I took advantage of the their lunch special and ordered the carne asada. I ordered it to go. As I waited the restaurant had multiple people also enjoying the treats from the bar and kitchen for lunch. Upon arriving home, the grilled meat was delicious and plentiful. There was enough for left overs as the meat was folded in half in the tin. I chose the sides of frijoles (beans) and maduros (sweet plantain). What a gem! Having received a recommendation from a friend that also is a chef I was excited to check the place out. He recommended the nachos with pork as a definite must try and was he right. The nachos were crisp which let's be honest if you have ever tried them you know they can moonlight as a wet paper towel but not this place. And the pork was out of this world flavorful. Food 4.5/5: I only had the chicken nachos but it was legit so delicious that I was licking my fingers. Stumbled upon this place while driving home and decided to look it up on Yelp. I love love Mexican good so when I saw the food options and good reviews I quickly did a U-turn and decided to try them out. The restaurant is decorated with many vibrant colors but it was hard to notice because it seemed like the only light they had inside was from outside. The restaurant itself is quite small and during my visit, there were maybe 5-6 guests including myself. No dj. Music was playing from a phone, I'm sure. There was one bartender and one server. I ordered my food to go and a to go drink while I waited. The food did not take long at all. Food: I got shrimp nachos and av order of chicken nachos. Both were delicious and gave a good amount of all the ingredients, specially the nacho chips. That did put a lot of cheese which I will most likely tell them to put not so much of next time. There is also an ingredient in there that is spicy, not sure what, but will be requested to not include next time. For the drink I ordered the Selena. It was very tasty and actually refreshing. My only negative is the parking. The restaurant is on Queens Blvd service road with several other restaurants , so the parking is very limited. read more

I really love this neighborhood spot. It is such a treasure on an otherwise kind of unwelcoming stretch of Queens Blvd. I've been going since they opened and the people who work there are wonderful and the kitchen takes pride in the quality of the food. The henny-colada (piña colada w/ hennesy) hits every time and the Smokeshow is a truly perfect drink if you love smokey mezcal like I do. Only one reason it's not five stars and I would gladly punch that last star if they did me one favor and added a bean & cheese burrito to the menu. This is a common staple in Mexican food and those of us who grew up in Los Angeles are yearning for Mexican restaurants in NY to recognize the bean & cheese for its critical place in the cuisine. I would like to go to this, one of my fave Mexican places and not be treated like it is weird and foreign for me to order a bean & cheese burrito. Price for lunch is $12.99, and included either 1or 2 sides, and soda or water (tap bec no bottled water was brought out). The portions looked good when brought out. The grilled steak was tasty but cooked well-done so a little tougher after a while. The grilled pork chops had a hint of sweetness. Didn't taste these but my son liked his steak burrito, which had cubed meat; the steak torta, which had fried breaded meat got a bit dry. Offered two sauces: green sauce which was very mild, and bottled- hot sauce. As far as desserts, churros were our favorite with dulce de leche inside, some chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Not so much the tres leches - only the bottom half was slightly soaked so the top was dry; also lacking a bit of the fruits mentioned. All in all the meal was just ok. Liked the murals. The lighting was dim but the colorful decor was vibrant. Service by the only staff member taking care of the diners was great though. He was attentive, while remaining calm and with a smile. Great small restaurant serving top quality nachos, shrimp fajitas and even some onion rings! These nachos are definitely my go to, totally dig the hardened melted cheese on the tortilla chips. I'm not sure what cheese mix they are using but it definitely works. Totally customizable, liked that they pay attention to requests for items on the side like sour cream, avocado, and beans as some in my party have allergies. My order of shrimp fajitas come with warm tortillas on the side making it a fun do-it-yourself exercise. I've wanted to try Lime & Salt since it opened in my neighborhood. I walked in afterwork on a Wednesday night. There were a few patrons between the bar and the tables. The waiter immediately greeted me when I arrived and I was able to sit. I took the waiter's recommendations for food and the drinks. The waiter had a recommendation for every type of liquor but since I was in the mood for tequila, I had the Selena. It was nice and strong and not too sweet. For my entree I had the birria tacos. SOOO good. Very flavorful. The tacos were huge. I thought I would be able to finish all three there, but I ended up taking one home. I warmed it the toaster oven the next day and it was still delicious. Can't wait to go back and try more items off the menu. read more

