TRES LECHES
Fanny M.

Thank you Jamie for your friendly and courteous service . Although the weight time was longer than expected , Jaime was apologetic for the wait time and gave us a tres leches on the house . We ordered a pitcher of white sangria and leche de Tigre , 10/10 !!! Service , food and ambiance 10/10 , thank u again Jaime your customer service will definitely continue to draw in the public .

Warique is the kind of place that makes you go, "Oh. OH." Like, it starts casual, but then they hit you with the flavor uppercut. We came in hungry and left spiritually repaired. My wife said the food reminded her of home, which is wild because she's not Peruvian. The decor is no-frills, but the food is all-thrill. Every dish that hit the table was like "Surprise! I'm your new favorite." The waiter smiled like he knew we were about to cry over a plate of yuca. I looked around at the other tables and thought, "Wow, we're all in this together." Big portions. Big feelings. Big plans to come back ASAP.

OMG come here! We had Tallarín a la Huancaina beef & fettuccini and the Pescado Warique, a fish dish. Both were excellent. Most folks say they "love" Peruvian food, but is that just rotisserie chicken? This is more! Better, great flavors. It's a small place but with a large and gracious hospitality. Staff is accommodating and cheerful.

My parents

This review is based on two sit down dinners. First one was for my birthday in January and second was for my parent's anniversary earlier this month. I have to say their service is top notch! They are all super attentive and nice. The food was good both times but the waiting time was insane! For my parent's anniversary, we ordered our drink and appetizers to start. We had almost finished our drinks and our appetizers hadn't even come out. We literally stuffed ourselves with canchita. How do you not have Chicha morada? On a Sunday at 4PM? It wasn't even a holiday. Very disappointing. The appetizer servings were good. My parents enjoyed the choros a la chalaca and I felt the anticuchos and papa a la huancaina hit the spot! The flavors were all there, everything was hot and it all just came together so nicely. For an entree, we shared a Jalea and a side of tostones. The Jalea was packed with all my favorites; calamari and fried fish ... YUM. The tostones were crispy and hot. To finish our Peruvian dinner, we got the picarones for dessert. These literally took about half an hour and we only placed one order; four come in an order. Overall though, we had a good time and my parents enjoyed themselves! Thank you for having me again Warique!

Papa a la Huancaina

Came here for lunch with a friend after many people recommended but honestly was a bit disappointed. They have a lunch special menu which is 10.99 for entree and a soup or salad. We shared an order of papa a la huancaina and lomo saltado. The potato was not that great, it was missing spice and flavor. The lomo was a bit tough, the rice and veggies were decent. I would probably give this place another chance, maybe for dinner.

I was in Jackson Heights yesterday and I was able to get one of my favorite foods. Peruvian food. Love Peruvian food they never disappoint. I love this place for their ambiance and decor. The staff was super friendly and the food was very tasty. Picture below is mg favorite soup is called Aguadito which is chicken soup but is ten times better. Try it and thank me later very flavorful. And their papa huacaina the sauce is delicious. Will be back!

Very good Peruvian food , we order the jalea and ceviche mixto 10/10 for both dishes. Would definitely recommend anyone looking for authentic Peruvian food.

Too small, the one in Astoria used to be bigger. Food still good, not excellent but good.

Ate here today for lunch by myself while working as a temporary substitute paraprofessional at P.S…read more 398 Q to try this place out for the first time. I had brought and ate the bandera dish that comes with goat and tripe stew, shrimp ceviche, and rice. Overall, it was delicious and really good. The service there was also attentive and pleasant that they even give me a sweet slice of cake for a complimentary dessert. I couldn't agree more! Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

The food is excellent but the billing is questionable to say the least. We won't go back…read more Somehow our bill went from $39 to $55.20 after ordering a $5 slice of flan for dessert. That's a difference of $16.20, which was more than my $15 entree (steak with rice, beans, and tostones). They took it upon themselves to include a 15% tip on debit ($7.20) after my wife had already tipped with $10 cash (which was returned when we questioned it). They charged us $3 extra for a side of beans that should have been included with my wife's $21 fried fish platter. Initially they didn't charge anything for a $4 lemon beverage that was ordered by a misunderstanding, but once we ordered the flan after the bill came out the first time they corrected that mistake. Granted these are small charges, but the overall feeling we were left with was a bad taste. The bill turned out higher than what we initially expected and was no bargain considering we didn't even order an alcoholic beverage. It felt like we were paying a sucker surcharge.

This is the spot…read more This is the spot for a huge platter of delicious Colombian food, perhaps before you go dance it off at the nearby Knockdown Center. I'm not going to pretend that I am the best person to determine what an authentic Colombian experience is (never had the pleasure of visiting Colombia), but if this isn't it, I can't imagine what they're missing. The staff speaks to you in Spanish exclusively, which made me glad one of my boys is Honduran. The TVs all over the place are playing what appear to be Colombian music videos that were made in the 80s featuring old men and attractive young women. They've got buckets of Colombian beer and frosted mugs so cold that the beer turned to slush around the sides. They've got a platter called the Bandeja la Berraca that consists of rice, beans, steak, plantains, eggs, avocado salad, little corn cakes, blood sausage, other sausage (amazing), and a giant side of chicharron. Eat and drink to you're bursting, while adorable Colombian kids run around the place. And rejoice that you live in NYC, where these things can be had.
