What a surprise !! Surprisingly good It's little bit hidden, but still pretty easy for find. The drinks are delicious and very well made. Space isn't big but as the name. it's Narrow ! few tables in the back and mostly just bar space. I didn't feel crowd at any point but also it's not completely empty. It's just about right among the people. CASH ONLY I totally enjoyed this surprise in the E williamburg ! read more

One narrow passage seperates the front seating areas and the back. The backyard closes at 12 (or is it now 11?) and is probably the spaciest of the bushwick roundup, especially if you pin it against the Kings County 'garden' space. The mixed drinks are all class, but the best drink special is the shot of house-infused jalepeño tequila and a bottle of sol. I won't say much for their beer collection, but if a bar has a decent brooklyn lager or six point that's always easy middle ground for the less strongly tasted. Some may dislike the size constraints in the main corridor, but I have no qualms with that personally if you show up early, or at the right time, and nab a seat. read more

I love this place. I live nearby in one of the big converted loft boxes, and wanted something that wasn't yet more Edison bulbs, reclaimed wood tables, chalkboards, and other such annoying prattles of contemporary conformity. At the Narrows, I got what I had always asked about, which is to say, the 30s American modernism-esque style made true. Nice sconces, good atmospheric lighting, good strong classic drinks (Not really super experimental), more than decent food. The fries in particular are probably some of the best in the area. Although I was attended by a gaggle of lovely ladies, I was not overly intoxicated by this place, at least not enough to merit a four star rating. Some people are turning into BK snobs! I stepped up to the bar to find only a single bartender scrambling a bit to make all these fancy concoctions. He seemed to struggle. He seemed a bit flippant when I tried to order. A smuttynose IPA... easy enough. I guess he was just not used to keeping a busy bar. I have to say I also found the whole thing a bit odd... I mean here we are all this way out in BK to get away from the manhattan swank, and what do we do but build a small temple to manhattan style, a art deco cum speakeasy that would fit right in with all of it's East Village brethren. Yes it is a cute bar, and there were some nice people, nice faces, friendly banter. But nothing special really, just a bar. read more

Just a brief update to point out that the Narrows now serves food. After ordering a pretty expensive plate of onion rings, I was brought out 5... yes... 5 tiny onion rings stacked up on each other. Were they good? Yes. When I am raging and seeking out grease do I require only 5 onion rings? No, the wrath of my drunk stomach could eat an entire bucket--and probably would eat out of a bucket--if it came down to that. I want to like the Narrows a lot. The cocktails are good, the staff is friendly, and I dig the space (which is now a lot bigger by the way--they expanded to make room for the kitchen and more tables!)... But the food menu is a joke with proportions that make Baby Jesus weep. Maybe this shit flies in the West Village or something, but keep this shit away from Bushwick. read more

This is a really good #Veggie Burger. I don't know why I ordered the #Veggie Burger. I never order a #Veggie Burger. But I did. Then I was regretting it right after I ordered it. But then it came and I was oh, this looks a little different than what I was thinking (i.e. #Boca Burger). And tasted really good. Not like a #Boca Burger. Great tasting #Veggie Burger! read more

The first time I came to the Narrows I LOVED it. The Caufield Dream was just right, and the backyard in the winter made me excited for Bushwick in the summer.. But after frequenting this bar at 3-4 AM on my drunken way home from wherever else in the neighborhood, probably just another local bar, I found it underwhelming. The cocktails are good, the servers are awesome and cute, and you cannot beat a bud + shot a jameson at six bucks. read more

I lived in the neighborhood the past 4 years, and this was my go to place. Literally love the place and people who work there. Perfect to swing by after a long day for a quick dinner and wine. They have a beautiful ambiance and backyard. Molly is an absolute angel and love chatting with her when she is there. The food is so yummy and good cocktails and wine. Best neighborhood restaurant/ bar ever! read more

