This was my second time dining here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it once again. After enjoying a delicious meal paired with a fantastic all-jazz performance, I'm already looking forward to coming back. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. I had been meaning to try Bloom Botanical Bistro for a while, since it seems to be a neighborhood staple, and finally stopped in for brunch with a guest from out of town. The floral displays are fun and are probably the highlight of the visit. The space is clearly designed for photos, and I can see why it would be popular for birthdays, showers, or other special occasions. They seem to go the extra mile when it comes to creating a celebratory atmosphere. Service was excellent from start to finish. The staff at reception and at the table were attentive, friendly, and welcoming. Food-wise, we tried the Kung Pao calamari and wagyu meatballs after seeing other reviewers rave about them, but both felt a little gimmicky to me. Our group mostly stuck with more traditional brunch items, including breakfast burritos and omelettes, and those were fine. Overall, I would not necessarily come here just for the food, but I would recommend it for the atmosphere, service, and special-occasion vibe. Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations. All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back. read more

The restaurant itself is beautiful. The floral decor and murals on the walls really create a nice ambience. This particular night, they were hosting a sip and paint. They didn't mention it when we made a reservation and when we entered the restaurant, there were maybe about five table tables that were not occupied by the event. We completely understood the fact that the wait staff was also serving the event, and expected delays in service. When our waiter came over to apologize for not being as attentive as he felt he could have been, we told him we completely understand not a problem. That being said, and even giving him the benefit of the doubt, we did not feel like welcomed guests at this restaurant. The attitude towards us asking questions about the menu, being indecisive about menu items seemed to put him completely off. We asked a question about one of the appetizers and he gave us a snarky answer. When it came time for dessert, we ordered an Affogato, which wasn't on the menu, but assuming it was an espresso with ice cream, didn't mention our allergy to nuts. When the cup came out, the rim of the cup was lined with chocolate and a mix of nuts. All we did was mention at that point that we had a food allergy, which clearly displeased our waiter greatly and when we asked for a different one without nuts on it, his attitude changed drastically. We finished up, paid the bill, left a normal tip and when we said good night to the waiter, he didn't so much as even say good night or thank us for coming - nothing at all. Now I'm one to believe you never know what someone is going through and I'm very sorry if he was having a bad day but it kind of put a damper on our dining this evening. So I came here for a jazz festival they were promoting which my friend invited me to. As soon as you enter, you're greeted by flowers in the entranceway. And once you get past the door you're even greeted with more flowers going, along with the name. Hence Bloom, it's very pink inside, but it's very spacious. It had a section for like live performances in the back and they have a bar which is located in the front and nicely decorated as well. We got drinks and food. Everything was delicious. The performance was wonderful it wasn't a fully packed house. But we made up for it with our Cheers. The performance was great, I like that they had a little swing for photo Ops, which had a cute little background. I would definitely check this place on again to try more of their menus and drinks. I came here on a Friday night and there was a live band playing, which made the whole experience even better. The restaurant is super cute and vibey perfect for date night or even a girls' night out. We ordered a variety of appetizers to share and everything was delicious. For my entrée, I got the short rib and the portion was HUGE. I couldn't even finish it and had to take the rest home (which I'm not mad about at all). The meat was tender and full of flavor. Beautiful place full of light, energetic ambiance. My wife and I originally were undecided to eat as it was kind of between lunch and dinner. We decided to have a few drinks for the time being. A friend and I came here for dinner on a weekday evening and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere so much. Had such a wonderful time at Bloom Botanical Bistro for their salsa night, with known DJ Willie. The vibe was full of energy and fun--great music, a lively crowd, and an atmosphere that made you want to dance the night away. I started the night with their shrimp and couscous from the bar menu--absolutely delicious and beautifully seasoned. Later, I snacked on chips with guacamole made from edamame--a unique twist that totally worked! So upon walking in, the ambiance of the restaurant is clubby and social. You walk in and you're immediately hit with dark lights and glowing floral decor, followed by live music. There is a bar area as soon as you walk in, and as you continue straight, there is a large open area of seating. There is a long booth as well as high top and regular tables. The service however is poor. When we