While Maspeth isn't known for much of anything, O'Neill's is one of the true relics of Queens after having been a staple in the borough for over 80 years. When a fire swallowed up its old space years back, I was afraid they'd never come back. They've since rebounded with a bigger space and a revamped operation, resulting in the biggest (and most well recognized) establishment in the hood. For some old timers, it probably feels like O'Neill's never left. They have done a great job coming back into relevance with a huge space. The bar is massive, there are TVs located all throughout the venue, and it's become a multi-faceted venue with themed rooms and dedicated private spaces. It's pretty impressive overall. Their menu encompasses a wide range of classics ranging from Irish heavy to diner-esque items. It's hard to nail down a specialty considering they have so many variations of burgers, salads, sandwiches, bar food, pasta, pizza, and kid-friendly items. I was the most impressed with their portion friendly salads and solid sandwich sizes (read: huge). Personally, I think they shine with their wings (which comes in over 20 sauces) and a surprisingly good selection of steaks. For $48 a person, one can indulge in a porterhouse that comes with a bevy of sides. It won't make people stop going to Peter Luger's anytime soon, but I think it's great that they even have the option. It is a really decent alternative to a steakhouse, especially for people who have the hankering but not the desire to go all the way. Service does vary somewhat, I've had my share of awesome waitresses and lackadaisical ones. Typically the older ones have been more attentive than the younger bunch, but the busier the place is, the more opportunities for service pitfalls. Lastly, the parking is a challenge anywhere in the hood. Somehow O'Neill's has managed to figure out a way to park the cars somewhere, but their valet service is a rather clutch aspect of their amenities. Went to O'Neill's after a long day. First time there and don't think I'll be going back. I spent almost as much time finding a parking spot as I did in the restaurant, ended up parking illegally in front of a fire hydrant! I know this is obviously not something the restaurant can control but, it was very frustrating. Great atmosphere would recommend going there only if you live in the neighborhood or the parking gods are in your favor. The Guinness' were great The food was so so, nothing special. The wait staff was lacking attentiveness , as we were a table of approximately 10, ordered a few appetizers (along with meals) and were not given silverware nor appetizer plates. I ended up getting them myself. It was "wing night," so a little busy but not busy enough that we should have to sit there waiting for plates while our food got cold. I went there because a good friend mentioned it. It was okay nothing crazy.. To be honest I felt cheated as well. The point of a porterhouse is to have a piece of the filet and a piece of the ny strip as you can see from the photo it looks like they cut the filet out and left the ny strip with the onion rings to cover it up. To be honest I didnt even realize until have way through the meal. The meat also cooked inconsistently partially medium partially rare. The glazed bacon which tasted more of a slightly burnt ham steak with a sweet glaze was nothing to jump over either My friend who had the sirloin... when she cut into it it was like mush and highly doubt their claims of "prime" beef is real. Ordered lunch delivery via Doordash. I had been here long ago way before the fire that shut them down for a while. Ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer and a burger as the main dish. Ordering was easy and I was able to track the driver's progress on my laptop. When he was close, I went downstairs to wait. Now, I live at the end of a dead end block. While I was on my stoop I saw a car come half-way down, turn around and go back. I knew it was my food. Well, after about another 7 minutes I see the same car at the corner. The guy leaves the car and walks down the street toward me. It was my food. He apologized and I smiled and told him, "Next time,go all the way down the street before you turn around. I was standing here the entire time." He sheepishly walked away. When I got upstairs, the sticks were still warm enough to not need some nuking. They were ordinary at best. The burger was a different story. It was still hot. And absolutely delicious. It filled the bun and then some. Juices flowing out all sides. I also got a large order of steak fries. They did need about 20 seconds in the microwave to get hot again. But excellent. Next time I think I will call the restaurant directly and see if they will deliver. I came here for super bowl night. The staff was very accomodating. We got here late on a busy night and they still made room for us to dine in and watch the game. We