Finally a peruvian chicken place that checks all the boxes. it boggles my mind that no one uploaded the menu for this place but I did it for y'all. In any case, this place sells authentic peruvian chicken with a ton of flavor. I went for the lunch special and some extra maduros on the side and it was well worth it. The chicken breast was above average in terms of dryness but the thigh and leg were on point. the maduros portion was also generous and they were fried properly. They also included a chicken soup which amazingly wasn't a throw away. Finally the green sauce was also great; not the best ive ever had but more than good enough and had a nice slow burn spicyness level. The lady at the front kindly took care of me despite the language barrier. All i know is that i'm going to be a regular here.

Experience: I came here on a Friday afternoon with my boyfriend and his family. The fish soup was delicious! The Lunch combo runs from 11am all the way until 8pm. What a great deal! It is only $6.50. Each day of the week, there are different combos you can choose from. Two options per day. For Fridays, we chose from seafood soup or chicken soup. The seafood soup comes with fried fish over rice and beans or a salad. This meal was so over the top for me. I loved the soup. It had generous amounts of squid rings, large chunks of corn and vegetables in it too. Then the rice and beans came with a huge piece of fish over it and a container of green spicy sauce. This meal really hit the spot. I would definitely come again on a Friday. There are a few tables, the lighting is a bit dim, but service is good and the food is excellent. It gets loud here when the train is coming by overhead and gets a bit chilly when the door is open, but the food is worth the noise and cold. You won't regret it! Recommend it?: Yes! Absolutely!

Had to do errands near here. Googled this joint. Street parking was quick. Lunch menu in here is the bomb. Small little joint. Food feels like home cooked. Will come back. Trust!

Highly recommended . From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was spot on. The food was AMAZING the first time around, so I was really hoping they would deliver again. And when it came to the food--they absolutely did! We ordered ceviche, tostones with guacamole, drinks, and our entrées. Everything was coming out and we were enjoying ourselves. I went to the restroom--which, by the way, was very clean--and when I returned to the table, I happ5ened to look up in the corner. That's when I noticed the restaurant had a PENDING letter grade. Now I'm concerned. I asked our server if she could find out from the manager why the grade was pending. She came back and told us it was because of a leak, but they couldn't remember the inspection score. That answer didn't completely sit well with me, so you know what happened next... I started digging. The last time I visited, they had an A, so seeing "Grade Pending" definitely caught my attention. When I looked into the restaurant's inspection history, I couldn't find the specific reason for the current pending grade, but I did see that an earlier inspection in May 2025 resulted in a B. I understand that even a restaurant with an A can have violations or issues, and a pending grade doesn't automatically tell you what the problem is. But when I'm eating somewhere, I definitely want to know what's going on. Our server was super sweet and reassuring, and the restaurant had plenty of customers dining there. The restroom was also extremely clean, so I'm hoping that same level of cleanliness carries into the kitchen. And trust me--I'll be driving by next week to see what letter is in that window! I'm rooting for an A! Now let's get back to that FOOD because they deserve their credit. The flavors were so good. My steak came out medium-rare exactly the way I ordered it, the asparagus was delicious, and that GUACAMOLE?! EVERYTHING! The food here really is excellent. The servers have been welcoming, attentive and sweet during both of my visits, and I was especially happy that I was able to enjoy my meal without having an allergic reaction. That's why I really need Kantu to keep it together! The food is too good, the service is too welcoming, and I'd love to see more people in the area experience their excellent Peruvian cuisine. MIXED BAG THIS VERDICT: MIXED FOOD: KISSES! Flavor: Service: Cleanliness I personally observed: Pending Grade: I'm watching... The food gets my kiss of approval , but that pending grade keeps this review firmly in the MIXED category for now. Kantu, I'm rooting for you. Now let's get that A back in the window!