arrived, we sat at the bar due to a lack of seating and an unknown waiting time. The bartender was very nice and greeted us, and took our appetizer and drink order quite quickly. The mocktail list was quite limited. The drinks listed were not substitutes of the regular cocktails, but were instead simply listed as "grape fruit." Appetizers: The chicken lollipops were flavorless and bitter. The bruschetta and french fries were great. Dinner order: We ordered our dinner, and waited an hour and 45 minutes for it! We did not have anyone come up to us and tell us our food was on the way. The bartender, who was our waiter, disappeared for 20 minutes. He then returned and apologized for the wait and said due to a few large parties, they couldn't bring us our order on time. The 'large parties' he was referring to were 2 tables of 10 people. Once we received our order, my friend got the correct dish, which was the ribs, and it was delicious. The meat was very tender and easy to pull. I however, received the wrong order. The waiters quickly realized and presented me with my correct plate. I ordered the filet mingon medium well. It was cooked medium well, but not very good. It tasted bitter and had a bad flavor in general. The baby potatoes on the side however were delicious! I noticed they only had 1 waitress on the floor. The other staff seemed to be more concerned with singing "happy birthday" to people than prioritizing the rest of the restaurant. I came here for my friend's birthday celebration this past weekend, and it absolutely exceeded my expectations. First of all, the restaurant is adorable, and great for folks who like Instagram, since there are a few photo ops throughout. I sat down with our group and we ordered sweet potato fries and the kung pao calamari to start. I'm not usually a fan of sweet potatoes or calamari, but to my surprise, I liked both. The sweet potato fries weren't too sweet, and the calamari wasn't chewy at all, which is a problem I've come across at some other places. I also ordered the Amalfi Spritz, a non-alcoholic take on the classic aperol spritz. It was delicious and had a similar flavor to an aperol spritz, but it didn't even need the alcohol added. For my main, I got the bibimbap with vegetable takoyaki balls. It was my first time trying takoyaki, yet alone seeing a vegetarian version. The bibimbap had a presentation I hadn't seen before, but every ingredient on the plate was perfect. The takoyaki was crispy on the outside, yet chewy on the inside, and had a slightly pink color from I'm assuming beets. One of the other people in our group ordered the tofu sandwich for herself, as well as the rigatoni with marinara for the table. I tried a few pieces of the rigatoni, and it was so warm and comforting- not only that, it was the quality you'd get from a high-end Italian restaurant. The flavors of literally everything I got were heavenly. Overall, my experience was amazing. Everyone made us feel extremely welcome, like we were being invited in to someone's home. Came for Mother's Day, and they were crazy overbooked. We sat 45 minutes after our reservation time, and it took another 45 minutes for our food to come. A few orders were wrong. They had run out of water glasses, so we didn't get water for about 20 minutes after we sat. The food was okay, although not outstanding in any way. The breakfast burrito and lox brunch were particularly bad. The menu said the lox came on focaccia, and it seemed to come on white bread. I felt badly for the staff, but I also overheard them continuing to take walk ins while they told patrons the kitchen was backed up. There was a long line of people waiting for tables when we left. Had THE BEST dining experience here. Located right on Metropolitan where parking can sometimes get a bit tricky (I always luck out on Metropolitan though). This spot is not only beautiful, the food is as delicious as the place is stunning. Literally a perfect experience was had as a friend and I who hadn't seen each other in a long time got to catch up. The staff saw that it was one of those dinners were we weren't in a rush and the respected that by checking in very intermittently. They were wonderful. The specials they featured looked so good that we got two of them. The charcuterie board, which was as beautiful as the restaurant itself was such a nice size and a perfect starter for the pasta in the cheese wheel. This was unique because the pasta was in a red sauce. The kicker, it tasted better the next day as a leftover. For drinks I had the hibiscus margarita very good but wasn't really strong. For my entree I had the filet mignon on an English muffin I swapped the poach egg for scrambled and it was amazing!! This was our first time checking out Bloom. The decor is beautiful. The staff were friendly. We went on a Jazz Thursday night. The trio playing was fantastic, very enjoyable. To start off we ordered cocktails. I had the I Dream in Color, which I loved. It was well balanced perfection. Tom had the Garden of Eden, which he felt was too tart. As an appetizer, we shared the grilled artichokes. They were well seasoned and tender, an absolute delight. We agreed this was the best dish of the night for both of us. For our main courses, Tom had the short rib burger with Truffle fries. The burger was very good although there was no discernible au just gravy as mentioned on the menu, it came with ketchup and mayo. It could have been improved with the au just gravy. The truffle fries were great, hot and crispy outside, soft and 'fluffy' inside. I had the braised short rib as an entree. It was just ok. The whipped mashed potatoes were way too cold. As for the short rib, although the outer edges were very good, once you got past the edges, the inner part was way too dry to eat. Tom loved the crispy and carmelized brussel sprouts. In addition, we ordered a side of grilled asparagus, which I thought was delicious. For dessert, we split the Bananas Foster. Loved it, the carmelized bananas were delicious. Although we were disappointed with a few items ordered, we will definitely give it a second shot. read more