How lucky am I to have moved only a few blocks away from this bar? Classy Bushwick style only made better by the fact that the bartenders here make a damn good cocktail. My Negroni had the perfect gin:Campari ratio. The patio out back is something I look forward to on balmy summer nights (however I was informed that it closes at 12?) as the interior is rather tight. Remember ladies and gents: CASH only. read more

The patio in the back is great, but the inside isn't anything special, as far as design and decor. The bar area is black and white, and I actually don't really like the shiny black paneling they have in the front part. It looks shoddy and cheap to me. It's also so narrow that it can be annoying to stand and wait for a drink while others are trying to pass by. I've never sat in the booth/table service section, so I don't have anything to say about that. Still, it's a solid bar, the bartenders are friendly, and it's a good place for a casual drink. It's not obnoxiously loud and you don't feel the need to dress a certain way or anything. It's also nice that it's not overly romantic. People are just there to hang and have a good time. I like the fact that it feels super unpretentious and chill, especially in the enclosed back area. They could use a few more stools over there, but it's a nice open space. It's also heated, which is great during the winter. The patio is obviously awesome. Lots of seating and super relaxed feel. read more

Love this bar. What this place lacks in space, it easily makes up for in top notch drink quality. The Narrows creates cocktails that rival any bar in Manhattan, easily. Even better is their beer and shot special, which is a lemon infused Sol and a shot of jalapeno infused tequila. Prices are reasonable and during the summer, the outdoor area is to die for. Be warned though, the outdoor area closes at 11 or 12 and if you're a smoker, you'd be wise not to stand right in front of the bar, there is a crazy guy who loves to throw water out of his front window after midnight. read more

Now THIS is where you get a cocktail. The bartender, Lee was beautiful, sweet and man could she mix a drink. The cocktails were original, wacky and amazing. We had such a great time and the best part was, we walked right by the place 3 times bc it was so incognito. Great find. Will be back again and again. Oh and you MUST try the Babushka, perfect one inch ice cubes, tasty all around perfect cocktail. DJ Julia Marie ThatGirlsGotRhythm(dot)org read more

- Good For a Date or Two people - Don't miss it. there is no sigh, so hard to find this place and need careful eyes. The place is really a NARROW space and always packed, but great mood with candle lighting. The best thing of here is lots of fashionable and cool people enjoy here, you can be a part of it. Please, enjoy this artistic area. There is also a pretty good garden at the back, outside will be essential to enjoy summer. Here's drink's prices are around $10-18/each, this is average in NY area. read more

We came here after dinner and fell in love with their back patio. Cute backyard ambiance, great for conversation and drinks. Also, the DRINKS. I had a Tequila slushie that did not disappoint and cannot wait to come here again the next time we're in the neighborhood. read more

Don't want your date/significant other to go home after a delicious dinner at Roberta's? Head over to The Narrows. But make sure you don't walk past the door. It's hard to spot when it's dark out. Thank God for technology and Google Maps! First impressions upon entering? Sexy Sophisticated Mysterious The music isn't too loud, the bar is beautiful with hooks underneath for your coat, and smooth booths towards the back. People are talking, but not loud enough to overtake your conversation. The drinks are delicious and change seasonally. The bartenders know what they're doing and are attentive to every person. The drinks, ambiance, and service are all worth the money you will spend. And you will be going back again and again and again. read more

I loved my experience here, I'd definitely be back. My friend and I were pub crawling through the neighborhood, and were a bit nervous about popping into a fancy-looking place for a cocktail (given that we mostly had stopped at dive-y places before and after). We were pleasantly surprised by both the prices ($8 cocktails) and the friendly staff. I ended up enjoying a great gin and St. Germain cocktail, and my friend also enjoyed his rye drink (the Caulfield). We struck up conversation with both the bartenders and staff, and folks seemed friendly. I'll definitely be back. read more

Speakeasy-like in style, The Narrows offers a number of well-priced and well-mixed cocktails in a laid back environment. My friend and I dropped by for a Friday post-dinner drink, and enjoyed these and the lovely weather in the garden area. With the exception of a feral cat fight, it was relaxing to sit and sip and watch the light fade into night. Don't expect great service though, unless the server-in-training replaces the one who served us. read more

