Beef stew lunch special - The image shows a round aluminum takeout container filled with yellow rice, beef stew with sauce, two fried plantains, and a small plastic cup of sauce or dressing. The container is placed on a wooden surface, with part of a small cup visible in the background. The food appears to be a traditional Peruvian dish served for takeout or delivery.

I've been meaning this place since I love me some Peruvian chicken. I finally ordered lunch from here through their website for pick up. The ordering experience was pretty good. I didn't realized where this was located and it's on Austin street and Yellowstone Blvd by the police station. The significance of this is that it's incredibly difficult to drive through here because of the ridiculous traffic. It took quite a while to pick up the food even though I live a little more than a mile away. I order the beef stew which literally only had 3 pieces of beef and the quarter chicken. Note the regular menu quarter chicken and 2 sides is the same price except they're fixed sides while the lunch special allows you to choose from a wide variety. The chicken was one of the better chickens I have had, if it weren't for the location I would probably order pick up more often. The beef stew was also delicious but the portion was just so small...

Great tasting chicken! We got the whole roasted chicken and it was ready very quickly. Well seasoned, flavorful, and rather moist!

tiny piece of fish in fish burroto - The image features a fish burrito with a fried fish fillet, shredded vegetables including purple cabbage, lettuce, and carrots, all wrapped in a crispy shell. The burrito is placed on a marble surface, highlighting its presentation as a dish from a Peruvian restaurant offering traditional dishes like ceviche and pollo a la brasa.

*fish burrito-1/5 there was such little fish and not much flavor. *tres leches 3/5- cake was good and moist but frosting was not very pleasant *chicken soup 3/5- decent flavor but also had to pull apart chicken ad it came in one whole piece in the soup My mom enjoyed her lomito saltado and ny husband his pollo saltdado 3/5

Aguadito de Pollo. Nice portion size for price. Hearty. Lightly flavored as expected - A bowl of Aguadito de Pollo, a Peruvian chicken and vegetable soup, is shown on a wooden table. The soup contains a piece of chicken, carrots, and other vegetables in a green broth. The table also has a glass of water, a lemon wedge, and plates. The background includes a shelf with condiments and utensils, indicating a restaurant setting.

Note: Prices online are slightly more than in stores outside of the soup at least for some things. I went here with one other person around a month ago looking for a good Spanish place in the area and this Peruvian place popped up. We sat down and it took a while to be served almost so much so that we left but once we started ordering, the woman there became friendlier partially I guess because I ordered in Spanish but who knows. The space is casual with low music. To drink I got a Chicha Morada for $3 or in short a purple corn drink with some spices. This was a tasty version though slightly less spiced than some other places and I would recommend it heavily. They also gave us some cancha or roasted corn nuts to munch on with a couple sauces. As I had already eaten, I decided to go with two appetizers and the person who was with me went with the Aji De Gallina and they started with some Empanadas. My dishes were the Aquadito de Pollo and the Ceviche De Pescado. I think the former was around $10 in the latter was maybe $15 or $16. The former is listed as a soup with chicken, cilantro, vegetables and rice and I have had it before and the portion size was quite large. It's a comforting soup that is quite green because of cilantro so if you're someone who finds that cilantro is soapy, I would highly recommend not getting it. The soup is quite hearty with plenty of herbs as well as some chunks of potato and a large chicken leg. The dish apparently traditionally has offal in it but I have not seen that variant in many places in the city. It was good but my other dish was better. The Ceviche de Pescado or Fish Ceviche consisting of fresh raw fish tossed in lime juice with cilantro, rocoto pepper & red onions and served with sweet potato, cancha, and Peruvian corn was better. The portion size was generous and the fish was outstanding. I'm not exactly sure what fish they use but it had a slight firmness and it wasn't overly sour. The pepper added a little bit of spice and there was a bit of sweetness from the sweet potato. Outside of that, there was some corn nuts and larger pieces of corn which was bouncy. This was one of the better versions of ceviche I've had in the city and I would highly recommend it. I presume their Mixed Ceviche/Ceviche Mixto is just as good if not better but I couldn't order it as I'm allergic to squid. The other person started with the empanadas; specifically the spinach and cheese. I only tried a bit of it but it was fresh and tasty and I think it was maybe $10 for three large ones or something similar. Their main dish was also outstanding; the Aji de Gallina for I think $16 consisting of shredded chicken in a creamy aj amarillo, Parmesan cheese, and pecans sauce. This was served with jasmine rice, boiled potatoes, egg & olive. I've had this dish in other places and this was either the best or one of the best I've tried. It was rich with some slight but balanced sweetness and a bit of spiciness. The portion size was also again pretty generous. I would recommend it also. As we were both very full, we didn't bother having dessert but I presume desserts here are pretty good as well as everything else was good. I would go back. Mid 4 for the outstanding ceviche/aji de gallina at reasonable prices.

