I've been to Inca Paisa before, and unfortunately it has never been my first choice. The only reason I return is because it's my grandmother's preferred restaurant since she lives nearby. We arrived around 6:20-6:30 p.m. There were plenty of open tables, but we weren't seated until much later. During that time, the male waiter seemed more concerned with other tasks. He was seating a woman whose party of six hadn't yet arrived, going back and forth to the kitchen, handing out receipts, and collecting menus. After all of that, he finally approached us--not to seat us--but to ask, "How long are you going to take?" I replied, "Sir, we're here to eat." He responded that the side tables were for people watching the game. I explained that we were there to dine, as this is a restaurant. Even after we were seated, he avoided our table completely. He took the order of a table that had been seated after us while we continued waiting. About 20 minutes later, a female waitress noticed we had not been helped and took over our table. She was attentive, professional, and the only reason we received service. After placing our order, we waited about an hour for our entrées. The food was also underwhelming. The Papa a la Huancaína came with an excessive amount of sauce and very few potatoes. The Ceviche Mixto lacked the bright citrus flavor that ceviche should have. My grandmother, who is very familiar with Peruvian cuisine, found it bland, and even after taking it home we couldn't improve it. The Bistec Encebollado was slightly too salty for our taste. The beans simply weren't to my liking, though that's a matter of personal preference. Another issue is the dining room layout. The seating is extremely tight, to the point where it feels like you're almost elbow-to-elbow with the tables next to you, making the experience feel cramped. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the slow and inattentive service, the long wait for food, the cramped seating, and several disappointing dishes, the experience did not justify the visit. The female waitress deserves recognition for stepping in when we had been overlooked, but unfortunately she couldn't make up for the rest of the experience. read more

Bartender Juan Jose served me at the bar on Sunday 2/15/26. This place is perfect for Happy Hour because my Passionfruit Sangria was potent! I got tipsy at first sip, and I have a high alcohol tolerance. I ordered the Sunday lunch special: the Beef Rib Soup with a side of white rice, chicken, salad and corn cake. The beef was tough, but everything else was good. TIP: Ask for some extra green sauce. It is the tastiest green sauce that I have ever had. For dessert, I had the Torta de Almojábana, which is a warmed breading pudding made from Colombian cheese bread, cornmeal, cuajada cheese and guava. It was delicious, but I did not care for the side of soft "low quality" vanilla ice cream. I would have preferred that it had been hard "high quality" ice cream so it could have melted over the dessert. My favorite brand is Ben and Jerry's. The place is big enough to seat about 25 people, and the parking lot could fit about 50 cars. It is an excellent place to do an Event. read more

Pretty good food with large portions. I ordered the chicken covered with mushroom sauce, which was essentially cream + mushrooms. My favorite of the night were the different flavorful dipping sauces (namely the aji verde). They provide complimentary fried plantain chips + aji verde, which was a great starter. It was so nice to know that we still had decent restaurants in the neighborhood.But when you find out that shrinkflation is part of your business tactic, it is so disheartening to loyal consumers...When you raise a dish by 4-5$, remove the salad portion, and cut the meat portions in half-- you feel robbed. The DJ was such a hit! He played all the bops when I dined here. The restaurant was cozy, with its mini outdoor area by the entrance. They had so many selections to choose from, and I'm sure each would have been equally as large portioned as what we got. My favorite was the Ceviche Mixto. That sweet potato was so good! This location is a little smaller than the one in flushing but so much better in service & food. The decor is just as cutsie as the flushing location. Great photo spot by the bathrooms. Came in for happy hour, our drinks did not disappoint =] There was only one female working at the time I believe & she did it all without missing a beat. The only thing we didn't like was her shift ended so she closed our tab when we actually would have stayed, consumed more drinks/food since our other friend ended up meeting us there. When you find a local restaurant tucked far away in a strip mall in Astoria, you get suspicious on the quality of food and experience. But boy we're we in for a feast. Vibes - SUPER down to earth and lots of locals (e.g. Colombians and Latin folks) who frequent this spot. I knew this was the jackpot for some really authentic and filling Peruvian/Colombian food. Food - AMAZING. Jalea was my favorite and you get this massive pile of fried shrimp, fish, calamari over a bed of yucca fries and onions. Super crispy but also very moist and tender. Bistec was also an excellent choice. And they also have a great selection of really yummy and refreshing seafood ceviche (can't go wrong with mixto). Drinks - amazing. They do the Pisco sours justice here and cocktails were around less than $15 per. Very reasonable Prices were super reasonable as I thought with the same equivalent meal you'll be paying at least 25% more with smaller portions in places in Manhattan. Sorry, no photos, I've been to this restaurant several times. I've dined in and have taken out. Love how they expanded the foot print of the place to allow more seating. Each dish that I've had was pretty good too. The reason why I can't give this a higher rating though is because of service. The times I've dined in, the servers are not very attentive nor do most of them see to care. A meal can last over an hour and half, simply bc you can't put in your order or you can't get your check. Or when I order for pick up, and the time says 30 mins, and then when I go, again none of the servers seem to care, and the food is not ready for another 20 mins. read more