I'm a fan. But only because of the delightful, kitschy cocktails. The Caulfield's Dream is particularly yum. The indoor area is small and neighborhood sized, but they have a pretty spacious outdoor patio area. The bartenders are cute and friendly. One fatal flaw is the prices. Especially because of its location. When the Narrows first opened, prices were great. They had the Jalapeno tequila + beer special and Caulfield's Dream for $6. Now my favorite cocktail is $8. My roommate brought all of us shots, including his Vodka Tonic, and it came out to around $45. Sure, it was Patron but, seriously, it was way too much. It's a great bar but the prices put on quite the damper. I still recommend people to come and try their unique, delicious cocktails. They are the Narrow's saving grace. read more

OH MY GOD THESE OYSTERS. I've never had such meaty, juicy $1 oysters in my life. They are perfectly shucked, and are so tasty, they don't even warrant cocktail sauce on the side. This place is also such a cute hole in the wall. Don't come here expecting brunch, but the cocktails, beer offerings, and OYSTAS are so worth the visit. read more

This place boasts interior design as stunning as the drinks themselves, which are typically fun, zingy twists on recognizable classics. I've never experiencing anything other than warm, attentive service at this bar, and have found my interactions with staff efficient, friendly, and professional. I'd highly recommend this place! read more

The art deco decor is beautiful, cocktails were wonderful and well made, and I love the backyard patio. Most of the staff members were courteous and friendly, all except the server who was incredibly rude to me for no apparent reason. I sat with a few of my friends in the backyard patio, enjoying a pleasant conversation over a few drinks, our server came over and greeted everyone except me and proceeded to take everyone's order except mine. I had to stop her from leaving my table, without taking my order over three times! Now, I don't know what I did to make this women behave in such a manner, but I felt completely alienated by this person. I am not one to claim racism, but I was the only one in my group, who wasn't of a light skin complexion, and was treated differently without uttering a word -- I call that racism. I didn't move to Bushwick to face any sort of racism or classism, if I wanted to deal with the latter I'd move to Manhattan. That being said, I will not let one person at an establishment take away from all of the the good that a staff has done. I will continue going to this bar, like I have for the past 4-odd years that I've been here. Now, if I have to deal with this same ignorant behavior, I experienced with this particular person -- I will personally name them on my updated post. Hopefully, that won't be the case. read more

Love this bar. Only thing I dislike is that you never know when it will be full or empty.. The backyard is nice in the warmer weather. It's a bit more upscale of a bar, they actually take their cocktails somewhat seriously, so if you want to drink vodka crans, seabreezes, and pound PBR's all night you might as well skip it. (They have none of those - no fruit juice, and their beers are all actually good beer.) Why am I seeing a photo of buttermilk fried chicken???!! I want that!! I thought their menu only had a patty melt, a grilled cheese, chicken strips and like, olives or something... Anyway, the patty melt is great if you are hungry. read more

I went there for the first time last week and ended up going three more times since. The staff was convivial, informed about their craft and even made an off menu cocktail for a friend, which though not to my taste, my friend said was perfect. For my tastes, the Caufield's Dream was a dream. It tastes so good, I literally have to force myself not to drink it like a shot. The atmosphere inside is wonderful. The low-level lighting, decoration, nice bar top, and lack of outdoor signage etc. combined gives the place a feel as if you've just discovered a little gem. Which considering the neighborhood is kinda true. The back patio has a garden feel to it, abundant seating and an awning and seating are under construction. I'm hoping that they put a back bar there too, as the way in which the seating surrounding the bar is set up could make it difficult to get drinks when the place gets busy. Now as for the prices, let me just say that I am someone that knows how to and likes to save a buck wherever possible. When I was hopping freights on the train lines of the northeast at 16 years old I would often drink mouthwash to get drunk as it was cheaper than bum wine and that way I also didn't have to buy a toothbrush, toothpaste, gum. Anyway, that said, the drinks here are well priced. Yes, the spicy shot and sol combo is so more unique than the typical shot beer combo, but so is the everything on the menu. read more

Great hidden bar in Bushwick with nice backyard-patio. Love it. Thanks Justin L. for taking me. Cute drink names, i.e. a drink named for Holden Caulfield. *Bring mosquito repellent for a hot summer night. Eeks! read more

Warning: This is a cash only bar.

