I went there yesterday night and the food was ok however after we ate we noticed they have a big fat RAT****** in the restaurant running around underneath the tables!!! I will not be returning. read more

Came in today to have a ceviche and a lomo saltado. They were both delicious, I like how the ceviche was spicy. They tend to have lunch menu as well that runs from 12-3pm at a very accommodate price. The restaurant is very clean and the staff are friendly, they speak both English and Spanish. I will definitely recommend this restaurant if you are around the area, the food and Peruvian beverages are A+. read more

I like the food but under new management and the service is terrible and the manager disrespectful if you are English speaking forget about it- I tried to speak Spanish and instead of encouraging me I got a language lesson. He doesn't speak any English and got our orders screwed up and then got an attitude. I asked for a drink and they didn't know how to make it and made it terribly. I used to love this restaurant under the old management but not any longer. read more

I had to write a review after last night experience. It was my wife birthday I took her there for dinner on a Friday night. I been there before and it's always good but not yesterday. I just want to say that they need better management at this place. Their service is really bad, it's slow, they only have 2 workers and they do it all. I mean, they clean the tables, they organize the dirty and clean plates, they seat you, they are the ones to bring you the drink etc. We got our seats and waited about 25 minutes just to get someone to see us and bring us at least water. We then see the waitress place our order and it just took forever. Another example was the table next to us finish their beer and asked the waitress for more, she took their empty bottles and the guy literally had to get up and walk to the bar to ask for his beers. *don't order a margarita unless you like the premix cheap liquor from the stores. They don't even put real tequila. Note: their food is really good but they need better I will say I been here before and the service was ok but last night was just bad. It was my wife birthday and it was just a bad night. read more

Very disappointed. stumbled in this place due to the place we were looking to go being closed for a private event. decided to give this place a try and that was a mistake. 1st, the food is Okay. there's noting special about the food. 2nd, the staff is not very helpful at all. not once did they come by to ask if we were okay or if we needed anything else. Heck, they never even came by to refill my water glass. and please do not order the "rib eye" I really should've known better. I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Service is really slow and bad here. You have luck if they bring you water when you ask. Be prepared to wait long time for your food. They don't give you the customer service you should get in a resturant but it's one of the best peruvian cuisine I have tasted. We had the jalea which is fried seafood and better then any other restaurant I have tasted it in like pio pio, which is super overrated now. The ceviche bar that has different kind of ceviches in a large plate is very tasty. They have a sea food soup called parihuela which is very very good, hot and little spicy. If you come here make sure to get any seafood plate, you can't go wrong. Chicken is not so good read more

Be careful automatic 15% scam charge in the bill, I was there a few weeks ago and it was four of us I got our bill with 15% service fee, I asked why? one server told me it was because it was a party of four, and a blondish girl at the register answered aggressively and little rude and said its because it's over 100$, The food is good and I don't mind to pay when being told before but 15% service fee for no reason , Forgot to serve water as soon as we arrived, got the appetizers at the end because I had to remind him I also ordered a salad , overall it's a pretty laid-back service on a slow day .. 2 stars for food but it was pretty good .. service nahh read more

Weekly the diversity of Peruvian food and El Sol's dishes are outstanding. The hidden jew

Ok place... until we saw a rat running from the kitchen to the dining room area. Grossed us out.

We ordered Papa Rellena, Corazon Anticucho, Parihuela, Cau Cau, Ceviche Mussels, Palta Rellena de Camarones. Palta Rellena de Camarones was most scary and disgust part. The avocado was spoiled and served to us. I was so sick after one bite. My seafood soup was not fresh, either. Very disappointed with service and food. read more

Hands down my favorite Peruvian restaurant! The food is amazing and the staff is always attentive! Be sure to try their Seco de Cabrito!

Best Peruvian brunch in NYC! Lot of imposters have cropped up in Queens these past 2 years, but El Sol Inca is an original and authentic for Chicharon, Saltado & such. read more

