Amazing!! Delicious food and wonderful attentive service! I am Uruguayan and this is the BEST Chivito I've had in the USA. It is a must for Uruguayans and everyone that wants to experience Uruguayan culture and food! 10/10!! We had a pitcher of Sangria which was delicious, the bread and pizza chimichurri taste amazing and so refreshing! Tastes like you're having a mini pizza to start off the meal sooo soo good, the chimichurri is exactly how my mom makes it, to compliment any grilled meats or the Chivito! It is a little far for me but it was well worth the trip! Ambiance is very homey no frills or unnecessary embellishments just about the good food and Uruguayan cultural decor. They have a generous amount of flat screen tvs to watch any sporting event without missing a beat!

Have been wanting to dine here for many years and finally had a chance to stop in last night. Our server greeted us with a warm smile when we walked in and was very friendly throughout our entire meal. I called ahead to see if it was ok for us to come in for a late dinner and they accommodated us with no problem. I was able to order before we arrived, and our table was set with silverware and sauces for the steak before we walked in. We ordered the entrana for 2 personas, medium rare. The steak was perfectly cooked and it was a substantial portion for sharing. Although the restaurant was closing, they did not rush us one bit and even offered us coffee and then dessert after that. The dessert was a light cake with peach, caramel and whipped cream. It was the perfect ending to our meal. Dining here truly felt like eating at home. The service and food was exceptional. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

    Parrillada for 3

I came here with a group of coworkers the waitress recommended the parrillada for 3 and a couple of pitchers of red sangria. The staff was really nice and accommodating; they even moved us to a table that was away from the sun, which was appreciated. The sangria was good--not too sweet, just the right balance. As for the parrillada, it had some amazing cuts of beef on top, but unfortunately, some of the pieces on the bottom were greasy and a little tough to eat. Overall, it was a decent experience, but we kind of expected more, especially considering the hype.

I have been coming here for years and it is pretty consistent when it comes to food quality and flavor. Their service is quick if there aren't too many people and most of their servers are friendly. My go to is their skirt steak with a side of Russian potato salad and a glass of sangria. I order the steak medium and 99 percent of the time it is cooked perfectly. The potato is always tasty and pairs so well with the steak. Their chimmichuri is also seasoned to perfection. Their portion sizes have decreased even tho their prices have gone up which is upsetting. Their sangria is sweet and strong. Highly recommend if you are in the mood for a great piece of entraña.

    Parrillada Chivito D'oro Para 2 | meat platter for 2 10/10

My first time having Uruguayan food and it was excellent! For first timers, i recommend you get the meat platter unless you really know what types of meat you like. We got: - meat platter for 2: i think it would feed about 4 average people. My personal favorite were the blood sausage and the sweet breads. The veal was quite tough but i feel like that's always the case. The beef ribs were also quite good but a little salty - paella marinera for 2: this one is probably indeed adequate for 2 people (maybe stretched for 3). The dish was so moist and all the seafood were perfectly cooked. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes and eat more sweet bread!!!

There has never been a time that the food was bad here. It is always good. Vilma has been at this restaurant for ao many years. She even remembers the meal you prefer to have and the temperature of your steak. They are an Uruguayan Steakhouse and they prepare the steak to perfection. Always at the right temperature! They also have a chimichurri sauce on the table that accents the steak well. I usually dumped the entire contents of it on my steak. Way better than any steak sauce. They offer warm bread as you sit down and lots of butter on the side. I usually have my entrance with tostones (fried plantains) and that is more than enough to fill me. My bro has the same with a mixed salad that is super fresh , maduros (sweet plantains) and white rice and red beans. They are truly professional is making their food. Vilma also has a great demeanor and is conversational as well. Always happy to see her!!! I return here constantly!

Ate here today for lunch all by myself while working seasonally as a poll worker nearby. This was definitely my first time eating Uruguayan food feeling curious about what to choose and eat for the first time. I had brought and ate the chicken empanada and 3 veal steak chops with a side of french fries. It was absolutely delicious and tasty that I literally got super full after eating it all up. The service there was also attentive and friendly that I didn't feel rushed about what to choose from the menu of how I can afford it. I couldn't agree more! Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

The Parrillada Chivito D'Oro Para 2 is a mountain of meat for two!

