I got tipsy at first sip, and I have a high alcohol tolerance. I ordered the Sunday lunch special: the Beef Rib Soup with a side of white rice, chicken, salad and corn cake. The beef was tough, but everything else was good. TIP: Ask for some extra green sauce. It is the tastiest green sauce that I have ever had. For dessert, I had the Torta de Almojábana, which is a warmed breading pudding made from Colombian cheese bread, cornmeal, cuajada cheese and guava. It was delicious, but I did not care for the side of soft "low quality" vanilla ice cream. I would have preferred that it had been hard "high quality" ice cream so it could have melted over the dessert. My favorite brand is Ben and Jerry's. Pretty good food with large portions. I ordered the chicken covered with mushroom sauce, which was essentially cream + mushrooms. Came in for happy hour, our drinks did not disappoint =] There was only one female working at the time I believe & she did it all without missing a beat. The only thing we didn't like was her shift ended so she closed our tab when we actually would have stayed, consumed more drinks/food since our other friend ended up meeting us there. When you find a local restaurant tucked far away in a strip mall in Astoria, you get suspicious on the quality of food and experience. But boy we're we in for a feast. Vibes - SUPER down to earth and lots of locals (e.g. Colombians and Latin folks) who frequent this spot. I knew this was the jackpot for some really authentic and filling Peruvian/Colombian food. Food - AMAZING. Jalea was my favorite and you get this massive pile of fried shrimp, fish, calamari over a bed of yucca fries and onions. Super crispy but also very moist and tender. Bistec was also an excellent choice. And they also have a great selection of really yummy and refreshing seafood ceviche (can't go wrong with mixto). Drinks - amazing. They do the Pisco sours justice here and cocktails were around less than $15 per. Very reasonable Prices were super reasonable as I thought with the same equivalent meal you'll be paying at least 25% more with smaller portions in places in Manhattan. Sorry, no photos, I've been to this restaurant several times. I've dined in and have taken out. Love how they expanded the foot print of the place to allow more seating. Each dish that I've had was pretty good too. The reason why I can't give this a higher rating though is because of service. The times I've dined in, the servers are not very attentive nor do most of them see to care. A meal can last over an hour and half, simply bc you can't put in your order or you can't get your check. Or when I order for pick up, and the time says 30 mins, and then when I go, again none of the servers seem to care, and the food is not ready for another 20 mins. read more

Inca Paisa is conveniently located in the LIC/Astoria area. They have plenty of parking as it located within the shopping center. My favorites are the empanadas from the appetizer menu. I ate them before I was able to take a pic. The margaritas are wonderful. I can't say enough great things about the staff as they are always wonderful when I come. It was a slow Tuesday night with less than 10 people in the restaurant but it took me finishing my appetizer to finally get a drink. My friend and I each ordered a cocktail but it took a while for them to bring it and it wasn't even that busy. Also we didn't notice until we were almost done with our meal that we never got our water. I noticed a group of 3 sat down at a table and the server brought glasses of water right away. The jalea is for 2 people but honestly I was surprised when they brought it over because the portion was huge ! It should've said it's for a group of 4. I saw this place open up recently and was drawn to it because of how good it smelled outside, it was a little impromptu date night. I had the Carne Asada a la plancha it was suppose to have chimichurri but I feel like it needed a bit more seasoning, I didn't taste any chimichurri. I asked for like two different hot sauces to help elevate the flavor & it worked like a charm. My plate came with rice and beans which were my favorite part of the meal. Portions were huge in my opinion I had to have my husband help me eat some of it and we still had leftovers for home. My husband had Lomo Saltado the chicken version and it wasn't all that in our opinion. His plate came like in the picture with no beans which was a shame because the beans they make here are bomb. I also think the chicken could've been a little more seasoned but at least it was juicy and tender. A heads up that this place does not allow substitutions so beware and read everything to the T on the menu. I will definitely go back. Poor service despite being well staffed. Went here this past Saturday around 11am and we were the first customers. We immediately got seated and were given 2 glasses of water. Our waitress (a petite female with long straight brown hair) took our order and seemed to get annoyed (made a face) when we interrupted her conversation with other employees. The appetizer (chicharon) took over 25 minutes to arrive and the main entrees (lomo saltados) took over 30 minites to arrive. I used to come here when it was the arepa place so I was shocked to see that it is now a Peruvian restaurant. They remodeled the restaurant and it looks nice and spacious. They had a large selection of food items. I tried the ceviche and roasted chicken special (1/4 chicken with rice, beans, and salad). They were both tasty and filling. I was glad to see the ceviche was a decent size dish. I've been to other Peruvian restaurants where they give you such a small portion. My bf enjoyed his lomo saltado. The service was ok. A restaurant for ALPACA. In September, we went to try Inca Paisa. A fusion Peruvian/Columbian restaurant (21-19 Broadway). We had read several articles about them online in several Facebook groups, including Give Me Astoria and East Something New in Queens. I first noticed Inca Paisa when I went to the Bel Aire diner and told my partner we needed to review them. They were swamped with patrons at that time, and we decided to go at lunchtime on a Saturday when it was less busy. We ordered the lomode de cerdo a la plancha (skirt steak, white rice, beans, sweet potatoes, and salad) and the house special calamari. Their dessert menu is very limited, so we ordered the torta de almojabana (cheese bread pudding with guava sauce and ice cream). Our dishes were excellent, perfectly cooked, and delicious. The skirt steak was cooked exactly the way I liked it, medium well done! In the process of dining, we found our waitress very helpful and attentive, giving us lots of recommendations. We also noticed how carefully they had thought out the layout and interior design of the restaurant, creating a relaxed ambiance. On the walls, for example, they had carved images of native animals found in Peru and Colombia, even an Alpaca. Yes, an Alpaca (see website for image).
