    Happy hour
    Joannie B.

Full bar, nice decor, attentive staff. Great happy hour. Good music. Outside seating. Came here for taco Tuesday and had fun. Music on point. Margaritas were so good; especially the coconut which I am in love with. Chicken empanadas were good as well as the chicken quesadilla. Janet bartender was excellent she held the bar down by herself and other orders. I will definitely return from Brooklyn and my boo from jersey said, he liked it.

I was looking for a Saturday happy hour in Queens and Tic Toc suggested this spot and it did not disappoint. While I opted to sit outside on the patio the inside is big and spacious. Outside was very cute and accommodating, they even had AC on the patio. Our server Denise was a complete vibe. She knew we were not from the area and gave us the run down of other places to visit. While the establishment promotes Mexican food it had a warm Dominican flare that I personally enjoyed. I only ordered from the happy hour menu and would suggest it all. I was impressed with the quality of the drinks as happy hour drinks can be more of a miss than a hit. I had the guava mojito and by the 3rd one I could feel them. I enjoyed myself so much I plan to go back for their weekday happy hour. I am only giving it a 4 because I did not eat from regular menu.

Went back here twice recently. Once was during happy hour and the other was Friday night after happy hour. Both times we left there twisted! Lol I'm ashamed to say I got drunk off of mojitos, but man did they do a job! Friday night was very busy and lively, I believe they had a live DJ and the place was definitely pumping. The music was soo loud inside that we could not hear ourselves talk, so we asked to be seated outside. Luckily, they were able to find us a table out back. The service was really good and friendly both times. Our waitress was Dennys Friday night and Darysmeli during happy hour. FOOD: on both occasions no one was really hungry so we just got some appetizers to snack on. All this time I've been going here I never tried the grilled octopus and that has to be my biggest regret because it's AMAZING! So much so, I ordered TWO more! It's $21 and comes with a side salad but I'll pay the $21 just for the octopus all day long! It's seasoned and grilled to perfection. Not dry or chewy, just right. The chips & guac and Mexican street style corn were also 10/10s! The wings were good, nice and crunchy, but they kinda give frozen wing vibes and so does the calamari. DRINKS: well this here is the star of the show! Usually, I always get the margaritas, but when I went for happy hour my friend got the mojito and I tried it, now there's no turning back. We tried both passion fruit and tamarind mojitos, the tamarind was good, not too sweet, but the passion fruit?!? That was AMAZING! I really like that the mint leaves aren't overbearing, and it's the perfect balance of tasty and STRONG! We had 3-4 each and baby, we were soo DONE! The next day I was talking to a friend who said he was also there Friday night and got drunk of the passion fruit mojitos, so I'm glad to know it wasn't just us! Lol

Vibrant vibes and flavor-packed bites! We stopped in for Happy Hour and were instantly drawn in by the vibrant, inviting decor and the lively mix of Spanish music setting the perfect mood. The drinks were a hit--coconut mojitos and lemonades that were both refreshing and delicious. We tried a little bit of everything: the chicken tacos, guac, and French fries were all solid choices, but the chicken empanadas stole the show. Crispy on the outside, savory on the inside, and paired with a ketchup-mayo-style sauce that seriously took them over the top. Hands down, the best empanadas I've ever had! Bartender was friendly and attentive. The calamari was also a standout--crispy, flavorful, and not overly greasy. I'll definitely be back to try a full entrée soon. This spot has officially earned a spot on my go-to list! Sorry I was starving when the food came and I didn't get a pic

Came here for happy hour with friends. Service was quick as it was early so not many people were here. We ordered every appitizer on their happy menu and we just shared it. All was good. The empanadas come with 2 beef and 2 spinach (it's really just one cut in half) calamari looked like onion rings lol they were okay. Wings were good. They were Small, not the big scary ones wirh steroids in them so that was good. Guac, chicken tacos and quesadillas was good. We got sangrias, and margaritas which were all delicious. I recommend this place.

Not too long ago, my friend and I decided to do brunch on a Saturday and ended up at Don Tequila Urban Cantina on Woodhaven Blvd in Queens. The vibes were on point the music was jumping, the service was great, and our waitress was super sweet. We had calamari, chicken wings, and chicken tacos, and everything came out quick and tasted amazing. The mojitos were the star of the show star my friend had guava, I had tamarindo, and both were so good. Plus, happy hour on a Saturday? You really can't beat that. Definitely a spot I'd go back to and recommend. The place was fun and lively but still comfortable enough to just sit back and enjoy. It's one of those spots you leave already planning your next visit.