El Chevito D'Oro is a great value for a meat lover. When the carnivore in you is far beyond your wallet, this is the place for you. You can bring a date and enjoy a great time. You can come here with friends and have a carefree experience, because no one will stress the check. What you get here is a mountain of grilled meat at a price you will appreciate in these inflationary times and where some restaurants; for a double cheeseburger, fries and a beer; are charging you about the same as you will pay for the mountain of meat in the Parrillada Chivito D'Oro Para 2 with two sides here. I stood in the short cue around 8 on a Saturday night. The place was busy and I was seated in the enclosed sidewalk space alongside the restaurant. I used the time in line to research what I would order. Cece took my order for water and a half pitcher or carafe of sangria. The red sangria is a tad sweet here, but not off-putting. It has lots of fruit in it, so high marks for not shorting you here and fairly priced. The bread they bring is a light sourdough and the chimichurri is good for spreading or dipping with the bread. When Cece brought out the Parrillada Chivito D'Oro for two, it was a mountain of meat presented on an elevated metal platter with something underneath to preserve the warmth. For the current price, you will be hard pressed to find better value. It may vary, depending on what they bring out to you, but on that night it came with a quarter chicken, two ultra thick slabs of bacon, a ton of skirt steak, a delicious sausage, veal steak, and a beef short rib, instead of the matambre. Whatever they bring out on this Parrillada platter, you can rejoice and enjoy this for all it's worth. Seriously, for the same money you could have had a double cheeseburger. The choice is easy here folks. You get to sample in depth what El Chevito offers. The chicken was good, but perhaps the Peruvian rotisserie edges it out. The sausage was very good, but El Gauchito is better. The veal steak will not impress you, but the skirt steak will, especially with the chimichurri. The skirt could be a little more tender and all the meats could be cooked to a more moderate, juicy and tender temperature. Everything comes medium to well done here. The ultra thick bacon slabs were so on point, but it would be even better with American style barbecue sauce, which I am aware is not an Uruguayan thing and El Chivito is an Uruguayan steakhouse to be clear. Their beef short ribs are their strongest suit, enough that I ordered a short rib platter with sides to go. The short ribs are the thing here, better than anything else, more tender, with the bone and fat trimmings for that flavor boost beyond anything my palate experienced, with the bacon still talking in the background. The fries were good and had great texture. The sauteed spinach with garlic and onions was so-so in my estimation. The Russian potato salad was on par with or arguably better than the fries. I cannot forget the traditional Uruguayan dessert I ordered here: the fruit and merengue chaja cake or pie. It's enough for two to share, with peach or apricot and I believe pineapple. I ate it too quickly to assess the fruit accurately. It's on the light side and not too sweet. This is a solid three and a half star experience, muted only by the likes of El Gauchito and certainly not on the level of the more formal and stuffy steakhouses in this City. However, this place will go light on your wallet and everyone can enjoy the carnivorous experience without worry over the check. Bring your date, bring your friends and have money to come back again.

    Skirt Steak

I love this place! The staff is extremely friendly. Be prepared to eat. It's not flashy, it's a restaurant that serves a lot of FOOD. The skirt steak and sangria is a hit. No need for an appetizer. The warm bread with chimichuri sauce is enough. When I'm really hungry believe me I'm going there to eat and that will be my only meal for the day. Love this place.

We randomly passed this place and it was smelling so good on the street and there were a lot of people dining. So we went in and shared combo #4 and empanada. It blew my mind how tasty it was. Perfectly cooked meats and delicious empanadas. Service was very attentive and great! I'll be back to try more! Loved every bite.

El Chivito de Oro is a great place to go when you are missing a good wholesome meal. The food is fresh and the menu has a wonderful variety of food. Good authentic Uruguayan cuisine. I definitely recommend this restaurant. Service is on point. When your here definitely get the spinach empanadas and Uruguayan wine. Ambiance is family oriented and warm to the heart. Best part of this experience is the Portions, they are large which is great for taking home for leftovers. For those who are complaining about the price on previous reviews, please don't! remember everything has gone up expect for our wages. So if you can just enjoy the great great food. In addition, Parking is meter on the weekdays-Saturday. Free parking on Sundays.

Very good amount of food for the price! We came in a group of 5 and we had leftover food to take home because there was so much. The entraña was delicious and definitely my favorite part. The service could be better but overall a very comfortable place to dine with your family.

