I hadn't been in so long. When a friend asked where should we go for dinner while walking down Austin and passing Mojo, I knew it was a sign that we had to head eat here. This place was hopping for a Tuesday night and the Latin vibes were vibing. We were seated upstairs and even though it was a lively night I was still able to have an intimidate convo with my friend. The menus were digital and lit up when you opened them. It was such a cool touch. Delaney was our server and she was THE BEST! She definitely needs to win Server of the month because her reccs were spot on. She also spaced everything out perfectly, allowing us to have time to catch up between courses. We went for brunch on a Saturday and had a great time. It was very crowded so definitely get a reservation especially with a larger group, we had 7 people and luckily got a reservation a week before. They won't seat until the entire party arrives. There's no parking lot but Queens Blvd usually has some parking if you go early enough. Service is great. Waiters were constantly refilling our water and checking in with us. Our food came out quick and the timing from apps to entrees was perfect. I opted out of the churro pancakes this time around because I remembered how dry they were. My friend got them and I tried them to see if maybe it was just a one time thing but they were just as dry this time around. I did love everything I got this time around. I got the fried calamari and the tres golpes. Very decent amount of food for the prices. Drinks were really good and if you sign up for their rewards card, you can get a free appetizer for the table. I had a pretty good lunch here. I just came across this place as a spur of the moment thing looking for a random restaurant to review and this place certainly stood out. The place is certainly huge, it has a 2nd floor but didn't get to see the upper floor because I was seated at the area near the bar on the first floor. The place gets good business since it was fairly crowded but it didn't affect the flow of service in the area. Due to the people in the restaurant I couldn't really get much pictured of inside the area but it definitely has color and the vibe of a Latin Fusion restaurant in full form. My server was a pretty young woman by the name of Andrea and she was very attentive and courteous, ever the busy worker but would occasionally check on me during my time in the restaurant. I ordered Chicken Empanadas as a starter and Chimichurri Chicken as the entree. Food was plated beautifully and tasted just as good as it looked. As far as Latin food goes, certainly Top 5. It looked good and tasted good and sometimes that doesn't always come hand to hand but they did the job here. Gladly to say, everything we had here was delicious - although, admittingly, it's also overpriced (first time I've seen a churrasco for over $40, and a lomo saltado for over $30 - both being usually common dishes. Missed the mark... After a long day of seeing family and exploring and supposedly good reviews, I decided to check this place out. I was greeted when I walked in, but that's where the "service" stopped. I sat at a table in the bar area. I had to ask for water, silverware, and a plate! Not a good start. I was feeling ravenous so I got the chips and guac to start, a passionfruit margarita, and the chicken and rice dish. The passionfruit margarita was such a let down. I think they forgot the passion because it tasted like straight sour mix. It was pretty bad and I was disappointed. The chips and guac were a nice touch and the guac was seasoned well. After devouring majority of the chips, my entree came. While the chimichurri was good, they could have had more. Once the chimichurri ran out, it was just a grilled piece of chicken. Thankfully the accompanying garlic rice and black beans made up for the catastrophe of a "chimichurri chicken breast". After I had enough, I set my plate to the side and waited for the check, and kept waiting until I had to go to the bar to settle. The hostess was flexible about my party being a little late for our reservation. The restaurant wasn't crowded for a Friday night but had a steady stream of patrons. The drinks were good. They were able to accommodate us walking in around 11:00 a.m. but would recommend making a reservation in advance as this place did fill up relatively quickly afterwards. Had a really nice interior. You dine in the upstairs section of the restaurant. When you walk in, there's a nice bar for you that you can hang out in. Their brunch menu was relatively small but had decent options with Latin Mix/inspired brunch menu items. We ordered their special of the day and their chicken and waffles. We also split an avocado tropical salad. The avocado tropical salad was nothing special. For the price you pay, you're really not getting much bang for your buck. It looked like it was a plopped together. For