger was sold out so we should pick another option ( he recommend us the chicken sandwich ) and i told him i will check the menu and i will go back to the bar and tell him what i want. Once i told him my order he came back with the check telling me the prices for the pizza and the burger was the same so they wont reverse the credit card transaction and i told him the price was lower so he took the check away. The bartender approach to the table telling us with a tone he wont change the card authorization and he took 5 dollars of your tip to give us the difference. Which it was rude and i asked him to cancel the food and then he offered us drinks to dont leave and dont cancel the food. We stayed but 30 min later they turned off our heated lamp which it was inappropriate because we were in the patio and ITS WINTER SEASON.( the other lamps were on and the bartender were sitting with his friends on a table). We saw a rat going thru the patio( but its the patio and its open to the street ). My point is the place is very big to be managed just with a bartender no managment service terrible food meh . This place is extremely disappointing. The food is not tasty. Let me rephrase; the food is so salty to the point that it is inedible. Starting with the octopus. It's advertised with Kale but I received mine with arugula (totally different flavor profile and texture), the beans looks like the had been cooked overnight with a bucket full of salt and then just transferred to the plate, and the octopus itself was so chewy and didn't taste fresh. My friend ordered a medium rare burger without cheese and fries. She received a well done burger with cheese and salt sticks... I mean fries. Another thing, I've been to bars where the staff drinks and what not but I've never been to a place where the bartender is "more lit" than everyone she's serving. To each their own but I won't be returning. *Emily, this is not a fake review. I went there for my sister's going away dinner and experienced all this first hand as a customer. Place has really cool decor and ambiance -- probably the best I've seen in this neighborhood. Discrete dead animals all over the place, artistically and strategically placed in tasteful hipster fashion. Also, the space is HUGE so really good for big groups without experiencing the crowded woes of Manhattan or Williamsburg bars. The drinks here are very standard and so is the food. Don't come expecting fancy speakeasy cocktails. Just standard full bar spirits and beer. The service here needs work. Bartender was very forgetful but REALLY really nice. Also, getting a drink took forever even though the place was pretty empty. I really hope this place is able to keep their momentum running and fine tune their service. I love this place and was super disappointed when one of their bartenders had the worst attitude I've seen in a while - white girl with short blonde hair and tattoos - asked her if they had a specific kind of drink and she told me to go somewhere else if that's what I was looking for... with a completely straight face. This LGBT friendly bar is a GOD send during the new way we live due to this pandemic. They have a daily happy hour from 4pm to 7pm and they also have a good selection of food to choose from as you have to order food with your 1st drink. Cuomos orders. They have a shot beer combo drinks and other inexpensive off the happy hour menu items that dont break the bank. I like this place if I want to be alone and feel like I'm in a jungle due to the outside patio having a safari feel. It's cute for a date night too!! Love this place. All stars read more

I went to Talon when it first opened, a couple of times after that and even celebrated my birthday there earlier this year. All those experiences were good and some even great, but I went on Monday, July 3rd and it was some of the worst service I've ever experienced. The bar wasn't overwhelmed so I went to place an order at the bar and it took me 12 mins to get the bartender's attention. And no it wasn't busy, because he was taking the orders of people who came after me. There were two bartenders covering the entire bar which was enough for the amount of people there. When I put my order in he didn't seem too pleased, and when the people who ordered after me also made requests he still didn't seem approachable. Now it might be that this bartender wasn't experienced because he seemed to lack vision when it came to covering his section of the bar and he also kept putting ice into a drink after he poured the cocktail. If that is the case then I hope management works with him. Especially explain to him not to take someone else's order when you haven't finished taking the one you are currently taking. I understand if the person had an open tab and all you had to do was acknowledge they wanted the same drink, but this bartender stopped taking my order to take their card. I also ordered food which was good, but I had to go down to the kitchen to get utensils because they failed to bring me any and again I couldn't get the bartenders attention. I've gone to Talon when it was good and the space is great, so I really hope they train their employees better going forward, because it can be a stand out place in Bushwick. read more

staff pulled the literal plug on a respected dj in the middle of their set (around 2:20-2:25am for a set meant to end at 3am) as the dancefloor was full. a conflict arose-- the staff were aggressive with the dj and with others associated during this function to raise funds for reproductive rights run by the LQBGT+ community, all because they apparently weren't making enough money at the bar to honor their agreement to end at 3. poor communication ahead of time, poor conflict mgmt, bad vibes overall 0/5 do not recommend coming here read more

They serve visibly intoxicated folks despite law enforcing otherwise. Downstairs bar clearly does not communicate with upstairs bar because folks can get denied service downstairs yet still be served upstairs. Management needs to step its game up by actually having a bouncer if clearly intoxicated folks are going to be served or sit around the bar. read more
