Amazing Peruvian-Italian fusion restaurant. My friend and I had an early dinner reservation on a Tuesday evening. It was not busy at all, pretty much at the restaurant all to ourselves. Ambiance, service, cocktails, and food were all on point. Kevin was our server, he was very professional and accommodating. For cocktails, I had a mojito which was very refreshing and my friend had the pisco which was strong for me, but she thought it was perfect. For appetizers, we had the baked clams and the mixed seafood ceviche, both were really good, one of the best ceviches I've had. For our entrees, my friend and I shared the spaghetti pesto which is a must have. It was paired with a NY sirloin steak, the combination of both was literally to die for. We also had the lomo saltado which is one of the popular dishes. This was very flavorful, highly recommend ordering this as well. For dessert, we had the mango cheesecake and ice cream which was very delicious and perfect to end our evening. Overall great spot and will definitely return. read more

I finally checked out Bistro Punta Sal, a neighborhood spot I've had bookmarked on Yelp for awhile. I went in the dead of winter, and it was freezing inside. They didn't have heat inside and instead relied solely on their space heaters. I'm hoping this was just a one night issue. Foodwise, it was a good experience. We ordered the ceviche mixto with crema Blanca and medio pirate. It was good. The ceviche is meant to be shared and comes with marinated seafood. You can choose the seafood so we chose the mixed seafood since it was recommended. I also ordered the lomo Saltado which the server recommended. It was a tender piece of steak sautéed with tomatoes and onions, served with potatoes and white rice. My friend ordered the pollo al Simone with steamed vegetables and enjoyed it as well. First review of 2026 ... of course it had to be Peruvian! This place is as good as it gets! We came here to celebrate my mom's birthday on Monday and came out super full! But before I go any further, please note this place is PRICEY! It's a cute little spot right off the 46th street stop on the 7 train and across a Latin American market. We were seated right away and were glad we beat the dinner rush. To start we shared a papa rellena, it was definitely large enough for us 3 to share. To drink I got a maracuya margarita and it was nice size drink. To eat we all got different dishes, my sister a pescado a lo macho, my mom a pescado frito and I got a carne salad. All of them were massive! The food was good but that papa rellena was it! We wouldn't come back but we're glad we tried it. The server was super nice and attentive the whole time. It was a wonderful experience at Punto Sal! The ambience is quite elegant. It is great for an intimate date or small groups. It has a fancy atmosphere and the tables have white table cloths, bottles of wine already available, and two glasses as you sit down. (Looking at the glassware, something tells me the bistro may not be a spot for kids who like movement.) I walked in with my husband earlier this evening. The waiter provided us toasted bread with lentils in olive oil which was new and tasty to me. I had my eye on the jalea, pulpo, and then of course decided on the national dish. I had to order the ceviche lenguado (filet of sole). It was so good. I really enjoyed it. Inside my ceviche, there were toasted corn kernels that were crunchy (cancha-which is chullpi corn) and also a long side were boiled big corn kernels (choclo). I would like to add that also present in my chosen dish were sweet potato just perfectly done, soft but at allnot breakable..it was the right consistency. My husband had the fettuccine huancaina. It was pretty good. I snuck a few bites to see how it was. And I have to say the presentation of the food was spectacular! I would definitely recommend to others who want a fancy date. The first time I tried this place, it was during the pandemic last year and we ordered takeout. It was the Churrasco Punta Sal and a chicken combo, which wasn't great. It lacked flavor and we couldn't understand the great reviews. Last night we decided to give them another try and holy moly they knocked it out of the park! We ordered the ceviche special, another Churrasco Punta Sal, and the Jalea. All were so delicious and we have no regrets. The portions are huge and the flavors were very much there. From the outside, it looks like a regular restaurant but inside it feels a bit fancier, like a legit date night spot. The service is also incredible and our server, Josué was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend this dish. Also got the Arroz Con Mariscos was bursting with flavor. A mixture of seafood in yellow rice topped with red onions. The Pascado A Lo Macho was one of the favorites at the table. Mixed seafood with this amazingly delicious cream sauce. Last but not least we ordered the Pollo Saltado. Something is A mist. Been coming here for over 10 years for birthday celebration. Today we realized it was a different owner or different chef / both. Same menu but food came out different, played different, portions different. If it wasn't that we been here so many times, the cockroach on our table ended the deal for us. My girlfriend picked this spot for Peruvian food. I liked the ambience and the food was great. Now for the fact I deducted two stars: I took one star off because one of the dishes my girlfriend ordered (I don't remember the name but it was meat stuffed in potato) had an olive that had a pit in it! Thank god I was careful to chew because otherwise I would have broken my tooth. I took another star off for the same reason: my arugula salad, while tasty, had a dry rock-hard bean in it! Last night's, on a recommendation we had a wonderful dinner at Bistro Punta Sal. We went straight down the specials road: drinks "Mexican Coquito" (OMG-- soooo good), grilled octopus app (I am an octopus snob-- this was cooked perfectly), avocado salad, and what was a party on a plate... fried bronzino stuffed with ceviche mixto. My current favorite restaurant! The food is always delicious, pisco sour is wonderful and the portions are so good for the price. It's always a vibe inside, although if you're looking for a quiet place definitely take the day and time of the weeks into account since it can get loud on Friday nights and the weekend. The servers are always open to explaining what everything is and what their recommendations are and have been great every time I visited. Definitely recommend the anticuchos, ceviche and pesto pasta with steak. read more