Located on Metropolitan Ave, meter parking right outside with residential within walking distance. Store front establishment, nicely decorated interior with a theme of flowers. Very nice set up, bar area, and seating area with high tops, one sided booth areas, and regular chair/tables. We came on a Saturday night for 2 with a reservation. We were seated immediately right by the flower wall with the little bench swing. Menu has different types of cuisines, offers vegan, vegetarian, and regular options. They have a separate drink menu and a menu with their weekly cocktail and dinner specials. I ordered the root bound and down cocktail which had a nice autumn-y flavor, apple spices too. We got the calamari appetizer and as we were starting to eat it, staff came by running a cable wire above the booth side of our table. My partner was sitting in the booth seat and unfortunately was sandwiched between two male staff for about 5 minutes as they figured out how to run the cable by that part of the wall and behind the flower wall. As they moved the flower wall around, a heavy amount of dust was coming out and on to our food, table, and drinks. My partner was visibly upset, as was I. They offered to move us to another table which we accepted and they had no problem replacing the drink and calamari that had the dust falling on it. The owner was extremely apologetic and upon learning it was our first time there and it was my birthday, he added free rounds of drinks, comped the dessert we got, and gave us a $25 gift card to use for a future visit. We also got the midnight in Paris cocktail which was tasty and good alcohol content. For entrees we went off the specials menu, got the branzino and the shrimp linguini. The shrimp were overcooked but the pasta, sauce, artichokes, spinach, and asparagus with shaved parmesan were delicious. The branzino had a tomato base sauce on top; the fish was soft and tasted good, just a pinch of salt needed and it would have been a home run. The fish came with baby potatoes that had a charred taste and spinach that was delicious too. For dessert we went with the apple pie. I loved it, my partner felt it was a bit too sweet. Around 10:30 pm Bloom started the Latin night. Variety of Spanish music, older, newer, salsa, bachata, merengue. They cleared the middle of the room for dancing and left tables surrounding for those who were still eating and/or having drinks. Most of the place ended up dancing at different points. This was a good experience and a good idea for a date night. The music is played by a DJ. I will return and look forward to an excellent experience from beginning to end. One of my new favorite spots in the area, I frequented this spot many times when it was previously Dylan's and The Other Place. Great location with lots of street parking. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with flowers, lots of photo op and they even provide a ring light to get the perfect shot. The staff is great, very friendly and accommodating. They have a large menu, I've dined here about five times this year and everything was delicious. They also have amazing cocktails, I love their espresso martini. For starters go with the lobster bisque soup, could use a little more lobster, but the broth is amazing, I don't even like bread but I always finish the bread bowl. Salmon and shrimp are really good entrées, the short rib is just ok. The side mushrooms are very good. The ambiance was fun and upbeat with an in-house dj playing millennial jams, perfect of us millennial moms enjoying a kid-free brunch! The hash was seasoned nicely, the pulled pork, although tender, lacked flavor. I had to ask for extra hollandaise bc it was served with the skimpiest drizzle of hollandaise. Two other people in our group ordered the same thing and they said theirs was DRY & flavorless. The friend next to me ordered their avocado toast which was much larger than we expected, she was pleasantly surprised and really enjoyed it. When it came time for desserts, we ordered a couple to share and the staff surprised our birthday celebrant with a shower of bubbles, a cake and a huge sparkler. The desserts were ok, we had peach cobbler, chocolate mousse and chocolate cheesecake. All in all we all enjoyed ourselves. This is the perfect Valentine's Day date night. They do a great job setting up the decor to create a romantic atmosphere. Flowers everywhere, mood lighting, live jazz, free photographs and a special menu. Prices are reasonable and service is good too. My husband doesn't eat much meat and they had a lot of vegan/ vegetarian options. I loved their squash soup off the Valentine's Day menu and edamame guac. I was pleasantly surprised with how tasty the beet Wellington was. I was a little disappointed in the lobster of my pappardelle - not much lobster meat and it was chopped up in to thin slices but it he flavors are good and the portion was big.
