Everything we ordered was delicious, and both our hostess and server were exceptionally attentive. This easily could have been a five-star experience if not for the mishandled oysters. Unfortunately, whoever was shucking them seemed inexperienced...they were slow, left behind some grit, mangled several, and served many upright, which caused the wonderful liquor to spill out. Oh my goodness! Joe and I came here to this cozy spot for a comedy show tonight and had a such amazing time! Not only was the comedy hilarious but the food was delicious! They offered a $40 pre-fix menu which included an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. I indulged and got the crab bites for my app, the fish and shrimp combo for my entree and the carrot cake for my dessert. I also added a side of hush puppies, because why wouldn't I?! The food was DELICIOUS and they gave us so much to eat I ended up leaving with my lunch for tomorrow. Our server Brandon was a one-man show! I watched as he took care of every single guest on his own while also manning the bar, and he didn't skip a beat once! The happy hour oysters are such a good deal because not only it's $1 but it's super fresh. I wish they had more options for happy hour drinks but the wine is decent. The service was good and we got seated quickly. The place is quite pretty and comfy. It has an outdoor seating with some lights and plants. It's a good place to go with friends or family for drinks. Have been here many times and always had great experience but came on a Friday wasn't too busy but it appears they might be down on staff bc it took a long time to place orders and the food was not good at all. 3.5 stars - Found this place on Yelp as I happened to pass Astoria on a random week night. Saw a few fellow reviewers I follow and was sold! The reviews were a bit old but I still wanted to try some of the items suggested by my fellow Yelp Elites. As expected, I did enjoy seeing the revised menu, and the good list of cocktails. For the most part, service was really good. Our waitress was always quick to assist with our requests (dinner got messy so I needed extra napkins during dinner service, about three times). LOL Onto the food - Appetizer - crabmeat guacamole sounded delicious and looked appetizing but the chef was slightly heavy handed on the citrus. The lemon just over powered the dish. Instead of tasting crab meat, it was more like a lemon guacamole. A bit disappointing because crab meat has a very light flavor but I did enjoy the chips that were served with it. I even asked for extra which our waitress accommodated. This review gets the extra half star for her service. I also ordered the butternut squash lobster bisque. Great combination and there were a few chunks of lobster to be found in the soup. The overall taste was somewhat sweet. A nice thicker texture to the bisque. It had a good balance. Entrees: the shrimp mofongo was a hit (per my dining companion). The sauce was savory and rich I'm told. The portions of shrimp were generous as it would seem, there was shrimp in the center where the plantains were featured. The waitress said there was no shrimp in the center where the plantains were but she was wrong. I almost tried it for a taste but decided against it. The other entree which was for me, the hot lobster roll. The bun seemed quite small in length but packed a lot of flavors. It was hot, grilled, and lobster piled on high. I was very pleased with the sizeable bites of lobster. The fries were perfectly cooked (can swap for potato chips as the substitute). And the cole slaw was another surprise. It was not as tangy as many others I've had before; almost a sweet/lighter finish which I thoroughly enjoyed. Glad to have tried this place. My eyes are bigger than my stomach. We always have an amazing time here; the oysters and the lobster, and fresh seafood are amazing. This was the second time in a year that we came here, and the service did not disappoint. The restaurant and bar have a comfy back area where you can sit away from the street, relax, and chat. By Astoria standards, the prices are moderate, and the bar is a little more relaxing. The downside, which is pretty minor, is that the restaurant is a little off the beaten path, so it is harder to find if you are taking public transport. All in all, it is a firm recommendation and one everyone should enjoy! read more

Awesome spot for $1 HH oysters! Honestly was not expecting much because HH oysters typically are either small or not as great in quality from past experiences but this place completely surprised me in the best way!! My bf and I got three dozen oysters, warm lobster roll, and the mussels of the day. Although I didn't get a chance to take a pic of the mussels, they were fresh and delish! I especially appreciated that they accommodated my allergies. The mussels are typically cooked with coconut milk for the curry but they were able to cook it without the coconut for me. The lobster roll was yummy too. The chocolate lava cake dessert however was a bit disappointing as there wasn't any chocolate oozing out in the center of it but was more of a brownie...and a tad bit too sweet for my taste. All in all, I still would give this spot 5 stars because of the wonderful service and the rare find of good quality $1 HH oysters!! Would recommend and definitely would come back again. read more

