This is a very interesting menu and dining experience. The restaurant is beautiful with high ceilings and great lighting. It is definitely a menu designed for groups. I was there with just 1 friend and we asked our server how many dishes we should get. She recommended 2 small and 1 large, so we opted for the ceviche, japanese sweet potato, and the whole fish. I think we could have just done two and it would have been adequate, but I am glad we tried more dishes. The ceviche was my favorite. It was SO good and stunning, the color was incredible. I loved the pomegranate seeds too. The flavors were fantastic and worked really well together. The sweet potato was interesting. I don't think I would have ordered it again. The herby topping was a little too cilantro forwarded and overpowered the rest of the dish, and felt a little too heavy. I loved the yogurt on the side of the dish which did help to cut the heaviness. The fish was excellent. It was cooked so well so it was crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside. The green curry-esque sauce around it was incredible, and I loved the chard and peas. It worked so well together.
Let's Try Restaurants in Brooklyn Whenever I'm more curious than hungry, I gravitate toward restaurants that lean into creativity--places with thoughtful, & unexpected offerings. And since New York spoils us for choice, I turned to my trusty Michelin Guide app and zoomed in on a restaurant in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. This was once an industrial neighborhood that's now buzzing with high-end shops and inventive dining spots. And that's how I ended up at Nura--a restaurant with Indian influences in both styling and flavor. And maybe it helped that I'm still very much in love with India as a country; the pull was natural. From the warm spices to the subtle decor cues, Nura felt like a quiet homage to India that's fresh, original, and distinctly New York. (And yes, it helped that Brooklyn didn't have congestion fee and has more parking spaces compared to Manhattan. ) #curious_eater #michelinguide #michelinnyc #michelin
Nura is definitely a vibe when it comes to atmosphere. It's classy and feels perfect for a date night. The ambiance is beautiful, and the waitstaff is very accommodating. As for the food, the portion sizes are on the smaller side. Reading the menu, everything sounds mouthwatering, but when the dishes actually come out, the flavors don't always live up to the hype. The fluke crudo was pretty bland, and the naan, while tasty, was just one small piece. I really enjoyed the hummus, that dish had plenty of flavor. The mussels were cooked perfectly, though the flavor profile wasn't really my favorite. Dessert was the highlight. We ordered the chai crème brûlée, and it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I'd come back here just for dessert on a date night.
Excellent ambiance inside. Luxurious in spacing, calm ambient noise as a result, and quick service. We had a reservation that they were able to bump up to earlier. The space itself is gorgeous; the colors communicate tropical luxury. Brunch was exceptional. Lamb vindaloo and coconut grits was a must-get dish. The texture comes together beautifully and all of the flavors complement each other so well. The vegetable mezze platter was good, but not obsessed with it. Best part was likely the Pullman's toast. Most flavorful toast I've had all year--would get just a platter of just that bread.
Upset to find out they don't have a Michelin star?!? All of their food is so clean, DELICIOUS, inventive. Their silverware, dishes and furniture are all smart and modern and functional; generally satisfying. Servers are so respectful and good at what they do they make me think of service in a different light. Their drinks are solid, and the ambiance is perfectly adaptable whether it's night or day it's a calm clean modern boho atmosphere; PERFECT for a date or any occasion. I can't wait to go back!!
Came here for a weekend brunch and it wasn't crowded at all! Service and the high ceiling atmosphere were great. The brunch menu seemed a little limited compared to dinner. We got the daal tadka which was a little bland for me, and the curry. Neither were standouts though I'd say the bread was good.
I came here for brunch with a couple of family friends over the summer, and the space itself when you enter is gorgeous. It is a high ceilinged space with tons of natural light that is let in from the huge windows. We had made reservations beforehand and I'm glad we did as it was pretty packed when we showed up. We ordered the granola, the lentil bowl, and the waffle and everything was extremely flavorful. The service wasn't too bad, but we had more than one server over the period of time we were there, and they forgot to bring us a couple of things we had asked for. Overall, I would definitely come back here again!
I've been eager to try this spot and was not disappointed! The decor and ambiance are stunning - high ceilings with a beautiful industrial feel with exposed pipes and huge windows, but also thoughtfully decorated with colorful stools and warm wood pieces for a more cozy vibe. Great natural lighting and I love that the bar is centered within the space and the kitchen is open. A great, airy flow throughout the entire place. The staff members are friendly and attentive - they check in thoroughly without being overbearing. Now onto the food - simply amazing. Everything tasted fresh and exactly as described. The black sesame coconut milk beverage was refreshing and not too sweet. The Mezze platter was a refreshing start for the table - the fish was so fresh and not overly salty, the sauce was light and creamy, and the eggs were perfectly boiled. The Creole Style Kerala Curry had a nice kick to it and had perfectly poached eggs with a nice amount of onions and peppers mixed in. The Pork Vindaloo & Coconut Grits were a great dish to take off some of the heat from the curry - it was creamy and light; and also had a poached egg! The pork was tender and paired wonderfully with the coconut grits. Brunch was fantastic and I am looking forward to coming back and trying their other brunch items + their dinner items!
Found this place on Yelp and took my cousin here for brunch. They have a beautiful modern interior with high sealing, cute yellow tables, warm natural lights, and a lot of greens. Also, every food we had was exceptional! 1. Bread Basket (5/5) - great appetizer. Cornbread and honey butter combo were yummy. 2. Leige Waffle (6/5) - this was recommended by our server and it was the best dish at NURA. The waffle was toasty, and its cream cheese whip-cream was to die for. This would be perfect as either breakfast or dessert with coffee. 3. Red Curry Pork & Coconut Grits (5/5) - I've had Thai, Indian, and Japanese curry, but this curry was completely different and unique. The pulled pork on top was delicious, with just enough spice, and the overall texture was creamy and soft. 4. Smoked Andouille (4/5) - with cilantro and red peas, this dish reminded me of a chorizo breakfast. The sausage tasted great, but I don't think it was as special as other dishes. The name of our server was AC, and he was amazing! Every food he recommended was great and he consistently checked on us to make sure we are enjoying the food or need something. I will definitely go back to try their dinner menu which is different from lunch! *Street parking available near by *Great for a small or big group (perfect place to go with a group of friends) *Reservation recommended as this place is always packed during the weekends
Nura at night has such a nice ambience with the dark lighting and the booth seats. Service was great, and the food was pretty damn good too. 1. Dips with the chapati and the naan: these were soooo good. The breads were also killer 2. Salad: love a good fresh salad and this did not disappoint 3. The shrimp dish was alright. I thought it would be a bit more charred from the photos. Good but not great 4. Lamb kofte: pretty good. Don't really remember that much about this dish if I'm being honest though. Overall, good at Nura was good. Would come back to try their other stuff
Everything dish was out of this world! My girls and I do a monthly dinner series where we visit a new restaurant every month. This month we chose Nura and it did not disappoint! We started with drinks - I got the Mirror Mirror number two and they got one of the orange wines. For appetizers, we got the garlic naan, roti, cornbread (it's gluten free), and the array of tips. As you can see, I got a pic of the dips but we dug into the bread too quickly to take a pic lol! We share each of the entrees and side dishes and our server paired each protein with a side dish based on which would go best together. The braised lamb with the dirty rice, the skate fish with the prawns, and the chicken with the collard greens. We loved every dish aside from the skate fish. And it's not that we didn't like it, we just had our heart set on the red snapper however it wasn't on the menu this particular night. From the food to the ambiance to our server, everything was perfect and we can't wait to dine here again!
We loved loved loved this place. We were looking for a last minute brunch spot and boy were we happy we strolled in here. Every detail was perfect down to the beautiful plates. No Fishes Eddy Cheap A$$ china here. :). The decor is lovely. Food was insane. Server was lovely. Took my friend from upstate here and now he wants to move down here. Really great space and Ill be back to hang in that comfy nook area.
very pleasantly surprised by my dining experience here meal was a 10/10, service was incredibly quick, the aesthetic was stunning! although the menu limited everything was a major hit and we did everything to share crudo: zesty, melts in your mouth, vegetables add nice flavors prawns: spicy sauce was so good, prawns were very big roti / naan: thick consistency, fluffy, paired well with dips white sauce: so good tasted like a tzatziki chili hummus: tbh could have done without this but it was good lamb shoulder / kofta: juicy, tender, full of so much flavor and seasoned well. would highly recommend this was a good cooked lamb