We got the combo special, which comes with a whole chicken, salchipapas, salad, rice, maduros, beans, 4 oz of green sauce, and 1.5 oz of salad dressing. I love the dressing, and honestly, those portions weren't enough, so we ordered extra for $1.50--but it was tiny. Really wish they weren't so stingy with the sauces, but I called and the lady was super strict about it for takeout "no extras unless you pay". The fries were clearly old, which was a letdown, but overall, the food was okay. Probably wouldn't order again, though.

    Chaufa de Mariscos

It was really good food, no matter what we got. The food took a little while to cook but overall, my seafood was cooked to perfection. I'm excited to try the other dishes on the menu. We got the Pescado a lo Macho and Chaufa de Mariscos.

    1 Peruvian Rotisserie Chicken (solo)

I ordered a whole chicken for work for the rest of the week. What arrived was an overcooked and burnt chicken. I contacted them and the lady who answered said that she had packed it up herself and that she thought that it was fine. She said that rotisserie chicken is supposed to be well done. I explained that I am used to Peruvian chicken so I know what it's supposed to look like. Her attitude was not apologetic or helpful at all!!!! I will not recommend Amar Peruvian Kitchen or order from them ever again!!!!

    1/4 chicken, Yuca Fries

i don't think people have caught on to how elite peruvian food is. this spot is awesome. something for everyone. 1/4 chicken, yuca fries, skirt steak fried rice, a beautiful frozen lemonade, and the iced coffee is the real stuff. so good. green sauce on everything. great service and won't break the bank.

    Sweet Plantain
    Johnny Y.

Is it odd to say that the sweet plantains was the highlight of this order? Perfectly caramelized plantains with slightly crisp edges! Went well with the yellow rice & Beans. I was a bit skeptical on their chicken. Mainly cause it was blacken to the point where most may or would say it's burnt...? It was definitely cooked to the point of doneness. If it was eaten alone it would've probably wouldn't be as good but with the green sauce on everything it worked it's way to Mmm.. goodness! The $3.00 Cocada. Was a bit deceiving as the photo showed that it was several pieces... vs 1.. As if someone just ate the rest and left a huge container of just 1. Not sure if it was our driver... or it's really just 1 piece. Just be warned. First time having the Chicha Morada which is a purple corn, mix fruit drink. Pretty good on it's own. I deluded it with some pineapple seltzer to give it a bit of fizz. Overall the food was good. Questionable on the dessert but I would try again on other selections.

Had this spot for takeout and it was really good. CHAUFA MARISCOS*** The way they fry this rice is really hard to find. I would consider this on the EXCELLENT fried rice that really takes it to a level better than most other places. I know only of one place that fries their rice like this and they moved to Brooklyn. But yes, seafood fried rice with an amazingly fluffy, warm, subtle crispiness and you can taste the separate grains of rice, but not at all dry, and nice flavor from all the seafood that they make sure not to skimp out on. A+ ! LOMO SALTADO*** Lots of onion, well-seasoned pieces of steak, and not sure if the fries are meant to be soggy or just because they come in the takeout container together, but I kind of liked the soup/sauce dousing the fries and you get these warm, soupy potatoes. Probably still better if it were warm and crisp but not complaining. AMAR SALAD** Also really good; the dressing is light and bright, and there's lots of crunch from different components like radish which I love a crunchy salad. EMPANADAS Takeout is always going to deteriorate the quality of empanadas but it was a nice doughy skin with a good chew to it, and the meat was well flavored, nothing too soupy or soggy. PERUVIAN CHICKEN Tender rotisserie Peruvian chicken with green sauce- can't really go wrong. Hits the spot.

The half chicken was sizable; moist white meat was indicative of quality preparation. The ceviche was also well portioned though overly sour at the bottom level. Tamale was respectable, not necessarily standing out nor lacking.