Is the soul gone? came here Friday night party of 3. They've spruced up their decor and menu. Service started off attentive then our waiter disappeared. And have more drink offerings. True that all items ordered were never my typical choices. Drinks good strong and cheap. Pisco sour perfect margharita $8 amazing. no sour mix. mega portion. App fried squid. with green peeper sauce addictive.perfect light batter with fried yucca on the side. Ultra fresh perfect cook.Jalea must be amazing still. they now offer only one size for $30 which is annoying because unless you get this as a pricey main is pricey for app. Fav dish. Mega portions on all foods.Mains short rib stew with tacu tacu , grilled hanger steak with rice and salads, beef with peppers and tacu tacu with sides of fried plantain. My hanger steak no seasoning except salt and pepper. had weird smell and taste. not unfresh but something off perfect cook but no grill look or taste. rice addictive as ever. salad nicely dressed romaine tomatoes beets onions. short rib stew tasty braise sauce tender beef. tacu odd with white beans. beef with peppers ok. finished meal with very lovely flan. creamy not too sweet but caramel bottom burnt. overall will come again and order the dishes I always have to decide is my beloved sol really lost. fingers crossed no. read more

This place REALLY needs better management. Waited about 15 minutes just to be seated or even acknowledged by the staff and there were two empty tables that could have accommodated our party. We were only seated after another patron called the waiter over and asked that we be seated because he noticed my elderly godmother had been standing the whole time. We then waited 40 minutes for our food while 3 other tables that arrived after us were served before we were. When I brought this to the attention to waiter he mentioned they arrived before us and that they were eating appetizers - which they were clearly not. Felt bad for the waiter but they either need more help or better training. At least the food was ok. read more

Food was GREAT, service was GOOD price was AVERAGE.

This restaurant used to be the best Peruvian restaurant in queens . But I really don't know what happen . Now the sell the cancha $1.50 (in no other restaurant sell them ) the Jalea comes with no octopus or the owner is not Peruvian no more or they think so high of them self . Been going there for 15 years . But never again . This place used to be busy , now is always empty read more

This place has been one of my favorite Peruvian places to go to. The environment of the restaurant is nice and simple. Food is great and moderately priced. I've came here multiple times and each time the service has been great. The waiters are very welcoming to the customers and made sure I had a great dine in experience. Only con I would have to say about this place is parking is tough around the area. But if you get lucky to find a spot, definitely check this place out! read more

Food is ok. Prices are moderate. Food is supposedly authentic, though I don't know any better. Portions are ok. However I was irritated by a roving photographer who the restaurant allowed to badger customers for photos. He pressured customers for "voluntary tips" for these and said he would upload the photos to facebook and send them by e-mail to you if you e-mailed him. I was at a table with a few people otherwise I would have aggressively rebuffed him, to the point of physical aggression if he persisted. Yeah, I get pissed off by people who essentially amount to panhandlers. Or worse, swindlers. Someone in my party ended up giving him a small tip and the guy had the nerve to ask for more, which was rejected. I was turned off by the photographer. The restaurant should have thrown him out. If the restaurant is in the same league as the photographer, shame. Will never return. Avoid unless they prohibit soliciters from entering the premises. And I hope the restaurant and all readers take note of this too. I like to enjoy my meals without unwanted soliciters. I felt like an American tourist in a foreign country. Regardless of the food, this incident severely tainted my experience and memory of this place. read more

Been here multiple times and I always get the Lomo Saltado and the Pisco drink. Delicious can't forget to add the green sauce to this perfect dish. I also get the potatoes with the yellow sauce. Not sure of the name but is sooooo yummy. I need to get the ceviche next time I am there. But, everytime I go I always get the same thing yummy! read more

Came here with a Groupon, which was no problem at all. No discrimination there. We ordered the fish and seafood ceviche, and a skirt steak platter. The ceviche was served with an extra shot of lemon juice concoction on the side for dipping and was a generous amount (not in a tiny martini cup). The steak was good, not great. The maduros, ceviche and rice were the highlights for me. Our waitress was a one man show-restaurant had about 7-8 tables and she was the only one walking around. She was great, would love to return! read more

Good Solid Peruvian cooking. Very good attentive service. Ceviche is very fresh. The pasta dish with soy sauce was a bit bland but as usual you have to go to a place for what they're famous for. And Peruvians are famous for their delicious seafood dishes and flavorful hot sauces. And El Sol definitely nails that in dishes like Jalea. If you're looking for the sizable portions Colombian restaurants offer you'll be sorely disappointed. But you should keep an open mind to what is definitely an exquisite dining experience. There's no rating from the Health department which is a bit concerning, but as far as I can see, the food is well tended to and freshly cooked. I've been a regular and the food has been consistently good. A must try! read more

Seriously good ceviche, great friendly atmosphere. Our go to spot in the heights.

Authentic Peruvian cuisine. When I say authentic, I mean not like Pio Pio's tasteless Jalea. Not a 5 star restaurant because it's not La Mar. Prices are reasonable, and the service is just fine. I recommend this place for the seafood; you won't be disappointed. read more

Great place to eat, the ceviche platter is delicious a must. They have great margaritas during happy hour.

