My friend and I visited here on Friday at 6pm. It was pretty empty, only 2 other parties were in there. Took off a star cuz the service started off poor. There were two young ladies standing behind the bar but no one greeted us. We stood by the door for maybe 5 mins before we were acknowledged and asked if we wanted to sit a table or the bar. It took another 10 mins or so before WE had to ask for a menu. After that, the young lady that served us was good and personable. The ambiance in here is pretty chill. They had a DJ that played a good mix of music. They also have a bunch of games like jenga, giant uno, connect four etc. They have happy hour M-F 4-7pm. $5 shots, $8 rum punch and margaritas (+ $1 per flavor), and $10 L.I.T, $10 wings & fries and $12 shrimp & fries (+ $2 per flavor). Drinks: We did the margaritas which are $8 +$1 for flavors. We had the passion fruit, mango, and raspberry flavors. Passion fruit was my fave, mango was a tad bit sweet but when I asked the server to add a shot to fix it, she did. Food: we had the lemon pepper and buffalo wings and fries. The wings were good but the lemon pepper flavor was light and just sprinkled on. The crab legs were really good! It's cooked in a curry sauce, I just wished they actually served it in the sauce. Ok so for starters this a DoorDash review I haven't visited the store in person. & upon ordering there was a slight confusion based on how their meals were displayed online so I called to clarify bc I didn't see an option for any side dishes. There was a sweet lovely lady on the phone that assisted me & assured all my needs would be met as long as I stated it on the notes. Now on to the food... I wanted this place to be my next go too spot. But I can't help how mediocre their chicken Rasta pasta was. I read in a previous review that someone stated that they have lil to no meat in their pasta. & sad to say but they're right. I guess I should've mentioned that to the hostess on the phone but I shouldn't have to. How are you gonna serve a large portion of noodles & sauce & peppers w/ no meat? & charge $25?? Lmao. The pasta order was for my bf & I had to share my jerk chicken dinner w/ him bc he complained there wasn't any meat lol. I tasted it also & I found it to be underwhelming it lacked flavor & seasoning. Now I do like the portion size but if they had a good serving of chicken to go along w it. This would've been a 5 star review. Just keep that in mind next time guys bc this place has potential. Other than that my other meal the jerk chicken w/ rice & peas was delicious! Good portion size filled w rice, chicken, cabbage & plantains. They also paid attention to my instructions by adding oxtail gravy & alot too! Lol. I just found out about this place and am glad I did! Oxtail and rice and peas was some of the best I ever had. Pepper steak also very delicious. Best of all they are generous with the gravy! The food presentation was impressive. We also had a homemade fruit punch which was divine. The service and customer service made us feel like family. I also loved the dancehall reggae music! I didn't go to the store in person . Ordered Uber Ears and my food came on time and piping hot . There's really not too many great places in Queens that makes Rasta Pasta really good ( I'm a Brooklyn girl ...and we know who makes the best ..) but the Oxtail Rasta pasta was excellent ! It is ridiculously expensive though and I think there could have been more oxtails in the plate . Oxtail is on the bone . The sauce is creamy - not too creamy but has a great flavor and texture . This dish was a whopping $32 . Perhaps the fees associated with take out ? Who knows . I also ordered the BBQ wings which were really good. I tried the Mac and cheese reading the reviews and honestly it was not good . I make my own and very few places rival mine . It was dry and has no flavor . Personally it was more macaroni pie than Mac and cheese . I hope to go in person since the restaurant isn't too far from me so I have nothing to add about ambience and decor . I went for happy hour the bartender was super cool & dope. We kicked it with the owner & he was also very welcoming. We only had tacos we weren't that hungry. We chose oxtail & shrimp tacos. Came here on a rainy Saturday night around 5:30pm, there was a happy hour until 7pm, which I love, most places don't have weekend happy hours. I got the rum punch ($8) it didn't taste like a rum punch but it was still strong & sweet. I had the curry chicken, rice & peas & steamed veggies, I enjoyed it but wish it had more spice. The Playlist was playing old skool reggae, hip hop & r&b. The bartender Keyosha was attentive & friendly. They have hookah after 7pm for ($35) , I shall return to try the hookah & red snapper. Support your small owned businesses, period. This is two minutes from me. Spending years in Flatbush, I very early on in my late teens developed a taste for West Indian food. Now in my 20's since moving to Queens, I've longed for that taste- but to go out my way to Richmond Hill could be a hassle. Hearing this opened so close to me was good to hear. I love their Rasta pasta, Mac and cheese, and yams here. I look forward to trying more. They are polite at the front counter. Where the heck have you been?? The food was absolutely delicious. I had a small oxtail with rice and peas. Was always looking for that old school authentic tasting West Indian food, like how it was back in the day. I have been to quite a lot of restaurants from Queens all the way to Brooklyn for that authentic taste. But I now have found it right around the corner from where I live. Please stay consistent and delicious! I seen some people complain about the price being too high, but with this inflation they gotta do what you gotta do. read more

I'm a pescatarian and thus far I've had the Escoveitch red snapper - (great), Fish and chips (yum), Ackee and codfish (wicked), Okra and codfish (21 gun salute), Callaloo and codfish (21 gun salute). I've ordered yam, bananas and all manner of rice and peas and vegetable. These dishes are available throughout the day, not just for breakfast items- so I'm super appreciative when I order and they're fresh and available. INCREDIBLE!!! Just recently found out about a caribbean joint in my neighborhood. Had to give it a try. Ordered jerk chicken, curry chicken, rasta pasta with jerk chicken and a side of mac and cheese. Grand Slam! ALL 4 items were delicious. While waiting for the takeout order, decided to order a rum punch to go as well. It wasn't one of those pre-made joints, the bartender made it right on the spot. Started sipping on it in the restaurant and that drink was on the MONEY!! Mind you I ordered the drink to go, but it was almost done before I left. Last, but not least. Besides the food being amazing. Let's keep it real, now we know some of our caribbean places are not normally known for their customer service. But, for a first time customer my impression of the lady behind the counter was awesome. She was very welcoming, patient and informative about the different events they have during the week at the restaurant. Will be back very soon and will hang in their lounge on my next visit.