I thought it was just okay, but everyone else who tried the Peruvian chicken loved it. L's mom said it's better than the places in JH but I wouldn't go the places she has for Peruvian chicken. I only ate a lil bit. The green sauce is a bit too creamy for me but L loved it. Again it's just okay but I'm not really a huge fan of Peruvian chicken since I prefer less seasoning. Just my preference. One reviewer mentioned the place being rundown, it's definitely not, it's just rustic, not every restaurant needs to be modern like the ones in the pricier places in FH. The chicken lacks something... also the chicken bones had that mushy stuff that's in the cavity that I prefer to be thoroughly washed off so it affected the taste of the Chicken for me.

A nail ---in the bottom rotisserie chicken lunch meal

In ordering food, to sad and disgusting surprise , a rusty nail (like at least 1" long" appeared at the bottom of the lunch order, of a group order.Upon returning to the site at Rego Park Forest Hills location food restaurant, the manager listened to what had occurred in their kitchen to where food was prepped and served, and replied" oh it's(referring to the nail) from the pot." The manager was rude and making excuses for objects being in the food. Not needing the money returned, the manager didn't even offer to return the money or formal apology . Extremely not cool. There's one person who works behind the counter and I assume one person who is doing the cooking. I got the pancakes with blueberries with a side of bacon and the honey cinnamon latte. My cousin got the sausage egg and cheese roll with a drip coffee. Both of our meals were delicious and so was the coffee. My cousin who doesn't drink coffee often said that the coffee here is of top quality. I'll definitely be coming back!

I heard him making jokes with customers and asking people for feedback. Now to the rest of it: service is weird and slow. When we were seated, we had to wait a little bit until receiving menus. Water wasn't automatically given to us also, so you have to ask. A woman took down our order, but later asked if we got waffles, even though I said pancakes - overall took 25 minutes to get our order of a salad and pancakes. Pancake platter came with two pancakes, two eggs, and a couple berries on the side. There's also an option to add sausage or bacon but no price there, which adds to the confusion. When we pointed it out, they removed the charge from our bill. There were maybe 3 people who stood behind the coffee bar which is kind of around a corner, making it hard to get service if you're not in their field of vision. Kind of strange there isn't a clear welcoming desk or something like that. Also, I think the menu uses AI as photos - there's a picture of a burger with fries and chips, but I don't think they serve chips. There's also a picture of cake with garlic next to it, which could be an artistic choice. We didn't get any drinks, but there was a table next to us who abandoned their full cups of Nutella lattes which was interesting.

It has very good quality food and excellent service. Other than the owner, most servers barely can communicate in English. However, I always felt welcomed and appreciated. In today's environment with so much hatred in the air, this place feels like an oasis right in my backyard. The food is always solid, with the salami breakfast plate being one of my favorites. It comes with three pieces of juicy and flavorful thick cut salami and three pieces fried cheese, two perfectly cooked running eggs, along with mashed plantains. Delicious! I also like their lunch foods, such as pernil and oxtail. The turkey wings are tasty, but a but dry. Their soups are some of my most ordered items as well. My usuals are the trip stew and cow's foot soup. If you look at the crowd, you'll notice a mix of latinos and locals who recognize this small shop as a neighborhood gem. Food: 3.5/5 We made it a point to try a range of brunch options. My grandfather ordered the sweet potato and chorizo hash, I went with the two-egg combo with pork sausage (eggs over easy), and my husband chose the Moroccan eggs. Overall, the food was good and flavorful, especially if you enjoy dishes with a bit more nuance and influence from Spanish or Mexican flavors. That said, as someone who leans more toward classic American diner-style brunch, it didn't fully hit that nostalgic spot for me. It's not that anything was bad--it just wasn't the most memorable brunch I've had. Still, it was nice to explore a different side of their menu beyond the burgers, fries, and pasta we'd tried before. Service: 4/5 The staff were genuinely kind and welcoming, which made the experience pleasant. However, they do rely on a QR code-style menu, which can be a bit of a learning curve--especially for those who prefer a more traditional ordering experience. During the brunch rush, things definitely got busy and a bit overwhelmed, so service slowed down slightly. One tip: if you already know what you want, it's best to order everything upfront to avoid delays. Vibe: 3.5/5 Like many New York spots, space is tight. Even as a party of four, we were seated at a small square table, which could be challenging if you have strollers or extra belongings. That said, the space still feels cozy and neighborhood-friendly--great for a casual brunch, just not the most spacious. All in all, It's a solid neighborhood brunch spot with interesting, flavor-forward dishes and kind service. I wouldn't call it my top brunch destination, but I'd come back if I were in the area--especially if I was craving something a little different from the usual diner fare.