Made an order for delivery: 3x Mango Margaritas 16oz 3x Classic Margaritas 16oz 4x Fried Calamari 4x Wings Lots of back and forth just to place this order, a total of 5 calls (3 from waiter and 2 from delivery driver). As seen in the photos, i received 2 different containers for the same measurement drinks. The waiter told me estimated time was 35 minutes for the delivery, placed the order at 8:50pm. The driver gets lost going to my address and calls me at around 9:46pm. Calls me again at 9:55pm to meet him up at the corner. Ridiculous, nowadays with GPS how do you get lost getting to a destination? 2 guys meet me at the corner of my block and im forced to take 3 bags worth of food and drinks back to my house. The food arrived cold of course after an hour and 5 minutes. The calamari were undercooked and rubbery, might as well asked for grilled calamari. Both the wings and calamari were way too salty. Not even the drinks were up to par, overall a terrible experience that cant be written off for simply arriving late. To top things off the total price was different from what i was told and the delivery guys didn't come with an extra receipt. During happy hour we partook in some margaritas and they were well made. The chips were crunchy and plentiful the salsa was great, although I would like the salsa a bit spicier. The guacamole was very well made, very fresh and very authentic. We also ordered chicken enchilada with the house mole sauce. It was amazing. The flavors were spot on and the best I've had in a while. The Birria tacos were also delicious. My kid & I had lunch here with a friend & her kid, we came on a Wednesday around noonish. The place was empty which isn't surprising considering it was the middle of the week. There was only one server and she was keeping herself busy at the bar. She was very pleasant and told us to sit wherever we liked. We needed a highchair which she brought out right away along with the menus and then a bottle of chilled tap water. Being that the place was empty, we didn't feel rushed to order, but once we placed our order, we didn't have to wait long for the food. We started with guac & chips (forgot to take pics), chips were nice and crunchy, guac was good. I liked that the guac wasn't spicy but a small cup of spicy sauce(salsa?) was included on the side with the chips. For our main meal, I ordered the Tinga chimichanga, it was tasty but could've used a little more sauce, maybe some guac. My kid had the "kids" burger, I was surprised with how big it was considering it was on the kids menu. The doneness of the burger was medium, a little bloody when I cut into it. I would've preferred if it had been cooked to medium-well/well done but I had to reheat it anyway for dinner. Most of the burger(about 3/4ths) ended up coming home, which both kids ended up eating for dinner. They both enjoyed it and it was filling enough for the both of them. My friend had the chorizo chimichanga(not pictured), she said it tasted good but became a little salty & overwhelming. She ended up adding the left over guac to tamper down the salt. We stopped by here for dinner and given we were in the mood for Mexican and figure we give this a try. Stepping in, there's a bar on the right hand side with rows of tables stretched on the left and some down on the far right. Despite it being a Sat night, we were able to get a seat quickly. We liked the decor but it was a tad too dim lighting wise for our liking. But that's a minor preference. My son got the steak chimichanga and the presentation looked gorgeous but he felt the steak cut could have been better. I had the buttermilk chicken sandwich which honestly was pretty good. It came with chorizo embedded in the sandwich and hot piping fries on the side. My only minor complaint is that the guac slapped in the burger did make the bottom part of the bun a bit too moist and hard to pick up at times. But overall, I enjoyed my sandwich. My wife had the blackened mahi mahu tacos on corn tortillas. She thought it was just alright. Overall, we give this place a 3.5 stars based on our one visit. Let me start off by saying the prices are very similar to restaurants in Forest Hills (iykyk), Astoria, and Manhattan. But the happy hour definitely makes up for it! For happy hour, Mondays - Fridays from 12-7pm (best happy hourS ever), they have: - $8 cocktails - $7 well drinks - $5 shots - $4-8 beer - $7 Pinot Grigio or Cabernet Honestly, if you wanna get lit, get the cocktails lmao -- I got 2 mojitos and they're pretty strong!! Bravo to the bartender. For appetizers, my friend and I just shared the fried calamari ($15) -- they were good!. For the entree, we shared steak fajitas ($16). My friend said the steak was a small amount, and I guess I do agree with her. They stack it with peppers and onions on a small cast iron plate, but they're generous with their tortillas, and it comes with a little cup of guac! For dessert, we got the churros ($10) with a caramel filling. I didn't realize that they had caramel, but it was fine because I was able to scrape it off easily. My friend and I went to Lime & Salt recently for dinner. Our experience there was so-so. The house music was very loud, so loud that I believe that it led to the waitress getting an order wrong. I ordered chips and guacamole and a shrimp quesadilla. The chips were mundane. They had little taste and little salt. The guac was a little spicy but that might have been because I do not like spicy food. (It was my friend's idea to eat Mexican!) The shrimp fajita was good and is something that I would order again. My friend ordered tortilla soup and chicken flautas. She did not finish her soup. She said that it tasted "odd." She started to eat the flautas, only to discover that they contained cheese rather than chicken! I urged her to send them back but she did not. Nonetheless, she was pretty unhappy with her meal and said that she would not return. The service was very haphazard. It was hard to get the attention of a server when I was ready to leave and needed a container for my leftovers. I tried catching the attention of a server but they just walked by me, even though one had just helped people at the table next to me. I think that they should have been scanning the room, on the lookout for people who needed assistance. Our waitress was behind the bar making drinks so did not see me. The final score was 1- 0. I will return for a shrimp quesadilla, but will probably take it to go because I don't like loud music, poor service or dining alone.