One of my favorite meals I've had! Everything was absolutely stellar. From the wine to the ceviche to the king oyster mushrooms to the fish! The ceviche was probably the best ceviche I've ever had in my life. It was blood orange based, but the citrus was really well balanced. The king oyster mushroom dish was soo delicious. The sauce and the texture of the mushrooms were to die for. I've salivating thinking about them right now! The fish was also so amazing. The bottoms were so crispy, it was almost like it was a layer of potato chip! Really great texture, and the fish meat was cooked to perfection. Really sad that they're closing, but looking forward to whatever the chef/restaurant team does next! read more
Our food experience at Nura was a bit of a mixed bag, but when I think about the total package with ambiance, environment and service, I feel like it earns four stars. It's a beautifully designed space, and we went in the evening so it was dimly lit and had good tunes, contributing to an intimate and cool vibe. The service throughout was good both by our primary server and the rest of the team that was bringing out dishes. For the food, we did not feel that it was a strong start, but the ending was great! The first dish to come out was their cornbread, which we agreed was very light and had a super tender texture, but there was just nothing special about the taste profile to us. The second dish were their prawns. We couldn't put our finger on the off-putting flavor in there, but we agreed that something just wasn't right and almost tasted spoiled. You also had to work a bit to dissect the prawns and remove the heads and skin. To work for it and then not enjoy the taste wasn't a great combo for us, unfortunately. It started turning around with their sweet potatoes, a type I'd never had before that were "baby" and purple on the outside while white inside. They served the potatoes with a gorgeously whipped Greek yogurt that added the exact right amount of tang to balance the sweet potato and the herby topping. The stars of the night were the coconut basmati rice and the lamb shank. My goodness! The rice dish was so complex from a flavor and texture profile and just hit all the right notes for us, and that lamb! Definitely one of the best lamb dishes I've had - Impossibly tender and seasoned to perfection. One other note I'll make regarding drinks is that they did not have a strong wine list. I ended up ordering a red, but later heard our waiter recommend against getting their wine to another table and suggesting their cocktails and mocktails instead. Just something to keep in mind if you're a wine lover! read more
Mediterranean Indian fusion food in a beautiful Modern contemporary restaurant. Big open space full of plants perfect for date nights. The food was just packed with flavor - you can really taste the cultural influences in spice. Great, friendly service who got us everything we needed to leave happy. read more

