Excellent food and drinks! They have an $18 lunch special that you get so full on . You can't stop eating though cause the food is so good!

I recently visited the new Taco Azul location in Whitestone, Queens with two others, and it was a great experience overall. The restaurant is much larger than the previous location, with a really nice vibe, cool decor, and a clean, energetic atmosphere. The service was really good, and considering the time and day, the lunch crowd was very manageable. We ordered a variety of dishes and drinks to share. The guacamole was definitely a standout, along with the Mex fries, alote and the tortilla soup, which tasted different from what I remember at the previous location, in a good way. For drinks, we started with sangria and then tried flavored frozen margaritas. They offer a wide selection of flavors, both on the rocks and frozen, which is a nice touch. Our waitress was very friendly, greeted us with a smile, and gave helpful recommendations from the menu. We ordered a mix of tacos(salmon, chicken, and shrimp) and all of them were delicious. The burrito salad was also very good, and the chips and salsa were a solid addition to the meal. Overall, it was a really enjoyable visit, and we will be going back. Taco Azul provided great customer service. Our waitress was very attentive and informative. I can't believe it is so close to my house and my first time visiting. Well it did not disappoint! We ordered mango passion fruit shrimp aguachile. It was very fresh and light. My husband ordered chicken enchiladas with the green sauce- they were delicious!! I ordered two Gordita's chicken and steak both were very tasty but the steak was delish. We also tried Mezcal mule, mezcal paloma, sangria, and guava margarita. I came here on a Saturday afternoon for brunch. I had the birria chilaquiles which were not only delicious but a generous portion. They also offered bottomless margaritas for $30. I went with the regular margaritas which were very tasty and the right amount of alcohol for an afternoon meal. read more

We have been coming to this restasince they opened and we have had burritos, tacos, birria, soups, margaritas frozen or on the rocks and they deliver and extra ordinary experience every time. Came in late night with a party of 5 and we were well accommodated. The decor is beautiful and the food was excellent. We all had options ranging from vegetarian to fish options. The mushroom Gordita was filling and the salmon tacos were delicious. I had the mole Amarillo which was light not spicy at all and paired with the juiciest chicken breast. Next time I want to try the mole rojo. If you're looking to try something new cocktail wise I opted to get the mezcal paloma but spicy version which was fantastic and strong. The dessert was perfect and my favorite was the passion fruit mousse. I want to come back to have Brunch. 10/10! read more

My friend and I had a weekday dinner at Taco Azul. We easily got a seat around 8:30pm. We had a booth seat, which sadly was one of the most uncomfortable booths I've sat in in a long time. But the chill ambiance and good food made up for it. The sauces are really the stars, including the hot sauce. (The hottest one is very hot, indeed!). I really liked my Baja fish and carnitas tacos. They were a good size for the price. I'd perhaps skip the $5 salsa and chips, as the salsas were kind of meh. I'd also probably skip the rumchata Pina colada, which was a bit too sweet and not enough rum, but I was dazzled by the drink menu options. read more

Met my friend here one evening on a Tuesday. We got there late, and were perhaps only one of 3 tables at that time. We got sat in a booth and the booth was very uncomfortable. I could actually feel the springs underneath my bottom which tells you all you need to know about those. The food (for the most part) was a hit, though. We got chips and salsa (this was a miss, the chips were great, but the salsas were meh) - I'd probably get the nachos next time instead. We also shared cheese enchiladas with mole sauce, and the mole sauce definitely had a depth of flavor. I could taste the nuttiness and it was pretty good - these also came with black beans and rice which were delicious! I also got a baja cauliflower taco which I really enjoyed with their chipotle sauce. I got a horchata which I always love. I ended up ordering delivery from here with my husband a week or two later because we wanted Mexican food and I was curious how it would travel. My husband got a baja cauliflower burrito bowl, and I got the baja cauliflower taco, again. We also shared a cheese enchilada with the red sauce which, again, came with rice and beans. I have to say it all traveled really well, and my husband really liked his burrito bowl. This place was good, but I wish there were more true vegetarian options. I had their lunch special, chicken burrito with chips and salsa, Jamaica (hibiscus) Agua Fresca and their guacamole and chips. Their hibiscus drink was definitely on the sweeter side, but still very refreshing, and their guacamole and chips were soo good. Their guacamole was creamy and the chips were thick enough that it didn't break when scooping up the guacamole. The chicken burrito was a bit rice heavier than I expected, and I did wish it had more flavor, but for the lunch special, it wasn't horrible. I did find that I had to scoop a spoon of guac onto my burrito each time I took a bite because it was so dry. Overall, I think it just an okay meal. It was fine for a lunch, but I really wished the burrito had more flavor and it was less dry. I haven't had any other items on their menu, so this is just based on my experience with their lunch special. read more