Neat bar. Pretty solid cocktails. Nothing extraordinary but were well balanced and executed. Life didn't change, but you know, it was chill. I'd call it the neighborhood speakeasy with no story, but a little space and extreme simplicity. read more

The Narrows boasts delicious drinks, a great backyard and cozy booths, and streamlined decor that matches the old-fashioned-with-a-twist cocktails. The Caulfield's Dream is delicious and my special favorite, but everything on the menu is pretty tasty. They also have a full bar + beer if you're not feeling fancy. If I could magically make all the drinks about $1 cheaper, I'd be here probably all the time. read more

This was a pre-gaming bar for my boyfriend and I before we had dinner at nearby Roberta's. I had been once before and really liked it, especially considering the other bars in the area. This time around, however, we discovered the back patio and I absolutely loved it. For a Friday night around 7:30 p.m., it was really quite chill - not too many people were around. Still, it was lively enough and we enjoyed the beautiful evening out back. The cocktails were great and the service was friendly. I would definitely come back here. read more

A tiny gin joint with sophisticated drinks and a lovely interior. Classy without pretensions. You could roll in wearing mega-heels with your friend in jorts on a bike and both be happy. And your friend could park said bike in a designated spot by the door. They'll give you a solid craft brew or a super-complicated absinthe concoction. Hell, you can order a shot of Chartreuse. And a Bud light. Heavy on the Brooklyn vibe. read more

Now that they've got some food options (nothing mind blowing), expanded the seating area and put a mirror behind the bar, this place is hard to beat if you want to drink like an adult in Bushwick. Easily the best date place for miles. And you can tell people know this because I saw at least 9 first dates happening at this place around 8PM on a Wednesday. Their cocktails have improved and they're all $10 or below. At some point I really think they'll have to start taking cards. CASH ONLY for now. read more

I love this place. I heard about this place from another person that lives in Bushwick. I think all the great bars popping up all over the place is wonderful. This place offers a respite from Wreck Room. They have solid drinks here. And the jalapeno shot and sol for $6, as mentioned by others here is the way to go. The backyard is really spacious for you smokers and people that like hanging out outside. The indoors is a little narrow, but cozy and dark. Love the Morgan Old Fashion... Babushka is also another fav. More here: http://www.feedingumi.com/2010/10/narrows-bar/ read more

Not a bad place at all. Good beer selection. Service wasn't the best though. Bartender sort of ignored me (there was no one else at the bar ordering drinks and it was really quiet) and was a little snobby when I finally got her attention. I think she was having a bad day or something! The indoors is definitely 'narrow' but the backyard is really nice. Also, they barely have signage, so it's easy to miss this place. read more

Love this place. It feels like a neighborhood bar (and it is!), but just a touch nicer. Great cocktail menu, super friendly bartenders, good selection of beers. The backyard is a hidden gem in Bushwick -- in addition to plenty of lawn furniture, there's a sort of covered bar area outside as well. It's rarely busy during the day and I love to come out here with a book or magazine, sip on a beer, and enjoy the summer. It's pricier than your average local watering hole, but well worth it. read more

The Good: - $8-$11 dollar cocktails (boozy and high quality) - Approachable Bartenders - Cool Art Deco Decor The Bad: - Couldn't make 1/3 of the cocktails on the menu because of lack of ingredients - Wasn't that packed, but ended up standing at the bar. Overall - Decent cocktail bar with prices that don't make you cry. I'll be back in the summer for the backyard. read more

Really like this place. It's hard to find since it's kind of disguised from the outside, but the inside is nice. There's also a rocking backyard and garden which is awesome.