One of my fave meals this year, the indian-mediterranean-new american fusino might be a bit of a confusing concept at first but trust it and go with it because the quality of the ingredients, the texture, and flavors were just on point. Bold, falvorful, and well-balanced. There's a ton of space inside as well as a lounge for you to wait for your table if they happen to ask you to wait. The lamb kofta and paneer gnocchi were just delicious - texture was soft, melt in your mouth, and the meat was so deep in flavor. Salivating writing about this! The naan was quite good, too - everything was a hit! It's one of my friend's favorite restaurants in greenpoint and he lives here. read more
Heard a lot of hype about this place but the dishes were SO salty. The dips did NOT come with any bread/chips so you had to order your own...the naan was really only one single small naan...and it wasn't anything special. The lamb was pricey and WAY too salty. All i could taste was salt. The sweet potato was fine but also a bit salty?? i mean they were really just roasted sweet potato with garnish that cost me $20+. Overall this place is pricey, the service is fine, ambiance is nice but not mind blowing, and the food is average &too salty. read more
I had a lovely family style meal here with my brother and parents. We started with the Parker house rolls and the naan with the selection of dips. There was a yogurt dip, a roasted eggplant and some type of hummus. My favorite was the yogurt but they all felt tangy, acidic and bright- great compliments to the buttery, pleasantly greasy breads. We had the prawns as well, and I enjoyed dipping some bread in the oil from that plate as well. The house pickles were a nice appetizer as well, an interesting mix of pickled mango, okra and carrot, the sweetness of the vegetables were well patched by the seasoning of the pickling liquid. The next dish we tried was the lamb. It was very tender and fatty, a very rich plate with a pleasant aroma of mint and a little bite of scallion The Japanese sweet potatoes were substantial and filling and the sweetness of the potato was well countered by the verde salsa macha topping. I especially enjoyed the yogurt sauce on this plate. The chicken was juicy, but not intensely flavorful. It was a a well roasted chicken, served over sungold tomatoes and okra. Each plate felt light as any heavy element had some sort of bright and tangy compliment to match it. The flavors here were well balanced, and although no one dish particularly stood out as a "must order" it was a satisfying and dynamic meal with many different flavors and textures. Although I found the lighting to be a bit dark and the music to be a bit loud, the space is beautiful and the service is helpful and friendly. read more

