My friend and I went here last night for a quick dinner and had such a great experience. The food was really good across the board. For starters we had the tostones frida then for entrees we had the lamb chops, chimichurri steak, and fried ice cream for dessert. Everything was flavorful and cooked just right. Our waitress was amazing. She was attentive and available even when it started to get packed. The vibe of the place felt a little more upscale, which we loved. One thing to note is that they do have a dress code, so just keep that in mind before going. It definitely adds to the overall atmosphere though. Such a beautiful spot with so much potential however the service is TERRIBLE, the food is mediocre and the drinks are over priced. I dined at Casa Kahlo last year, a few weeks after they opened. The service was so bad, I didn't leave a review as I chalked it up to them still working out the kinks. 8 months later I decided to give them another try and it's safe to say I will not be returning. The hostess was lovely and very helpful, the waiter was friendly and tried his best. It was Cinco de Mayo and the restaurant was pretty busy but not packed. Our drinks took forever to come and arrived in plastic dollar store cups, we had to ask for water 3x. The guacamole was good but lacked spice even though we ordered extra spicy. The kids steak was undercooked , we asked if they can cook it to a medium well temperature and it came back burnt! The ropa vieja was good, a large portion of meat served with a kids size bowl of rice and beans. The churros portion is small, the menu said it was served with ice cream but it just came with whipped cream and 1 caramel filled churro cut into 3 pieces. After dinner we moved to an outdoor table and ordered another round of drinks which also took an unreasonable amount of time and they forgot one of our drinks. 20% gratuity and a credit card fee automatically added to the bill. read more

We had an amazing experience thanks to our server, Jeansy. She was incredibly sweet, personable, and attentive from start to finish. Our food came out quickly and everything was perfect. She even went out of her way to get my drink served in a special glass just the way I wanted it. Most importantly, she made my girlfriend's birthday feel truly special and memorable. The waiters are scrambling and having to yell over the music. 3 small pancakes with no meat or eggs for $15? Only if those pancakes are phenomenal-they are not. Better to pay more and get steak and eggs or chilaquiles. The drinks are fine. But they will not let you switch after you start one, however they didn't always bring accurate drinks. So we were stuck with whatever hit the table. Also it states tax is included on the menu, then they charged us tax. They are making some great money. $60-$65 a person for food and drinks. read more

I've seeing TikTok's of this place and was nearby for work decided to try them out. Thursday afternoon 4pm I thought the Place was closed, I checked their website And it said opened. I walked in no customers. I really wanted to try it out so took a seat at the bar. Started with their house margarita I think it was a sour mixer added to which I dislike so was not a fan of it. For appetizers I ordered their empanadas 3 to an order - cheese,chicken and beef all were just okay. Definitely something I would not order again. The restaurant's decor was good, the flooring stole the show. Lots of picturesque "stations" around the restaurant. Service was a little extra, felt like they were trying to turn over seats. We checked this place out after some friends had already been multiple times and kept siggesting it to us. There is a parking lot in the back, no need to find parking on Post Ave! The outdoor back patio is very nice and I could see groups enjoying cocktails there in the spring and summer. Inside is a bit tricky. You have to walk past the DJ booth, the bar (beautiful), and general seating to the very front where the hostess is tucked away in a vestibule. Keep this in mind if you park in the lot. We were seated in an area that's a bit elevated off the main floor. The walls are beautifully designed and each table has a tiny lamp. The complimentary chips and salsa were good. I had a spicy margarita and it was legit spicy! Real jalapeno floating around with a Tajin rim. It's the first time I have ever been served a margarita with a straw but I'm clumsy so I welcomed it. My partner told me his white sangria was very good (it looked like a mimosa to me). For an app we had the crab tostados which was honestly my favorite food part of the meal! They don't skimp on the crab meat here and it paired perfectly with the pickled onions. For entrees I had the chicken enchiladas with mojo. The chicken had zero flavor but the mojo more than made up for it. My partner had the arroz con pollo and said the rice had no flavor whatsoever. Based on other Yelp reviews I've read, this seems to be a trending issue. Service is great. Our waiter was more than accommodating. The music can be a bit loud but they do have a live DJ from 12-7PM on Sundays. I can definitely see us coming back for appetizers and cocktails as those were our favorites. This new restaurant has been opened for only two weeks and it's the hottest right