The buffet table was smaller than at the TS location and there seemed to be less choices. But the thing we were most disappointed about was the inconsistency with service - we kept waiting for the meat to come to our table but we kept seeing the servers going to other tables (on the outsides, and we were in the middle part of the dining area), then leaving and therefore skipping us. It was not just one server but multiple servers, they clearly have a problem with making sure all tables get the same service or number of stops. We eventually had to flag down someone to ask to be served. The meat served was also mostly the cheaper cuts, even though it's a holiday and everyone in our party was playing full charcuterie experience price. We were all disappointed with the quality of the meat. I'll still go to Fogo but I'll not be coming back to this location for sure.

It had an oddly fishy taste when it should've been rich and buttery. It also lacked proper seasoning, so we ended up sending it back. For the entree, we ordered the dry aged porterhouse, priced at nearly $200. We asked for medium, but it came out well done, which was a letdown. The chimichurri didn't taste authentic, and while the signature steak sauce was fine, it wasn't anything memorable. We also ordered a side of bacon, which was decent but I've had better. The chili prawn noodles were another miss. It came with only four shrimp, wasn't spicy at all, and used spaghetti noodles, which felt off for the dish. The only real highlights were the creamed spinach and shishito peppers. Those were solid and you just can't go wrong with it. At best, I'd recommend coming here for the cocktails and the view. The food alone doesn't justify it. I added an extra star strictly because of the service. Shirley was excellent. She was knowledgeable, attentive, and gave great wine recommendations. The food is good, plating is great, everything cooked as ordered and came out on time. The steak, bacon, and pasta are all great choices. The place also looks nice and clean. The negatives for me are: you have to be aware of the prices because for some reason, there was an extra dollar added to some items. They fixed it when we pointed it out but it's more about the principle. Also, if you are in Flushing, you do have many great options for more reasonable prices. This is clearly an upscale hotel's restaurant with a nice view, weather permitting but most people in Flushing are not looking for a higher price tag. With that, the portion sizes are more for plating purposes. Good luck with parking, public transit or ride share is sort of necessary to get here. Overall, this is not a bad spot to go to, just a bit mismatched with its current environment. Also, if you do go, find the elevator and take it to the 12th floor to find the entrance. That may not be clear.