I live in New Jersey, and I knew that if I didn't eat somewhere near the airport, I was probably not going to eat at all that night. We ordered papa a la huancaína, a tamal, and leche de tigre, and the total came to about $48, which Its affordable by the area standards. Peruvian food is not necessarily cheap, so my issue was not mainly the price. My issue was the quality and the care behind the food. Its important to note here I am Peruvian, so I say this with real knowledge of the cuisine and with disappointment, not malice. The papa a la huancaína came with about four or five potato pieces, half an egg, one lettuce leaf, and no olive. Quantity-wise, the potatoes were fine, but the sauce told the whole story. It barely tasted like ají amarillo, and the flavor felt muted and commercial, like it was made more for cost control than for enjoyment. Huancaína sauce should have character, richness, and that unmistakable Peruvian flavor. This one felt flat. The tamal was decent in flavor, so I will give credit there, but it had only one slice of pork, no egg, and very little ají. It was a good size, but still did not feel worth the price. Again, it felt like the ingredients were being stretched too far. The most disappointing item was the leche de tigre. This is a dish that deserves much more respect because for many people, ceviche and related dishes are among the most recognized parts of Peruvian cuisine. This preparation did not feel delicate or authentic. It tasted like corners were cut. As someone who knows Peruvian food and has worked in restaurants before, I understand that using enough lime to properly prepare fish is expensive in the U.S. But that is exactly the point: if you are going to serve this dish, then do it right. If not, don't present it as something special. $21 for this? Honestly, I felt CHEATED. What frustrated me most is that this restaurant clearly has potential. The decor is nice, ready for selfies and Instagram pictures; you can tell effort was put into the presentation of the space. But to me, it felt like more attention went into ambiance than into the food itself. My impression was that the restaurant is aimed more at people who are not very familiar with Peruvian food and may accept a more mediocre version of it. For someone who truly knows and loves Peruvian cuisine, this was disappointing. I've had much better Peruvian food in less polished places in New Jersey, especially in Paterson. The decor at Mixtura may be prettier, but the food I had there was, at best, low-end mediocre. I ate it because I was hungry and it was late, and I appreciate that they were open when I needed a meal. But I would not go back, even in the same situation again. If you are Peruvian or very familiar with authentic Peruvian food, this may not be the place for you. If you are simply craving something nearby and are not especially focused on authenticity or quality, then maybe it will work for you. But for me, this is a one-time visit only. Sorry, its a NO-GO for a second visit.

Honestly, if I could eat this every day, I would. The menu offers a journey through vibrant, sometimes unexpected, yet surprising flavors and thoughtful dishes. My personal favorites are the Tiger's Milk, Lomo Saltado, Chica Morada, and cancha - which is a perfect snack on its own! The Tiger' Milk is an explosion of fresh, tangy and savory flavors that excite the palate, while the Lomo Saltado is the ultimate comfort food - perfectly seasoned, tender, and packed with bold flavors. If you're looking for something different, order the Chaufa de Mariscos. From the very first bite, we got instant dopamine hits - the unexpected flavors were a sensory experience that left us saying "ooh!" with each bite. Don't leave without ordering the Chicha Morada. Its a definite must-have. This refreshing, cold Peruvian purple corn drink is lightly sweet with hints of cinnamon and clove that make you feel at home. It's like a non-alcoholic mulled wine, but better - comforting and reminiscent of Christmas, pure perfection in a glass. [I think they rotate desserts, but if the Peruvian ice cream is on the menu, definitely try it. I'll be back to try the others.] The staff is always attentive and friendly. Whether it's your first time or 10th time, they'll ensure you have a great experience. If you're unfamiliar with something on the menu, ask and they're more than happy to explain and recommend dishes that suit your tastes. This definitely adds to the cozy vibes of the restaurant. The decor is another standout feature, most of it seemingly handmade - I think I've seen them working on a few pieces in the past (I live in the neighborhood). Every detail feels intentional, with a personal touch that perfectly complements the amazing food. From the appetizers, to the desserts, you can taste the quality and care that the chefs put into every item on the menu. Whether you're dining in or ordering takeout, Caleta 111 is more than a meal - it's a flavorful adventure I know I'll return to time and time again.

We tried because of the Michelin guide recommendation. Ceviche with 2 plantain chips for $29, who are kidding? walked in and there was no host to attend us, we waited for a bit, I had to walk up to the kitchen and they said to take a seat of preference. We chose the bar, they said the bar setting table was not stable so we had to sit down inside the restaurant while it will still sunny out (it's summer in NYC, so obviously lightning is key). Then, we ordered the chicken combo of 1/2 with rice & beans which is only to-go service and they didn't have but their menu listed. The ceviche took about an hour to arrive which is the only appetizer and 2 beers we ordered, while the restaurant wasn't even full & then we landed up ordering 1more beer while still awaiting the ceviche. Then came the check- they said their system was down so no cards & only Zelle or Venmo- which we Zelle them the $ and then the owner went to verify in the back if they received after she took my phone to double check the amount. I'm sorry but not sorry, we have travelled 60 countries together for 12+ years and this is not the experience we expected from Bib Gourmand / Michelin FALSE Guide! I hope you can take notes from this comment and make improvements to thrive because this is NYC & the options are infinite!