ordered appetizers mostly. I got the French onion soup which was perfect! Tasty, cheesy, oniony, even my friend that hates onions loved this soup. My husband got the raw oysters and they were so fresh and delicious. I've been coming here for all sorts of family events- baptisms, graduations, funerals- for years, and O'Neill's is consistently great. Last weekend I hosted a bridal shower here for a dear friend, and they were on top of their game, as usual. We had a lovely brunch buffet in a private room, and Mary took excellent care of us the entire time. Not only was she pleasant and friendly, but super quick with the service as well. Any time a guest asked for a drink and turned around, Mary was at their elbow, beverage in hand. She even offered to help us set up, and essentially took care of the clean up on her own too. We also brought cookies, in addition to the cake provided by the restaurant, and Mary thought to bring out fancy plates and paper doilies for us to stage them on (I was ready to leave them in the box). The entire experience was just stress free from beginning to end and the food is consistently good. The prices for private parties are very reasonable and the booking process is very chill too, no high pressure sales pitch to get you to spend more. O'Neills's Bar is a great place. My favorite night to visit is Monday night because they have great wings specials. The place gets pretty busy so go early. I held a small get together at this restaurant today after my grandmother was just buried. The service at this restaurant was absolutely horrendous. The waiters and waitresses were extremely cold and just straight out rude. The hostess didn't even welcome us with a smile, just referred to us as the 'funeral party'. O'neils is literally 2 blocks away from where I live. I remember we used to come here every night before they were burned to ashes. Still visit them very often. If you want wings, this is definitely a place to visit. They have a huge bar, and offer other food as well from seafood to steaks. Horribly service and rude waitresses; My friend and I waited about 15-20 minutes just for a waitress to give us a menu! another ten minutes pass before she comes back to take our orders. Came here actually for a well coordinated Yelp event which I was invited by the Mrs. Food was surprisingly good. I've been hearing about O'Neill's since forever, probably since I was in junior high. I've also heard they burned down and reopened again which is great news, otherwise I wouldn't of had the chance to try their food. My son had a play date with his friend in the neighborhood and we decided to order a broccoli pizza pie and an order of chicken wings. When it comes to pizza, I'm usually the thin crispy crust type. I'm not crazy about floppy wet pizza. However, at O'Neill's, they surprised me. The cheese they used was different from most pizzerias. Not your ordinary cheap mozzarella cheese. It looked like the type of cheese you would find in a margherita. The pie itself was pretty heavily wet from the amount of sauce and cheese that was put on, plus the broccoli. From an aerial view of the pie, it looked delicious, from a view when you fold your slice, it looked terrible. It was super floppy. But after the first bite, I didn't care anymore. The flavors were all there. Good sauce with good cheese is what counts. I can overlook the crust on this one. My 2 year old son liked it so much, he asked for seconds. The chicken wings here are legit. Crispy and golden. Job well done here. I was surprised to find the wings to be still so crispy after picking it up and after a 8 minute drive home. Also, their wings don't include egg in their batter, in case you have egg allergies. Upon picking up our order, I took a quick glance around their restaurant and bar. We have tried to be supportive of O'Neil's during this pandemic by ordering to go orders once a week. For the most part the food was ok and we did love their pork chops with mashed sweet potatoes and apple sauce. Recently on a Sunday we decided to eat outside and were very dissatisfied. We ordered the pork chop dinners- 25$ each- and it was so dry and tasteless. There was only one chop, normally we get 2, and there was no apple sauce. When I had to enter the restaurant to use the restroom I was shocked at how crowded the restaurant was inside. The bar area was packed with football fans and the booths were completely occupied with patrons. I witnessed mo social distancing at all and in the restroom there were no paper towels only air dryers which are dangerous to use during the pandemic. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

I have hosted a few private parties here. The food is good and the packages are super affordable. They are consistently good, which I appreciate. My husband frequents the restaurant for Monday wing nights. Tons of tvs to watch any games going on and lots of bar seating.
