I love coming here but unfortunately on Sunday's they have a bartender who first of all does not know how to make a drink. I always come here and enjoy the food and the ambiance and Gabriel is amazing with the drinks. I came on Sunday to eat but also was watching the World Cup which I'm very aware that they close at 10pm. As I was eating and watching the game all you can see is the bartender looking at his watch every second and looking at the customers so we can see is time for us to leave. I'm not kidding it was every second... so rude!! I still had a good 30 minutes to 10pm but this bartender was rude looking at his watch. We were watching the game and 10 minutes before closing he turned off the tv right on our face. Ughhh I felt like saying something but stood shut. When we left and drove off and as we drove by the place the bartender has the nerve to turn the tv back on. When we arrived, there were only two groups ahead of us, and the manager appeared to be handling seating. As time passed, it became clear that my party should have been next. Instead, another group walked in after us, and I watched as a table was cleaned and prepared for five people. I approached the manager to confirm whether we were being seated next. He acknowledged that I was right, admitted he remembered speaking with me earlier, but said the table was for five people. Despite that, he still seated the other party before us. By this point, our wait was well over 20 minutes. I even confirmed that the other group did not have a reservation--which would have been the only explanation that made sense. I've worked in the restaurant industry for over 20 years, and this kind of oversight completely ruins the experience. It's the simple things that matter. After one of my favorite Peruvian restaurants closed on Northern Blvd, I've been trying to find a replacement. I found that this restaurant has come very close. It has a very chill and spacious ambiance with a nice bar. The service was great as the staff greeting us immediately and was very attentive throughout our dinner. The food was delicious and both the green sauce and garlic sauce for the tostones put the flavor over the top. We plan to visit in the near future. read more

so I've been going to Pio Pio for years (in various locations.) I loved the original place on Woodhaven Boulevard, But it's no longer there. So I decided to check out the new one on Metropolitan Avenue. our way it was really not on the ball at all. Also, I feel like the staff doesn't speak English very well. Actually, they don't speak Spanish that great either. My friend ordered in Spanish. I ordered in English and it just seemed to be confusing. We asked for water several times my mother never actually ever gave it to us. We had a flagged down somebody else and he was nice enough to do it. I will wait I really didn't check on us. And we sat around waiting for our food really long. There were other tables that came after us and got their food way before us. The food was good. The experience wasn't so great. This is by far the best location. The dishes are presented really well and all staff are friendly and attentive. The lomo saltado was cooked perfectly, I asked for medium rare and they gave us just that. The calamari was excellent. And the lunch special was so filling and worth it. read more

The simplicity of their business model specializing in just Peruvian roast chicken really appeals to me. I love specialty stores. Therefore, I had quite a bit of reservation about this much larger new location with a huge menu. For that reason, it took me a while before visiting this branch. Thankfully, my worries were unwarranted. Our meal this past weekend was fantastic. Flavors were great and food was all cooked very well. We already knew the chicken was going to be tasty, but we were all really impressed with pretty much everything. We began with some Anticuchos that were grilled to perfection and paired with a delicious sauce. Moving onto the Cebiches Mxto, which had very tender seafood that was swimming in just the right amount of acidity. These were both amazing appetizers. For entrees, along with Juanita's Chicken, we shared two other wonderful dishes. The Arroz con Mariscos was extremely flavorful. Most importantly, all the seafood was cooked properly and not overdone. As for the Lomo Saltado, they use filet mignon instead of the typical cuts most other restaurants do. Hence, the price is higher than usual, but the beef is also more tender. The rich sauce was superb. Btw, we ordered a side of Fried Yuca, which was yummy too. Now that I have finally experienced this new Pio Pio, I'm glad to report that it passed with flying colors. I will be returning regularly for their roast chicken and apparently a whole lot more. read more

When going to any Pio Pio you will always get a great comforting meal with great combos that can feed many. The chicken always hits.

The food at Pio Pio 11 is consistent with their other locations. We ordered the Matador combo, which comes with a whole chicken, yellow rice, beans, salchipapa and avocado salad, all served family style. It also comes with tostones but they allowed us to substitute it with the maduros. Everything was delicious; my favorite side was the maduros, which had the crispy caramelized exterior and soft and sweet on the inside. The chicken was roasted perfectly and moist, not dry at all. And that famous green sauce - it's like crack, so deliciously addictive. There were 3 of us, and this was entirely way too much food to eat in one setting, so our server kindly packed all the leftovers up for us (with plenty of green sauce), and the food was great as lunch the next day. The restaurant is fairly large, but was completely packed the night we went. It was very loud in there, which was surprising to me because nearly every table were families with young kids (ours included). The kid did not seem to be bothered by it at all, but I think my next visit will be an adults only outing. The loud music and strong drinks would make it a very lively atmosphere for a night out with friends. read more

This location is a lot bigger than Woodhaven blvd & has better parking than both Woodhaven blvd & Northern Blvd. Quick, friendly service. The menu is a little bit different, best part is the $14.50 special which includes 1/4 chicken, salad, & a side. My go to is white meat with rice & beans. We also had Avocado salad & salchipapa's, everything was delicious. Quality & taste on par with established locations. We now order takeout about once per week. The food is consistently fresh and delicious. We love the green sauce. It's a little more spicy than what we are used to, but we love it now. We always need to order extra green sauce. The service is outstanding both in the restaurant and for take out. Corvina in the ceviche is delicious. Tostones are good too along with the garlic dip on the side. The avocado salad is flavorful and the dressing is light and tart. Best is the green sauce. Now that they've opened in the Metropolitan/Forest Hills area, my taste buds and I couldn't be happier. I love the Arroz Chaufa with chicken. It has just the right balance of flavors with eggs, bean sprouts, scallions, and soy sauce. An added bonus is the generous portion size. While the restaurant is great for family-style dining, I personally enjoy ordering for myself and having leftovers. I also highly recommend the sangria, it's a must! This location has plenty of tables and is definitely in the right neighborhood. Metered parking is available, and there's also the option to park in the nearby residential area. I was excited to hear they opened a sister location close to home I've enjoyed the original spot and was hopeful this one would be just as good. Unfortunately, the experience didn't meet expectations. I called an hour and a half before arriving to make a reservation for a party of six. The woman on the phone confirmed it was no problem, but when we arrived, the host brought us to a table set for four and scrambled to find two more chairs. It felt like they weren't prepared at all for our reservation. Our server was polite, but not very attentive. We had to ask multiple times for water refills, and one of our dishes, a ceviche platter, never came out with the rest of the food. We tried to get the server's attention, but he was busy chatting with another table and didn't check in with us for a while. I understand things can get hectic during peak hours, but compared to their other location, the service here felt disorganized and slow. It even took about 20 minutes after clearing our plates to receive the check. I really wanted to love this new spot, but the experience was underwhelming overall.
