My friend and I had been planning a visit to The Arepa Lady for several months since we are from Connecticut. After a train ride, subway, ride, and short walk, we finally made it to their Jackson Heights location. We were greeted warmly and enthusiastically and promptly seated. We had read many reviews that said there was usually a line at the door when they opened at noon, but we did not get there until a little after 1 PM, and there was no line thankfully, since we were very hungry. We were so happy to learn that the entire menu was available for brunch. I decided to try one brunch arepa And one from the regular menu. I ordered the Relleno and the Shrimp arepas, and just a regular coffee to drink. The Relleno came in a choclo arepa, and so I asked for the other one in a queso arepa. Both arepas weee very tasty, but I preferred the shrimp one because I like the style of arepa better. My friend ordered a breakfast arepa and a chicken one. We ended up sharing ours so that we got to try all of them. She got the chocolate con queso to drink. Before I forget - we shared one empanada - because we didn't want to ruin our appetites - and it was amazing! And the yucca fries... get those and not the regular fries! And the sauces.... Hard to pick a favorite. The service was excellent! The interior is nice - there is a nice photo of the original arepa lady, Maria Cano. If I find myself in the area, I would go again or recommend it to others who are looking for this type of cuisine.

As with both Arepa Lady locations, the food is always delicious and cooked perfectly. The veggie arepa de queso had a perfect mix of flavors and textures. Server seemed a bit inexperienced but we relied on manager.

Arepa Lady is a legendary Queens institution, and even after all their years in business, it continues to serve some of the best food in New York. The arepa de queso is, without a doubt, the best arepa in the city--every bit as good as the ones I have had in Medellín and Cartagena. They are incredibly generous with the meat and cheese, and the flavor is unbeatable. There are four sauces on each table: salsa rosada (ketchup-mayo), alioli de cilantro (garlic cilantro mayo), salsa de piña (pineapple), and salsa picante. My personal favorites are the alioli de cilantro and the salsa picante, but every sauce complements the food in its own way. The restaurant itself is warm and cozy, with a strong feeling of tradition and culture in the atmosphere. Arepa Lady is an absolute must-try in Jackson Heights, and in New York.

A true Queens gem. I finally made it to Arepa Lady in Jackson Heights and it 100% lived up to the hype. The arepa de choclo with cheese was buttery, sweet, and absolutely loaded with gooey goodness. You can tell everything is made with care, it's comfort food, Colombian-style. I also tried the patacones (crispy and perfect) and grabbed a Colombian drink to round it all out. The staff was friendly, the space was cozy but casual, and it felt like a place full of history and heart. If you want to eat where locals eat and skip the tourist traps, this is the spot. I'll definitely be back (probably for more arepas and some of that flan I spotted on the menu!).

A great brunch spot in Jackson Heights. They have a great bottomless deal, one of the best I've seen. It wasn't too busy on a Sunday afternoon, you can just walk in. The place had booth seating, and a casual feeling. The menu is extensive and a bit overwhelming, there are 4 categories of arepas and different variations of each. Our waiter was kind enough to offer some suggestions. He explained that the most popular options were Arepa de choclo and the arepa de queso. I at first thought that it was expensive to pay $12 for a single arepa but these things are very filling. We started with sweet plantains and the elote corn. These were both very good, but nothing special. I tried the Arepa de Choclo with mixed meats, and it was really great. The best things ended up being the fresh juices they offer! The passion fruit one was a favorite. Overall, I would come back again!

Finally got a chance to try this place in the neighborhood. The interior is nice and cozy. The employees were very sweet and service was fast. We ordered the sirloin and mixed chicken, beef, chorizo) arepa rellena as well as sweet plantain with carne desmechada. Everything came with cheese. Everything was tasty. There were 3 sauces kn the table and they added a real nice touch to the dishes. My friend eats gluten free so we really appreciated how many of the items from the menu were listed as GF. Overall had a good time here.

Arepa de Chocolo with chorizo - also delicious!

This is a cute spot for brunch with unlimited drinks but to be honest the price of the food was not quite worth it to me. They do have some unique menu items. The arepa con queso was delish and so was the arepa de choclo - highly recommend. They have a really tasty pineapple sauce that is very unique and goes with everything sweet and savory! The wait staff were alslo great.

My companion had been raving about this unassuming spot in JH, and I was excited to try it. Well, Wow is all I can say. I started with some insanely good street corn (only issue, had a kernel stuck between teeth for an hour afterward), then had the shredded chicken arepa, with the thicker corn pancake that has a lot of sweetness but holds up beautifully with filling.