now. As soon as you step into this sexy establishment, you immediately feel the Miami vibes. The place is adorned with lush floral decor mixed with modern and boho. My sis and I started off with a Margarita flight which consisted of a classic margarita, strawberry, passionfruit, and blackberry flavored , which was a 10 out of 10. Our waitress was pleasant. I was disappointed to learn that the fried red snapper entree was unavailable. We opted to order appetizers to share. First we tried the crab tostada which was so fresh and meaty! You tasted the fresh herbs, sweet corn, pickled red onion with a piece of avocado. The tortilla school was nice and crispy! The fried sweet plantains were to die for! The chicken and cheese empanadas were filled to the max. For desserts we opted for the churros & ice cream which were nice and warm with a nice filling surprise. We also had the tree leches and it was not good at all. The cake was spongy and it did not give that creamy/milky sweet flavor. Other than that, I totally enjoyed my evening and would return to enjoy brunch. After we paid the bill and continued our great conversation, our waitress asked that we leave so that other patrons could enjoy. She did offer us a seat at the bar if we weren't ready. As many have said before, they're very strict on their dress code policy. The hostess did not turn me away and let me know for next time even though I was wearing boots, (not ugg but apparently any fur boots can be looked down upon). So to hear that other patrons were turned away is a bit upsetting. Luckily, if I hadn't been seated, I would've just switched out my shoes from my car. Which may be an inconvenience for other guests who commute via other means of transportation. I feel as though there should be leniency especially during the winter time but I digress. When my friend and I made a reservation for 10 pm, I was told that they had no reservation for me upon arrival, so I was a bit confused as I directly booked the table on the website. This can be troubling because they do have a no show policy that they state on the reservation site. Upon the walk-in, the ambience of the space was very nice. Unfortunately, this is not a place for you to be able to have a conversation with your party unless you're actively using an outside voice. Music was pretty loud and my friend and I had trouble conversating. Food was pretty decent. I didn't have any complaints really, but it can be deemed overpriced for the portions. I usually don't write reviews, but I just had to mention the little things I noticed when dining. Planned a night out for cinco de mayo - made a reservation for 6 people, showed up on time, saved our appetites for a great meal... WRONG the manger gave our table away because she thought we would be late after we checked in. We wait almost 30 to sit down. The music is blaring. DJ screaming to the point where you can't hear the person right next to you, and the waitress can't hear your order. The drinks took forever, only half were right, the food took so long we had to take it to go. The only thing that came out fast was the check. What a gorgeous evening at Casa Kahlo. Let me start with the look and the vibe that greets you from the moment you enter the front glass doors. The staff welcomes you like family and ushers you into an oasis. There is SO much attention to detail - from the choice of floral decor to the colored crystal chandeliers that pick up the lighting and images playing on glass screens behind the inviting bar area. The ambiance created by the path to the next star of the show which was the menu and the cocktails. I enjoyed the Steak Fajitas which were possibly the best fajitas I've ever had. Dined here last night with my sister-in-law and couldn't wait to write this review! The space is absolutely stunning -- massive, sexy, and upscale with a gorgeous outdoor terrace that's just as impressive. We shared a few appetizers and honestly didn't have room for entrées because the portions are pretty generous. Dessert was a must though -- the churros were fantastic, but the tres leches didn't quite hit the mark. Drinks were a highlight! I ordered the margarita flight and it was easily the best I've had in a while -- strong, balanced, and definitely not watered down. Service was steady and impressive considering how packed the place was. Food came out quickly, and our waitress checked in just enough without being overbearing. Definitely a nice balance of traditional Mexican flavors with a modern touch. * Drinks: The cocktails were refreshing and beautifully served (highly recommend trying one of their mezcal Paloma). * Service: Staff was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything flowed smoothly throughout the night. Considering it was a soft opening, they handled it very well. * Ambiance & Décor: The atmosphere is stylish and upscale with vibrant décor that really stands out. It's a beautiful place for a night out. A bit of constructive criticism: The strict dress code feels unnecessary. I understand not allowing people to walk in half-dressed, but banning hats, hoodies, or sandals seems over the top. This restaurant is no different from other Mexican and Peruvian spots like Besito in Roslyn or Pappa Gallo in Rockville Centre, which manage