Been coming here for years before they moved locations. Warning: it's so popular you may have to wait awhile to get your food, but just know that means it's that good! I've never been disappointed by any of their tacos; the vegetarian cauliflower and pulled chicken are my favorites, but they're all really good. The tacos pair nicely with the rice and beans side or their delicious flautas. One of my other main orders is their chicken taco salad served in the taco bowl. Lots of yummy stuff in there and I get leftovers out of it too which I love. Will continue coming here for sure! read more

I've been following these guys since they were at that small spot on Clintonville and probably ordered from them once every few months. This was our first time actually sitting down in this restaurant and eating, though (I know, I'm a homebody). From the cool light fixtures and intimate bar area to their Frida Kahlo neon quote, the place definitely gives off cool vibes. Service is really friendly as well; when the staff talks to you, they do it with a smile on their faces. Wifey and I weren't too hungry, and I was just in the mood for nachos, so we figured we'd stop by to grab a quick bite. We ordered the nachos with chicken and a burrito salad with steak. Nachos: The tortilla chips were definitely thicker, so they could probably travel decently for delivery or pickup. The toppings on the nachos were nice and fresh. My only criticism is that the nachos at the bottom don't really get any love. It would be nice if they put some chips down and threw some cheese on there or something. Burrito Salad: Pretty good. The steak was seasoned and cooked nicely. The beans and rice definitely added some nice flavors as well. Overall, a pretty good spot. Check out their sauces too. In my pictures, they go from the least spicy on the left to the spiciest on the right. Even though we can't handle too much heat, the spiciest one on the right is the best tasting. TLDR: Taco Azul is a local neighborhood Mexican spot in Whitestone. Tasty apps and some great salsa. Steak nachos, quesdillas are solid and lots of taco/tostada options. Taco Azul is one of the better spots in the Whitestone & Bay Terrace area. The portions are generous so make sure not to overorder. I personally like the steak nachos. They're crunchy, cheesy, juicy steak, lots of toppings. Ask for the habanero sauce fore extra hear to cut through the richness. The chicken flautas are also great. Crispy fried tortillas packed with chicken and cheese. There's a whole lot of mix and matching that can be done with the tacos. Pick flour, corn or blue corn. Tortilla or tostada, etc. The quesadilla is solid and the enchiladas are saucy, filling and packed with protein. For tacos my favs are the fish taco and chorizo. read more

Taco Azul was packed when we went on Tuesday night, but we managed to grab the last booth around six. Right away, we could tell this was a spot people love. We started with the nachos, which were a great choice. I tried the grilled fish, salmon taco and the Baja fish taco on blue corn tortillas, and my husband had the Baja fish and Carne Asada on corn tortillas. Everything was packed with flavor, and the passionfruit margarita was absolutely perfect. The salsas were a highlight, especially the orange one, which was fiery and delicious. There was only one waiter for the whole place but they were clearly working hard to take care of everyone. It was our first time here, and we're really glad we finally stopped in. These tacos really hit the spot. The meat was juicy and seasoned well, and the tortilla was warm and soft. I liked the freshness of the cilantro and onion on top. Went in last weekend Saturday. Place was pretty empty maybe because of the rain. It was very nicely decorated inside. We got greeted and got to sit anywhere. We got the frida drink and the Paloma we were asked what we would like on the rim. Salt for the Frida and tajin on the Paloma. Drinks came and we realized after a few minutes there was no salt or tajin on the rim. Asked for an extra straw it never came, until the guy came around to our table and we asked again for an extra straw. The guacamole was simple no flavor. Honestly there was no difference between the Burris and quesabirria tacos except for the cheese decor on top which was very minimal. Same goes for the rest of the food it just wasn't flavorful. I came here to celebrate an occasion and it was a good choice. I had a large party of 8 on a Friday at 6:30pm which they were able to accommodate but we called the day before. The place isn't that big and it got pretty packed after 7:30. In terms of drinks, the margaritas an pina colada were really good. I got the quest birria which were a pretty solid choice. decided to eat here before an appointment nearby and it was delicious, with wonderful service and a cozy ambiance. i ordered the $17 lunch special with the baja cauliflower tacos and mexican fries. the cauliflower tacos were topped with pickled cabbages and guacamole. everything was great and the cauliflower was fried and battered perfectly that you could mistaken it for fish. i didn't order any drinks but they had a variety of margaritas and mocktails on the menu. the service was great and attentive. the waitress was kind and i called the restaurant after i realized i left my umbrella accidentally and she held it behind the bar for me so i was able to retrieve it an hour later. i would definitely go here again and try a margarita next time. keep in mind there is a 4% surcharge if you pay in card here read more

