Went their last night because one of the cooks "Chris" invites us to stop in to try the food and check the place out. We were really excited because the food seems very good and the inside as well. Unfortunately I will not be able to review that because we were stopped at the door and not allowed to enter without paying $20. Even though we specified we were their just to eat after working 10 hours and being very hungry. I could care less about the super duper hipster even taking place. I couldn't be any less interested in hanging around a crowd of hipsters. But I guess they expected us to pay $60 for me and my s/o and co worker to sit down for 30 min and eat a burger and leave. Hopefully I'll be able to go back and actually enjoy a meal without some damn hipster asking me for money before I can even see the inside of the building. To be honest I am hesitant to even return cause I usually work till 9:30/10pm so I'm willing to bet the next time I attempt to simply go their to get a bite to eat there will be an even happening that will require me to pay just to get through the door. It really sucks cause it's 2 blocks from my job and I most likely would have frequented the place if it wasn't for this lovely first impression. The staff here CALLED THE COPS on their own patrons. they have no respect for artists they invite to their space, they shut down an abortion fundraiser event bc they weren't making enough money at the bar even though the dance floor was full. seems like they like to prey on and take advantage of the QTPOC community for $$ and visibility but are willing to dispose of us just as quickly. The security is not properly trained to de-escalate situations, one of them grabbed someone around the collar during a heated moment and violently pushed them to the edge of the sidewalk. Emily, the manager, was the one who called the police over a few broken glasses, exhibiting the most stereotypical Karen behavior.. the bartenders seem miserable, they are so rude to customers, especially Mark or Mike or whatever his name is and the female bartender w bangs who was working downstairs that night. horrible, horrible place. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! (unless you want them to call the cops on you too). read more

The atmosphere is cool but the service is typically terrible and slow. I had to wait twenty minutes for a drink at a half empty bar on Monday. The bar tender flipped out on me when I tried to grab his attention. I closed out and didn't tip because of that (was a small tab anyway). Well, I just checked my bank statement and he gave himself a 25% tip anyway. But like I said, cool atmosphere, shitty service. read more

I was at this venue this past weekend and I had to leave along with other patrons who were watching a comedy show because someone was too drunk and couldn't handle themselves. I'm so happy to be flanked by good bars, including Talon. I'll generally come by when I'm looking for something to eat and a beer, which they always serve up and I'm not disappointed. Some portions could be larger with the price but that's a lot of places. Great patio outdoors to hang out in, a little downstairs action with some music, and cool decor inside. Great place. Just happened to come across it while walking by. The drinks are good. Got the Demeter's 'Wich, a mushroom, broccoli, chimichurri, and cashew ricotta sandwich on ciabatta. So good. this place just opened and & i have a friend that lives in bushwick so we decided to check it out. they have interesting touches in so far as the decor, and some pretty tasty signature cocktails [tried both the sharp tongue shandy & the cabinet of curiosities] as well as many different types of beer [mmmm try the boulder shake stout]. their kitchen isn't fully open yet, so could only sample the cheese plate [it came with some delightful lamb prosciutto], can't wait for more food to be added to the menu. there is a comfy outdoor seating patio, and the bartender told me there is a basement speakeasy in the works debuting soon. will definitely go back again when in the neighbourhood. read more

Talon is the greatest. Back in March, we threw a big yet intimate party in the basement to celebrate our wedding with NYC friends. The owner, Emily, was amazing/easy to work with. She is so kind and cool. Her overall demeanor calmed our nerves before the party began. It made a huge difference for us. Thank you, Emily! The entire staff was super friendly throughout and made great cocktails in a very timely fashion. Everyone was accommodating and helpful. The space itself was perfect for performances in the beginning then dance party for rest of the night. The patio is really cool, it's a spacious bar overall for Brooklyn standards. I can't recommend Talon Bar enough. There's zero pretension and the drinks are reasonably priced (hard to find both these days!). A truly memorable evening thanks to them. read more