Ordered delivery for a bday dinner that was perfect. Chose this place because they had choros a la chalaca on the menu, one of my favorites. I was able to order a day in advance and food was delivered on time as promised. The confirmation call from a very nice gentleman was appreciated. I ordered the choros that did not disappoint. Fresh and delicious. The Jalea, which I worried would be soggy at arrival, was actually nice and crunchy. Fish was flaky and the combination with the curtido was finger licking good! Calamares and lomo Saltado are my favorite. Ceviche is good, but not the best I've ever tasted. During COVID-19, they have a good outdoor sitting area. This place was one of our fav goto spots. Food and service is always on point. Randomly found this place probably over 10 yrs ago, and have continued to come celebrating bdays and just s night out. It has changed several owners over the years. And each time its changed a little but still we returned as it wss good. Last night we came to celebrate yet another bday and whoa as we opened a menu several cockroaches came crawling out. Hubby killed one and we closed up the menu and told the waiter. We did stay as the bday boy's heart was set on the dinner. Portions served are way smaller, the ceviche was not fullfilling. The steak was pre cut and smaller portions, as prior visits they would serve you the whole steak for you to cut. Me and my daughter tummy wasn't feeling well after we left. They served us a bday cake but it was dry and not tasty. Sadly, an era has ended as we will NOT be returning. Even with the cockroaches the restaurant did nothing to soften the bill. I have this newfound love for Peruvian flavors and dishes. So I am always excited to try new restaurants that specialize in Peruvian cuisine. Punta Sal is located in a really trendy neighborhood with tons of restaurants plastered in the area. Parking was easy. Offering outdoor seating during Covid along with Covid protocols. My server was one of the nicest servers I've met along with great knowledge of the menu. Complimentary shots of their drink special for the night were provided as well. The drinks were tasty. The food was delicious. The shrimp ceviche was different and I'm not used to the sauce being so thick but I did enjoy it.. i think in Peruvian cuisine that's normal... the orange/red color was due to the spiciness. The lamb shank lacked a bit of seasoning but was enjoyable as lamb has great natural flavor and it was tender. While the menu said lamb chunks, we received a lamb shank. The lamb came with a side of onion chica de jora. Absolutely delish. Another great staple in Peruvian cuisine. I could eat that by itself. The Golden Corvina, again, had that thick spicy sauce and at first I wasn't so sure but I really did enjoy this. The vegetables were filling and seasoned well. I loved the tiramisu. It tastes freshly made and wasn't overly sweet. I absolutely enjoyed it here and I will be back. The vibe was super cozy. I'd like to see the flavors shine stronger thru the food so I will be back. Had a hard time choosing an entree as their menu has some great options. The one thing I was disappointed with is that their were no table starters. Usually in Peruvian cuisine..as you sit down, you're given cancha salada or plantain chips with condiments which are some of my favs. This definitely would've been a plus for me. read more

This is the place to go if you want delicious Peruvian food in a more upscale setting than many of the other restaurants in the area. The server was friendly and helpful. Their menu was great and offered so much more than the typical rotisserie chicken that is so often associated with Peruvian places in the city and everything we tried was delicious. First off, I must commend our server, Josue. His hospitality and charm was as enjoyable as the meal itself. Josue, thanks for bein so friendly, attentive and taking such great care of us. Our food was delicious. Our appetizers were the grilled scallops from the specials and a small jalea. The scallops came with a puree of potatoes with avocado. Original and tasty. I ordered the grilled swordfish from the specials. Pan seared to perfection. My mom had the Lenguado Punta Sal. I was initially nervous that the fish would just be drowned in sauce. But the sauce was the right amount. Not overpowering the taste of the corvina but a perfect compliment to it. My husband enjoyed the Rib Eye from the special also. Juicy and soft. Well, I was here last year and it wasn't as good as it has been historically, but here we are. Came here 2 weeks ago to celebrate brother's bday and well, dud. Under new management and name but the service and quality of a couple dishes were below par. The biggest disappointments are the following; Jalea- a staple at any Peruvian restaurant. If you are in the mood for this. Go elsewhere. This place uses frozen fish and the muscles are tasteless. Bread- the courtesy bread( which we had to ask for since there was no canchita, peruvian toasted corn for those that dont know) was hard like a rock. I dont know why the server even put that on the table but in his defense, he was young and inexperienced. Cocktail drinks- not worth it. Cheap on alcohol and doesnt look anything like the pictures. We ordered a frozen pisco, hardly frozen. All the other dishes were ok according to the party I was with. Service was almost nonexistent and getting water was a challenge. This place used to be a favorite spot but if you are looking for Peruvian, go elsewhere. PS- service would have been better if the guy at the bar would have helped.
