Came here to celebrate my birthday with friends and it was a great time. They have nice patio space on the back, the decor is funky, and we booked their "secret" karaoke room for 3 hours which was dope. Their karaoke set up isn't as good as the ones in Korea town but it does the job. We could also bring in outside food which was convenient. I loooved all the tiger paintings . The one complaint was the quality of the drinks, we got margaritas and they were really bad unfortunately. They tasted like it used pre mix and the salt chunks were huge. Came here late night after a wrap party, and we just wanted to keep the evening going. So I hopped in an Uber with some friends and ended up at Goldie's. Loved the atmosphere, good music, Vegas decor and just a young fun crowd. All the prices are very reasonable, and the cocktails are simple, I love me a craft cocktail but sometimes it's nice to be able to have a simple classic. The vibe is Vegas back in the day, not necessarily rat pack but more early 90's when times were simple and our biggest concern was a stain on a dress. The bar is horseshoe shaped, there's booths for a crowd, pool tables. Plus cool portraits to look at Past that I can't say much, since I just enjoyed some gin and tonics! I'm not sure I'm young and hip enough to know what "it" is anymore, but whatever it is, Goldie's has got it. Just a cool, fun, kitschy spot to spend a night throwing back a few while regaling in the vintage, off-strip Vegas-y nightclub vibe. Cocktails are well-made (particularly enjoyed a quality old-fashioned), though I'd consider it a bit more of a beer-and-shot place. Beer options ran the gamut from MGD to craft, and there were enough options for the wine drinkers in the crowd. Prices are quite reasonable by city standards. Music is background, but quite cool. Whether you secure a seat of honor next to the ceramic cheetah statue, hang in the back area shooting some pool, belly up to the spacious horseshoe bar, or enjoy the excellent outdoor area, you'll feel cooler than cool. In fact, perhaps it was all those beers (and couple of shots) but we had so much fun, half of our party made the rare move of buying Goldie's souvenir t-shirts. What a cool little spot! I had zero expectations except that they would have frozen drinks on a 90 degree summer day. The decor is super cute and certainly sticks to a retro gold theme in the best way - almost glam but not really. I love a circular bar, it feels more communal and friendly than sitting in a line. There is also a cute very lush back patio; however, since it was hot and the patio seemed crowded and partially closed off for an event, we sat inside. My friend and I opted for the frozen margaritas, as that was the only frozen option, although the menu listed frosé - I believe their slush machine was down. All frozen drinks were $12 - it probably could have been $10. It was tasty and refreshing, very light but didn't entirely taste like a margarita, maybe because it did not have salt? The beer selection looked legit and was mostly priced $5-7. The bartender offered us complimentary slices of pizza as the private event hosts ordered too many - what a nice surprise! This is a great spot to pop in if you're in the area. There were only a few folks when we arrived but a gradual steam was coming in by the time we left. Goldie's is a phenomenon. Thank the staff. I moved to Greenpoint in 2003. I have seen a lot of exceptional bars come and go, in and around the neighborhood. So I say with confidence that Goldie's is something special. They've nailed the design of the place, they keep the prices reasonable, they play good music at a volume that doesn't compete with conversation, and the staff are top notch and on point. There's usually something of a crowd there (weekend nights especially), but it stays remarkably friendly no matter. Maybe it's the horseshoe-shaped bar, maybe it's the Pepperidge Farm Goldfish, or maybe it's that third shot of well tequila, but I've seen few other places where utter strangers strike up conversations so regularly and consistently. Or don't, and still have a fine time. It's weird like that, but good weird. Go and see. By the way, the few shitty Yelp reviews about Goldie's I've noticed seem wildly out of touch, or, at best, misunderstandings that could, and probably should, have been laughed off next visit. I've befriended many of the late-shift bartenders, and I've seen them endure puerile, venomous patrons on super-busy nights. They somehow manage to brush it off with aplomb. But I've not ever witnessed a patron get something for which he or she didn't ask. Be nice folks, they're just drinks. read more

Goldie's is a great bar for the Brooklyn crowd who appreciates an appropriately priced beer and a nice patio that closes at a weird time. Goldie's is super hip, dark, and swanky. They do have a patio, but like I mentioned earlier (shade), it closes before the bar does to appease the neighborhood. We were slightly inconvenienced, but I love the fact that they care about the 'hood, so good on Goldie's. This place feels like an Austin bar, in fact, when I visited my Austin friend was there too. The staff is very attentive despite the crowd so I was able to enjoy a multitude of different drinks. Clean bathroom and they also offer pool to play in the back. Goldie's has become something of a go-to spot for an intimate conversation (ssshhhh). There is a sandwich shop about a block away from Goldie's called The Standard, and you can get a fantastic $8 sandwich and carry it in to eat at one of the high-top tables in the bar (they don't have a kitchen, so like most places it's okay if you bring in your own hot food). Pair that with a $3 special draft or a $6 bottle, and maybe a side of Goldfish crackers, and you're in for a leisurely DIY dinner date. It's a neighborhood place that isn't a "dive" but is slightly kitchy. The staff are friendly, and it seems like usually at least one of the people sitting around the bar is a friend of theirs. read more

After being sent back inside by the bouncer, this bartender proceeded to grab the closest full pint glass, storm to the front of the bar yet again, and smash the glass against a window sending shards and beer flying every which way. I understand that people are flawed and that mistakes happen. But it's important that you--a hub for community and nightlife in our neighborhood--understand that your patrons and supporters go to Goldie's to escape the toxic, violent, and petty displays of male entitlement that bombard us on a daily basis; not to be further subjected to them. The man-child behind your bar put all of Goldie's patrons in danger. His temper tantrum was a violation of a space that should be safe and sacred for its supporters, and it was an embarrassment for you as a neighborhood institution. Made an account just to write this review: This place has a personality problem. It's difficult to have a problem with any bar of this caliber because the drinks they serve are not complex. My problem with this bar stems from the fact that the staff are some of the most unfriendly people that have ever been stuffed in a room together. Seriously, it's like they get off on making their customers feel bad. Like a lot of bars in Brooklyn, Goldie's is located on the ground floor level of a small apartment building. The bar has a sizable outdoors space which would be great to use during the summer months, however, the staff routinely come outside to hush people because they are worried about the noise. I totally understand wanting to be accommodating to your neighbors upstairs, but it seems a little ridiculous to even have an outdoors space if you're worried about the noise it would create for your neighbors. I've witnessed this habit of hushing on four separate occasions. I respect the fact that they respect their neighbors but it's honestly crazy to think that people at a bar are going to keep the noise to a minimum. The garden was definitely built with the purpose for it to be enjoyed because it truly is very cute and has ample amount of seating/tables, but like why even have an outdoors space if it's virtually unusable? On another occasion I was scolded at the bar while closing my tab because the bartender claimed I tipped too low. When I went back my booth of friends to say goodbye the bartender came over a second time and scolded me again for the tip. First off, the bill was $100 and I tipped $20. Honestly I thought that tip was too much because 1) the bartender was flirting w. another customer for 10 minutes before she finally got around to taking my order 2) because I was literally ordering the easiest drinks to make. If they were making cocktails or something I would totally understand the logic of demanding a higher tip, but the drinks I was ordering were literally like tecates and gts-not difficult. If you're going to be so sanctimonious about respecting your neighbors, why not spread the love and just pay your employees a better hourly rate. I've seen a lot businesses in New York thrive because they decided to just pay their employees fairly. A $20 tip was generous and publicly scolding me twice for it was embarrassing, rude, and completely unnecessary. read more