Ordered: Arepa Rellena w Carne Asada & Guacamole (~$17) Patacon Sandwich w Pollo Asado (~$15): with lettuce and black beans Aya's take: I've heard so much about Arepa Lady and decided to try it out when we were in the area. We were the only ones inside and it still took about 20 mins to prepare our order. The waiter was super helpful and explained what the differences between the arepas were and even showed us photos to help us decide. The Arepa Rellena and Patacon Sandwich were both stuffed with meat, they definitely don't skimp on the portion! Unfortunately, flavor was lacking for both. The carne asada and pollo asado were a bit dry and you really need to add sauce to flavor it up. They have pink sauce (ketchup mayo mix), hot sauce, a garlic sauce, and pineapple sauce. I liked the hot sauce and garlic sauce the most. It would've been great if they came with more toppings aside from the meat but they charge for each add-on. I've had really solid arepas at other spots but this one didn't hit the spot for me. The Patacon was fried perfectly and had great texture. The lettuce seemed unnecessary to me and I would've preferred some avocado instead. Maybe I didn't order the right items but I was a bit underwhelmed with our meal here.

My first time having actual arepas, and it was different from what I imagine it would taste like. I've had corn cakes before, but they were from Panama, and I found them a bit too dry. However, the ones from arepa lady, was significantly better, and had a really nice flavor to it. My favorite dish I ordered was the guacamole and tostones. I've always loved tostones and guacamole, so that was probably why, but it was definitely my favorite dish I got. I got the arepa de choclo (I'm not completely sure if it was choclo or not), with sirloin and avocado and the guacamole and tostones. The arepa was good, but the sirloin was way too salty and after a few bites, it started to overpower everything. If I were to come back, I would want to try a different arepa, but with a different filling. I really wanted to love the arepa I got, but the over saltiness of the sirloin really ruined it for me. The tostones and guacamole though, was amazing! My tip: get the guac and tostones!!

1/2 Food + Beverages; 0.5/1 Value; 1/1 Ambience; 0.5/1 Service Arepa Lady was highly recommended as part of a Jackson Heights food crawl given its neighborhood cult status. The atmosphere is casual and fun with plenty of seating, and even on a cold Sunday evening, the joint was full with patrons. I got the arepa relleno con pollo and my friend got the arepa de choclo with chorizo, which he liked quite a lot. The flavors were all robust and the meat tender and well-seasoned. Although a variety of sauces were provided with the red chili and green sauce being very good, my arepa was very dry. As such, I had a hard time finishing the dish, and even though I hate food waste, it was ultimately one I could not finish. Where we were disappointed, however, was the service speed, or lack thereof. We waited for a while thinking that the kitchen was backed up, but tables that arrived later than us had their food already. We then asked our waiter who checked and it turned out the kitchen had forgotten about our order. This cycle occurred twice before we finally had our food for a total wait time that exceeded 75-80 minutes easily. Although the wait staff was really nice, it was simply too long of a wait. Not every restaurant has a perfect inning every single day, and this may have been one of those for Arepa Lady. That being said, the flavors, portions, and prices were still great. In a place as densely populated with restaurants as Jackson Heights, attaining such a reputation is difficult and says a lot about the restaurant! I would give it a second shot and order something new.

A great stop in any Jackson Heights food crawl -- stopped by with a larger group on a long weekend afternoon and were able to get seated right away. The staff was really friendly and took the time to explain the different kinds of arepas and make suggestions, which I really appreciated. The Veggie Arepa de Choclo was DELICIOUS -- the maduros (plantains) brought some sweetness and you could add spicy salsa and the corn batter tortilla was great. It's pretty filling, so I shared with a friend since we were visiting a few spots, but would totally get one for myself for a full meal.

My friends and I visited this quaint little establishment this past summer. We discovered the restaurant after doing a quick search in the area and were drawn in by the great reviews. Despite a bit of a wait, the cozy atmosphere and excellent service made the experience worthwhile. The restaurant isn't very large, but it has a comfortable feel with both booth and regular table seating. It was also very clean, and even though we came during a busy time, we felt well taken care of. Bonus points for the spacious and clean restrooms! As for the food, it was absolutely delicious. We tried three different types of arepas, a patacon sandwich, the empanadas trio, and the passion fruit and mango juices. Everything was perfectly seasoned, crispy, and fresh. The prices were fair too. I would highly recommend this place and look forward to coming back!

Is there a new location? Every time I go to the address provided it's closed. Please let me know.

we are at 77-17 37ave everyday from 12-11.

    Is it BYOB for now?

I’m not sure I know they weren’t serving any acoholic beverages when I was there they didn’t have their license

What is the current location of this place? Update- I went to the 7702 address last weekend and it was closed. Is it on 37th Avenue now?

They lost their lease and will be close for 2 months while they set up their new location a few blocks up. So they should be back around May.