Tried this place last night.. awesome space, a lot of thought has been put into the layout and design. Great outdoor area, reminiscent of an Aussie pub courtyard. HOWEVER.. when we arrived we tried to sit at the bar and weren't well received by someone speedily reclaiming his seat. We ordered our drinks and opted to sit outside. While our drinks were being made, we realized that the guy actually worked there! He wasn't hospitable at all! And as for the cocktails - they were terrible. I'm not sure if the bartender was new to the game, but the margarita was watery and the martini was the worst my friend has ever had! The only saving grace was the space itself and the chicken wings (another order he didn't get right). We won't be going back! read more

The bartender was very rude. My boyfriend and I came here and he practically threw the menu at us and walked away. He didn't greet us and he made all the drinks by us and said nothing. He talked to everyone else at the bar who needed a drink except us. See I could be mean and say what was on my mind but this place was gorgeous. This is the reason why my boyfriend and I decided to come here. But honestly it took him too long to come over and say anything to us. The ambience is quite nice and all and good to know that they are still serving beer from a draft but I'm giving it a 1 star because they have a rat problem, to which they are aware of. When you sit by the wall where the plants are... you see and hear them. When I told the waitress about it.. she seemed to know and her response was.. I'll turn on the sprinklers. I was dumbfounded to hear how she handled the situation, but when they did, the huge rat then jumped out and ran threw the restaurant. I will not be returning. read more

Me and my friends were glad that this bar in the neighborhood has reopened as of 06/22/20 during reopening phase of NYC. Bartenders were mostly respectful, until one day, one of their staff started screaming and yelling to one of my friends merely for leaning over the bar and not standing straight enough on the marked lines on the floor. We totally understand the social distancing guidelines. He could have been nicer in instructing my friend. But to be yelled at and screamed by a staffer of this establishment when all we're trying to do is buy some drink and support a local business is beyond disrespectful. We decided to skip this spot for now and go somewhere else where bar staffers know the value of courtesy and kindness to its patrons. read more

Sexy atmosphere. Beautiful garden space. They've hosted some cool parties by GHOUSE and XOXA that curated incredible vibes. Staff is knowledgeable and service is friendly and excellent. 100% recommend for atmosphere and the food is also super tasty! I had the salmon sampler plate and it tasted fresh and whole with quality ingredients and attractive presentation. Came here on a Thursday and was so empty it was sad. Big space and neat decor but the vibe was awful. Music sucked and the people that were there just seemed sad. Came to this place expecting most of these reviews to be true, but I was very disappointed. What started off as a fun night soon turned for the worst when belligerently drunk individuals had caused a scene. These individuals, in my opinion, were clearly served way too much and should've been removed immediately from the premises. My boyfriend and I come here all the time it's become "our bar" since we live so close we hop in for a drink and even come in for dinner often. The food is SO GOOD , delicious wings that are on special every Tuesday before 8 and yummy big burger, fries, fried oysters plus brunch on the weekends! & the drinks are even better. Super cheap bear and shot (Brooklyn classic nowadays) and pretty tasty classic cocktails, i usually go for Tom Collins, side car, French 75. Bartenders are knowledgeable and drinks takes fresh and slamming. It's never super packed to the point that you can't enjoy but gets pretty bustling even on a Monday night. They have a pool table, although usually taken, and an outdoor backyard type patio. When the weather is nice that is the place to be( if you don't mind a bit of cigarette smoke or dogs) They also have fun things that go on during the week like karaoke night or a comedy slam downstairs. The staff are a bunch of great people. Friendly, unique and genuine. And they're pretty damn good bartenders. Most remember a face and give a warm welcome smile! Occasionally a wait at the bar since they usually have just 1 + a barback. Great food, drinks, staff and space and a pretty cool chill crowd! A neighborhood staple for sure read more

I write this as I sit in the outdoor area. I came to meet friends who were running late and I have my dog so I went straight to the outside area. this is not a table service type of spot, however as soon as I sat down with my dog, the owner (Maybe manager) came out to give me menus and ask what I wanted. he let me look it over and then came back and took my order. then he came back to take my card and then again to give me my drink. it was clearly just because I had a dog and couldn't go inside to order from the bar. this is my first Yelp review. the hospitality was so next level here I felt I had to chime in. this is definitely the new neighborhood spot. read more