Inca Paisa is conveniently located in the LIC/Astoria area. They have plenty of parking as it located within the shopping center. My favorites are the empanadas from the appetizer menu. I ate them before I was able to take a pic. The margaritas are wonderful. I can't say enough great things about the staff as they are always wonderful when I come. It was a slow Tuesday night with less than 10 people in the restaurant but it took me finishing my appetizer to finally get a drink. Looked like the bartender was too busy entertaining a patron so finally had to flag another waiter to ask for my drink. Food was mediocre. I saw this place open up recently and was drawn to it because of how good it smelled outside, it was a little impromptu date night. I had the Carne Asada a la plancha it was suppose to have chimichurri but I feel like it needed a bit more seasoning, I didn't taste any chimichurri. I asked for like two different hot sauces to help elevate the flavor & it worked like a charm. My plate came with rice and beans which were my favorite part of the meal. Portions were huge in my opinion I had to have my husband help me eat some of it and we still had leftovers for home. My husband had Lomo Saltado the chicken version and it wasn't all that in our opinion. His plate came like in the picture with no beans which was a shame because the beans they make here are bomb. I also think the chicken could've been a little more seasoned but at least it was juicy and tender. A heads up that this place does not allow substitutions so beware and read everything to the T on the menu. I will definitely go back. Food was really tasty ! But took off a star because of the service which could've been better. My friend and I each ordered a cocktail but it took a while for them to bring it and it wasn't even that busy. Also we didn't notice until we were almost done with our meal that we never got our water. I noticed a group of 3 sat down at a table and the server brought glasses of water right away. The jalea is for 2 people but honestly I was surprised when they brought it over because the portion was huge ! It should've said it's for a group of 4. It has yuca fries, fried calamari, fried fish, and fried shrimp which was crispy. I had to ask for sauces because it seems like they forgot. Also the bandeja paisa was a big portion for just one person so my friend and I shared that dish along with the Jalea. We finished the bandeja paisa but there was a lot of the jalea left, we barely made a dent. The appetizer causa de pollo was pretty good. Poor service despite being well staffed. Went here this past Saturday around 11am and we were the first customers. We immediately got seated and were given 2 glasses of water. Our waitress (a petite female with long straight brown hair) took our order and seemed to get annoyed (made a face) when we interrupted her conversation with other employees. The appetizer (chicharon) took over 25 minutes to arrive and the main entrees (lomo saltados) took over 30 minites to arrive. Our waitress focussed on chatting with the employees in Spanish and did not come to us once to ask how things were and if we needed anything, she totally forgot we were there. I had to remind her at least 2x to refill our water and after asking for a check she gave attitude. I used to come here when it was the arepa place so I was shocked to see that it is now a Peruvian restaurant. They remodeled the restaurant and it looks nice and spacious. They had a large selection of food items. I tried the ceviche and roasted chicken special (1/4 chicken with rice, beans, and salad). They were both tasty and filling. I was glad to see the ceviche was a decent size dish. I've been to other Peruvian restaurants where they give you such a small portion. My bf enjoyed his lomo saltado. The service was ok.
