We got invited with some friends for dinner and night of karaoke. It's very nicely set up inside with a lounge vibe and good view to the stage. They do have bottle service or you could just order drinks off the menu. I ordered a lychee martini which was sweet and strong. I order their shrimp Mofongo which had good flavor but was on the dry side. Karaoke was fun; I didn't perform but there were a couple of people who went up to sing and the main performer was super talented; she had a beautiful voice and had the audience captivated. Back in 2016, I reviewed Carro Cafe and since have returned several times. The food is still tops and in my opinion, the reason I continue to dine here. Service has improved but lags behind many eateries, Especially when they get busy. If you sit outdoors you'll probably feel abandoned during midday to early evening hrs. It's just inconsistent service from one waitress to another. There imposed fees are another irregular service practice. Check your food bill before you sign or pay cash. They include the tip on all checks and add the credit card fee, hidden in the food portion of the bill. Went here with my family last night after hearing glowing reviews from my aunt and cousin. It certainly did not disappoint and definitely exceeded my expectations. I wasn't an expecting a fairly upscale-ish Dominican restaurant opening ever in this neighborhood but I'm glad it's here! The interior is quite nice: glowing lights, an updated bar area, and some nice paper light orbs that I'm pretty fond of. You don't come across these kind of nice looking restaurants in this part of town so it's pretty refreshing. There are several flat screen TVs playing the baseball game and some Julio Iglesias was playing at a decent volume. My only complaint is that the table was on the small size for the 4 of us but we ended up fitting comfortably. We were familiar with the executive chef's food since he was an executive chef at a now closed restaurant not too far away and he happens to be a family friend. With that said, the menu was fairly extensive as well as the drink list. We got a round of piña coladas and they were close to perfect. Our waitress was very knowledgable and friendly, always a plus in my book. My dad and I ordered the camarofongo, my mom got the stuffed lobster tail and my sister got the churrasco. It took a while for the food to come out despite the fact we were the only ones there, with an exception of another family who had finished their meal, so I am not sure how quick service is when the restaurant is fuller. But boy, the wait was worth it. My camarofongo was probably the best I've had (you can either get a white sauce or a garlic sauce. I went with garlic). The portions are generous so it's definitely worth the price tag. It comes with 8 nicely sized shrimps. Mom's lobster tail was divine and my sisters steak was equally as good. Everything was seasoned incredibly and we were disappointed when we were too full to wipe our plates clean. Apparently they have live music later on Saturday nights and it becomes a lounge so I might have to check that scene out. Amazing food ! But way too long of a wait. We came by on a Sunday evening for my mother's birthday. The restaurant was perfectly lit not too dark yet had a club like lighting with a few TVs and great music. We were a party of four with a child, there were maybe four other small parties during that time. We started with a shrimp mofongo for the table and immediately ordered our entrees. It took the appetizer about 20 mins to arrive, and ended up being a small portion. We then waited almost an hour for our entrees which was irritating since we were starving guess it was worth the wait b.c the food was delicious!! My sister got her order first b.c it was just a salad, my mother had the skirt steak that was perfectly tender and juice. My boyfriend had the pork chops that were fall off the bone delicious and I had the shrimp Alfredo. The downside besides the long wait was that all our orders were served very apart, by the time the last plate was served which was the pork chops my pasta and my mothers steak had been sitting in front of us for a bit while. Let's just start off by saying the place looks great and the food taste good but that is it the rest is bad. We placed our order at 3:27pm and did not get our appetizers till about 1 hour later to then have to wait almost 2hours and 30min for our entrees. The waitress barely paid attention to us and failed to keep us updated on our orders. After almost 1 hour of ordering our entrees the waiter let us know they didn't have some of the items we had ordered. Towards the and of the meal we had asked to speak to a manager about how poorly we were handled and all they had to say was "well was the food good?" As if good food was all that mattered giving us a hard time to even try to compensate for the fact that we were well over 3 hours in their establishment but for them that wasn't an issues as long as the food was good. I'd recommend this place for those who want to waste an evening waiting on food that for them is ok to wait 3+hours. After we gave them some more complaints they decided to remove appetizers taking of $40 from almost $500 bill and repeating that they only had 1 cook. This is becoming one of my favorite spots when in the mood for some latin flavor . From the food to the drinks to the service to the entertainment this is top notch. The Himalayan steak is one of our favorites it comes out on this hot rock and has the best flavor. As a Miami girl when they offer a side of mashed malanga that just makes it complete for me. The waitresses are friendly and professional . They always remember what we order and make us feel at home. The live music is our favorite with Tony Bravo on sundays but the DJ is always on point he makes it a great experience every time. Its also a great spot to smoke a cigar with friends and family.