Taco Azul might be not only the best bang for your buck in Whitestone, Queens but also the single best restaurant in the area. Their lunch special is hard to beat no matter how you slice it. $15 for either a burrito, bowl, 3 tacos, quesadilla or soup plus a side and a soda - you aren't finding a better bargain than that in the area. They don't skimp on the portions either as I couldn't even finish my burrito bowl. As for their regular menu, it's loaded with delicious options. My favorites are their birria tacos and enchiladas. The birria is well seasoned and juicy as you could hope for. The sauce for the enchiladas is a true knock out. Definitely a staple in my rotation in Queens. read more

In case you haven't noticed the update, Taco Azul has moved a few blocks from their old location: 14-09 150th Street Whitestone NY 11357 is the new address. The new spot is colorful and IG ready space. While it looks beautiful I personally found it a little uncomfortable. I sat in one of the booths in the corner by the bar and it was so damn tight.. like I could avoid the legs of the person across from me because there is simply not enough space to sit. The table is so close to the booth seat that you feel like you are hovering over half the table. It was really awkward. Not sure how this can be fixed since it looks like the tables were attached to floor and wall, but oddly the benches moved. I also didn't like the new glass bottles the salsas are in - it is a bit difficult to get any out. I missed the easily accessible squeeze bottles. Honestly I probably preferred the old spot - easier parking and the taco shack roadside feel, but hey progress. Thankfully, the good food and inexpensive prices remain, making it worth the trip. I literally got double the food for half the price compared to some Taco place on Metro in Forest Hills. I am fan of the owners and their different restaurants/concept. I am sure they will work out the kinks - its been less than a week in the new space. I will be back for some tasty food and to check out their upcoming bar selection. read more

Lovely taco place in the Bayside area! Tacos are always fresh and wonderfully proportioned. Priced around $3-4 each, having a small stomach I usually devour only 2 in a sitting making lunch less than $10. My favorite tacos will always be the flour tortilla ones in mango shrimp, breaded fish, or the chicken. Love the pulled pork one and will order that occasionally. The one I've never really like is their steak one- it's a bit chewy. Solid taco joint and they will give you tons of sauce to horde in your fridge for future meals. read more

We started off with some appetizers- Elote and Passionfruit Mango Shrimp Ceviche. The Elote was good. The Passionfruit Mango Shrimp Ceviche was the highlight of our meal. Super fresh and tasted great. Only thing was that I wish they cut the shrimp into smaller pieces, but that's a personal preference. The tacos were disappointing. The ones that were ok were the fried fish and shrimp (which tasted similar to the ceviche). The al pastor was dry and the carne asada wasn't flavorful. Visited this restaurant for Brunch on a Sunday. We were immediately seated in a booth. The decor is cute (corn with husks on the wall) and the staff was friendly. I appreciated that the music wasnt too loud, so I could have a nice convo with my family. We ordered Nachos to start and they were loaded and yummy. Finally had time to stop by and grab some tacos last night. We walked in to order for take out and to check out the establishment. The 2 workers were very friendly and informative of items. One was being trained and he was doing a good job. We ordered chips and guac, elote, a quesadilla and 4 tacos. The wait wasn't long, probably about 10-15 min. While waiting we did see they had a lot of delivery orders going out hence why the delivery times are about 60min and up during dinner rush. Always best to place an order for pick up if you can. Once we got home we noticed we were missing the guac for our chips. Mind you, this appetizers costs $10. My husband called the restaurant right away to inform them. He spoke to Irene who was apologetic and said we can get the guac on our next trip over. Since we didn't know if we would ever go back or even when we would go back, we asked for a refund which she happily obliged. Elote: bland, by the time we got home it was soggy and I couldn't taste the cheese or spice. Guac and chips: chips were good but couldn't rate the Guac since we never got it. Al pastor quesadilla: this was recommended by Irene and my husband liked it. The pineapples were mostly in the middle parts of the quesadilla and wasn't. Spread out all over so the first piece my husband ate didn't have it. Wish they can spread it out more. Tacos: Carne Asada, Al Pastor, Carnitas were all good! Wasn't as dry as some other reviewers noted but we did add some chipotle mayo sauce and mango habernero sauce. The cashier said the sauces come with some of the tacos so make sure to ask for them when you order if they forget to ask you which you want. The sauces are on the side in a small container. I'm glad there's a taco spot in Whitestone which is easy to get to so maybe next time when we are craving we will stop by again. read more