the Chicken and waffles, the Maduro waffles were what made it unique. The combo of syrup with the savoriness of plantains paired well together. However, the chicken was mediocre, small and not flavored which was disappointing. Dipping it in the turkey bacon gravy is a must for it to taste good. Their huevos Pericos was pretty good in my opinion. However, the tomato sauce also lacked a certain flair. Our friends got the ceviche because it was their most highly rated food item on Google. It was a perfect blend of tropical flavors with the fried umami from their seafood (calamari). The other reviews were 100% correct. My friend arrived first and waited for me. When we entered they brought us upstairs. The food was good but not amazing. There are two floors with plenty of natural lighting. My calamari was super tender but the outer coating was falling off and the dipping sauce tasted fishy. The chicken skewers were juicy and had a nice char on it. For entrees we ordered the chicken and waffles and the skirt steak and eggs. The chicken came with a bacon cheese dip and it was soooo good! My steak came with a choice of home fries or salad in which I choose the home fries. The steak was nice and tender, cooked to perfection and so flavorful!! Mojo is a great spot for a group of friends or a date night. I think their food is pretty good but I've also had better. Their drinks are good and prices are fair. This was my first time coming for brunch and it wasn't bad. Our server was pretty attentive even with there being so many parties to tend to. I do think their chicken for chicken and waffles could be a bigger portion than what it was. The chicken was for a child not an adult. Came here on a Saturday for a ladies brunch to celebrate my sisters birthday. I had made reservations with one of the managers named Lucy during the week. Lucy was very pleasant and helpful with informing me with menu options and any special request we might have had. I chose a pre-fix menu since there were eight of us. It is a two course family style meal. You are able to choose three appetizers and three main main courses. I would have liked to see a dessert option included in the menu. However, the birthday person does get a complimentary cake with a candle. We added the unlimited bottomless drinks option for $20.00 per person for 1.5 hours. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by a friendly hostess. The ambiance of this place is beautiful. It is well decorated. Great for photos. We were seated upstairs by the stairs facing down the bar and dj. Dj was playing a mix of music. Music sound is perfect it is not too loud. As soon as our whole party arrived we were served immediately. We had sangria and mimosa. The sangria was delicious and the mimosa was really good. We were served in pitchers. Appetizers came out immediately. For starters, we had fried calamari, guacamole and chips and chicken, and vegan chorizo empanadas. The calamari was absolutely delicious. It was nice and crispy on the outside, and the tartar sauce and pickled onions were really good. Calamari was served with pieces of yuca fries. The empanadas were good, and the guacamole was tasty. For our main entrees, we chose the tres golpes, steak with eggs and chicken, and waffle. The Tres Golpes is Mashed Green Plantains, Pickled onions, Fried Cheese, Fried Salami, Eggs. This was so delicious, the mango was cooked perfectly. The salami tasted delicious. Steak and eggs were really good. Steak is served with chimichurri sauce on top. Steak was tender and very flavorful. Now, onto the chicken and waffles. These waffles are made of sweet plantains. Waffles are served with Butter Milk Fried Chicken Breast and a Sweet Smoked Turkey Gravy. The waffle was delicious on its own. For my sisters complimentary cake, they brought out cuatro leche cake. I have no real complaints about the establishment. However, it's a "happening" spot. A busy spot. If you're the type that digs quiet or a more laid back atmosphere, it's probably not for you. It's also a little tight in there. The table for 2 where we were sat was pretty small. My friend and I went here last night (Thursday) at 9pm for a quick catchup session. I haven't been here since Covid and they have definitely upgraded since then. It's absolutely beautiful in there! Went to Mojo restaurant Forest Hills for the second time I can say that the food is consistently flavorful and delicious. My first visit I had the cure ceviche which was amazing more like an appetizer size you will have to add to order to build a meal. It's important to state the vibe, music and service, was on point. Our waitress came to ask us if everything was well with our order, and followed up to see if we needed anything else. I like the fact that on both separate occasions, the food presentation and quality has always been great. I hope that it remains that way. read more