Our waiter was friendly, attentive throughout the meal, and knew both the menu and specials inside and out. We started with the grilled octopus, house dips, and a thick-cut slice of bacon. For the main course, we shared a Porterhouse for Three and a ribeye, accompanied by mushroom risotto, garlic mashed potatoes, and creamed spinach. The steaks were the highlight of the evening. Both had an outstanding crust while remaining perfectly cooked inside. The porterhouse in particular showcased why dry-aged beef has such a following. The mushroom risotto paired especially well with the ribeye, while the garlic mash and creamed spinach were classic steakhouse sides executed well. I also tried a Negroni before dinner, which proved to be a great choice and complemented the appetizers nicely. The dining room strikes a balance between upscale and comfortable, with an old-school steakhouse feel that lets the food and service take center stage. Great for a special occasion--we were celebrating both Father's Day and a birthday, and the experience felt worthy of the occasion. For mains, we went all in with Christo's Signature Porterhouse for 3 (63oz/$185), Charbroiled Salmon, Baby Lamb special, and a Sea Bass special. The steak was cooked well and had solid flavor--definitely the standout among the entrees. The seafood dishes were fine, but again, not particularly exceptional. We finished the night with a selection of desserts, which were nice but didn't quite redeem the meal. Service was courteous, and the ambiance definitely leans upscale and festive, but for the price point, the food was hit-or-miss. The better app was an obligatory one for Argentine parilladas, Provoleta, or Provolone a la Parrilla, listed as grilled provolone in oregano sauce for $11.90. There were also some olives and some yellow pickled peppers, and it was standard and tasty, with a mild oregano flavor. The other one was the $12.90 Ensalada de Aguacate, or in other words, an avocado salad, with some red wine vinegar, olive oil, and Italian dressing on the side. There was plenty of very good quality avocado in there, but the salad otherwise was boring, with mostly lettuce along with some sliced tomatoes, onions, and some cucumber. The main dishes, of course, consisted of two of their parillada, a mixed grill platter, with both of them being ordered medium rare. The first one was their standard Parillada Para Dos o Tres Personas with skirt steak, short rib, sweetbread, tripe, kidney, and two sausages; black and Argentine. For the 2/3 person portion, it was $65.90, and it came with two sides. The Skirt Steak/Entraña on both this and the other mixed platter was wonderful, being tender and juicy with plenty of beef flavor. The Short Ribs/Costillas were flavorful, though a tad fatty. In terms of the achuras, or offal, my favorite of the bunch was the Sweetbreads/Mollejas, being perfectly cooked with a soft texture. I also loved the Tripe/Tripa, which more resembled intestines, which were clearly cleaned very well, as they lacked any gamey flavor. The texture otherwise was nice, and this was most of the others' favorite offal. The Kidney/Riñón was most of the other people's least favorite, with the strongest flavor, but as someone who likes liver, I still enjoyed it to an extent. In terms of sausages, the Argentine Sausage/Chorizo had a mild flavor, and the Morcilla/black sausage was excellent with a snappy casing and a very mild iron flavor. Compared to last time, this was even better. The more expensive of the mixed grills we got was the Parillada Especial Para Dos o Tres Personas, with more skirt steak, along with Flat Steak, flat rib, short rib, shell steak, and sirloin steak. This was $80.90 with 2 sides, and was also excellent. My least favorite, as before, was the short ribs, with the rest of the steaks having a mix of textures, with my probable favorites being the Flat/Vacio and the Sirloin/Cuadril. It was a ton of perfectly cooked meat, but it felt a bit boring by comparison this time, with the offal being so good on the other platter, compared to the other location. Our only other main dish was the $25.90 Camarones al Ajillo, or shrimp sauteed in garlic sauce, which was also served with one side. For a steak place, the shrimp here were better than most steakhouses, being plump and juicy. The delicious garlic sauce paired wonderfully and was especially good with the various sides. This was an expected hit and a necessary bite between all the various meats. For the free sides, we got two of the Plátanos Maduros, along with Arroz con Habichuelas, Ensalada Rusa, and Papas a la Provencal. Our favorites were the sweet plantains and the rice, especially with the meat juices or garlic sauce added. The Russian potato salad reminded me of a thicker version of salad Olivier, with plenty of mayo. The papas were the plainest, and I presume the Papas Frita/French Fries were better, but we chose not to order them. As we were already very full with a bit of leftovers, the postres/dessert was Panqueques Con Dulce De Leche for $9.90. These consist of crepes filled with milk caramel, and they were rich and tasty. It was great to share, and it was a good ending to the meal. We gave a generous tip, got leftovers, and still spent around $38 a person for some excellent food. Would recommend heavily, just like their other location. Rounding up to 5, or rather cinco estrellas.

I ordered chicken tacos. 3 came in the order with radish & lime on the side. The customer service was warm & welcoming. Even though the restaurant got busy, my food was still made quickly. There's plenty of indoor seating & clean tables. I took my tacos to go. I appreciated the double tortillas in case the first broke. The order was quite flavorful & filler. Excellent & generous portion size for the cost. I would definitely recommend & return.

Honestly, there wasn't a single meat dish we didn't enjoy. The salad was also surprisingly delicious, with a very tasty and flavorful dressing--it's definitely a must-try. The corn was decent as well. For dessert, they went above and beyond. They surprised us by bringing out cheesecake, and they even brought us an extra slice when I requested it, which made our celebration even more special. Our server and the manager were both excellent, and the staff overall were friendly and welcoming. I really can't say enough positive things about this place. We will definitely be coming back!

It is an all you can eat setup for a flat fee of around $30, with roughly 90 minutes to work through as much as you want. I will be honest -- I have mixed feelings about the time limit format. At that point it is not really all you can eat, it is all you can eat within a window. The other consideration is that the meats cook at their own pace in the BBQ pit, which naturally slows things down regardless of how hungry you are. That said, my wife and I were both satisfied by the end of the meal. We ate our fill and left happy, which is ultimately the goal. The food was genuinely good -- good enough that I actually enjoyed this meal more than some of the higher end Korean BBQ spots I have visited. That says something. I will be back. The value is solid and the experience delivered. Though I have to be honest -- nothing in this city touches the hole in the wall Korean BBQ spots in Flushing. Those are in a league of their own.