The food here is pretty good and at a very reasonable price. The portions are big and i love their ceviche and their beef fried rice with the green sauce! Ive been here many times for many occasions and i was never disappointed. The staff are friendly and at times they have a live band! read more

It's a great restaurant and special great food but when I order a delivery and went to pick it up and I got home they gave me such little food I really didn't like that read more

This place has one of the best skirt steak around but today I went with a healthier choice grill chicken with salad and my god was it horrible. The chicken wasn't even grilled it was pan fried. And it wasn't breast either looks like they just chopped it off of thighs and legs. And seriously one waiter for the whole restaurant. This place is starting to fall off the map. read more

The restaurant looked clean, wait was less than 5 minutes for a party of 3, yet the food was bland and deserved a rating of 1. We ordered causa as an appetizer, and although it looked good, the taste was completely lacking flavor. The potatoe base looked like when it was prepared no salt or pepper had been added. We were disappointed but hoped our entrees would be etter. We ordered tallarines verde con bistec and the waitress brought out a tacu tacu con bistec encebollado instead, and when we told her it was an error, when the correct dish came out the bistec encebollado was plopped onto the spaghetti that had been added underneath. The pasta lacked flavor, and the steak was not even seasoned with salt or pepper, not to mention we had ordered a medium cook temperature but te steak was burn on top. We also ordered lomo saltado which was ok, and a portion of chicen with fries which we were warned was not pollo a la brasa but pollo al horno. The flavor was also bland on the chiken. Take it from me i will ot o avk, cmpletely disappointed in the lack of flavor and seasonng in the food. read more

I asked why the check included a 15% without any notice! I believe that tip should be given for service, not charged to the customers. The restaurant is a local area, not tourist place. If they include service charge they have to write on the menu. May be, because we are Asian? read more

J Heights definitely is the Peruvian capital of New York and my people have done it again with El Sol. You wouldn't be able to tell from outside, but the decor here is real nice and I was really feeling the ambiance. We were seated promptly and immediately had our drink order taken. The mixed ceviche was outstanding like the Gap Band. Mussels, calamari, shrimp with seafood sauce hell jeah! Peruvian food is known for chicken and this place did not disappoint. You simply aren't going t find better chicken. The tostones were delicious as well. The rice, salad, and fries were standard fare, but they are meant to accompany the meal and not overshadow the star attraction. The portions were HUGE. I just had to doggy bag all the leftovers as I'm going to have meals for days. Perfect spot to bring your family, a date, or if you just want to fat out. Oh and I almost failed to mention that you might want to get as much green sauce as possible because it's so damn good that they could be bagging this up in the streets and turning a quick profit. read more

LOVE this place. Beats Pio Pio anyday and its a mom and pop feel. If you dont get here early on the weekend, expect a line. My go-to is the Roast Chicken. Its a Peruvian restaurant! I would feel as if I were cheating if I didnt order it! The ceviche and calamari is also great too. read more

This place used to be a great Peruvian restaurant. However, not sure if new management took over or what, but this place stinks. The waitress was so rude. Me and my parents went to eat here since it's been years since our last visit and we had to wait to 15 minutes before being serviced. She would take orders from bigger parties before us, which was uncalled for. Maybe she was trying to work hard for her tips, but she certainly didn't deserve one from us. She had an annoyed facial expression when she finally came to take our order. The food was very mediocre as well. You're better off going to another restaurant that has employees that understand the meaning of treating everyone equally with respect. read more

Yummy food, decent service, nice ambiance. Pitfall - they don't take VISA!!!!! They stopped taking Visa earlier this year which has prevented me from going as often as I do because I don't always carry cash like that. Their ceviche bar, jalea and tallarin verde are my favorit!!! Their aji de gallina and papa la huiancaina is so-so but you're talking to an American born from Peruvian parents so I may have my preference. Their entrana (skirt steak) is very delicious and I usually order this or the regular steak with my tallarin verde. Their lunch special is pretty good, it comes with a lunch portion entree with soup and chicha morada (a purple corn drink from Peru) for about $8 I believe Monday through Friday. Call ahead to find out their lunch specials! Try it out! You won't be dissapointed. :-) read more

Went here several years ago. Chicha morada is delicious. The peanuts they bring out looked ok until a roach ran out of it across our table and we had to smash it. NASTY! The waitress looked horrified as were we. Needless to say we are Never coming back! read more