4.5 stars for the vibe, 3 for the food, 2.5 for the price. Came here after work with some friends. Amazing vibes inside and the cocktails were pretty good. We ordered 3 small plates, 3 rounds of naan, and 2 dips. It was not quite filling enough but my major qualm with the dining experience was the taste. Mostly everything was fine. The yogurt dip was amazing I will say. Otherwise, quite uneventful dishes for the cost. Service was good. Overall would recommend this place to grab a cocktail and the yogurt dip as a snack. read more
Service deserves 5 stars. We shared 3 dishes and they complimented each other. We got the 3 savory and one sweet dish. All were delicious! Glad we got the wild rice and vindaloo pork grits. They tasted yummy together with all the different textures. Liege waffles was out of this world yumminess! Perfect with crunchy almonds. read more
Spot on BK/ Greenpoint vibes. Felt trendy and I loved the space. We came for brunch. Cocktails - The triple play was OK, but I don't think I would get it again. Food - For $12, the bread basket was not worth the price (one full piece of toast and 2 small cornbreads). I'm also some who LOVES cornbread & this was far from the best cornbread I've ever had. I'm honestly surprised everyone raves about this, although they do have different bread baskets. Ps the toast comes with some of the entrees.. The saving grace here was the daal that came with the American breakfast. YUM. Tied everything together on the plate. Overall, I'd give the place another chance if I'm in the area. read more
Went here for a Saturday brunch and loved the vibe! The interiors are super cool and embody the Greenpoint vibe. The cuisine feels like a mix of American, Mediterranean and Indian which is a unique and interesting blend of flavors. Overall, this place is definitely worth trying once (or twice to try the dinner menu) but not the type of place I'd keep coming back to. - @nyconthetable read more

I've been here a few times now and have always had a great experience. The food is top notch, as are the servers and the drinks. I really like the decor and the set up of the space. When I went recently, it seemed like they've done away with their array of breads that they offer to accompany your meal, which is really unfortunate. Please bring that back! read more
Beautiful restaurant with high ceilings and cozy decor/fresh greenery. We came for a girls night. I'd recommend coming with a group so you can try more things, especially the bread basket which might be too much for just 2 people. We started off with a round of cocktails - my favorite being the golden hour with carrot juice. Sounded iffy, but it was refreshing and not too heavy on the alcohol taste. We ordered way too much food for the 4 of us, but it was a good variety. - Our server told us that the breads & dips was a must, and I'm glad we tried it! It came with buttery soft rolls (so fluffy) and garlic naan (a bit too salty) + 3 dips. Fave was the tomato chutney - Japanese sweet potato: savory yogurt sauce. I enjoyed this, but couldn't eat too much of it. I liked the sweet + savory combo - Lettuces and chicories: delicious crunch salad with a nice vinaigrette! I liked the candied pecans - Heritage spare ribs: very soft and fatty with a sweet sauce and crunch peanuts. I liked this main better than the chicken - Prawns: way too salty! but cooked perfectly Overall, good to try and nice to bring guests to with just the ambiance alone, but probably wouldn't go back again on our own read more
Had made brunch reservations on a surprisingly warm October Saturday and not surprisingly, the place was packed around 12:30! We got a comfortable booth which was perfect for our toddler, thanks to their friendly staff! We got to ordering our brunch cocktails and the unanimous choice was the Smoke & Mirrors ($16) cocktail which was mezcal based. They also had a few good beers on tap, which weren't listed on the menu, not sure why! Their food menu is really interesting with a good amount of Indian fusion! We ordered a very delicious plate of Daal Tadka ($16) which disappointingly did not come with rice (so we had to order that separately). We also got a very interesting Wild Rice Brunch Bowl ($19), which was vegetarian. What peaked my interest was the Madras Curry vinaigrette which was slightly overpowered by the vinegar, but was packed with flavor in general. Meat lovers ordered the Red Curry Pork & Coconut Grits ($23) and the Butter Chicken Sausage ($24) - both were thoroughly enjoyed and polished off the plate! Food, service, and overall restaurant setup was absolutely amazing and we couldn't have asked for anything more from the team while we were there. Had a reservation for dinner on a Friday for 2 people. Overall, I think this is a great dinner spot. Love the ambiance, food was good (not something I'd necessarily crave and some was better than others). Ambiance is amazing. Trendy, but has a cozy neighborhood feel. Your entire party has to be there in order to be seated, but there's a really cute waiting area. Service was great as well. I ordered the below and split between two people. Portions aren't very big. You'd likely need to order duplicates if you had 4+ people. -Breads & Dips: a must. Great to share and compliments the other entrees, especially since they don't necessarily come with carbs. My online qualm is the pita bread was burnt on the bottom. -Green Chorizo Lamb Kofta: really enjoyed this. Not too "lamb-y" tasting. Very juicy and flavorful! -Scallops: I wouldn't order again. Very pretty dish, but not worthwhile for $36. Comes with 3 not so big scallops. Overall the dish was lacking depth and salt. -Priceless Advice: zero proof drink. This was decent. Has a bit of a sour taste to it. It was interesting! read more
When I was first asked to go Nura, the name (and location) gave me the impression that it would be Japanese or pan-Asian cuisine. Realized upon looking at the menu that it is not that at all. According to the website it is "Indian-accented new American." Walking in here the ambiance was great. The music was decently loud and the interior very spacious. Tons of plants line the floor and I can imagine it to be very cute during the day since there are tons of windows and natural light would illuminate the space. In the center is a really nice bar area which could be cute for an early date/catch up with friends as well. We had a 9 pm reservation and I would recommend it for the weekend days as there were multiple parties waiting for tables. I really didn't intend to drink but the cocktails all looked so good that I had to indulge. I opted for the pretty ricky and though I'm not a cocktail fan it was delicious. Very strong and not too sweet (thank goodness). We ordered the pickles and tajin peanuts for a little snack. Pickles were delicious I don't know why but I was obsessed. Tajin peanuts were fine, could have done without them personally. Food wise we did the breads and dips (a must), lamb kofta, and half chicken. The house rolls were so very good, topped with flaky salt and buttery. My favorite of the three dips was the eggplant but a long shot. Smooth and strong garlic flavor. Lamb kofta was also solid-- no smell and topped with some herb oil. Finally the chicken! Very well cooked, tender, crispy skin and i don't know how, but flavorful as well. I will note that everything here was a bit salt heavy but if you have a cocktail or glass of wine it's a nice balance. I was concerned it wouldn't be enough food but we definitely had left overs and were too full for dessert. Pretty affordable meal as well, particularly given the ambiance and service. They have a unique brunch menu which has already piqued my interest so hope to try that one day. read more