Came here for happy hour since I'm always looking for good oyster specials. On Mondays, there are $1 HH oysters which is a steal! You can hardly find that deal in NYC anymore. Since we were the only people there, we were able to sit wherever we wanted, and we chose a table all the way in the back. First we ordered drinks We wanted Don Julio reposado they didn't have, so we got Anejo margaritas instead our drinks were goodI will say that. For appetizers we got half a dozen raw oysters which we also did enjoy but after the oysters everything else went downhill. This is a neighborhood staple I love, but unfortunately my experience last night was concerning. If you are sober and/or order non-alcoholic beverages from the menu, you need to double check before drinking. Last night I ordered a mocktail from the menu that I have ordered many times before, I pointed to the exact drink I wanted in the mocktail section, the server looked at where I was pointing and nodded to confirm he knew what I wanted. I was instead served an alcoholic cocktail, and did not know until I took a huge first sip and realized it was liquor. As someone who is almost 5 years sober from alcohol, this was a huge mistake to be made. When I spoke to the manager I was only offered an apology, but it did not seem like they understood the severity of the issue. While this is the first time this has happened at this restaurant, please be careful when you are served anything non-alcoholic. read more

Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Very attentive and fast. I loved their drinks selection. We were too late to take advantage of the HH but plan to come back for it for oysters and drinks. I tried the Pinot Grigio, Canaletto and it was just so refreshing! My husband got the Riesling and loved it. We ordered raw oysters and the seafood boil which came with yummy rice. OMG was it worth it!! Food: 5/5 I like to go big so, we decided to get the cold platter and the OTH boil. They honestly were both great and definitely worth slurping on for a special night. The cold platter was a great assortment for those new to raw seafood with clams, mussels, and more. The OTH boil was large (good for two people), nicely seasoned (slight overly salty), and not overcooked. My only pet peeve was that this did not come with some corn and potatoes like I am used to. Service: 5/5 They were very attentive and nice. They sat us quickly, took our order, and (most importantly) kept the food coming. I appreciated the lack of wait time between my orders and my famished partner agreed. They checked on us twice and were very patient around other guest's children. This is one of my favorite spots to come to, especially in the summer time since they have a very nice patio. The ambiance in this place is very chill and friendly. They have happy hour on oysters which is worth while. Their oysters are always fresh accompanied with a glass of white wine. I also tried their shrimp mofongo for the first time and was not disappointed. They put a generous amount of shrimp around the mofongo and inside. I will start this review off by saying I am not huge on seafood but my boyfriend is on the hunt for the best comfort fish and chips in Astoria. We were seated immediately on a Saturday night and had a choice of the outdoor seating (pictured), enclosed outdoor seating, indoor dining (with live music) and a lovely backyard. The seating was intimate and plenty of people were coming in and out and were seated without reservations. Onto the food. I had the fish tacos (crispy popcorn fish of the day, mango coleslaw, avocado mousse - $17). They definitely had a kick of spice, which I wasn't crazy about but would recommend to someone who loves spicy flavors. The fish and chips ($25) did not live up to our excitement unfortunately. My boyfriend felt like the fries didn't stand out and the fish felt like it lacked seasoning, but the tartar sauce made up for it partially. On the bright side, there were some great other options that looked delicious on the menu - warm lobster rolls, skirt steak sandwiches and jerk chicken. I've been to this restaurant multiple times we love the decorations and I always had a lovely experience. I brought my sister and friends and they loved it ! Starting from the freshness of the oysters , the juicy steak with the chimichurri sauce finishing with the fluffy lava cake . The cocktails were very tasty def can't have just one !