I ventured here because my normal spot seems to be falling off a bit so its time to discover the new. A fee people i know have mentioned Don Tequila so i figured let mw give it a go. Went on a beautiful Saturday, a little early for dinner but the timing was great because it wasnt too packed out. They offered indoor and outdoor seating but it was chillier than expected so we sat inside. The place is very cute inside and gives you that mexican fiesta room type feel. Waiters and waitress all seemed to have a latin accent of sort so it was even more the authentic vibe. Everyone was polite and smiling which always helps my reviews. Now to our food, we were starving so please forgive some missing photos. We got appetizers, guac and chips and calamari. The guac was exactly how i enjoy it, some what salty but balanced with the lime, which you could taste. The girlfriend doesnt like it this way but it was perfect for me, esp once its topped on a chip. The chips were more the bagged tostitos variety but they were fresh, salted and still very good. The calamari was good, not the best ever, but still good. Crunchy, not too chewy and came with two tasty dipping sauces. The serving was a little small but it wasnt shy for the price by any means. Dinner i got a crunchy steak bowl which was very good. Nothing seemed like cheap ingredients, steak was cook perfect for me and the serving was a good size. I tried some of my girlfriends "yellow rice" and jt was also very good but slightly dry but i mean thats rice. The prices were your average dinner prices, nothing nowadays is priced "fair" but places have to stay in business and if you want quality food served well this is where we are at. All in all i enjoyed Don Tequila but im not sure if ill be a regular just yet. Thank you for the food and great service though.

This was my second time dining here, and I thoroughly enjoyed it once again…read more After enjoying a delicious meal paired with a fantastic all-jazz performance, I'm already looking forward to coming back. I ordered the short ribs and the five-onion soup again, and both were excellent. The service was spot-on and impressively quick--my food arrived in under 15 minutes. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. The beautiful flowers add such a nice touch (as I mentioned in my previous review). While it's not fully upscale, it has an elevated, sophisticated vibe that makes you want to dress up for the occasion. Highly recommended!

Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.

We tried to make reservations for 6:30pm, but it gave us an error message that the time had been taken already, so I was assuming that the restaurant would be packed, but it was the opposite when we walked in. There were only two other people there. So I would definitely look into their reservations system. For drinks, I went for the mango margarita. 10/10 recommend the drinks. My margarita was delicious. their cocktail menu looks super fun, they have drinks that come out in little bathtubs and cute presentations. For food, we shared the ahi tuna tostada appetizer which was so good! super fresh and flavorful. For our mains, I got the chicken al pastor tacos (loved the flavors, especially the avocado crema) and he ordered the carne asada tacos, which were also packed with flavor. Portion-wise, for the price, you get three tacos, so it felt very reasonable. The tacos were definitely a hit for both of us. The only small downside was the service towards the end. everything started out great, but once we were done, it took a while to actually get the check and pay. Kinda funny how it took longer to leave than it did to get served. Not a huge deal, but just something to keep in mind if you're on a schedule..they definitely don't rush you out. Overall great vibes, great food, great drinks. I would absolutely come back!

I hate to bring down a mom 'n' pop shop, but this place isn't very good. It's also kinda pricey for Forest Hills and for the quality you get. Sigh. The best dishes we got were the Oxtail Croquettes and the Crispy Salmon. Things started going downhill at the pretty but bizarrely flavored Forest Hills Roll, which inexplicably pairs salmon, tobiko, orange, chives, avocado sauce, and teriyaki mayo. I appreciate a creative/fusion roll, but salmon and orange should never, ever exist on the same plate. Ever. The worst item we got was the Chicken Udon. I'm not sure how aany Asian restaurant could mess up such a staple dish, but in Daikon's case, it's because they used Japanese SOUP udon, not stir-fry udon. As soon as the plate was set, I could tell it was the wrong type of udon, and the udon was massively overcooked. Yes, there are different types of udon and they are meant to be cooked in different ways. They are identifiable by their shapes, storage needs and preparation needs, a memo Daikon clearly missed. Points for loading the dish with veggies, but eating them within the soggy mess of udon was just unpleasant.