Friends brought us here for dinner and it was incredible! All of the staff were so friendly and attentive. The food was outstanding - literally everything we got was delicious. I could have just eaten bread for my whole meal! But the lamb neck and sweet potato were both excellent, too. read more

Ok... so overall I wasn't that impressed by the entrees but the breads are so unreal. Bread alone deserves 5 stars. I will return just to order a basket of all the different breads and a drink, maybe will add some oysters next time. Then I will walk to Caffe Panna down the street and reflect on an extremely odd but outstanding girl dinner. Vibes seem right for sitting at the bar either alone or with a friend. So that makes me feel confident in this girl dinner rec lol. read more

We went to Nura to celebrate my birthday and everything was amazing. The food was delicious, the ambiance was beautiful, and the staff was incredibly kind. Alex was especially polite and attentive and truly made the experience even more special. Highly recommended. read more

Love the ambience, the service, and the extremely unique food. Favorite thing we got was the Watermelon. Extremely refreshing with the perfect combination of salty and sweet, and a bit of extra crunch that adds some great texture. This place offers endless unique dishes where you can taste the artistry in the ingredients and plating. read more
Excellent. Food was superb. Flawless, highest quality, and amazingly fresh. The tuna crudo had a nice kick of spice and acidity. The braised lamb is a must - depth of flavour of the lamb was beyond. Naan was even made fresh using a tandoor. Wish there were more prawns given instead of 3 but the taste was there. Sticky toffee pudding was clean and rich - a must. Service was respectful and well-paced. Ambiance was great too. Loved the decor. Price very reasonable for the quality. Would highly recommend! read more

I went to Nura for dinner with a friend and it did not disappoint. The oysters were fresh, the rolls were so fluffy and the service was great. I am still dreaming about the Japanese Sweet Potatoes - HIGHLY recommend. The restaurant is beautiful and has great vibes. Will definitely be going back! read more
