Been wanting to try this place for a while and got takeout from here for my family and I to try. We were pleasantly surprised and enjoyed everything! This is a peruvian restaurant and the family's favorite item was actually the Causa, which has a tender texture and light flavor and isn't something we were quite used to but enjoyed as people with traditionally Chinese palates. The lomo saltado was of course delicious and the steak was cooked excellently. The fried rice was also a favorite, and reminded us of our fried rice (as there are lots of Chinese people in peru, after all). The ceviche was delicious too. Definitely give this place a shot, especially if you haven't had peruvian food before and would like to try it from an authentic place. Warique is the kind of place that makes you go, "Oh. OH." Like, it starts casual, but then they hit you with the flavor uppercut. We came in hungry and left spiritually repaired. My wife said the food reminded her of home, which is wild because she's not Peruvian. The decor is no-frills, but the food is all-thrill. Every dish that hit the table was like "Surprise! This review is based on two sit down dinners. First one was for my birthday in January and second was for my parent's anniversary earlier this month. I have to say their service is top notch! They are all super attentive and nice. The food was good both times but the waiting time was insane! For my parent's anniversary, we ordered our drink and appetizers to start. We had almost finished our drinks and our appetizers hadn't even come out. We literally stuffed ourselves with canchita. How do you not have Chicha morada? On a Sunday at 4PM? It wasn't even a holiday. Very disappointing. The appetizer servings were good. My parents enjoyed the choros a la chalaca and I felt the anticuchos and papa a la huancaina hit the spot! The flavors were all there, everything was hot and it all just came together so nicely. For an entree, we shared a Jalea and a side of tostones. The Jalea was packed with all my favorites; calamari and fried fish ... YUM. The tostones were crispy and hot. To finish our Peruvian dinner, we got the picarones for dessert. These literally took about half an hour and we only placed one order; four come in an order. Overall though, we had a good time and my parents enjoyed themselves! I ordered on Seamless and my soup had spilled in the bag and also ruined my calamari. I called the restaurant and a very nice man apologized and wanted to make it right, but asked that I contact Seamless for them to reorder it. No problem. I called Seamless, who was not very helpful and said they would refund the food but I would need to reorder it myself. Well it was late and I figured a reorder would take an hour, so I chose not to do it. About 30 min later someone showed up at my door with replacement food. Came here for lunch with a friend after many people recommended but honestly was a bit disappointed. They have a lunch special menu which is 10.99 for entree and a soup or salad. We shared an order of papa a la huancaina and lomo saltado. The potato was not that great, it was missing spice and flavor. The lomo was a bit tough, the rice and veggies were decent. I've been to a few Peruvian restaurants in the nabe. I believe this is hands down the best Peruvian restaurant in Jackson Heights. This place is very welcoming and the food is excellent and affordable. Warique is a gem on 90th Street and 37th Avenue. I was in Peru on vacay in August 2018 and tasted the local cuisine. The food is really good. I've only tried their Peruvian chicken a few times but it's really flavorful without being too salty. The green sauce enhances the chicken even more. I think this places makes the best Peruvian chicken and green sauce so far. I normally don't even care for it since it's usually incredibly salty, so I was really surprised when I tried Warique's. Its really juicy, reheats easily in a pan if there's leftovers. L drizzled some green sauce on a slice of peasant bread, added some ripe avocado with lime & cilantro. Delicious. Sometimes there's a 45min wait if they're cooking up fresh chicken, but it was worth it. They even threw in extra sauce. The rest of the menu looks really good too, I really want to try their lomo saltado. A reviewer said she paid $25 for half a chicken which is impossible since it's $16.99 for a whole chicken! This place sells great Peruvian food. I enjoy several dishes from here: lomo saltado, tacu tacu con lomo saltado, arroz chaufa, etc. The tacu tacu is a super version of lomo saltado with plantains, fried egg and rice. Plus, I like the maiz tostado (South American cancha corn nuts) that they offer as a free appetizer. I've done pickup several times with no problem. I will be a regular customer for life! read more

The antichuchos were slices of veal heart; they were quintessentially lean and served with giant kernels of corn. The tamal criollo offered more corn and was filled with at least one olive and chicken; it held together firmly after being sectioned off. The 1/4 pollo with yuca frita had amazing seasoning and solely offered dark meat, to my benefit; the chicken was tender throughout. The lucuma ice cream was interesting, with a flavor more reminiscent of a coffee. Early in the afternoon, I was the only patron for the majority of the meal and thus able to respect the social distancing recommendations in this current climate. I went to the Jackson Heights location and the food is outstanding. The ceviche was right on with the traditonal various types of corn, red onion, and sweet potato accompaniments. We had the fried yuca which came with an incredible sauce--I don't know what it's made of but I suspect corn, cheese and peppers. Awesome. Ordered seconds. The tamal was excellent--fluffy and balanced. The tacu tacu with beef was unfortunately dry, but tasty. I am yet to find my dream tacu tacu with the perfect combination of rice and beans, fish, and red onions (at Warique there are no meat options to have the tacu tacu, just beef). The roast chicken was good but dry. They don't serve alcohol but are working on getting their license. Both times I've been there the service has been quick and attentive. My main complaint is that their website got appropriated by a gambling company and that their phone number doesn't work. Their hours aren't listed accurately (Google vs Yelp) so I was trying to find out if they were open by searching online and calling but I ended up just having to go there and see. My mother and I saw the Leche de Tigre online and definitely wanted to try! We came during the lunch special and decided to order the Aji de Gallina with the soup on the side. We also ordered a Tamal Criollo and, of course, the Leche de Tigre. The waiter was very sweet and gave both me and my mother a bowl a soup, even though we ordered 1 entrée. The Aji de Gallina was excellent and the Leche de Tigre was definitely the star of the show. I would definitely take my mother and father back here again for those two dishes. However, I wouldn't order the Tamal Criollo again. Another note is that the food (besides the Leche de Tigre) came out lukewarm, not hot. Perhaps this is just a preference. If you prefer your food lukewarm, then this is not a problem. tl;dr Get the Leche de Tigre and Aji de Gallina! Food is served lukewarm. read more

We were staying near LGA and wanted to walk to a local restaurant and stumbled on Warique. We couldn't have been happier with the awesome food and super friendly staff! We had the lomo saltado 4/5, pollolito 5/5, and the tapu tapu lomo saltado 4.5/5. The pollolito was some of the best chicken I've ever had, and came with fried rice and fried plantains which were equally awesome. This is a complete ripoff I paid 34.84$ for a jalea that's big and all I received in my delivery was one fish fried flour and like 8 calamari's and two fried clams the rest was literally just fired flour and burnt too. I called the restaurant to see if they can fix anything and the girl said I'll speak to the kitchen staff thank you and hanged up I stayed with fried burnt flour and wasted 34.84$ in food that's definitely not worth it read more