to keep a great atmosphere without imposing such restrictions. We had to wait 45 minutes for a reservation (and with a large party, it's NOT fun waiting in that tiny room where you can't wear a hat, even if it's 20 degrees and you're standing by the door) Apparently they have a strict dress code but they didn't bother us. Most tables were dressed like they were in Miami. (...so dresses and heels even in the cold) The food is pretty good- but it doesn't come close to Miami or NYC- yet the price tags? Outrageous for what you're getting. We had a large group and the food standouts were the quesadillas and fajitas. Again, the price tags are wild for westbury. The drinks were disappointing. What you have listed is what most people wear- coats, hats, boots, sneakers- etc. And we look good in those items unlike folks in Miami and elsewhere that don't dress in New York attire. What was really odd is that the pen to write the bill didn't work, so I asked another server for another pen, my server came back to show me how it did work on his arm, only to try in the paper and to find out it didn't worked. So please bear in mind the restaurant has only been open two weeks as I write this review. The atmosphere was very inviting and so instagrammable. Loved the art and deco theme of Frieda Kahlo. Service with it seemed like they were a little understaff and not everyone spoke fluent English or felt comfortable. That was fine though, I'm sure as they find their groove service time and staffing will improve. We also went on a Friday night when it was definitely loud and lively. We were thankful to have had a reservation. I wish we could have sat outdoors but we sat inside in the front. So perhaps next time. We had frozen margaritas which were ok. They were not as frozen by the time they got to us and my cousin had the wrong rim. She asked for salt and they gave her tajin. Food wise, it was also good just a little pricey for what we could easily get at other Mexican establishments. However, the fish ceviche was excellent as well as the shrimp Burria tacos. On the walk in this place is beautiful. Tastefully decorated and friendly hostess. We were seated almost immediately and greeted by our waitress. We were so caught up taking in the ambiance and snapping pictures that we didn't even look at the menu right away. I started with the Blue Hawaiian which was presented in a super cute glass. I then had a passion fruit margarita which was done right! For my entree I had the salmon with Mexican rice and tostones. Everything was good but the rice portion was questionable. It was almost a child's serving. The vibe is on point, however, I did find the music to be ridiculously loud. To the point where you're literally yelling to have a conversation. This place is great to have a fun night out with friends over good food and drinks. If you're looking for a quiet, intimate setting this is not the place for you. I do plan on returning to try their brunch menu which is served daily until a certain time. Hopefully, the music isn't blasting early in the day. Keep in mind they do have a dress code. My husband and I had a great time last night at Casa Kahlo celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary. Food was great although portion sizes were small but music and vibe were fantastic! I gave it 4 stars because service was very slow. I believe it was just our waiter because I did see the other waiters check in on their tables often but we barely saw ours. We checked in with the tables next to us and they also had the same response regarding the waiter. We stopped by the bar for a bit afterward and the bartender and bar staff were great! Went today for an early birthday celebration, came for the Sunday DJ brunch party from 12pm- 7pm. As soon as you walk in, the music is loud and the vibes are great. To do brunch, everyone at the table must order from the brunch menu and it is $50 per person, which includes an entree and unlimited mimosas, sangria, or house margaritas (you can choose only one) for 90 minutes. The drinks were great but took forever to come to the table, we'd wait 10-20 minutes between drinks to come, that's very slow for a bottomless brunch experience that is timed. I tried to go to this restaurant for my birthday but the staff clearly aren't trained to provide any information! We called the restaurant to ask simple questions such as if groups of a certain size require a certain menu and what reservation size requires a deposit. We informed we likely had a range of 10-15 people. Was told they need an exact head count before they could provide any information?? Unfortunately I'm not going to confirm everyone's attendance for a bday without being able to provide them with any details ?? Such a backwards system. It wouldn't be hard to have these things in place and staff educated on the policies. The last restaurant I worked at had these things set in place and made booking reservations so easy for customers, my bosses would have never tolerated someone answering phones who has no idea what's going on and can't even take a proper message and get back to customers!! After seeing the reviews about how they turn people away on empty weekdays for things as little as footwear I decided against even trying to call again.
