I came to O'Neill's for a meeting of a Kiwanis Club where I was going to be the speaker. It was an easy ride from Long Island and being so close the the LIE exit made it very easy to get to. The valet parking just made it easier. We were in a large side room based on the amount of people we had (30+). The place is very rustic and comfortable. We had two servers working together and they did a fabulous job together. I had my pub favorite which is a cheese burger / fries and and a beer. I wish I could have taken some more pictures of the food but I could not stop 30+ people from eating while I ran around photographing there food. lol My burger and fries were perfect. Medium and nice crispy fries. Sure made it easy. This is the kind of place that I wold like to come to more often but being in MIneola, LI does not make it convenient. I have been coming here for years, But Friday was my last. 3 adults and a child. Drinks were fine, ample toppings on the burgers was not hiding beyond well done cooked and everyone ordered med/ rare . Terrible valet service--waited 1/2 hour for our car. Hostess and manage were unable to contact the valet he finally showed up without the car and we hasd to tell him to get the car. Been here a million times and it's an always a go to spot. We recently went for a friends anniversary and they had our table ready and had no wait time. The staff was very attentive and worked fast for dealing with a party of 15. They even did cake for the celebration. The food never ever has disappointed me or anyone I know. I love the fact that it's a car scene but yet a restaurant too. It can get crowded on late nights or game days and nights but other than that I love it there. Their website screams about their "dry aged" steak, so we figured we'd give it a try. Huge mistake. The food tastes disgusting, and was actually disgusting because I was hugging porcelain all night into the next day. Took me a few days to get back to normal. Definitely not dry aged, more like rotten. Which is why they smother it with a balsamic sauce. Who does that to dry aged steak? It was mostly fat under there, lord knows where the steak went. It came with frumpy fries, that were not edible as well. We thought maybe the wings would save the day? After all. It is a bar. Nope those were slimy. When we mentioned that to the waitress, she very rudely said, "well, that's the wings." We left our food, paid the bill, and promptly left. Needless to say, never will we return. read more

Went here for St. Patrick's day and overall had a pretty great time. The receptionist had an attitude problem but the hostess Nicole was extremely helpful and kind. Food was delicious and fresh. I had the corned beef and cabbage and it was juicy fresh and yummy. Only downside is that there is no parking lot. There is valet but if you prefer to park your own car it may take a while to find parking. Our waitress was super friendly, helpful and able to deal with stress well. They suck! We found pieces of plastic in 2 bowls of lobster bisque. After the second bowl we were scared they were gonna accuse us of putting the plastic in the soup but the waitress had the kitchen strain the pot of soup and they found more bits of plastic. Thankfully the waitress checked and found more rubber pieces in the soup and discarded it so it doesn't happen to any one else. My brothers burger came out well done after he asked for medium rare. Our waitress was very nice and very sweet but the manager was on vacation and they didn't have a replacement, therefore they made us pay for the rest of the food meanwhile we had the worst experience. She then said she's trying to get in contact with her manager who was on vacation because this was unacceptable and we shouldn't have to pay for anything due to all these issues and she was right but then she told us my manager is on vacation and she not fully understanding the situation and she's sorry and she will take off the super well done burger and the lobster bisque.. the bench my mother and sister were sitting on was broken and kept rocking back and forth... their employee confirming that the lobster bisque was cooked with all that rubber in the pot is a health hazard at minimum you do not charge that table and pray the customer doesn't take further actions... any manager knows this. The worst was the bill wasn't even expensive it was 50$. The owner should really consider who he has in trusted to manage their business.... read more

I thought that this place was pretty good. I visited it on a Friday right before teachers started their holiday break and it was pretty crowded. There were some really good things that they had going for them and a couple that they might want to work on. Here are some of the things that I thought stood out as being very positive. They had live music going on and the guy that was playing was very talented. They also brought out these sandwiches that were being carved in front of you. This sandwich was crazy good. They had happy hour drink specials too. Here are some things that they could look to improve on. The bartender was drinking too much and wasn't all that great. It seemed like she was popular and had some regulars but for a person checking out the establishment for the first time she was a mess. I'd order a beer and she would go to get it and would get distracted along the way. 5 minutes later I would re-order. I am ok with poor service but this was a weird type of bad service. The guy who was making the sandwich suggested that I give him a tip. I thought this was very unprofessional and was thrown off by this. The tap beer tasted a little gross. Altogether I thought this was a chill place. The live music and awesome complimentary sandwich made it a solid spot to enjoy a couple of happy hour drinks. read more

Prior to O'Neills closing, I would make the drive from Forest Hills to Maspeth as I felt it was the best location to watch multiple sporting events. No matter your spectator sport of choice, O'Neills had the TV's and the great service to make every Sunday during football season a worthy excursion. The soul of the old O'Neills seems to be fully in tact as service and friendliness were not compromised. It still has all the feel of a local bar, but with two very welcome upgrades. (There are obviously more than two upgrades to the new build out, I'm just touching on two) Obviously the new high definition TV'S really make a difference to the sportsfan in me, but the menu has also undergone some very impressive and delicious changes. **The Yelp Elite event a few weeks back allowed me the opportunity to sample most all appetizer menu items and one was better than the next. I intend to sit for dinner in the next week and write an updated review on my findings. I'm completely convinced that O'Neills will deliver in fine fashion. read more
